When I was a kid my family took a two month trip around the country. We stayed at campsites, and ate off of one of these stoves almost every night. It was a magical time, and those memories are always with me.

I just found this same stove at the dump for free! It was in great shape. The regulator was missing but i was able to test it with a regulator off another stove and it worked. I ordered a new regulator. Great find. Thanks again for the great video.

Coleman makes an adapter hose so you can use BBQ grill and larger tanks. Extremely helpful, cost about 20-25 bucks. I have had to use one of these in an emergency, open the garage door, set it up and cook.

These kinds of retro family camping stoves are great to have around.
I do a lot of my cooking on portable gas stoves but frankly, you dont want to be trying to cook your full English breakfast on a Firemaple Hornet. It quickly becomes a farce.
With these old retro stoves you can literally cook a meal with a full sized pressure cooker with ease. Thus saving money and effort. Good shout mate.

So true. I have all kinds of stoves yet I find myself reaching for this one or the white gas one mostly, by the way I also love pressure cookers, at camp I use the stove top pressure cooker fast and tasty meals.

My daughter borrowed my butane stove.
She complained it wouldn't work in the cold.
I always taped a handwarmer to the canister.
I am going to recommend that she buy this one.
    Thanks for the review.

Another good review. People need to have some backup for cooking. Especially for those with an All Electric Kitchen. Very affordable, versatile and portable. Fuel is not as cheap as before but is easily found. With a proper adapter and connection, you can even attach it to a 20lb propane tank. I have an much older version of this stove as well as a dual fuel version. Same for the single burner type. It is easy to build your "field" kitchen or "chuck box" set up with this stove for the home, camping, RV and overlanding. Thank you and looking forward for the next one.

Check Walmart prices right now especially in store on line to but check in store. There's a lot of stuff in the camping section that's on clearance. I got a new coleman sleeping bag for $17.09 normally $48 and change. I'm sure you can find some good stuff right now. As the store's are getting ready to switch over to spring and summer stuff and new gear. Thank you for the great videos.

We have a classic Colman white gas stove. We use it for camping and emergencies. It is almost 30 years old and still works like new. Camping as a kid in the 70's, I had to get one for myself. Nostalgia. Propane stores far more safely and for far longer though. It is a better prep!

I have 3 Coleman stoves. I still do tent camping when I can. I bought 2 propane tanks and the gas lines to hook up to the stoves. I also bought a Mr. Heater for the tent. I have various solar energy collecting devices. One for hiking and camping. Another for off vehicle camping. Lanterns and flashlights are needed. Keep batteries in the frig. I also have rocket stoves in case gas fuel is hard to find.

My Coleman two burner dual fuel Colman type fuel or white non ethanol gas camp stove is over thirty years old, beside camping it's come in handy more than a few times during hurricanes and winter storms when the power was out for multiple days sometime as long as two weeks. You can even get an oven thats sits on top of the burner to bake with if you like.

Great video. You can't go wrong with either of those stoves, but personally I would keep the older one. The burners might be larger on the newer model, but do they actually work better? A simple boil test might be in order... In addition, they are just stamped steel - the older stove has burners that can be disassembled and cleaned or whatever with just one screw. If the new ones fail for whatever reason, they are basically just junk. Plus, the cool custom paint job! 😁😁 As a Coleman enthusiast, I generally find that while still good quality, the newer Coleman gear simply isn't as good as the older stuff. If you really want to unload the old stove, LMK - I'll take it off your hands! Take care!

I would have liked to have seen "under the hood" to see how the gas pipes were ran. The 2 older models we have (use the rubber, regulator hose assy. 70'-80' models?), have always had the one burner, and a slave burner. The gas flow to the slave burner has always had issues, as you adjusted the 1st burner. They never have 2 equal buners. And those pressure fitting gas hoses eventually go bad, and would become a fire hazard. And they are unavailable now! (The new style regulator Pipe, does NOT attach to the old stoves! I tried it.). I only assume the "Perfect flow technology" has corrected this problem?
Plus the old, multi-plate burners were a bitch to clean! Like a puzzle to re-assemble. So a burner you can unscrew and clean, would be nice!
For $48.00, this is a bargain! The coleman stoves have been around $100, for years now. And I just wasn't going to buy another one, because of the unequal burner problems, they have had for years! If kept clean, and running, they will last you a lifetime! Plus you can always adapt them to run off a larger propane tanks (ie. 11, 20, 30, 100 lb.) during long camping / disaster durations!

Get the DOT approved Flame King 1 lbs bottles, they’re not cheap but refills from your bigger tank and costs less than a dollar per refill. They end up paying for themselves fast enough, safety valve so you don’t overfill and legal to transport. Don’t try to refill the disposable Coleman ones, not safe no matter what others tell you, walls are too thin and valve might leak, dangerous.
