The mic attached to your cap is such a clever idea, you’re a genius

I bought this camera 6 months ago is my first camera, and since I have been only shooting with my phone before I feel like I really dont need the view finder, and as I mainly take photos on my travels I really like the size, I really loving this camera so far

I have a D7200 and entered the ML space with a cheap Z30. I am happy so far, it is lightweigth and with my 40mm f2 prime lens (I do love prime) I do normally street and landscape photography. Having just ca. 400 grams in your hands helps a lot when you spend the whole day outdoor taking pictures

great review. my constant struggle with full-frame cameras and crop sensors is that the higher end cameras don't have flip screens and maybe the consumer should choose some aspect of their build... (that would be a cool aspect for a camera company)..since I'd buy the higher end with a flip screen but typically nowadays, most don't have any tilt or rotation at all.

If you don't have a viewfinder increase the visibility of the screen.

The Smallrig 3860 is an L bracket with Arca-Swiss Quick Release Plate for the Nikon Z 30. I purchased one on e-Bay from the Smallrig store for $28.86 back on March 5.
However, it no longer seems to be available new. You could try for a used one somewhere, I guess.
Thanks for the closer look at the Z30 for landscape photography. I enjoyed your insight.

I'm curious to know what your opinion of the z30 l-bracket is. My biggest concern is that the flip screen wouldn't be able to be used. What have you found regarding that component?

      @MookieMc 7 місяців тому

The flip screen can be fully flipped out and not hit any of the bracket. If you want the screen to face in another direction completely, you have to pivot or spin the screen before it is fully flipped out because once it is flipped out it will hit a portion of the bracket when trying to rotate it at a certain angle. So, basically, when it is at 90 degrees I rotate it around if needed and then continue to flip it out.
The bracket is pretty robust like most of all the Smallrig brackets.I installed it just a few days after I got the camera and I like it.

I liked the Z30 when I was looking for a camera, but I went with the Z50 instead because of the viewfinder.
Also, since I was a beginner, a dslr meant I would have had real trouble manually focusing. If it were not for that factor, I would have gone for a dslr like the d7200 or d7500

Casey at Camera Conspiracies also seems to really like the Nikon Z30, and for a totally different use case.

All dx cameras are really good for what they cost you, nice AF, great colors, great 1080P for slowmo ( as long as 120fps is enough for you ), nice 4K.
But they are indeed older tech, if you want IBIS or things like that you need to wait for the next gen dx and i know we can trust nikon for that, the D500 was such an incredible camera at it's time so i'm sure someday nikon will release a high end dx Z camera for those wanting better specs :)

Not after the Z50 had a firmware update. They are both the same now.

An alternative option for landscape photographers, would be a Nikon D800 (second hand). Still one of the best cameras Nikon has ever made. If you're lucky, you can find them with low shutter counts for a few hundred dollars. Full metal body (so yes, heavy) full frame, 36 megapixel, extraordinary dynamic range GOD of a camera. Stick a quality prime F mount lens on it - one of hundreds over the decades, and you'll see micro contrast like you only see in medium format. Even in 2024, few cameras can compete with a D800 (or D810) in terms of image quality. The D850 is also an incredible camera, but they are still expensive to get second hand. The D800 is a steal. If you don't mind the weight factor, but you want the very best IQ, the D800 should be on your list. Mine is my favourite camera :-)

I use both the Z6 and the Zfc ( when i want a lighter camera ), both are great, the nikon look is really nice overall, they may be old tech now they are still more than enough for me ^^ maybe one day i'll buy a nikon with expeed 7 but not now, too costy for what it would bring to me ^^

    Hi!
I want to ask you if use the ibis for your landscape photography?

    • @TheProjectPhotography

Honestly it's a mixed bag. I'll use it only if I'm handheld shooting, but like 90% of the time I'm not. It definitely doesn't hurt to have it though!

Might help you to know that Nikon now offers the Z30 with zero down financing. I just made a video about it if you want to learn more.
