My zebra finches lay eggs all the time.. even with no box nest she'll lay eggs in her food bowl.. so I bought another nest and we have two nest.. she laying egg's in both nest and she sits on hers in her nest and he sits on his in his nest.. we've gotten 3 babys but they didn't know how to care for them properly, I tried hand feeding but they didn't make it.
so i need advice i have a male and a female zebra finch and a few days ago i saw the pair mating and last night the female laid an egg and they are taking turns incubating but in the past they stopped incubating after four days im just wondering how could i better encourage the pair to keep incubating if they lose interest

The hatching time begains after 13 days. If the eggs not hatch after 13-15 days finch stop sitting on it.you can check the eggs by eggs candling . Does the eggs have chicks in it or not
You can't release indoor birds outside and expect them to survive. They lived because of you. You feeding them. Keeping them safe. Away from predators. If you let them go outside they'll either starve to death or a bigger bird will grab them and eat them.

What about feeding them?
One thing I noticed about finches is that they don't discard their hatchling's droppings. They just lay in it.
They make a new nest in it if nesting available

Don't disturb the birds while they are incubating eggs. Give them some privacy. Give them food and water continuesly
