I like that you included the UV RR and had 2 GE-70 tonners painted up in their scheme. You have some really nice representations of the OW's bridges too. A view of your overall track plan would have been nice to see also, maybe you can do an updated video and include it as both of these videos are 6-yrs old now. I also like the steel pullman baggage car painted up in the OW's grey & yellow scheme. @17:30 I like the FT units painted in the triple passenger scheme too. Nice to see someone modeling a rare railroad.
I'm overwhelmed at all the details and beauty and photography. I started my HO layout in earnest back in 1976 at the age of 27. It was a time when you could get a powered diesel for $12.95 and up. It's all been sitting in boxes since 1980. I might still have a walthers catalog from 1979. Life happens.
Coal was delivered to our backyard building a in Port Jervis, NY. We sold it by the bag at 100 pounds and delivered a ton by truck to homes. I need to describe the process for a book I am writing but iI am finding the details difficult Thank you for the visual help.
Years later as an adult I would stop at the Do Drop Inn which with friends that rode ATV's. The Do Drop Inn was just at the north end of the Cadosia yard. The owner of the Do Drop worked for the O&W from 1947 until they closed up shop.
Born in 1947, I grew up about a block away from the O&W massive repair yard in Middletown NY. In about the third grade, we even took a field trip to the repair yard and visited the welding shop in operation That of course would be prohibited by insurance companies today. BTW, the the massive O&W passenger station in Middletown still stands but,, is now in a massive state of disrepair . Middletown was also a major stop for the Erie RR for both freight and passengers
Sad to see the station never made it to restoration and reuse. That Middletown complex was so large, that including it on a model railroad is very difficult.
WOW! Very nice, I was 4 years old in 1957 when the O&W stopped operating. I do however remember the Cadosia yards tracks. Friends of my parents lived about 200 feet from the Cadosia yard just below the Cadosia Depot. We lived about a mile North of the yard to the west of the tracks on top of the mountain. Our access road was in Vitale's Lumber yard. We had a lumber wagon, and my older brothers would tell me. At times they had a hard time getting across the tracks with a load of logs on the wagon, the horses would pull and the wagon wheels would slide along the tracks because the wood wasn't quite tall enough for the wheels to just roll over. When the wagon was empty it was much easier and it was going up the embankment to cross the tracks. I remember my Dad saying here comes Susie, when the O&W Diesel would blow their horns passing the base of the mountain. We could hear them from on top of the mountain. What beautiful memories for me, a few years ago I tried to find the tunnel the O&W went through going to Fishs Eddy and East Branch. I knew I was close to the tunnel but never found the opening. Thank you, it does look like the Cadosia Yard. The Cadosia creek trestle my Dad help cut it down in the early 1960's when the started putting the new 4 lane for route 17
Some "modelers license " here; the O&Ws Delhi branch started started at Walton and the Unidilia Valley interchange was at the end of the New Berlin branch that was north of Sidney. At one time there was a train that started at Delhi, entered the main line at Walton, ran north to Randallsville and entered the Utica branch and proceeded to Utica. In later years the service was maintained by a gas electric car.
Great layout and video! I lived near the O& W tracks as a kid in the green ridge plot section of Scranton Near East Parker St. and Amelia Ave. Amazing stretch of track . In roughly one quarter mile there were four different type bridges! Sadly I am unable to find any photos. I’d love to model it in N scale.
As an old timer who well remembers the O&W I can really appreciate this video with the familiar locations as well as the colorful diesels and unique steam power. Well done...
What....no depiction of the massive O&W repair yards at Middletown NY.....complete with the round house and turn table? I grew up about one block from there. :) It was a three RR city then.....O&W, Erie and the " Middletown & NJ RR". Now we have none.
Love the Camel Back switcher...
cheers
Now over 20,000 views. Very glad to see many fans of a railroad that was abandoned in 1957.

There is a newer video with a track plan and detailed information about how the railroad is operated.
What an interesting line the o&w was I have watched some actual footage of the line in the 50s

How?

SWEET!
Great details..ihave the book"to the mountains by rail"
Thanks for watching. This model railroad is a labor of love built over decades.

And I am sure he had great stories. You could see the pride the employees took in the railroad, which never was very prosperous.
The O&W did not have a branch line from Walton to the Unadilla Valley railroad. The branch line was
Check out Volume 3 where George explains his choice to move some things around to fit his space.
Can you do more of Nyo&w plz

4:36. Left vid here. Can't get into wallpaper backdrop and buildings.
Thanks for watching -- over time George's skills improved. The wallpaper dates back to the beginning days of the railroad.

Now at 10,000 views. Thanks to all that have enjoyed watching this video.
You Forgot Delhi, Ny On Your Map
Thanks for watching. Every model railroader is forced to make decisions and some things cannot be included.
THANK YOU...for sharing.
I have a recipt book from 1883 from the new york ontario and western railway in mint condition if anyone would be interested in buying it

Is the M&NJ gone?

Now there's a road you don't see modeled that often!
You'd be surprised.
Looks like you got a fairly large layout. How big is it? Enjoyed the video very much.
