Hi Toby, this is Capt Kenneth Khong from SQ308✈️ :) Thank you very much for your kind words. Nice aerial view of River Thames in your video during our approach to Runway 27L. Hope you managed to catch some good pics of the beautiful Hindu Kush mountain range when we were halfway during cruise. It was a pity that the peak of the majestic Tirich Mir(the highest mountain in the world outside of the Himalayas-Karakoram range) was covered by the lenticular clouds. On behalf of my crew, I would like to thank you once again for choosing to fly with Singapore Airlines. Taking this opportunity to wish you good health and happiness for all the years to come🙏🌈
Great landing 👍🏻
Singapore Airlines is the best airline in the world. I flew a lot with SIA in the 1980s, and every flight was wonderful. Great country, great airline.
Great pilot, exceptional professionalism and very nice to see you comment here.
That was a damned good landing, Skipper.
Your awesome landing as captured by Big Jet TV! ua-cam.com/video/AMxvFmkWvEY/v-deo.html
I was filming at Heathrow and have never seen anything like it. I saw you come in. One of the lucky ones to get down first time! Wonderful pilots, in every plane that flew that day ✈️
Did you catch BA288, 777, 12.50pm from Phoenix? I filmed from inside 😁
When the chips are down this is when these skillful pilots earn their money. MH3 about 25mins behind was a great landing also. If you play the reply on flightradar or similar you can see the variance in speed as they descend, specially below 1000ft. Credit to them all for getting everyone to ther destination safely.
I think they get paid the same regardless of the weather
@@kickedinthecalfbyacow7549 No doubt they do, but they don't always land a plane in such difficult conditions and, when the conditions are like this, they always land without autopilot. Many think pilots are overpaid hense my statement.
Watching the active control surfaces on the wing makes you wonder in fascination about the battle of mechanical engineering vs forces of nature, not to mention the brilliance of electronics engineering that allows a (probably) handheld camera to capture a clean and steady footage with image stabilization !
So far, you are the only POV video of this storm from inside an aircraft. Kudos for the great camera work . And the flight crew on planting it on the ground the first try.
There's a cockpit view from inside Qatar Airways on it's third attempt.
Sorry but the first attempt was a "Go around". Greased the second landing though.
@@MANOFKENT149 there were 2 x SQ flights that day - the earlier flight had 2 attempts but this flight I was on landed around 14,58 & definitely went straight in...check Big Jet TV for the footage if you want to see it from an external view sir. Also please if you can take a moment to subscribe to my channel as I'll be looking to add more aviation related videos from my travels if that's what interest you - thanks again for taking time to comment, its appreciated
I once spoke to a pilot that said pilots have never been "pilots" until they've experienced such things like this. Hats off to pilots that encounter such conditions, I'd be crapping myself lol 😅
I remember many years ago coming in to land into Stansted Airport from a flight from Tenerife. It was all nice and smooth for the whole flight until we came through the storm. We were told to expect a 'bumpy' landing from the pilot. The turbulence was UNREAL!! All the breathing equipment literally fell from above your head, over head lockers actually opened up! The amount of screaming from other passengers was unreal. I remember thinking to myself there is NO WAY the pilots are going to be able to land the plane. I was sitting right by one of the wings which was dipping up and down BIG time!! The pilots realised they couldn't land, and FULL throttle, for me which seemed like 100's of feet away, we were so close! But it SOURED back up again. All the overhead lockers opened up, with bags falling out. Never been SO scared in all my life!! I will always remember a group of Irish people, who had been enjoying a few drinks throughout the flight, one of the men said "there is no f****ng way this plane is going to be able to land, is the pilot going to try and land a f****ing 35 million pound plane is someone's back garden! Lol.
We landed in Gatwick btw 😄
For the time I watched BigJet that day, this was probable THE SMOOTHEST landing. Wonderful job protecting your passengers and crew.
3 attempts by the San Fran flight , good fun to watch huh
I landed during storm Eunice on a flight from Rome with Alitalia (or as it's being called now ITA Airways). Fantastic "crabbing" skills from the pilots on that flight too. Most passengers were nervously holding their seats but I was literally geeking looking out the window haha
You are brave well done, I'm a nervous flyer.
Just as a side note, this is so relaxing. I'm watching in bed after a night's sleep in the morning and keep falling asleep to the sound. You may want to add ASMR to your description x
Wow, that looked so smooth in the conditions! I landed at Bristol during this storm and it was a terrifying roller coaster ride, pilot landed it brilliantly though!! 😀
Why didn’t you film it!
It was yellow in Bristol u would be even more terrified in london , kent and the rest of the south eastern areas.
Great airmanship in testing conditions. Well done.
Bigger aircraft don't get thrown around quite as much, so the 777 in the video, while being fun, would have had a less dramatic time of it. It also depends what time of day you were landing too. The storm was at its most intense late morning.
@@PedroConejo1939 totally right - the earlier flights were crabbing due to cross winds - our wind was straight down the runway - if you can pls take a moment to subscribe to my channel as I'll be adding more aviation related videos as I travel the world...thanks for taking the time to comment too, its appreciated 👍
I Watch on BigJetTV Live Stream. What a Beautiful landing. Respect to all Pilots, Cabin Crews, ATC, Ground Crews who work during the Storm Eunice.
Such skill. The landing is so smooth you wouldn’t even know there was a storm.
Pretty serious flight controls workout, both in the cockpit and on the hydraulics.. 777 is one of the most robust jets made..
That was amazing.
Although flying can be scary on occasions, this has just reminded me of what a beautiful experience it can be and the feeling of comfort in watching this is remarkable.
Thank you to ALL CAPTAINS and their TEAMS for doing such a wonderful job.
🙏❤🙏
I saw another vlog showing planes coming into LHR during storm Eunice and the struggle was real for most of the pilots who were trying to land their aircraft. And yet Singapore Airlines landed perfectly on their first attempt!
That is so nice to get a thank you from the Captain of your flight. Singapore Airlines is my favourite airline out from Christchurch New Zealand to Europe. Happy flying Capt and crew and exceptional landing.👍
Yes not only a great pilot but a nice person too - if you can pls take a moment to subscribe to my channel as I'll be adding more aviation related videos as I travel the world...thanks for taking the time to comment too, its appreciated 👍
Top notch landing. You would barely know the landing was executed in a severe storm. This is just one reason Singapore Airlines is my go to carrier. I flew with Malayan Airways on DC-3s as a kid in the '50s & '60s & once SIA was formed went with them & stayed with them.
top airline Howard - always a good experience flying SIA - if you can pls take a moment to subscribe to my channel as I'll be adding more aviation related videos as I travel the world...thanks for taking the time to comment too, its appreciated 👍
If it was a "severe" storm landings would have been cancelled at that airport and diverted to another. Piece of piss for these pilots as you can see.
Singapore airlines great great job landing now u can take eveyone to dinner to celebrate
@@Mexxx65 70/80mph gusts is pretty severe. Plenty had to divert and go around.
Singapore airlines are the BEST. Best aircraft, best pilots, period.
Lol its a pitty about their infrastructure

“Best” How are they the best? How are Qantas pilots less capable than a Singapore pilot? Or an American Airlines or Lufthansa ect . Genuinely would like to know.
@@tuczzz dude your channel is shit
Great camera work. I like that you kept the shot on the horizon rather than the wing. That created the feel as though I was sitting in your seat. I felt every rise and fall of that wing tip. The pilot made the landing seem very uneventful but, you could tell, he had his hands full.
air turbulence really gives me the creep..how much more on stormy flight..oh noooo....
Thanks for sharing Toby, really enjoyed, some great views over London.
2:01 always my favorite part hearing the gear come down or up
Great vid !!! Total respect to the pilots 🙏🙏🙏
toby thank you for giving us a different perspective..great video!!!!!!!!!
I once landed in Ireland on a crazy stormy night in the midst of an ice storm. Ice were bolting at the plane like rocks and bullets when we were in mid air. That was super scary. I seriously thought I was going die and the flight was so turbulent. It was like the whole plane going break apart anytime by the winds and ice. And now Everytime I recall that flight, it made me so scared and nervous everytime I need take a plane nowadays..
Ah the 'super' bit....one of the sickly phrases recently arrived from the US. Anyone remember when we would have said very scary ?
Ah but you survived. Just remember if a plane can fly through those conditions it can fly anywhere. Don't be scared, enjoy the roller coaster.
What a smooth landing, great video footage. Any pilot flying during that storm deserves a medal.
Thanks for filming this! ✌️

This is awesome thank you and brilliant camera
What a wonderful landing. Travelled Singapore airlines many many times, always excellent
Wow I watched the landing live on big jet tv.

Such sharp and beautiful images. Loved it. Thanks from a sunny Holland.
WoW, it's Amazing the wingtips stay attached to these Planes.... Kudos to all Crews & Passengers who landed safely that day... I was Glued to my monitor watching... Great footage
thanks Dave for the comment - Big Jet TV was amazing to watch once I got home to see my flight land..pilot did a great job. if you can pls take a moment to subscribe to my channel as I'll be adding more aviation related videos as I travel the world...thanks for taking the time to comment too, its appreciated 👍
Beautiful landing. And you had my favourite view of London on the approach, coming in from the East with a starboard window seat!
Nice video battling storm Eunice. I myself was taking off 2 days later with an Embraer 190 at Amsterdam when it was still very windy. The G-forces where very powerful, the plane was even shaking on the ground while standing at the parking spot, never experienced that before, and I flew on a lot of planes in my life.
I’ve landed at Heathrow many times and never had a nerve-wracking landing. I’ve landed at Gatwick twice and both times have been terrifying 🙄😆
That feeling when the plane takes off and landing 👌🏽🥰 i haven’t been on a plane since 2019 😅 hopefully this year i will be flying again
Wouldn't fly any other airline.Just watching all the crew arrive at the airport makes me cry.So professional 😊
what an amazing video !! superb views, awesome shadow chasing and even better piloting skills. what a testament to the crew and their profession ✈️✈️
Skillfully done.... cabin was very quiet. Round of applause for the Pilots
God bless the talent of the pilots that keep us safe.
GE90 power!! Great landing from the pilots, I watched some of these arrivals on Big Jet TV's stream, the pilots outdid themselves.
Thank you for sharing. Breezy landing for sure. I think BigJetTV may have streamed your landing!

Pretty sure I saw this landing live on Big Jet Tv. The live stream is on youtube if you wanna see it from the outside. The time stamp is at the left bottom view on the video. That way you can find it easier since you know when you landed. That was a wild storm. Very few planes landed on the first attempt.

@@tuczzz You're Welcome! I am glad that you got to watch your landing from both views now. That was a crazy day for flying into Heathrow. I wish you well on your new adventures in the future!
I love to watch...how this wing is swinging up n' down...so flexible 🤗❤️
great demonstration on Netflix on how they test flexibility, you would not believe how flexy they can be!!!
That was a fraction of what the wings are capable of.
Without flexibility, your flight would be incredibly bumpy. Take a look at this and see what wings are really capable of flexing to: ua-cam.com/video/--LTYRTKV_A/v-deo.html

Brilliant video, some great wing flexes and the flapperon is working overtime. Singapore airlines have some fantastic pilots, some of the smoothest landings I`ve had were on SIA flight.

Great video toby T! I was watching live thanks to Jerry's setup and recall the SIA 777. Not sure if this was the one. Beautiful photography of London city. Was it very bumpy? With the wing flex I'm sure you were getting some good jolts.
Nice video - lovely view of Battersea Power Station ;) (& the London Eye) I was anticipating a more interesting landing but it went very well !
Wow. Love the big heavies. Always amazes me how they get up and down!🤩
What a day that was I didn't envy anyone coming in to Heathrow that day.
I wasn't looking forward to it I must admit, I used the on-board connectivity to connect to the FlightAware website to see if any flights were diverted/going around & when I saw they were I thought we'd be in for a bumpy arrival but the captain was superb. if you can pls take a moment to subscribe to my channel as I'll be adding more aviation related videos as I travel the world...thanks for taking the time to comment too, its appreciated 👍
I was watching flights land that day and hats off to all the pilots- spectacular skills!! It was nail biting! The Airbus 380s 🙈 had me on the edge of my seat!!
That was an excellent landing in such conditions, great work by the crew.
Interesting footage, you did very good job! It must have been a great experience!
I nearly didn't film it as I thought it might be too bumpy but thanks to Capt Khong's master control I never felt unsafe - amazing considering the conditions. if you can pls take a moment to subscribe to my channel as I'll be adding more aviation related videos as I travel the world...thanks for taking the time to comment too, its appreciated 👍
Couldn't get a good idea of the strength of the winds from this video, but the pilot did an amazing job. Was fascinating to watch the flaps doing their thing during the approach and landing, too.
This was what I call Smoooooooth landing🥰 The flight deck put the storm to shame 😂 I ❤️ BA
A very good landing despite the storm - well done to the crew.
Excellent filming thank you 😊

Spectacular and fascinating. Interesting to note that birds also have certain tiny portions of their wings which spring upwards as they land.
What a great relaxing video.. so peaceful.. I hope it was as relaxing onboard
No applause you miserable lot! Pilot deserved a standing ovation for landing in that!
I was slapping my thigh with one hand whilst filming with the other - agree it deserved a round of applause Steve - If you can spare the time pls Subscribe to my channel (its free) to see more aviation videos added as I travel the world - many thanks for taking the time to comment, its appreciated 🙌
How all those bits and pieces stay on the wings is amazing.
SO MUCH of wing flex and aileron/flap - "flapping"! The airliner seemed to undergo "uncontrolled shivering" in the wing(s), but this seems to have been insulated from the fuselage/passenger cabin, as the camera filming the entire episode seems to be rather steady, indeed.
Good flying, good photography, good view(ing)!
👍👍👍🙌🙌🙌
Every pilot who attempted a landing that day was a hero. The ones who made it down, AND the ones who had to divert - skill isnt just about landing in difficult conditions, but also knowing when not to.
This video doesn't really show some of the extreme crabbing that these pilots used to land but it does clearly show the terrible conditions.
Wonder how close they were to 777 max crosswind
Oh shut up….a hero?!?!?
The wind was straight down the runway
🤣🤣🤣 hero, seriously get a grip you wet blanket
Love Singapore - will go again this year
I was on BA288 which was filmed by Big Jet, I was sent it within minutes of touch down. It was certainly scarier in the flesh but the vids look good aswell. All credit to the air traffic control, pilots, air crew & ground crew 😁 thanks for sharing. may share mine now
It's often a bit choppy landing at SIN too so this pilot gets plenty of practice. Singapore Airlines are great.

I watched Big Jet Tv and he was streaming the planes landing and I totally agreed with what he said about how skilled the pilots were to land these planes safely.
Love seeing the massive wing flex in the wind
Nicely done Sir!

Great video! I was wondering… what’s with the Concorde you are at 5:45? Looks ready to fly! Or is it just an exhibition?
Imagine the “fun” in the cockpit. These machines are a marvel of technology.

Beautiful!
Pilots are amazing
I'm sure I could just about hear the Jet TV guy filming on the ground shouting: "Steady...steady...Bossed it!"🤣🤣
I've been in much harder conditions, in a flight to Bilbao when the plane was trying to land it had to make a togo. By the second attempt it just touched down on the edge of the runway.
Certaily a very skilful amd well-trained pilot and first officer! ✈️ Looked like a smooth landing despite Eunice. I am deeply impressed. Wonderful views of the London Skyline! 👍 Thanks so much for sharing yor adventure. Kind regards from Germany. 😊🍀
One of the best approaches in the world, especially if you're flying a 270 heading and approaching over London. Even the 090 heading approach isn't too bad, if you can get a nice view of Windsor Castle :-D
THX a lot !

I like the relaxing music in the background! 🤣
Great steady hands all round, flight deck and camera.
Usually don't see that much wing flex and aileron/ slat movement that close to the ground.
Curious if autopilot/autoland in turbulence mode was used for some of that...
OMG what a soothing approach, nearly put me to sleep.
Landed in conditions like this at Bristol on the same weekend. Probably the most scared I’ve been in my life and that’s despite knowing what I know about planes. Nothing can prepare you for when the wind is blowing the place you’re on around in the air like an empty crisp packet
Amazing. Thankyou.

I've got a flight tracker app and I watched that plan on it and at heathrow i cant remember if that plane was air Siberia or british airways they had a lot of BA ( BA means british airways .
What is the middle extension on the trailing edge of the wing that is constantly moving? Is it a flap? Is it moving under autopilot or manual control? Why is it allowed to move while the others flaps are kept fixed?
I'm no aircraft expert (engines are my scene), but I can tell you that it's called a 'flaperon' (the equivalent of an aileron) and it's doing what it's doing to control the aircraft. I watched it at work on SQ319 (From the same seat number? Probably a row or two further back) as we came in to land at SIN last Friday.
How do I know this? Because, having flown with Malaysia Airlines only a couple of weeks after the disappearance of MH370, I took a professional interest in the search for the lost aircraft, and one of the few items of debris they found washed up was a flaperon.
PS I give marks out of ten for landings and that looked worth at least a nine, with extra marks for technical difficulty. SQ319 last Friday was a definite ten.
