It's not hard to see why you love it. I certainly do. There's a lot to say about living a simple life. The basics mean more. And each tasks is a great accomplishment. Living large in a small way.
Years ago I lived in a beautiful little log cabin near the Jefferson River in Montana. A wood stove, simple dry cabin, no internet, no cable tv, no worries. I can't remember having a bad day. Twelve years in a row!

I slid on ice and broke tibia, fibula, ankle black friday '22, it was awful, but just keep doing everything you can to speed your healing. Think positive, watch stuff that makes ya laugh, and don't dwell on what ya can't do...do what ya can. I was given a 60% chance of walking. Being older, but SUPER independent, I wasn't having it...Get your rest and GROW that bone back.

I don't have any woods. I only have a lot of olive trees. I don't have a cabin. I only have a small house high up on a cliff above sea. I don't have any wildlife. My 'neighbours' are goats and sheep. But,- I have a lot of wonderful wine and nothing beats a glass (or two) of red wine in the evening. Enjoy! 😊

You drove right by my house on 89.... Tildys so happy to be at the cabin. We just refilled the freezer with pork. Husband didn't get a deer this yr but both boys got a couple each.

Doing deer that way makes a HUGE difference that’s the way we do ours and it’s the best you can get, we had a friend give us some and I couldn’t eat it cause of the way they put it up stay warm and I love y’all’s adventures
I swear the longer they hang the stronger they taste. Everyone's got their own thing and mine are usually in the freezer within a day or two.

That grizzly sign sure was effective.
I know where there are stands of white birch. The deadfall’s will eventually rot away leaving the bark intact. You can collect bushels in just a few minutes.
Great to see that your adventures continue. I'm not a big fan of Wine but I can appreciate the sentiment... a glass of Whiskey with a single ice cube is my evening treat.

Your “refrigerator“ is a little tall for Lori, looks like she could use a little stool especially if she has to regulate the temperature. I had eaten supper shortly before watching this, but watching that meat cook over the fire practically had me drooling.

I totally agree with you about the wine! My wife and I make our own wine from berries we grow in our orchard. We also make some from wild berries. Nothing better than that wine zone in the evening! It sure is nice to see you back at the cabin! 👍
It's very good for the blood too. My blood pressure is always perfect and wasn't before I started drinking reds :-)
I highly recommend avoiding soy sauces. Far too much bad salt. As a resident of the North country, I’ve always known winter to be overcasted for much of the winter. Little known fact : heart attacks and depressive in that area unusually high.
I'd get depressive if I couldn't have soy sauce 8-)

Boss and Lori, Happy 2024 from me and Jim and our new dog, Clem. On my birthday, November 1, we rescued a shelter dog, Mister Clemens aka Clem. He is 2.5 years old and has added so much love to our home. Takeaways from your video...loved the FREE bark kindling because it was not hurting a live tree and didn't cost more than time. Time when you relax in the doing of the task and thinking and knowing you are doing right things. Loved the freezer/fridge that you and Lori use. I remembered it from before but hadn't thought of it in awhile. I have Alpha Gal from tick bite but Jim still eats mammal. I can only do chicken and fish. I deal with it. Some people don't have food. I laugh at the ads for artificial meat and I will be vegetarian before I will do that. Not sure if you heard but one man whistle blower said he as paid to create the look of chemtrails in old movies by big company won't list here but to make it look like it was always that way. Thought of your prior videos with trees dying. The electric company in this region sprayed poisons to kill trees near the road below our property so the electric lines won't get damaged from them. For pity's sake and the creek is just forty feet below that. What can go wrong? Over it. blessings, juanita mae

lol just like my off grid cabin dark and cold when we first get there but while the truck gets unloaded I get the fire going and the propane tank on and that heater going the batteries on and water tanks on too it’s worth the work ole buddy then we get the stove going by then them two grand boys are starving as they say lol and then we start to relax and listen to the radio or watch a movie too

The closer the cabin to home the better. But when it's a beautiful ride it goes by pretty quick. Your ride is beautiful. It reminds me of our ride.. 3 hrs but enjoyable, relaxing, no highways! Rt 22 - NY.

The cabin used to be 7 miles from home. Now it's 300 but we're bouncing around so much now, we don't really know where home is :-))
