Don’t feel bad or ever apologise for your frustrations and real life. I appreciate watching someone deal with difficulties with grace and then to continue to peruse their goals. That’s commendable and real life. And it mirrors my own life and personal struggles. As much as UA-cam can be a bit of escapes it’s refreshing and encouraging to see someone real. And it keeps us all hopeful and going too. House project too are a rollercoaster. My hubby is in construction and we are currently renovating a barn and making it our home. It’s up and down and surprises and changes and you name it. And then the cost! So don’t even worry, love. Big hugs! 🖤 the garden is looking beautiful!

Your little house and garden is so sweet. What a blessing to be able to look outside and see all that wonderful nature blooming. It refreshes one's spirit I'm sure. I'm sure everyone understands that you're not a professional as far as the room reno is concerned. Just go at your own pace and don't feel pressured. Also please be careful climbing up and down and take your time. How lovely to receive such a lovely birthday surprise, enjoy.

I’ve followed your channel for years because you are you, not for what you are doing. Your personality is the draw for me, because you are such an authentic and genuinely sweet person. I don’t tune in to keep a”tally” of your “accomplishments” or pass judgment. I tune in to see a real person, dealing with real life….a friend. I don’t know how you manage to do everything that you do. You are a phenomenal force of nature in your determination! Don’t listen to the “voice in your head”, because for most of us women, our head is not a nice place to be. “Talk” to yourself the way you would talk to someone else. We are often so much kinder and encouraging to everyone but ourselves. You truly are going above and beyond your best! You are so much more than enough! 😁🤗🥰

beautiful white petunias! great choice, but, some advice - the lilac needs to be in the ground in full to part sun. It will get root bound in the pot, very quickly, that might kill it, especially if you leave it over winter. Instead, put the clematis in that spot with a trellis. It will do very well there. Spinach needs a lot of water Basil needs to dry out between watering.

The whole point about having your own place is making your mark on it. If it takes a few weeks or 2 seasons especially if your doing it by yourself then you will always remember the journey you took to get to the final goal. Never apologise for figuring out what to do next and how to make it happen x

As someone who worked on finishing a ceiling ages ago, I know how ambitious a project it is. Way different than doing walls as you know because you are working over your head on the horizontal- which as you know is so tiring. You did a lot without sacrificing your garden and other work. When it isn’t a team of professionals there is a lot of figuring out involved - like scaffolding over ladder, you also do have time to figure out what you want to add - like electricity to open windows with your phone. Luckily the daylight is long. You are definitely not alone on experiencing the bumps of home renovations. Good timing on this project as you may have lost a room for the time being but you have gained the sunny days garden space.

Elise your garden is looking fabulous.
Everyone has their frustrations and we just keep plugging along until we work it all out and get the you know what completed. I’m single and 76, and I know what you’re dealing with. Do what you can, and then as funds are available and you need some help, then go for it.
You do not need to apologize for anything my dear, you are doing great!
The skylights are super cool and you will be so happy when it’s all completed.
Not only do you tackle home projects, you run your own business too. Please know you are appreciated and loved by many of us around this world. Such an inspiration with laughter, style, and so many talents that you take for granted but we see you my friend.
Carry on Elise! Let that light of yours shine bright. ❤❤❤❤❤

Joint tapes on plasterboards are really difficult to do. My husband, who is a true handy man didn't do it himself when we have renovated our old farmhouse. We hired a specialised company which did it better and faster than anything we could have ever done. So don't feel guilty, it's just a boring job.

Home projects are usually not "fast" your doing fine. Idea that may help is to get a good solid board to lay across those wood "beams", that way u can put your buckets/tools on it so your not balancing everything on edges or your pockets. It takes time. Thanks for your video. Have a lovely week. :D

Elise, it's YOUR home, YOUR time, YOUR life. Keep living it your way. If it takes you a year to do that skylight (safely) and you are happy with that, then so be it. If you feel you need to get help, then that's also ok, you do a whole lot more than some of us behind our phone screens. Girl its taken me 3 years to reno my kitchen to my standards and liking. It may not be 100 percent perfect but I am happy and have saved soooo much money😀

You and I have very similar garden tastes - green and white and plenty of it LOL You were so lit up with those floral baskets! I admire both your guts to think you could do the putty and your grace in giving it over to someone else, but I also love that it's just you doing what you can on your own. You might not hahaha but it just feels more relatable. Other channels with their on-hand team and sponsorships don't make these projects feel accessible to me. Hi Elise, Here in the USA, Home Depot or any other home improvement store has scaffolding to rent. If they have equipment in Denmark to rent, you can do so, and it will be so much easier. You can also purchase it if you know you or your family will use it. You will have to have a place to store afterward. That way, you can do everything yourself and not pay anyone to do it for you unless you want to.

Don’t feel bad if you end up having to get someone in to finish off the project! You are right, you are just one person and you are doing an amazing job with your home and business. No one expects you to do it all, except maybe yourself

Do you know that you can wet sand? You use a wet to damp sponge, dunking and rinsing it out in water- I would use a small easy to hold bucket. Use the sponge like you would sandpaper. I learned this while working for a contractor years ago rehabbing a Victorian house in the Catskills. It works like a charm and cuts down on the dust. Bit easier on your arms and much easier on your lungs.

The glass vase with the stopper is called a vinegar cruet. I have a collection from my grandmother. They come in all shapes and sizes. Some are etched and some have a lavender hue. I love them.

Smart girl leaving it to the professionals. It can wait till summer is over if need be and you can save up for the drywallers. Who wants to be inside in the summer anyway.

Your garden looks beautiful and I enjoyed the trip to the garden centre, I could easily have moved in. Believe it or not, I get some inspiration from you for my own garden but I have to stop being afraid of it which sounds crazy.
Elise, you are a real person and that is what we like about you. Real people get frustrated sometimes and that is ok. I am nowhere near as brave as you climbing tall ladders etc. Things take time especially when you are on your own and juggling time and jobs. Please remember to have some alone time and go sandal shopping and doing things that give you joy.

Gosh, Elise, mudding and taping is the very hardest part of any drywall job. You are brave to even take it on. Most diy’ers would hang the drywall pieces, then hire the next step out and finish up with the painting.

Renting scaffold for skylight access makes a lot of sense. You'll be confident enough to paint that way. Seems a waste to pay someone to paint (the easy stage) when you've done all the hard work of preparation.
If electrifying the skylights isn't possible, or affordable right now, the old way was to use a long pole with a hook. It would stand out of the way in your utility room.
The metal pot you called a lampshade is meant to go on the wall for plants or utensils. ;)

the skylights are great ! I can't wait to see the room come together.. Don't worry about how long it takes.. it gives you time to read the room and play out some ideas.. might just put a story board together.. or bring some colors in the room....or textiles..or plants... beautiful objects .. or even some of your artwork :). or framed. pieces.lay it around while you work...see them at different time of the day .. Just play!!
