Experience Gain is a video series of tips for Game Masters on how to get the most out of their roleplaying games.
In general I love making videos about art and creativity - whether the medium is comics, Dungeons and Dragons, or anything else! I upload a new video every Friday.
I also make custom content for Dungeons & Dragons available on the DM's Guild here: www.dmsguild.com/browse.php?a...

My party split and the barb didn't rage when they got ambushed.. split. I've been trying to figure out a Shadowfell campaign for them to "Fall into" in death, revolving around trying to find a path back to the mortal realm. All while dealing with Shadowfell quests, of course.

Thanks for the video! Looking for a good place for my lich to hide a phylactery and assemble an undead army. This is an interesting idea… raven queen probably won’t be happy though.

Can you do a video on orcs? The culture, mindset, and attitudes especially? Love your dnd work! Some of the best on UA-cam!

      1. Thank you so much! I really appreciate it :D
      2. Added it to the list! I think this would be a really fun series to do for the races of D&D! Are you hoping from a DM's perspective or a player's? Obviously there's overlap, just wondering where your interest lies!

Both really, I dm and play (but enjoy writing more)

So I guess to help with dming more than playing, but I guess to be a good dm, you have to have a players perspective (I now see the whole meaning of why you said there's obvious overlap lol)

@@leviberry8105 Yeah, exactly! I've noted this down - I have some other videos I've already planned / am working on, but I've been jotting down notes for this for when I can get to it.

I always run the shadowfell as a plane of repression and muteness. Whatever a person's "personality center" is they are slowly pushed into always only feeling that single emotion, with any variation of that being an emotional extreme. So a person might express rage if they're a very angry person, but they also never stop feeling wrothful outside extreme emotional fluxes. Only the most strong willed creatures and individuals can keep their personality for any length of time, but they can always feel the weight of the shadowfell around them, and given long enough even they will break like a rock below a waterfall.

Great take on it - I think this is an awesome representation of the Shadowfell.

This was very interesting. I’m at endgame on the keep of the shadowfell, and players are resource depleted and almost certain to be defeated by Kalarel. This has given me ideas for what to do if it’s a tpk. Thanks.

are there ruling entities in the Shadowfell (like the winter and summer courts in the Fey wild)?

excellent video with tons of tips for running a game in the shadow fell. What are your thoughts about boosting spells and magic items that make you so radiant energy, which are opposite of the dominant energy in the shadowfell? Maybe with a cost, eg, using this type of magic makes it easier for the user to be identified/tracked

Very interesting video. Only question I have is, how would a group of players would find their way into the Shadowfell?

    • @ImaginaryJeremy
      @ImaginaryJeremy  4 роки тому +2

Few different possibilities. Established portals, perhaps a place where the Shadowfell is bleeding into the material plane, or hiring some wizard or group to shift them into that plane.
Key is giving them sufficient motivation to explore the options above or come up with new ideas. Lay some personal hooks for the characters that point to the shadowfell or seed some sort of legend based off the sorts of things your players are interested in.

I had my players stumble across the battlefield of Ypres while travelling the Shadowfell. They ended up in a trench with some British Tommies and came away with Lee Enfield .303 rifles!
