There’s evidence that the Nanotyranus is its own creature. Tooth design (being more KNIFE-like instead of banana-like), skeletal structure and various other elements that are nothing like a T-Rex.
Seriously, baby and adolescent T-Rex can’t change body structure due to growth, seriously.

The reason Walking With Dinosaurs is so fondly remembered besides portraying the dinosaurs as animals and not hollywood movie monsters. Was due to the fact that for the time the series came out (obviously not today) everything was reasonably accurate to our understanding of dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and marine reptiles at the time. With less speculation than modern documentaries, since they were trying to show them as animals and not make them "interesting".

Even in the first Jurassic Park movie, it still portrays the t rex as an animals, and the other dinos as well. The T. rex could have eaten Grant and Malcolm and the kids, but it was satisfied with a goat and a cowardly lawyer. It was retconned in The Lost World that T. rexes still could see something even if it was still.

It is a real shame that Ceratosaurus was treated so badly in this series, especially given how interesting a dinosaur it is. Even it's relationship with Allosaurus was a lot more interesting than the bully/victim scenario shown on the show.
There is strong evidence that Ceratosaurus and Allosaurus had a far more even predatory rivalry something skin to lions and spotted hyenas today. In areas with large Ceratosaurus populations Allosaurus numbers were limited and vice versa, just like hyenas and lions and the Ceratosaurus population may have affected Allosaurus morphology. Allosaurus in areas with high Ceratosaurus numbers had slightly shorter, stronger skulls, suggesting the presence of Ceratosaurus forced Allosaurus to hunt larger prey because Ceratosaurus had the small/medium prey niche filled.
Sadly like hyenas and lions in media, we all know who the favorite is here.

I know in the When Dinosaurs Roamed America documentary it showed a scene of the Allosaurus ambushing and killing a Ceratosaurus, which back then gave me the vibe that they were helpless in comparison. That said, the Lion/Hyena predatory rivalry dynamic helps put it into perspective that just because Ceratosaurus was obviously smaller than Allosaurus, they weren't pushovers necessarily.

You’re reading the Henderson paper completely wrong. Ceratosaurus occurs at much lower frequencies than Allosaurus with the long shouted variant, meaning it was being outcompeted and could only coexist with the short snouted variant. That’s what Henderson says, anyways. All attempts to prove that Allosaurus had different morphotypes has failed until A. madseni, but that distinction has nothing to do with the skull length.

It’s hard to believe how poor this documentary was even for early 2000’s standards, and as a child I absolutely loved this show. All of the creature design choices ranged from mediocre to outright inaccurate, and the fossil interpretations were made to be as dramatic as possible which just makes it cringy and unbearable to watch. It’s interesting how George Blasing was able to book his own show and push his own fanboy narrative so heavily. Hell, even the name of the show is just insulting.

The holotype of Nannotyrannus has always been in a museum and it has been proven that it is indeed a young T. rex, when this happens, the invalid name is called a "junior synonym" and can't never be used again for another creature so even if what's in the dueling dinosaurs fossil proves to be unique it would have to be called something else.

Dinosaurs weren’t any different from animals today, it’s like having a documentary about wolves but only showing them butchering caribou and paying no mind to their social structures and raising young. Like yea sometimes predators murder each other to scratch out competition; but they’re calculated, in an all out brawl even if the winner kills the loser they’re now severely wounded and open to infection and vulnerability to other predators. Posturing, not provocation. It’s a no shit thing to say but obviously animals don’t have stores or hospitals so energy wasted and wounds sustained can have dire consequences, treat them like animals that know that.

most of the complaints were explained by yourself early on. things like pronated claws weren't very popularized yet when this series came out. the only thing i could give you would be the raptors possibly having feathers but i believe this has to do with the popularity of raptor models in jurassic park (which is part of the popularity of raptors in general as before jp they were mostly ignored). and the feathered therapod theory could be argued against given the ceratasaurous mummfied body they found recently that had NO feathers. only ones i've heard actual evidence for it is the dromies.
so a lot of these complaints really have to do with the information they had at the time. kind of like spinosaurus has slowly evolved from a land predator to a full aquatic beast. kind of like with hollywood depictions that could be considered sexist now it's mainly a product of its time with what limitations there were and they evolve as time goes on. look at how t rex used to walk for example vs how they have it move now to give a simple example of understanding of the anatomy of the animals. i'd say the same for the sauropods. it's just an evolution of where they are. i'm sure a lot of things today may be laughed at later on, maybe even the feathered dinosaurs. we'll have to see where new data takes us.

The most insulting part here was how the narration tried really hard to make the mother Majungasaurus sound cruel and evil for eating her own already-dead baby. What did you expect her to do? Give it a decent Christian burial?

The way the show disrespected the ceratosaurus is fucking unforgiveable. They treated them like shit that can't do shit when they are predators so they should be doing shit. Their my favourite dinosaurs and they barely appeared in media even in jurassic park 3 since it got 4 seconds of screen time in the movie. The only movie where it got good screen time and even a fight scene is in one million year B.C and thats basically it.....man I hope one day it rises

Even as a kid I remember thinking the "raptor vs t.rex" episode was bullshit for A: essentially being clickbait as there was no fight between the two as the title would imply (which would be equally as ridiculous if not more so than a pack of dromaeosaurus taking down a full grown edmontosaurus, but at least deliver on what you promised), and B:...well I kind of already went over the other issue at the end of "A", didn't I?
