This is the sad reality of weight loss. It’s not just people you don’t know that treat you differently, it’s your own family as well which is the hardest realization.
I can relate so badly to this, I went down from a 16-18 to 10-12 after uni and people started insulting my bigger body unprovoked expecting me to join in. Quite sad
I wound up losing a tonne of weight due to sickness…people cared more that I looked better not that I felt ill. I told my friend that before the weight loss, you know/ strongly speculate that you’re treated differently because people are rarely straightforward with it……But the change in treatment afterward broke my heart and belief in people completely. And if you’re dark skinned too girl …..At the end of the day, they love the new body but the person they disrespected lived in both. I’m so skeptical of people. On the flip side, I know the people that have loved me through all my shapes, sizes and skin tones love me fr. So even as the world treats me better now, I’ve seen so clearly through it. And it’s more than social, it’s jobs, it’s medical professionals, it’s the salary, it’s the difference between paying to get to the club or not, if someone holds a door or not, if people see you as a human and not an example of charity/ who they don’t want to be. I feel you on this. Wishing everyone a soul recovery- the body changes and eventually dies- but I hope you are loved dearly and valued completely.
I like your decision to not discuss your weight loss methods. There are tons of info online and many creators who disclose their methods. Bc it worked for you, doesn’t mean it will work well for all. That is why it is a personal decision and shouldn’t be based on what others have done. And yes, this is a very superficial world. Ppl judge u off of appearances, even those who say “it’s what’s in the inside that matters”….🧢 most of the time. That is also y it is important to love/accept you and make improvements for you…not for others
Thanks lovely, I completely agree the information is out there if people want it. And yes people can be so superficial but we need to not let it consume us
I really loved this video. I've lost 116lbs and went from a size 22 to a size 6. This is what I've noticed, men hold the door for me, clerks in stores like VS, free people and Nordstrom's approach me to offer to help. Before they would look at me and walk right past me. They figured that since I couldn't fit anything, that I was just looking. I had a group of women that I have hung out with for years, trips, new restaurants, and concerts. When I lost the weight, everything was "girl, you look great in that. You could have never worn that before". Then when a few men have approached me while we were out, one of them would actually say to the guy, "you should be so proud of her, she has lost over 120lbs!!" Just to let the guy know that I used to be a lot bigger. They were doing this out of spite, because they were always the ones that men would come and talk to, buy drinks for, or ask to dance. Even complaining that if I left, there would be no one to watch our table or purses. They treated me like I was invisible. They were the first ones I quickly cut out of my life. My 2 best friends that I love to death, have been beyond supportive ❤️ and so encouraging through all my life journeys. I just hate I didn't see them better much sooner because they hurt my feelings alot. 😢 They still follow me on Facebook and give me backhanded compliments all the time. I love me now and then, and now that I'm running 4 miles a day my outside body shows that I love me enough to match my love on the inside. ❤❤❤
you notice the difference in strangers as well as people you know and it’s eye opening. I think this is why people say once people lose weight they become “mean”. I don’t see it as mean. I see it as enforcing boundaries on people who treat me better (or worse) now than when i was 100 lbs heavier. I put myself first now and you can’t take advantage of me anymore. Of course they think I’m being mean now. SMH
I think people taking on this stance that once you’ve lost the weight, they can “finally” tell you exactly how they thought about your beauty and your body pre-weight loss is awful. What’s worse is thinking that this is somewhat okay because you don’t look like that anymore. It’s disgusting behaviour. People will really foam at the mouth to off load every nasty thought and feeling they had about you once the “problem” is gone…
Zogie I am in awe of your transparency and truth. I went from a size 18-20 to size 8-10 and the way people treat me is so insane so much so I had to go therapy to talk about this “new” person I have become. I have learnt to keep my distance from toxic people, places and things ❤❤❤ Keep shining queen 👸🏾
I love the way you never stop honouring the past version, heavier version of you. Goals 🎯 But please, allow me to also applaud the current version of you. Losing weight requires discipline and commitment, but so it does keeping the weight off. Overall, congratulations to all versions of Zogie 😊
I have gained a lot of weight from having a medical condition. I had clots in my lungs. And in March I had surgery to remove the clots. My ex heard I had this surgery he was more concerned I gained weight and needed a walker. He literally asked me if I considered weight loss surgery. I even though I just had surgery on my chest. I feel better. I can breathe. I do want to lose weight because I fear the clot’s and my knees. But it’s was crazy that he was more concerned about my weight than the clot’s in my lung. Thank you for sharing ❤❤❤
I didn’t know I needed to hear this. Because I genuinely believ I love myself 😢 but when you said lose weight out of love/because you live yourself. Shew… that made me as some tough questions about, why I’m doing what I’m doing. Also, looking at how people around you move when you start to fit their mould vs before when they merely tolerated you. Wow 😯 Thank you. ❤😊 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ all the hearts to you, Zogie!
Sis, when I tell you I know what you’re talking about….HA! When you loose weight the way people treat you different is maaaaad! It makes you doubt people who speak to you now, as a slim/slimmer person, especially new people because would they have spoken to you if you were still fat? Its crazy! Anyway Zoggie, love the way you keep the same energy. Your truly beautiful in and out and always was ❤
Zoogie, I watched the WHOLE VIDEO and I want to say thank you!!! There is no need to change up your words it was immaculate. I started my weight loss journey starting at 102 kg. Lost 11 kg and went straight back to 100. I realised from your video that I started my journey with love but slowly regressed back to hatred, and with that, the binge eating and lack of belief set right in. My trainer has given me such kind words even said some points you've mentioned. Your video has inspired me to love me in the NOW, not at the finish line. God bless you Zoogie you were great then, and you are still great now ❤.
I appreciate you lovely honestly! It’s so important to continue the journey with love because that is what will keep you pushing and not let you fall off. So happy my video has been impactful, keep pushing lovely you’ve got this!
People that have had grow ups in life are always the people with the best personalities. I was a shy little ugly duckling to most of my peers in middle and high school. Now my DMs are flooded with people that mysteriously "always liked me " 😂
So sad how society treats you different according to your proximity to slimness. It’s truly you vs you in this life journey and I’m so proud that you chose to do this for yourself and no body else!
💛 you say so amazingly what I feel. As someone who was big, then lost weight, then got big again..I’ve seen it, how the world changes towards you is mind blowing.
💚💚💚💚💚💚 SIS! nothing but facts, I felt what you said in such a real way. Thanks for being so candid and vulnerable with us. You were beautiful before this journey, beautiful now and always will be. What you said about loving yourself is so true. I had a friend who was always beautiful, (still is) she got the first surgery, lost a huge amount of weight & wasn't happy with her body. She's now 5/6 surgeries deep and still not happy with her body. She looks great at all sizes but she needs to work on the internal so she can love herself more. ❤
Yes, so much rubbish people will talk after you have a drastic change in your weight . I've lost 100lbs and I'm dealing with the same thing. You learn a lot about people and yourself when you put yourself first and start not caring what the heck they have to say..
This video was spectacular! I’m on a weight loss journey and I’m officially going to completed after many many years! And, like you said it’s super important not to have resentment or bitterness to the way society moves and acts toward bigger bodies and smaller bodies. Thank you so much for sharing. You are beautiful! And here is my heart.❤❤❤❤
Good for you Zogie! I’ve realized that a lot of people that lose weight tend to dissociate from their bigger self i.e they try to make it seem like they were not even human when they were bigger, using statements like “I’ve just started to live” etc, I usually find it weidddd asf.
Thank you lovely that’s why I didn’t make a video over explaining my reason to lose weight. I have never felt like you need to put down your past self to congratulate your current body
@@sanaaniz again weird ASF! 🙄it seems that many of you are feeling a significant change, which might be largely due to increased social acceptance by peers and men, rather than any fundamental transformation in who you are.
well, speaking for myself at someone who’s biggest weight was 250 and I’m currently now 213. I don’t hate my bigger body. I still have love for my old body because at the end of the day it’s my body and I should love it either way, but I also understand why those people feel the way they feel because the way the world treats you when you’re bigger is insane and some people truly feel like their body stopped them from living their life, which is understandable.
You’ve done it for yourself, that’s truly beautiful to hear. God has given you such a great inner power that will make you archive all things you have put your mind to✨ Keep being you Zogie and in the process I pray you’re always proud of all versions of you🙌🏾
Congrats on your weight loss.I’m bigger now but people treat me the same as when I was smaller. But I don’t deal with fake people so that could be why not much changed. It’s great that you loss the weight for yourself and nothing more.Great video!!
I’ve watched the video from beginning to end! 💜 Everything you stated was very on point, authentic, and unfiltered. I’m so glad you shared very candidly. Thank you 🙏🏾💜
Girl, I never seen none of your videos before but I was supposed to hear this message as I’m on a health journey with a lot of weight to lose THANK YOU 🙏 I started a channel but kept stopping for most of the reason you mentioned hear I just subscribed ❤
The key is to continue to love ourselves whatever weight we are. Eating healthy, drinking lots of water, exercising, breathing fresh air if you can and having little or no stress helps our bodies. 👍👏 I must lose weight for my health sake.
BARS ZOGIE! I adore your transparency and consistency. God is using you is a great way because I definitely needed to hear this message. The pandemic did a number on me weight-wise, but I am taking it one day at a time and loving me back to a healthier me ❤ Love you, Zogie Zogie! 🥰
Zogie, you are amazing and truly beautiful...inside and out! And I'm not saying that because you lost weight. I used to be 100kg most of my adult life in my 20s and now im 62kg and life has changed so much. I notice a lot of what you're talking about in this video...especially how people react to me and treat me. Thin privilege/ pretty privilege is so real. It's almost like society saw me as less of a person when i was bigger. It makes me really sad. Society is messed up.😢 i am learning to love my body and undo the damage that life put on me. Thank you for sharing your story and thoughts with us. ❤
I had the opposite happen to me. I gained a bunch of weight l. Before weight gain, people were really friendly to me, they would smile and open doors. Men were friendlier and women meaner. Now that I’ve gained weight I feel invisible and men are mean, women are a mixed bag some are nice others are mean.
I absolutely LOVE your videos!! I subscribed long before you even started showing up looking different! You are a beautiful woman inside and out, but your MIND and PERSONALITY is what's beautiful & made me stick around and click that subscribe button!!! I'm convinced you are the friend I always needed, or the friend everyone needs really 😭. Not everyone, because some people just don't deserve us, ever...but you know what I mean lol! I loved this video & your talking points!!! A lot of people don't talk about the therapy needed after dramatic weight loss, and the resentment you have when you see how people treat you differently. It can sometimes take a mental toll and make you into a bad person, or want to withdraw from society. But you are right, when you love yourself through the change, you stay grounded in a way that the noise doesn't get to you or change you. Stay beautiful & keep shining!!!
Thank you for your passionate honesty. I've had an accordioned weight history all of my life and I can relate to every nuance and example you gave as to how people react to your physical representation. We life in a very shallow world and when you are a weight fluctuate you can pinpoint how people treat you to include men/boys, friends, relatives, associates. I applaud your dissertation and appreciate all of the points you illustrated and please know that you are not alone.
💗💗💗 Thank you for this video. My weight has been up and down and its a struggle.... so i have an affirmation on my mirror that says "I love my body, at any size." which I look at everyday.
Great reflection points and yes “Past” Zogie is still the same Zogie but she was the fighter, it was she who was the warrior and deserves accolades ✨☺️
One of my favourite channels. I hadnt seen you for months, then suddenly you popped up. You will alwsys be beaituful no matter your size. You are gorgeous and your personality is 5 star 🌟✨️✨️🌟 ✨️
💜💜💜 You were on point! Especially regarding the fake friendships! Thank you so much for being so vulnerable and sharing your experiences. Beauty starts from within and you got it, girl! 💜💜💜💜
It’s been a while since I’ve been on your channel, but you’ve been on a journey. It’s relatable I’ve been where you’re at, but it’s great you did it for you and not anyone else. You were beautiful before and beautiful now
Bro you so right zogie one thing about you you open your moth pure truth and wisdom comes out❤🎉 All my people going through physical weight change stand up for yourselves you have nothing to be ashamed of ❤
Yesss i've lost 50+ lbs and counting and this is so real. people are SO shallow that's why i've decided i'm just going to lose the weight for ME. and only ME.
❤ I really like the part about if someone is a true friend than that friendship doesn't change when your weight changes. If you notice something it's off afterwards it's because you weren't paying attention previously.
I love this !! Thank you for being real on this because it’s so true. Im currently on my weight loss journey as well and doing my best to continue to honor and love myself at every stage ❤
Been watching you for a few years but never commented. I have to say this really resonated with me because when I was heavy and working out, it was super hard, and I would get ridiculed even in the gym. Afterwards came the compliments but I low key resented those compliments because I was the same person! Another point is how our bodies become works of art. Love it! You hit on so much truth. Anyway, congrats, Zogie and cheers from the U.S. via JA 🇯🇲 🎉❤
I'm on my 1000000th attempt of a weightloss journey, in my late 20s and my mindset this time is different for sure but seeing videos like this are what I needed to see, thank you Zogie
Hey Zogie, this is one of your best videos ever. You put a whole new spin on approaching weight loss and love for one's former and present self. Your confidence is contagious 😊
Zogie 💕💕 I’m always so in awe of you and so proud of you. I’m grateful you’re sharing this and people are actually listening. You’ve always been the realest
❤ I watched from start to finish💖. Its the weirdest thing when people switch up on you. When you make changes to yourself then all of a sudden you receive compliments, and attention that you never had before, speaking for myself it makes me feel uncomfortable and disgusted. And thats why its really important to make the changes for yourself and not for anyone. Also if you hate the former version of yourself, then you have now become just like the persons who ignored you when you were your former self. And if you pay attention to your actions, you will see that you are treating the persons who look like your former self with the same disregard.
❤ I’m at the start of my weight loss and have shifted weight a lot but I kinda wanna make a big decision for a more drastic shift, and was always fearful of the life after that decision . Thanks for sharing
I have been following a few years now. You're so dope. I've been actively losing weight for a year now. The mental is the most difficult. I stopped taking pictures. I didn't hate myself but I was hurting inside.
Omg this video what amazing 👏 honestly everything you said was stop on. I'm so happy for you girl. You were beautiful before and beautiful now your zoogie and that's that ❤
You’ve done great. It’s not because they did or didn’t believe in you. It’s because people only recognise progress and success. They don’t care about the process. The same thing applies to everything in life. People won’t care about how you studied in preparation of your exams but they’ll congratulate you if you do well. And if you fail, some will mock you. It is as simple as that. Please give me a clue of how you lost your weight. You look amazing. You don’t even look like you lost all that weight. Your skin elasticity is perfect. Please heal your sis. Why did you do?
Been there… Takes strength to share this… For what made it worse is when your partner loses weight and they look at you like your not good enough… I had someone ask, "What you going to do? "❤❤❤
💚 Great video and excellent points 👍🏾! I always thought you were a fashionista and travel blogger and nothing about that has changed. Your personality drew me in way back and makes me continue to watch; that and your terrific content. 👏🏾👏🏾
The point is that looks matter, regardless of how we feel about it. If you’re obese that speaks about your choices and will power and people judge you just for that.
The ŕeality is, although people do have preferences, generally having alot of weight is not viewed favourably (western world). Although the world has changed, it is still somewhat superficial, what you look like matters. Society isn't particularly accommodating of big builds/plus size. Generally people don't really care about you either way, because your weight/issues are not their problem. Society isn't always kind, alot of people aren't happy, that's why they are mean to others. However, if you loose weight and you appear more attractive to the majority, people will treat you differently and they will have something to say, but that's their problem not yours.❤ Sometimes the changes you make, highlights the inadequacies in others, people are always making comparisons.
Completley agree, I also think people most know weightloss is no easy feat, so they are also somewhat in awe of the accomplishment and they are curious as to how you achieved such a change. People commenting is not always meant in negative light they are obvs noticing the change. Is it wrong to ackknowledge it? Eitherway it's such a personal journey women of all cultures are constantly battling with this topic. Stay strong happy and healthy beautiful ladies.
@@delightfular9200Definitely agree, yeah it's amazing to see the changes. I love seeing the before and after pics and I know it's a nice feeling to be able to wear an outfit you really like or even the outfit looking the way you want it to. I think we can agree that we want to be the best version of ourselves. Keep up the good work Zogie de gemini.
Bcuz she’s tall I have been 76-80 kg all my life (I’m 20) but I looked like I’m 65 kg that’s a blessing in disguise’s because your look good but not healthy at all
Can never relate, but surely empathise with what you are saying and gained a thing or two about self love. If you can/haven't already, I would recommend writing a letter to your 16 year old self and another letter to your 5/01/20 UNEMPLOYED AFTER UNIVERSITY JOBLESS BROKE DEPRESSION MUST WATCH self that you just uploaded. Rooting for you (heart emoji).
Zogie you look awesome! I'm glad you're getting to see what it's like on both sides. You are so right about you can't please people, fat or skinny. I've been 'too skinny' and 'too fat', so I understand what you're saying 100% 😂
Regardless of how people treat you differently etc. You have to take care of your body or things will start to backtrack. My highest weight that my body and genetics could bear was 250 lbs. (5ft8) I notice the difference in how I feel and I never want to weigh that much again. I recently gained 20 pounds back and I feel not good…
Inspiring words young lady 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. I love the way you switch from English to Naija to Patois 😂. Men not being the “prize” ?🤔 You may change that mindset later on, it’s about understanding how men actually think and move, they are wired visually rather than mentally. It’s long but men actually say it as you said about “acceptance “.
On point…It’s true about society not being happy, some people will always find a fault and it’s our job to LOVE OURSELVES ❤. I say this as someone who’s always been skinny. The grass ain’t greener here either 🤦🏾♀️ sure you’re seen as more desirable … so tell me why people would still try to bully me.. ‘your anorexic, do you eat?, you need to put on weight or you’ll look better with more fat on your bones … Words of wisdom , thanks Zogie.
This is the sad reality of weight loss. It’s not just people you don’t know that treat you differently, it’s your own family as well which is the hardest realization.
I'm hardest on myself at 200 pounds though I look like 175 or 180. Other pple don't care as much as I do in reality.

What did you do to loose that much weight?
This is a wonderful message. I had VSG in 2022, lost 120 pounds, and experienced all of the same things.
This was the realest most genuine and authentic video about weight loss I’ve seen
Congratulations on becoming more healthy and you always been a baddie doll. 😊🌸
Thanks lovely!
I have never felt like you need to put down your past self to congratulate your current body
um cause some of us actually felt like that when we were bigger ..and ima stand 10 toes on what I just said because no one was in my body but me
@@sanaaniz again weird ASF! 🙄it seems that many of you are feeling a significant change, which might be largely due to increased social acceptance by peers and men, rather than any fundamental transformation in who you are.
@@sanaaniz Your feelings are valid, and I respect them. However, my perspective is that it's WEIRD ASF 🙄
well, speaking for myself at someone who’s biggest weight was 250 and I’m currently now 213.
God has given you such a great inner power that will make you archive all things you have put your mind to✨ Keep being you Zogie and in the process I pray you’re always proud of all versions of you🙌🏾
Thank you so much!
Welldone Zogie slow and steady wins the race🥂❤
Congrats on your weight loss.I’m bigger now but people treat me the same as when I was smaller. But I don’t deal with fake people so that could be why not much changed. It’s great that you loss the weight for yourself and nothing more.Great video!!
I completely understand and I'm glad no one has switched up on you sis!
The pandemic did a number on me weight-wise, but I am taking it one day at a time and loving me back to a healthier me ❤
Love you, Zogie Zogie! 🥰
Thank you so much!! wishing you nothing but the best sis!
@ZogieDeGemini awww we love u!
Thank you for discussing the other stuff around weight and weight loss especially the switch up
Your welcome sis!
I love this channel, no one can put your channel in a box. 💙
I love this esp the artwork comment, and the bigger you being the one that deserved all the kudos. Trueeee !
Weight loss is very personal and starts from the inside, then manifest on the outside. Self-love is the best thing any of us can do. 🎉 💛
🇵🇸 ❤️💚🖤🤍🇵🇸
Leaving these hearts for Palestine x
Thank you UA-cam, Universe and all in between.. this is the EXACT video I needed to see 🥺
Girl, thank you so much for sharing! 🥹🫶🏾🩷
It’s been a while since I’ve been on your channel, but you’ve been on a journey. It’s relatable I’ve been where you’re at, but it’s great you did it for you and not anyone else. You were beautiful before and beautiful now
❤❤❤ you spoke a word like always my girl! Loved you then, love you now, love you always! You're a real one through and through 💕
Gurl, we came along way, congratulations well done, you are on fire❤❤❤
I LOVE your energy. Haha! I so love your Gemini personality.
No lies told!❤ especially about the loose skin. But I am learning to love my body just as I am.
Bro you so right zogie one thing about you you open your moth pure truth and wisdom comes out❤🎉
All my people going through physical weight change stand up for yourselves you have nothing to be ashamed of ❤
Because when you care for yourself, your body, your being other people tend to show more care for you to.
But she’s always been herself
❤️ I agree if you hate yourself losing weight will not make you love yourself.
Wow, you always tap into conversations that not alot of people express ! thank you so much
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Am a new subbie. Vulnerable, transparent honest. 🧡🧡
YESSS! To this entire message! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yesss i've lost 50+ lbs and counting and this is so real. people are SO shallow that's why i've decided i'm just going to lose the weight for ME. and only ME.
Omg you look so different I knew I recognized your voice when I clicked on your channel
aww thanks hun
❤ I really like the part about if someone is a true friend than that friendship doesn't change when your weight changes. If you notice something it's off afterwards it's because you weren't paying attention previously.
This video is power 🔥❤
Watch to the end and loved every second of it 👌🏼🥰
Wow❤❤am proud of you
Zogie i loved this you dropped some real truth bombs. I noticed this the first time I lost weight familial relations comments chaai🙆🏾♀️
When I saw your thumbnail I immediately thought, you look good in both pictures.
Not to men tbh or most folks
I definitely seen how people treat me differently because I lost a few pounds. It’s mostly from males. Feels weird, I get sexualized more.
You told no LIE aunty! 💜💜💜
whos aunty pls
I'm on my 1000000th attempt of a weightloss journey, in my late 20s and my mindset this time is different for sure but seeing videos like this are what I needed to see, thank you Zogie
You should research intuitive eating. I’m still on my journey but it has helped me the most so far and I’ve tried many diets lol
@@Mam-njbI will look into this thank you ❤
Hey Zogie, this is one of your best videos ever. You put a whole new spin on approaching weight loss and love for one's former and present self. Your confidence is contagious 😊
Girlllll I've lost almost 100lbs and I 100% agree with this whole video 👏🏾well 👏🏾 said
Zogie 💕💕 I’m always so in awe of you and so proud of you.
You were beautiful before and beautiful now your zoogie and that's that ❤
Great video. All accurate ❤❤
Glad you think so!
@@ZogieDeGemini ❤❤
You’ve done great. It’s not because they did or didn’t believe in you. It’s because people only recognise progress and success. They don’t care about the process. The same thing applies to everything in life. People won’t care about how you studied in preparation of your exams but they’ll congratulate you if you do well. And if you fail, some will mock you. It is as simple as that. Please give me a clue of how you lost your weight. You look amazing. You don’t even look like you lost all that weight. Your skin elasticity is perfect. Please heal your sis. Why did you do?
I just found your channel. Love, love, love the contents of this video 💜💜🔥 I wanted it to continue. Very empowering Sister 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you. You are correct in every word tonight. You had my attention from the beginning to the end. I never lacked attention. You are the best!
I love this message, Thank you Zogie!!
The point is that looks matter, regardless of how we feel about it. If you’re obese that speaks about your choices and will power and people judge you just for that.
You are always on point Zogie!
However, if you loose weight and you appear more attractive to the majority, people will treat you differently and they will have something to say, but that's their problem not yours.❤
Sometimes the changes you make, highlights the inadequacies in others, people are always making comparisons.
Welldone Zoggie for clearing up for people where the congratulations should be aimed at. People should talk about this more
210kg? You never look that big, Congratulations on your weight loss
Bcuz she’s tall I have been 76-80 kg all my life (I’m 20) but I looked like I’m 65 kg that’s a blessing in disguise’s because your look good but not healthy at all
Yea i loss weight and the way men have changed its like wow .
‘your anorexic, do you eat?, you need to put on weight or you’ll look better with more fat on your bones …
Words of wisdom , thanks Zogie.
