This layout should be in the museum or school. Kids can see this. History this is outstanding even the telephone poles are weathered the buildings all the vehicle vehicles are period correct. I wonder how many years it took to build this?
My goodness, the attention to detail is unbelievable. someone's patience is outstanding. The buildings are superb as well as the scenery. It had to be thrilling as each area completed. outstanding job!
The visuals from the train passing by the scenery made me think of a bygone era when a hobo during the great depression era would have been watching from a railcar he'd have hopped onto traveling from one town to another or a passenger looking out of the window of a passenger car to wherever they were going. Simply breathtaking !
There is absolutely spectacular detail in that set. The buildings, bridges, hills, scenery are all just outstanding. A lot went into this. It is really well done.
I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. THIS IS NOT A MODEL RAILROAD. THIS IS A RAILROAD IN ITS OWN WORLD. THE EYE FOR DETAIL IS UNBELIEVABLE. PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEOS BUT IN 1080p I'm now a subscriber.
Man, I have seen the printed pictures of his layout for years in the magazines ... but this video actually 'takes' you there! What a layout! What scenery! And the sound effects are the icing on the cake! Super nice! ;)
John Bellucci WOW the time that has been spent to build this incredible layout, This layout is over-the-top a true Labor of love ! Is this set open to the public?
Fantastic. I love detail on my layout, but this one will have me take a second look at what I can improve in the morning. The Scott Joplin type music and the click clack of the wheels adds a whole other dimension. Great job.
Should you believe in past lives, George easily could have been Michelangelo. This is by far the finest piece of art in any dimension or genre. The video work is also top notch....could have been longer. We model rails rarely get respect beyond our quite small and rather parsimonious community for our artistic accomplishments.....I'm hoping this becomes the exception and many of the non-model railroad world can see this fabulous pike. Great work!!!!
This is awesome. A great video of a great model railroad layout. I heard it is almost impossible to get a tour of this railrod layout. This is very well done and should hopefully satisfy all of us who will never see it in person.
on a scale of 1 to 10 you have to give this at least a 100+. I love everything about this it is so detailed I feel I am on the train in real time. Would love to see some videos during the construction period and some brick building techniques
Although the video lasts less then 8 minutus, It took me more than 1,5 hour to watch the video. Why, I had to pause every few seconds to watch the amazing details.
Even more...Rod Stewart (yes the singer) is a master model railroader with a huge layout and he has said that George Sellios is HIS idol...lol. He said he hopes George doesn't sing, or he's out of business. Rod's layout has been featured in Model Railroader twice so far.
Absolutely superb modeling and video to match! I love how the "on board" views from a traveling train along with the dubbed sound combine with incredible scenery to create such great atmosphere.
absolutely superior, your detail is so perfect its like opening a window to the past where there life continued until now when the window was open, and we are now being transported back. I model the same time era, but I cant do brick buildings and I dont want kits on my layout Great job and I love the track sound of the cars as they pass by.
I 💘 LOVE IT !! I have been shrunk down to H.O. scale, have boarded a passenger consist, and I am touring the new world of Franklin, looking through the window at all the gritty industrial gloom of the finest model railroad ever to exist...my dreams at night will never be the same ! Thank you for the fantastic photography and a video I can watch over...and over again without any sense of boredom.....✌😁
Having built several layouts, none anyway close to this one but I can just imagine the time and cost of this project. There is a railroad model club in Shreveport La. They have built a great layout and gladly share it with others. The club took the layout ,which was probably 30 x 60 or close, to a hospital and set it up so the kids could watch it and be free from their concerns . It was discovered that the kids in wheel chairs could not see very well. The men who set the layout up went to a department store, bought more pipe and spent the night replacing the taller legs. All the kids now had a perfect view. There was cost involved as well as time. No matter, this is what model railroadeds do.
Beautiful work, and all very life like. although the diesel switcher is out of place those didn't appear in the 20's.... But the rest is simply Amazing and beautiful.
The video and the layout are impressive in every way. Layout detail, depth, sense of an era, etc. ingenious viewpoint from the window of a train. Music was subtle so as not to interfere with the great sound system, while still adding a touch of nostalgic flavor. Excellent job. 5 out of 5. Thanks for sharing.
Incredible! This is the perfect combination of fine scale modeling and theater/movie set piece. The structures, streets, tracks, everything blends convincingly and the weathering of a run down town is spot-on. Does anyone know the location and time frame of this layout? Looks early/mid 1930s to me, which would be during the Great Depression.
Great Model Railroads did three videos on this layout over 15 years. They are great. You will have to find them and copy. K & B bough rights rereleased first one and stopped. George explains how he did it all. George S is Fine Scale Miniatures.
awesome, love the time period. i get Motion Sick @ 'the drop of a hat', i could only watch for less than a minute because the camera was zooming along....maybe i will try it later @ slow speed!!!
Try slowing the playback speed. Hit the "gear" on the bottom of the video, and reset playback to 0.75 or 0.5. (Don't forget to reset it when you watch something else!)
Imagine you owned the world's largest fine scale scale building company right next door. The Franklin and South Manchester was also the initials of that company. Imagine you had a staff of scale model builders that would build whatever you asked for as examples of the kits you offered. Imagine you decided to build a layout to showcase your models. It would be disappointing if the F&SM wasn't one of the most detailed model railroads ever produced.
It's rare that your lifes work happens to be doing something you love...That said - George, what do you when you need to get away from model railroading???
Tremendous talent, knowledge, energy and work, capturing perfectly the depressing character of the real thing.
Some of the best passenger view shots I've seen in model railroad videos. Spectacular video of a fantastic layout!
Masterpiece
Comments are inadequate to express how mindblowing this is.
By far my most favorite model railroad ever..his attention to detail is outstanding..
This layout should be in the museum or school. Kids can see this. History this is outstanding even the telephone poles are weathered the buildings all the vehicle vehicles are period correct. I wonder how many years it took to build this?
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE the time & MONEY it musta took to build this WOW. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
Exceptional detail, but what really does it are all the mini scenes. This layout is just SPECTACULAR!!
Excellent. True inspiration.
Incredible!!!!!!!! What an amazing layout!!!!!!!!
This layout takes some beating. Without doubt, the best I've ever seen
My goodness, the attention to detail is unbelievable. someone's patience is outstanding. The buildings are superb as well as the scenery. It had to be thrilling as each area completed. outstanding job!
This is incredible. Superb. Top of the class. I’ve watched thousands of layout videos. This is the best work I’ve ever seen.
Fantastic. Most beautiful layout i´ve ever seen and excellent filmed.
Greatly impressed by the aging of railroad stock and buildings. Incredible attention to detail.
All I can say is I don’t know what to say. I can’t believe that a layout such as that is possible, yet there it is! Exceptional and brilliant.
Mind blowing detail, layout perfection !
The most gorgeous layout I have ever seen !
Incredible work. Love the shots from the passenger view too. Giving that eye level views, it brings the details right out.
The visuals from the train passing by the scenery made me think of a bygone era when a hobo during the great depression era would have been watching from a railcar he'd have hopped onto traveling from one town to another or a passenger looking out of the window of a passenger car to wherever they were going. Awesome depth of detail.
Fantastic work. 👍
What a fabulous layout. So real
The realism the details most one of the amazing pieces of work I ever seen
This layout is insanly amazing!

This layout has a really nice back-in-time, aged feel to it. Very well done.
I've never seen a layout with that much detail beautiful.
This should win an award!!!
Thank you for the train ride back in time.
Truly spectacular.
Fantastic. I love detail on my layout, but this one will have me take a second look at what I can improve in the morning. The Scott Joplin type music and the click clack of the wheels adds a whole other dimension. Great job.
Absolutely incredible. A piece of art.

Gritty, funky, quirky! I love it! ❤️
Phenomenal display
Wow just wow. Every detail conciderd. Beautifull

Every now and then you actually get to see the very best.
Still one of the best layouts I seen.
Although the video lasts less then 8 minutus, It took me more than 1,5 hour to watch the video. Why, I had to pause every few seconds to watch the amazing details.
Yes, the best I’ve seen, too. So very realistic of the time period and nothing out of sync with the era.
Obviously George Selios must be a fan of the late John Allen's famous Gorre and Daphetid RR.
This is brilliant 1940's urban scenery to the nth degree.
Did you see the sway-backed G&D stock car? 7:57
Even more...Rod Stewart (yes the singer) is a master model railroader with a huge layout and he has said that George Sellios is HIS idol...lol. He said he hopes George doesn't sing, or he's out of business. Rod's layout has been featured in Model Railroader twice so far.
so much love in the detail, very very imposant - congratulations!

(This layout is in a league of it's own)
The best layout I have ever seen!
Beautiful work, and all very life like. although the diesel switcher is out of place those didn't appear in the 20's.... But the rest is simply Amazing and beautiful.
unglaublich - einsame Spitze. Ein Traum in Miniatur und eine perfekte Inszenierung!

Beautifully done!

It’s funny how ,run down, old ruined, buildings seem fascinating, when they are miniatures in a diorama.

it is very realistic and nice made, but is very grey and dark and dusty ,it is like the rallity ,creepy.
Good video except for that awful European whistle sound effect.
SPEACHLESS!!
