Stephen Fry: "Flowers didn't evolve until the late Cretaceous."
*Diplodocus happily grazing on flowers in the Jurassic*
I know we can't expect every dino-doc to be Walking with Dinosaurs or Prehistoric Planet, but...just...good lord.
yeah im pretty sure people should realize right now that the days of action oriented monster showcase documentaries should be behind us. but at least we do have prehistoric planet. that is like the best dino doc ever IMO, though i have more nostalgia for WWD
if you taught me modeling and animation when i was 10 years old, i could have made a better documentary and it would have been more accurate, even with 20 year old science.
@Dav Yx Yx based on the trailer it's looks are amazing i hope they dont ruin them with inaccuracies
@@firegator6853 The Tyrannosaurus roaring and moving its tongue doesn't leave me with high expectations
@Galaxy 08 the Tyrannosaurus clearly opened its mouth and moved the tongue. With the mouth open wide, what other audio/sound could they use?
Even if they don't use the exact same roar, they'll still use a roar, which is extremely unlikely.
They literally used the ark pteranodon flying animation for the distant pterosaurs 💀
not just that, but they also stole the ark stego and titanosaurus
I thought i was the only one that noticed, i wonder if they have more stolen assets from different games.
💀
@@duckylikeswaffles1295 Other then those two and the ptera I haven't really noticed any other ones I'd consider stole, but some of the foliage are unity store assets and I'm at least 89% sure that the Allosaurus is a unity asset as well. The pterosaurs at like 34:00 are also 100% unity asset store
@@thefirehawk8520 I have heard the Tyrannosaurus model might be from Beasts of Bermuda.
Another thing wrong with this is that they used a Titanosaur, Stegosaurus and Pteranodon from ARK and when the Allosaurus open it's mouth they used the Baryonyx roar from Camp Cretaceous
In fairness the roar is probably just a stock monster sound
The Allo model might have also be from Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom
This cgi makes the show deserve a new tier triple F to the 600th power
or Z tier
the complete bottom of the barrel
600 billionth power
I can't believe that this dino documentary makes Bizzare dinosaurs look good( graphics wise)
I thing that a better comparison would be with "Jurassic Fight Club"...
Yeah man, we are in THIS level...
@@dudotolivier6363 first rule of JFC: we don’t talks about JFC
@@DryptosaurusDavid We desperately need a GOOD VS battle show with prehistoric animals.
There are youtubers who make better CGI
@@DryptosaurusDavid Nice reference.
Never see the movie, but he seem to be good.
13:15 Stephen Fry does the very best impression of a drunk person wandering through the woods and encountering an allosaurus for the very first time that I have ever seen.
Imagine instead of a dinosaur documentary, Stephan Fry hypes up seeing a dinosaur in real life, but instead of showing off dinosaur, he just goes outside to do some bird watching instead and he never once mentions dinosaurs ever again
Edit: Oh god, they took the Ark Titanosaurus model 37:42
That would've been so much better than whatever bs this was...
But birds are dinosaurs so he would technically still be talking about dinosaurs
@@millenniumlaggus5176 that's the joke
@@garuga1512 sorry, I misread it
Bird Watching is much more interesting tho
Imagine releasing this documentary after Prehistoric Planet...
THE Audacity!
This honestly looks like Mockbuster The Asylum would do.
@@goj1_lag00n you hit it right on target, this is like the bone alone of dinosaur documentaries
It looks like it came out 20 years ago. Jesus Christ it looks awful. And apparently not very accurate plus using stolen assets from ARK is a bad sign.

My favourite part was when Stephen said "It's fryin' time" and started frying all over the poorly-rendered CGI dinos
No wander he is a flabbergast
Seriously though, where did this meme come from ? I kept seeing it throughout last year but can't seem to track down the source.
@@nicholashaan7345 Morbius
@@nicholashaan7345
To explain in extra detail, it originated as the “It’s Morbin’ Time!” memes, which in themselves were a Morbius-themed parody of catchphrases like the Power Rangers’ “It’s Morphin’ Time!”.
Basically, people on the internet decided to mock how uninterested they were in Morbius, by sarcastically hyping it up as the most amazing and anticipated movie ever. This included people making up scenes to fanboy over, which could not be disproven since nobody saw the film.
A meme in which the titular character says “It’s Morbin’ Time!” and “morbs” all over his enemies particularly caught on. And people soon made alterations of that meme to poke fun at other bad/dull/polarizing media.
@@markcobuzzi826 Ahh i see, thanks for the explanation
"Allosaurus would use its head like a hatchet. Diplodocus had a whip tail. Diplodocus was 40 tons. Pangaea was around during the Jurassic." *[EXTREMELY LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER]*
Technically Diplodocus could be ~36 tonnes if it was D. hallorum.
And diplodocus tail whip isnt completely out of the question it’s just it wouldn’t have been sound barrier breaking if it did have one.
@@jeffreygao3956 They said earlier that Diplodocus was 15 tons, so they switched between the 2 species' weight estimates. That would be pretty confusing to someone who doesn't know that there were more than 1 Diplodocus species. Also, jumping from 36 tons to 40 tons is still a big gap. A 40 ton D. hallorum would be really obese, even for a Sauropod.
"What's with these extra plates" *that is the ark stego model*
This makes Spy Kids 3D look like a technological achievement.
At 23:15 you can see the Ark pteranodon model. I spent too much time on this game not to recognize it at first sight...
This has made my day better than it was earlier.
Then it was all worth it
@@redraptorwrites6778 That was likely a very ironic sentence...
@@dudotolivier6363 not really. I was having a rather disappointing day, but than this video came out and made me giggle.
23:11 you cant tell me thats not a Ark Pteranodon
34:47 also thats literally Arks Stego💀
37:45 and the Titanosaur from Ark the hells goin on made the first comment as a joke cause it looked similar but they're actually ripping assets from Ark
Yep they stole them
34:50 that _is_ the old arc model...wtf, Stephen?!
And I know it's not his fault, but it's not my fault that he has such a faultable name!
The allosaurus skull kinda looks like godzilla's skull while the tyrannosaurus rex's skull kinda looks like the venatosaurus skull from Peter Jackson's king kong
*Vastatosaurus rex, not venatosaurus
Ah yes, I love me some good allosaurs casually livin in the Pangea
Dinosaur with Stephen fry is litterally the opposite of prehistoric planet
The real opposite to Prehistoric Planet is Jurassic Fight Club. At least they didn't go all out with fast-paced editing and gory mindless violence.
That is true and i said that cuz dinosaur with Stephen fry is new and prehistoric planet was released previous year
I mean, even if dinosaurs had super complicated larynxes, the roar is only observed in felinae. No other mammals roar, no non-mammals roar, it's a little ridiculous to imagine that dinosaurs would roar, when not even wolves do that ^^'
Closest any other animal had got to that are bears
I laughed when the _Allosaurus_ roared.
Litterally: AHGHhgahghahghahgahaghgha noises
The allosaurus skull muscle anatomy looks like someone taped chicken meat onto a decayed bear skull with glued on random sharp teeth, I cannot fathom how that was given the okay
the CGI is absolute dog water 💀
Puh-lease, dogs get better water than this
Oh no ark models on the DOCUMENTARY
The models that were stolen from ark are the stegosaurus that’s why it haves the extra plates and they also stole the titanasaurus model that’s why it looks like it has rocks covering it’s body
Red me boi you and Rick are my favourite raptor UA-camrs😅
The raptor competition is strong so thank you 😁
"Why is he just standing there and they don't acknowledge him?"
Given the look of the CGI, I guess they didn't have the budget to animate interactions between a human and a model XD
Same reason why some dinosaurs are presented with artworks, that looks good because it's just a drawing, and not a 3D model ^^
Goddamn, at least Jurassic Fight Club made their own models
I've had a couple young people come up to me in the museum I work at a few days ago ask be how credible this documentary actually was.
When I saw the show, I nearly cried. I've been a paleontologist for nearly 20 years (15 years professional, 5 years studying.). In this documentary, they contradict the creatures in it so horribly wrong, when they get a fact right (which is rare), it is hard to believe them.
Hell, they even use ark models of pteranadon, stegosaurus, and titanosaur, which are not public use and is not exactly "good" for the show writers. This makes wildcard liable to take legal action against (channel 5 I think?).
I sincerely hope that a new documentary comes out to educate people correctly, so I don't have to argue with ignorant people that diplodocus was not 30-40 tones, and that allosaurus was not 15 tones
Even without mentioning WWD, Nigel Marven does the same concept twenty years before with good looking creatures ^^'
Even the mammals of Prehistoric Park looks less hideous, and mammals are awful in CGI with all the fur XD
i`d like to go back in time, where green screen didn't exist.
Red raptor looks like he’s in pain watching this documentary 😂.
I cant help but wonder if they got a team of graphic students in a local college or university to animate all this.
Everyone has to start somewhere, I suppose. The CGI is still...'interesting' though.
This documentary's most disgraceful sin was using ARK's dinosaurs. They are literally the furthest thing from accuracy, which even ARK itself acknowledges. If anything, this shows how lazy the producers were in getting the facts right.
I hope this series never ends
I thought the dark age of dinosaur documentaries are over
It reminds me of the tale where Alexander during his conquest stumbled upon a tribe still stuck in the stone age. I guess as the world progresses forward, someone somewhere will inevitably fall behind.
The allosaurus roar is the indominus roar from Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous
I just looked into a TV TROPES article about The Truth About Killer Dinosaurs. The Artistic License - Paleontology section mentions that the Triceratops skull test had some minor issues. Triceratops would've had a lot of strengthening tissue supporting the skull, meaning its skull wouldn't break. Besides, Triceratops wouldn't be fast enough to charge at another animal and break its skull. Though I actually still agree with some of the facts about Triceratops in that documentary.
Stephen Fry is the best part of the documentary and one of the few saving graces of this "documentary"
99% of budget went to get Stephen Fry...
stephen 🍟
I LITERALLY RECOGNIZED BIG AL RIGHT AWAY LOL
I must have watched the allosaurus special too much
34:51 ARK’s stegosaurus
No seriously! They stole the model from the game and put it on TV
life is pain, pain is life
It only gets worse from here... no need to watch the next episode. I haven't seen it but I heard about it and its honestly shocking how inaccurate it is.
This documentary series not only has outdated information, but it has hasty and sloppy experiments (e.g. the melon bite experiment), and stolen dinosaur models from ARK survival evolved...
I just god damn noticed… the velociraptor uses sounds from Jurassic world: the game. This is laughable as it doesn’t use the raptors, but the SALAMANDERS!
We have quite a few Allosaurus specimens of all kinds of different sizes, with estimated masses of 1,800kg for more average sized ones, and 3,000kg for the biggest ones. This would mean Allosaurus would've weighed anywhere between 1 and 3 tonnes once adult.
The expert with Stephen fry says that allosaurus weighed around 15 tonnes and its the same weight as diplodocus also episode 2 is a bit better than episode one but the next episode will probably mention the scavenger idea which I never heard until your valley of the trex video
Dinosaur With Stephen Fry is the next Jurassic fight club
The Diplodicus looks like they decided to give it a horse face without skin. Utterly terrifying
Red raptor writes on his way to cancel another documentary
Let's just be happy that this year we are going to get: Agate: Forgotten bloodlines (with THE NIGEL MARVEN being the main narrator) and Life Our Planet
And now Prehistoric Planet 2
This video has made my day so much better. I was stressing out earlier because I wasn’t able to go to school today, and I have a lot of assignments that I need to get done this week at school. I couldn’t stop thinking about having to do twice the work that I’m normally doing, and having to play a long game of catch up with my peers, but finding a video of you clowning on this piece of garbage has made my day.
5:50 OH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL? It’s got a broken back and a toothpick for a face!
They did my boy Allosaurus dirty
Nice, we get to see Red's face now. Good to see ya Red
How is the cgi worse than WWD? Lmao
30:00 yes, that is in fact the stegosaurus from ARK survival evolved. I have played ARK and I fear this documentary may have stolen the model plus a few others I’ve seen in the trailer as well.
They did steal the models without permission
Missed you mate, cheers.
34:57 Yeah, those are stegosaurs from Ark, they just ripped the models from the game
There also shot with titanosuros from ark but not in episode but i think a trailer
@@godzillapl8106 Yeah i saw them in the trailer too, i was hoping they wouldn't use any other ark dinos but here we are
Probably got it from a 3rd party site that hosts model, where someone had uploaded the model
The Stegosaurus model was stolen from Ark, and that includes the Argentinosaurus model being the Titanosaur model from Ark as well
Woa, ok, you do not look anything like what I imagined haha. Wish you a speedy recovery!
OMG this looks like they made it in 2007 and only releasing it now. What I do like so, besides Stephen Fry being in it, is that they put him next to the Dinosaurs, so that you can kinda see how big they were in comparison to a human. That's where Prehistoric Planet failed in some scenes, in my opinion. Like putting the Dreadnoughtus in the middle of the desert with no reverence points, they could have been ant sized in that scene for all I saw.
The Allosaurus is sooooo bad. They gave it the typical 1990s carnivorous Dinosaur box head, while in reality it's head was much narrower in front view. And this muscle skull thing is even worse. The crocodile like teeth, the space between them, and the short stubby skull. Like how do you show the real narrow skull, and then make the animation and be like "yeah that is nice". Surprised they didn't give it the JP wrist treatment. But I do get comparing everything to T. rex, tho. It is not only well known by most people, it is also a model organism, so comparing other big carnivores to it makes kinda sense.
Your concept of "combine the 2 worlds" by having a shared voice actor is funny because Viva Pinata makes me want Dan Green to narrate my paleodocumentary pipe dream.
This is looking good!
PS You have a very nice Genghis Khan mustache.
What do you think about the new ankylosaur larynx find? I think it’s absolutely insane!!! No idea why there is barely any news on it but this is definitely a find if the century!
Agree. Mind-blowing and game changing, but nobody seems to have picked it up. At least we know now!
14:24 I was looking the ceiling thinkig about my life, my soul f*cking ascended 💀
Why Diplodocus? Dippy is the unofficial mascot of London's Natural History Museum.
The allosaurus walked like a morrowind argonian
You should keep watching, if anything, for a future accuracy review.
God, the CGI in this series looks awful, and the dinosaurs look too flexible!
I’m curious to hear your thoughts of a mocumentary series set in the Jurassic universe. Do you think it would be a good idea for Universal to do or not? And if so, how would you do it?
The Stego model WAS actually pulled directly from ARK
16:58
SCP-682, is that you?
4:15 yes the non avian dinosaurs were around for around 160 million years not 180 million
A face to the legend
The stegosaurus is the pre updated ark model as well as the titanosaur. Not sure if any others were stolen though and it seems like wildcard are looking into sueing because it's so blatant.
Get well soon, dude 🤟🏾👍🏾
For paleo myths, you should cover the axe bite theory next
YUP!
This series was lazy enough to steal gaming assets from the Ark video games apparently. At least Jurassic Fight Club made it's own shitty designs
Man, that is completely the case, it's not a rumor.
@@dudotolivier6363 I have seen better animations done by UA-camrs on their laptops. How does a production from a major network look THIS bad. Nobody expected it to be Prehistoric Planet but this animation would have substandard from a documentary 20 years ago
What the hell? That Allosaurus 'skull'. Looks like some sort of mammal/lizard chimera , and those muscles don't make any sense at all.
Even if we assume that the lower jaw don't matter and that the skull of Allosaurus could withstand the force of the blow, he can use his upper jaw like a meatcleaver. Okay, and? We use meatcleavers to cut through something like a bone that is perfectly still, or kill something with a violent blow to the head, that's not useful against a thirty tons Diplodocus ^^'
Unless you can open his skull with a violent blow, but like, if you can grab his skull with a bit, you can kill it too, there's no real advantage there ^^'
EDIT: Okay, they tested it against a watermelon, nevermind, that's totally a valid strategy :p
I guess if Allosaurus hunted watermelons and lettuces, he could used that XD

Where going to get 2 or 3 “Jurassic Fight Clubs” (this)
Sadly, some creators only care about the money, and it sadly shows
I hope the upcoming Netflix documentary is going to be a “WDRA” case (it’s looking to be that way, so I’m not too worried)
