My first Gucci bag was a cute little top handle cross body, in the micro embossed print. It was outlet only but it was all I could afford at the time it is very good quality real leather, it was £340 and there is no way I would get a leather bag from the boutique anywhere near that cheap 😅, I still use it now even though I have boutique items in my collection. I think as long as you are aware of what you are buying and you check the quality of the item over in store outlet shopping is a great way to buy from brands you may not be able to afford otherwise. But its great to have awareness of what is and is not boutique lines 😊
This has happened to me too, being in an oulet and right away realizing that the quality doesnt match that from the boutiques.

Thank you! When I was in high school that’s when I started looking into designer brands. My mom and aunts would always go to the outlets for Micheal Kors mostly and coach less. Once my aunt brought her Micheal Kors outlet purse to return at retail Micheal Kors and they told her they are different lines.
As someone who used to work at a full price boutique Coach store we knew that things were made for outlet and would tell customers that the grade of leather in outlet is lower then in the normal store. Some things would go to the outlet from full price and was a bargain. The coach outlet in the UK used to make like £100,000 a day no joke. That’s why they carry on selling outlet bags. I do think these stores should be more transparent. Great video Erica x
I thought I got a great deal on an outlet Brooks Brothers blazer. Weeks later at the mall store, I noticed the blazers cost much more and the fabric was completely different and far higher quality. With outlets you pay only for a name, not the quality.

I knew coach did this! They have their serial numbers with an F meaning Factory! and Gucci I did realize after they have items specifically for the outlet but someone did mention to me you can read the tag and it will tell you the year it came out meaning it was the an actual piece from the botique! You are so right! I am not to good for coach but no logos! I just like leather pieces and Coach has some amazing durable leather especially for travel as I do like taking my luxury items to get all smashed in a cabin!
If you go to a coach outlet and the bag says comparable price. That means the item is an outlet price.

I can attest to this as I purchased online from a luxury house an item that had a defect and returned it... I saw it at an outlet a few months later - I recognized it because of the defect.

Desert Hills Premium Outlets[Los Angeles] just opened a Christian Louboutin, Balmain, Loewe, and a Celine. Bicester Village[London]and Woodbury Common[New York] still have the biggest selection of Designer stores.

Thanks for the info - many of the "pre-loved" sites are now selling outlet bags and they are not being transparent about whether or not it is an outlet bag. Additionally the price point is too high in my opinion. Again - thanks for always providing great and transparent information. I too have no issue with Outlet bags as I own a few myself.
Thank you for outlining the stores that have outlet only selection. I did not know so many did this let alone the premium designers with an outlet store.
Prior to watching this video, I purchased my first premium designer outlet bag - actually, it’s the same Gucci Guccisima Bree shown in the video :P I found the bag structure pretty decent, liked the understated look, and needed a “throw around” bag that I didn’t want to over invest in. I compared the outlet bag to my other LV, YSL, and Gucci handbags purchased from the boutiques, and still found the outlet handbag price and quality just. I do admit feeling slightly sadden knowing it’s an “outlet” bag but I haven’t seen any locals with it and that makes me feel better about it :P
I recently bought a Gucci outlet leather camera guccissima bag. It is in perfect condition and I love the leather.
Great video Erica, I've realized that a while ago because the few times (literally 2x) I went to Last Call or Saks 5th OFF I saw items and brands that you usually don't see neither at Neimans nor at Saks. Honestly I think none of the things you see there were sold at the main store they have a special line just for the outlet. May be other outlets are more like the real thing but in my experience with these two it's quite another thing. In Europe at least the PRADA outlet has real stuff from boutiques (a mix actually) Love you and your videos! ♥ Been following you for a while and you never disappoint.
Great video and totally agree with you… I purchased a sukey black thru Belk’s WHAT GOES AROUND section online during COVID… when it came it is smooth leather… did Gucci ever make this in smooth leather or are they usually embossed with the GG logo?

Hi Erica thanks for bringing us some good sensible advice 👏 what do you think about popular brands on Amazon? I often fall for those on amazon store in my country of residence and sometimes end up with plasticky smelling leather bags (coach, kate spade, ted baker..), although they look durable, well designed and all that.

It was a very useful video to watch, I didn't know you can ask this question. Whenever I've been in Bicester Village, outlet shopping centre in England I've seen that Dior has all the time Dior Addict bags in various colours. As far as I know Dior Addict is a discontinued bag and Dior isn't selling it at their boutiques. Maybe they actually got as well an outlet line?

Thank you so much for that, I went to the Gucci outlet in Orlando a few times and finally got suspicious myself, last year in December just after they opened I treated myself to a beautiful wrap, I certainly hope I didn’t make a mistake!! But I think not, but their bags were so ugly nothing like mall millennia store..xoxoxo, Burberry used to be wonderful about 15 years ago their too, now it looks awful, I once got a pair of bottines at the outlet that I saw in millenia and I was ecstatic!! It is so sad how they now mislead us and it makes their name cheap

merchandises made for these chains of stores called "outlets " .. and it is big business !!.
When i see specials buses for tourists coming back from Woodbury they definitely got ...a mix bag !!! of stuff ... Easy preys....
I usually shop from coccinelle,furla, Alvieromartini bags from the outlet and l see them in the main boutiques too.Pls can you do a review on these outlets and their bags too,wl appreciate this.

What are you thoughts on the Prada leather outlet bags? They seem soft and well made.
With the Coach outlet they have mixed items… some from original line and some made just for the outlet store
If the id code starts with a number it’s made just for the outlet but if it starts with a letter it comes from the original coach line
I used to work for Coach…that is how I know this

Hi there, I’ve always wanted buy a designer bag for me and my mom. I was suppose to buy early next year but now that I have watched your video, im afraid to buy from personal shoppers cause they might bought it from an outlet. I have over 20 bags and some from the boutique at Mall and some from the outlets and I have two bags from Gucci outlets, 2 Burberry from the outlets, one Givenchy, one YSL from the outlet, 2 Chloe from the outlets one Mulberry from the outlets and they are all good quality bags that I saw at the Mall
At Coach all you have to do is look at the serial number on it. If it starts with an F it’s a bag that was made for the factory only. If there is no F then it was a regular Coach store bag that didn’t sell and is on sale.
Jimmy Choo also only sells boutique items at their outlets from what I could tell.
The Gucci outlet in Florence had the regular boutique items.
The prices were amazing.
We got an amazing messenger bag that was sold out in the states.

Burberry is mostly outlet lines now. Loads of outlet line trench coates.
I went to the Gucci outlet today and asked two associates if these were MFF. They both told me Gucci doesn't have MFF bags and everything is from the boutique. LOL Glad you are here educating us so we don't get fooled! I was fooled from Prada outlet and got stuck with a MFF bag and spent like $1200+tax. Ridiculous.

Hey Helen! So I actually work for Gucci at a main line boutique. I can confirm that the products within Gucci outlets are pieces that came from main line boutiques. The quality is still the same and it is simply just an older style. They will move things out as new collections come into the main store. Prada on the other hand, does produce pieces that are strictly for the outlet. I found a lot of errors while watching this video.
@Cris yes I agree. I was just in Gucci outlet and there were a couple pair of shoes that were online at full price that were in thr outlet. The sales associates don't know how that happened but you are correct.
St Laurant carries several bags that are in boutique currently. There are inconsistencies in this video.
Im confused so if im buyin a bag in gucci outlet since they dont have the same crafmanship and material line does it mean that gucci outlet is fake? when i know im coimg inside the door with the name gucci? i think depending what type of material people pay on the brand ..in so many years this luxury brand gets expensive each year but they dont really change theres materials. people go to outlet cause there cheap than boutique but if you bought them in a gucci store and not imitation online then id go to outlet if somebody will tell me if the gucci outlet is fake then its not worth it to buy in outlet
