***PLEASE remember to TEST any products you use on a hidden area of your leather goods before applying the products, as your leather item might react differently to mine. Also, NEVER use surgical spirit on non-patent leather, and when you do use it on patent surfaces, only leave it on for increments of around 10-20 seconds (gently washing over with water between each pass). Leaving it on for too long will damage the shiny / glossy top layer and make it dull or worn through.

No darling for LV canvas actually is not good to use dettol or any other alcoholic wipe. I work for LV and they sent us information about it... lately we had customers coming in the store with bags that had an extreme fade in canvas after using one of these sanitary wipes or even worse the gel... What you can do is to get a rubber, that you would use to erase pencil, and very gently go over the bag. That cleans the bag perfectly, it makes miracles on Damier azur.
AndrewInStyle I agree with the other comment, I don’t think it sounds very nice to say “No darling”, it’s like you are chastising her and also it’s a little sexist to call a women “Darling” instead of her name. You offered very good advice but I recommend changing that bit.

Dettol wipes do not contain alcohol (though they may still be bad for canvas).
Is there any guideline about disinfecting? I think that some people would rather use Dettol or similar products thinking about "it kills 99% of viruses and bacteria".

Btw: The leather gel cream in pot is the same one they sell at the mulberry store. It's also sold on their website. The SA recommended it when I purchased my Mulberry bag. I now use it on all my leather bags. Very good cream indeed.

@@leecindy5890 my leather bags are dark colors so I don't have much experience with color tranfers. I personally don't think it would remove color tranfer if not Sophie would have used it on the wallet instead of spirit. The discription on the leather gel post says: to remove surface dirt. Let see if maybe someone in the comment section has used the gel for color transfer removal

I use Collonil leather gel too. Had a beige part leather part suede bag that had navy blue Jean transfer all over the suede part. The collonil gel took all the dye transfer off the bag and bag is good as new. Absolutely miracle product and worth purchasing.

I use Dettol wipes over all my bags lol leather or not, lately I have been avoiding using my leather bags and just use clothes or such that are washable, I rather be safe than stylish :(
I have been watching your videos for a while, and today watching this one I was thinking that I really like you, I like how honest and down to earth you are, at the same time that you're so elegant and upscale, that's perfect, you're like a best friend I never spoke to, If that makes sense. And then, it comes out you have rabbits, I like you even more, I love rabbits too and they are my favorite pet. Thank you for such an insightful video, for anyone watching that has some doubts about the dettol wipes, I've been using them for years, on a daily basis, in my luxury bags, in all kinds of leather and canvas, without a problem. Like you, I always clean them after i used them before i put them back in their closet, I always did it,not just because of covid. Just on a side note, sometimes if you are out and something bad happens to patent leather, shoes or bags, I find that it removes a lot of things just to rub it straight away with hand cream and a tissue, I always carry hand cream so i did this a lot of times.The white product you recommend seems to be amazing, will hunt for it. Thank you for your chanel and your work, love the way you are, really do.
This video is so helpful! I reckon it's best to leave your bags at your entrance for 2-3 days before using them again so anything that might be on them dies before you touch them again, but this is great for people who need to use bags more frequently. I appreciate your careful explanations and humour even during these difficult times. I think it brightens many of our days.

I haven’t done it myself, but I’ve seen a few girls using the “raincoats” that come with some bags because those can be sanitized.

I recently got biro on my YSL Lou Lou bag. I used white distilled vinegar with a microfibre cloth. I gently rubbed it and it came off, PHEW!
I wouldn't clean too much those expensive bags. I would let them rest for 4/5 days between each use and switch bag. Should be ok. It's a virus so it dies out at some point (luckily!)

I actually love this! Was curious if you did anything unusual but nope! Very simple , practical options. I would say if you live in the US, Surgical Spirits is just Rubbing Alcohol, get the 90% kind if you can. It evaporates faster. 70% will just sit there (Target has both kinds except in North Dakota)

I haven’t used my handbags for over a month since the lockdown. I buy my groceries online (and pay online) and pick it up or get it delivered. I only carry my phone and house key when I go for a walk. No need to use bags at all. 😂

Collnil Carbon protection spray is also a god send! I’ve seen handbags under the shower and not a mark in sight after carbon pro! I use it on pretty much everything including furniture

I use non acertone nail polish remover on my patent leather alma vernis and it comes of so quickly and easily and does not ruin the shine if you leave it on.

Canvas also can use a bit of soapy water to clean it then wipe off with clean cloth. 😃 I also always check and clean my bag after each use before putting back to closet.

Thanks for posting this🥰This was a super helpful video, as I always wondered how to clean leather and especially matte bags! I also had nude-colored patent heels with bad stains from scratches from other heels, which came off by carefully using rubbing alcohol. Ive also found a lot of useful applications of rubbing alcohol to take care of leather (used with a lot of care!)
