    Experience Gain is a video series of tips for Game Masters on how to run Dungeons & Dragons and other roleplaying games.
    In general I love making videos about art and creativity - whether the medium is comics, Dungeons and Dragons, or anything else! I upload a new video every Friday.
    I also make custom content for Dungeons & Dragons available on the DM's Guild here: www.dmsguild.c...

    For the content in this, you're extremely underrated when it comes to views and likes. This was super informative and kept a great pace.

    Personally I think D&D didn't go far enough with the feywild. I prefer the Chronicles of Darkness approach to fey, where you need a contract to even get the chance of survival in this world. Fire doesn't warm you, but will still burn you if you touch it, unless you've got a contract with either the fire itself, or the patron of the parcel of land you're residing upon. Food will not fill your stomach, unless you've got a contract with the owner of it. The world itself might look different depending on how your personal disposition is.

      Woa, that is a cool angle as well.

      That's even more extreme! Cool approach!

      @ Neil Goldman It is called "Changeling - The Lost". It's basically the rulebook for that specific subset of the "New World of Darkness" or "Chronicles of Darkness" games. You can get the PDF version on drivethroughrpg.com for $20. The World of Darkness books were always rather nice to read, with lots of stories and a more natural language when it comes to rules, so you might get something out of this even if you don't plan to play it. I'd still be hesitant to pay 20 bucks for a rulebook that I won't use, but you do you.
      I'm not sure if you need only this book to run a Changeling game though. There are references to "Chronicles of Darkness" - which is basically the core book of rules for the nWoD and contains rules for making the human that can then get transformed into the different supernatural creatures that roam the night, or who can stand defiantly against those creatures, depending on the game you want to play - but I haven't gone so deep into the rules that I can truly say if you definitely need both books to run a game.
      Oh, but if you're just looking for lore, you can check out the white wolf wiki page. It's quite nicely done, but you won't get all the stories of the books unfortunately, which really drive home the weird sensations of arcadia (the fey-realm in this system)

    This was brilliant. I always have been lost how to do this, but you made my party very very happy

    This video has been exceedingly helpful for me while I plan my next Pathfinder game creating a fey dimension homebrew. I really was inspired, thank you. I hope you make more videos like this one, about other planes and such. Ideas are great because they in themselves give birth to new ideas.

      Hey, Dan! Thanks for the kind comment! I have more videos planned (& some on this subject in particular) and will hopefully have a chance to work on them in the near future.

    Great video as always Jeremy!
    I love the new audio and video quality. It makes your vids even better.
    I hope you make a video similar to this on the Shadowfell

    I plan on my players unwittingly ending up in my own homebrew version of the feywild, or twilight forest, but needed some creative ideas to get me started. You did just that, wonderful video!

      Haha. One can only hope. I'll sacrifice some Fey goats to the algorithm gods.

    My players didn't realise it at the time (and I don't think they have now almost 2 years later) but they actually entered "the border regions" of the Feywild. When they left, 3 months had passed in game. They tripped out. LOL!

    Audio and video *WAY UP* there Jeremy! HOOZAHA!
    Also, inspiration for using the word "evocative"! :)
    I will finish watching in the morning... it is bed time for this old man! Cheers brother!

      Thanks, Keith! Glad you like the upgrade! Took a little long to put together & get the set-up ready haha, but excited for this new step. Not sure about the static though. Wondering if I should stay with this set up (despite the static) or go back to my old point&shoot until I get a new camera entirely to fix the static problem. Hope you dig the video!

    • @dreadmorg
      @dreadmorg 5 років тому +1

      I noticed the static at first, but as the video goes along, it either went away or I stopped hearing it. Not sure exactly how you set it all up, but there is noticeably less echo.
      One thing you could do if you wanted, is run the audio through something like Audacity and use the filters to normalise/reduce the white noise. It's another step for sure, but it can really clean things up.
      Over all though, I like the visual and audio aspects of this video. Nice job.

    • @ImaginaryJeremy
      @ImaginaryJeremy  5 років тому +1

      Thanks, Keith! I'll try to fix the audio issue. I know that it's a camera problem unfortunately. Once I'm able to get a new one it should be another leap forward. Glad you're feeling the improvement, though.

    Great content, man - still not a whole lot of quality D&D channels out there. Your enthusiasm shines through, makes it engaging.
    Maybe include some standard/recognizable introduction before you get into things a bit? Your starts feel a bit rushed. Otherwise, really good.

      @ImaginaryJeremy  5 років тому +1

      Thank you! I really appreciate it. Working on getting my video structure & quality to match my enthusiasm haha. That's good advice, too. I've toyed with different intros, but I'll try to hammer something out properly.

      Hey! You're right! I've been continually working on the audio quality, but production has never been my strong suit. I think you'll find it's gotten better in more recent videos. Trying to keep the progress going!
