had the honor of guarding “FLAG COUNTRY “You really had to be squared away to work there. The respect the SR. officer showed us was unbelievably. By my third shift he know about me than I did.
7:27 "you need to flip that one button sailor....little more specific chief...theirs only about 32,653 on this one damn panel and I got out of school last week" bet that convo happened a couple times
GM 2nd class here. I was on the Midway from 1971 to 1975. Took part in the evac of S Vietnam, operation Frequent Wind. The coast off S Vietnam looked like one huge parking lot.
The areas have been sterilized. All classified equipment was removed. What you see in this video is equipment so old as to be antiques. I was Stationed aboard USS Blue Ridge LCC-19 Flagship of Commander Seventh Fleet. One pier over from the USS Midway in Yokosuka Japan.
Thank you for visiting the bed room officer. But the bed its very obsolete with metal. Its better with design style japanese the bed its not heaving inside the bed room with the door japanese not havy very quiet. The plaid its better blue dark navy. The design very simple not heavy.🇫🇷🗼🇺🇸😀🎼🎻🎶⚓🛳💖💖💖💖💖

Scary fact is, I remember 90% of that gear and the ship. Especially the goat locker, lol.

The video panned so fast it made me dizzy. I had to stop watching.
agree. That was terrible video work. The camera was never fixed on anything for even a single second.
Are we getting a tour from somebody that was on a ship from 1990 to 1991
With such a large crew did the enlisted crew have to share bunks?
Yes! I recently toured the Midway and in the tour, I passed a bunch of bunks with info answering your question :)
@@depthstriderbricksstudios2754 The word you are looking for is Hot Bunking.
Or called hot racking
No. Each sailor has their own small rack 3 high with about 20-40 people per compartment.
No hot racking on the Midway. It was my first ship in 1976.@@depthstriderbricksstudios2754
