Can i just state how much I appreciate the hard work and diligence Sarah puts into all of her videos? You can tell from her equipment, her video styles, how everything she does has a purpose and a message, whether it be filming a tour like this and offering advice for any new youtubers, to skincare videos where she links everything she uses and explains the foundations of good skincare without any bells or whistles. Even in her drugstore makeup and skincare videos/challenges she puts the prices of everything and calculates all of the totals herself. It really shows her passion and dedication to making quality content. Love you Sarah, rock on!
This is crazy, its so organized! For the small amount of space, you were really able to organize everything. It looks like an actual studio, there's definitely a lot of effort put to make this work, we really appreciate every one of your videos ❤️
something i've always admired so much about you is your transparency. i know it's just lighting, but it's so nice to hear about how painstakingly hard you worked to get your lighting to end up the way it is, and you're openly sharing both the actual setup and the story behind it for everyone to see. it seems like such a small thing, but people are weirdly secretive about things like this and just refuse to share anything, so the fact that you're always giving tips and sharing information is so refreshing and lovely! :3
tips for mics and echos! i currently use a blue snowball mic which is incredibly affordable as a mic (around $50-$60 or maybe less than that) but i would recommend getting a blue yeti (around $100), which has a much better stand and allows you to change the pickup settings for audio which is really nice. as for echo, sound proofing can be extremely affordable such as using foam boards or like someone else said using some quilts or blankets. anything that would dampen the sound. hope this helps! :)
I appreciate/respect the frugality of your filming setup. Its inspirational to those starting out or otherwise to know that you don't have to spend thousands of dollars to have a quality setup, and that a little creativity can go a long way.
This is such a cool video. I was always wondering how you'd put the lights and the whole filming process. Thanks for showing us all that! I do music video shots and have played around with soft boxes etc. and can confirm they're taking a lot of space. You've made such good use of such small space. About the mic situation: eliminating noise can be also done with post editing (I find Adobe Premiere Pro is a very good editing software), however eliminating voice reverb can also be done (pre-production) if you use e.g. soft soundproof foam to attach it e.g. at the corner of the walls.
This was probably the most helpful video I’ve watched all day!! I’ve been trying to figure out the best situation for being able to see what you’re doing while recording. Very helpful!
I love your dedication in researching and finding out the lighting positioning, product etc!!! I have so much more respect for you knowing the effort you put in, these are the little things that MATTER when becoming a youtuber but no one really talks about it! Also, what app do you use to link the tablet to the DSLR?
I love when successful UA-camrs are willing to help out other UA-camrs. Sharing what they do to create quality content, and sharing YEARS of experience with the world so that others can learn from their mistakes/experiences. THAT SHIT IS EMPOWERING and INSPIRING👏🏼🙌🏼 Would love to hear about your journey here on UA-cam, Sarah 💞 ps. Love your videos!!!
this is literally the best video. I'm so glad you actually have a small room. I film from my bedroom and its super small. All the other videos I've seen say "small" but the rooms are so much larger than mine and its not at all helpful.. Thank you for this!
Super informative! I love it! I don’t know about the mic, or if you already solved your problem with the echo, but certainly some absorbent panels for noise on the side walls would help you with that! 😊
I’ve been doing that recently lmaooo. I look at people’s eyes to see where the light is coming from so when she mentioned that I laughed so loud! I started my UA-cam channel last year and it’s been hard for me to be consistent cause I’m never happy with the lighting or how it makes me look on camera. I’m still experimenting now with lighting and I love the the tips she’s giving here
Thank u so much Sarah!!!! I don't know if u go back to see new comments on old vids but I'm a newbie with all this tech stuff and I'm researching to start my painting channel and this was so helpful 🥺 thank u sis 💓💓
Putting fabrics and noise absorbing material around will reduce echo, but if you still want a mic i would get a shotgun mic, they are directional meaning that they generally only pick up the noise in the direction the mic is pointing, opposed to other mics which capture sounds coming from all around which causes reverb. At university for my film classes we usually use rode Shotgun mics but they hella $$$. but I prefer using them over any other type of microphone when capturing voice especially for interviews, etc!
Thanks for sharing your set up! 😊 I have a rode compact mic and it works well. Affordable too. The blue yeti is also a good mic but you’ll have to sync up the audio and video which is super annoying. Great for voice overs though!
My school uses acoustic panels to reduce the echo in the auditorium maybe you should try those to reduce the echo in your room. I think I saw them in home-depot once too you should definitely try.
If you're looking for good audio on a budget I recommend takstar sgc-598 shot gun mic that runs for about $30. The quality is on par with the Rode shotgun mics. For mobility, the rode smartlavs are amazing. Youn plug it into your iphone and use voice notes to record the audio
sara explaining how she was zooming into peoples eyes to figure stuff out sounds like my mom on facebook university figuring home remedies out against covid😹😹
If you wanna stop the eco put something (white!) on the walls. (One or two walls should be enough) Egg cartons, wool blankets,.... it just has to be textured to ,eat‘ the eco. Cheapest version and no micro would cancel out an eco I think 🤔
just watched trixies video with her youtube setup, and her only real audio "fix" was a fuzzy carpet, she said it helps a lot. and of course a mic cover (fuzzy type) to cut out aircon noise and excessive breathing (something i didnt realize i did until i filmed myself one day, lmfao) so maybe that could help if you dont want to put a lot of stuff on the walls! thank you for the light recs! im super curious of that lamp, wondering if you still use it? i have a small space as well and whenever i see the light boxes i just cry because theyre so bulky and in the way of everything.
Wow great timing!! I've been looking into this as well and it's so hard to figure all the components to bring a video to life!! Thank you do much for sharing!! Love your videos!! 💕
the light behind the chair to create the illusion of more space is genius

It's so inspiring to hear about what you use to do before and how your filming equipment has seriously upgraded over time.

thanks for the insight Sarah! I feel like these topics are underrated in the UA-cam community esp when it comes to beauty/lifestyle

I have been eyeballing that Yongnuo yn300 ever since Carli made her video 😍 definitely need it!
this was refreshing! helpding a fellow youtuber not only by liking but also living a comment
Round of applause for the hard work Sarah put into her filming room!

This helped me so much!! i’m definitely gonna get a tablet and the app!
Me too.
Icon, I hope your new setup works great and hope you continue to thrive in and out of UA-cam, sending you lots of love
This set up is amazing!! thank you honestly I have been trying to get the same lighting used on kuwtk for ages myself so this was so useful
Omg i was searching this topic all over youtube today and i cant believe you posted this recently!!
Super informative! I love it! I don’t know about the mic, or if you already solved your problem with the echo, but certainly some absorbent panels for noise on the side walls would help you with that! 😊
I love this setup. I connect my Canon camera to my MacBook Pro and use that as a monitor when filming videos.
doing spy work for finding out someone's lighting position... why do I feel like that something I'd do? 😂
I’ve been doing that recently lmaooo. I look at people’s eyes to see where the light is coming from so when she mentioned that I laughed so loud! a blue yeti is usually the recommended beginner's mic although I personally use a Zoom H4N :)
- I work in film
Ahh! Thank you for these helpful tips!
love you sarah! and your top is bomb as well
Thank u so much Sarah!!!! I don't know if u go back to see new comments on old vids but I'm a newbie with all this tech stuff and I'm researching to start my painting channel and this was so helpful 🥺 thank u sis 💓💓
a dedicated queen! I love this video~ This was so interesting to see :0
Girl. The hack of how to affordably stream your camera to another device was absolute gold 🤯🤩 thank you a million times for sharing your gems ❤️

Waouh the glow up! I’m so proud of you Sarah!✨
love you girl! quick question! is it hot or cold inside your studio? how do you keep yourself cool while you apply your makeup?
idk if this helps, but led light unlike soft boxes produces no heat so the they wont heat up the room to cause u to sweat or get warm
This set up is the 🔑🔑 its helped alot x
Can’t help but to love that top! Btw that tab thing is so cool! Didn’t know u could connect and watch it real time while filming
It was very interesting hearing you talk about this! You're so hardworking and dedicated 🥰
So many great tips here!! My room with my makeup is pretty much the same size, this helps out SO MUCH thank you for sharing!
Obsessed with your set up girl! 😍 You look stunning and so down to earth also! 🙌🏻

Investigation level: Zoom in to eye to see reflection 😂🙏

Why are you so pretty Sarah
Thanks for sharing your set up! 😊 I have a rode compact mic and it works well. Affordable too. The blue yeti is also a good mic but you’ll have to sync up the audio and video which is super annoying. Great for voice overs though!

Johari Gillespie canon g7x!
@@sacheu Thank you very much
If you wanna stop the eco put something (white!) on the walls. (One or two walls should be enough) Egg cartons, wool blankets,.... it just has to be textured to ,eat‘ the eco. Cheapest version and no micro would cancel out an eco I think 🤔
