As a 61-year-old grandmother, I marvel at how styles cycle through. I see so many references to the decor of the late 80’s-90’s in this space and I’m blown away that anyone could revel in it. She was glad to see that style leave but I think it’s great. I think Alexandra accurately recreated the look and it’s lovely to see such a delighted homeowner! I love James’ funny editing touches!!
I'm cracking up, too, because as a 41 year old this was basically what my bedroom looked like between the ages of 7-12. LOL! I was all about those florals, lace, ruffles, and frills. Somehow this space looks amazing, though! It's definitely not exactly my aesthetic but I'm more maximalist than minimalist so a little is totally ok with me.
@@kriscox4019 right?? My fave bedspread set was big pink roses and the accent colors were like sages and white. And pink and white striped ruffles. Hi Alexandra & Team! I’m 60 years old and fascinated by your Studio and Tiny Space makeovers! Next year I’ll be downsizing from a 2 bed/2 bath apartment to a basement studio and I’m both excited and NERVOUS! I’ve never lived in a studio before and I’ve already started to declutter ruthlessly. Your videos have given me so many ideas as well as laughs-you and your team have such team spirit and authenticity. 💜
You'll do well. Think of it as an adventure and only surround yourself with things that you absolutely love. I'm 60 also and may be downsizing in a year or two. Good blessings to you.
I've lived in studio apartments most of my adult life. And it is so much fun creating spaces in such a small space. Remember you can use tall bookshelves as walls. You can paint or use peel and stick paper on the back side and use it as a divider, and hang pictures on i. t Bookshelves in general are great dividers. So are dressers. That is just one idea. There is so much you can do in a small space. I am always surprised at how much i never need a couch. We always end up at the round dining table. Somehow food is always involved. Good luck to you.
Alexandra is way too creative to get some cookie-cutter makeover. I love the clothes she chooses and her hair is beautiful. Trolls are jealous, sad people and no one should pay one bit of attention to them. Reply
I'm 70 and grew up with a twin of the coffee table. My only add to the room would be a combo floor lamp/table to soften the empty corner and angle that gorgeous chair to create a reading nook. With that one change you'll add another function to the sweet cozy room.
My mother, the wallpaper Queen, used wallpaper border for everything! She liked to ‘frame’ doorways 😍 and windows😍. She also ‘framed’ gallery walls and massive frameless oil paintings to make them appear even larger (leave about 6” between painting and border). She made our humble homes absolutely fantastic works of art with wallpaper. ❤
Same here! Even noticing the difference in that fringe on the sofa makes, and the wall paper by the mantle. I'm going thrifting next week in search of inspo.
Your style is one of the reasons why I watch your channel. I love how you're like your spaces: authentic and very aesthetic without being plasticky. I feel really sorry for whoever took the time to try to make you feel 'less than'. They must be very unhappy. Gorgeous, as always.

no no no no....that is not done anything like a English Countryside home. (Maybe the ones that are barking mad....certainly not the people with good taste).
A real English Countryside room would evolve over time. They don't go out and buy everything at once. She put in things she loves but the client may not. That border around the walls is ridiculous. Orange sofa and pepto bismal walls...just no. I really like this girl but I think she needs some color therapy education for one and hope she continues doing her thing. She is awfully sweet. Also, don't buy decor items until the room is already together...please, it is a designer mistake. I don't add these comments just to be trolling. I truly want this sweet girl to develope her talents. I love decorating and I just throw out some ideas so she can continue to improve. I am hooked on this show. Oh, wow, that one where she made the bed into a little private nook was over the top...love it. It was cozy and the bed was no longer the first thing you see when you walk into the place. Good job!
Placing a new fireplace frame and mantle on an old fireplace frame is genius. Putting the fringe on a sofa is genius. Lots of great ideas to change up a look. I love the pink wall paint. Beautiful room.
Seriously, watching this reveal again, I just don’t understand how you do it. This is such an art. You could have a television show, product line and coffee table books. You are absolutely one of the most talented designers out there. Particularly considering that you have to work within tight constraints of time, space, and money. There are lots of wonderful designers who make similarly beautiful spaces, but that’s when the sky’s the limit in all categories.
I don't know why I cry at the room reveal in every single video, especially seeing the Befores and Afters. It's almost as though I'm the owner not them. So happy for them! Your work is beautiful and has exceeded my expectations in every video I've watched so far (I'm a new subscriber). I hope you keep these makeovers coming!

And lastly, I was so happy to see you put a custom cushion in the window! Such a nice spot to sit, have morning coffee or read a magazine while getting some vitamin D. Another thoughtful makeover!
My favorite makeover by far not because of the decor but the recipient Andrienne (not sure of spelling) I like how detailed she was in knowing what she wanted but letting go and trusting Alexandra, then her expression of appreciation at the end. Everyone is appreciative but it was something about her.

This is one of my favorite make- overs, I love the colors, patterns, and decor. The room looks like it has evolved over time. And that lamp on the fireplace is so pretty. Great job. I love to see Ms. Gater step out of her box to create different styles.
Graham is a genius! That fireplace! ❤ I love what y’all did with the walls. The scalloped wall paper is such a cute touch. The colors, rug, furniture, decor, curtains-nailed it! 🩷
You’re gorgeous and I love your personal style and your amazing eye for decorating. Your channel is my happy place. I’ve been DIYing a whole house renovation (turning a restaurant into a home while I live in it) for years and I’ve gotten so much inspiration from you. Thank you!
As a grandma chic millennial, this one really hit for me. Great job! I still wish you’d show more of the going through the different things you guys did with them.
This makeover is amazing with so many things to look at. Young people like the vinage style and older generation want modern. Styles will mix and match thanks to designers like you. Great job Alexander.
I agree. This look was popular in the late 19th century and early 20th century. It was popular again in the early 80’s and has been popular again a few years now. I’m 70 and really like modern decor.-Susan
This is so amazing! It's like you've drawn this woman's self-portrait in three dimensions - it's clear she feels like you tapped right into her aesthetic - just magnificent.
Everything about that room is my idea of 70s hell. But I'm still incredibly impressed that you took the contents of someone's mind and made it real. I hate it in every way. But I also kind of love it.
This room is stunning!! While I am a huge fan of pink, I wondered about painting the whole room and ceiling. But it's gorgeous! Every detail came together beautifully in this room. I would just sit in there all day, getting nothing done. 😍😍
Troll's are apparently so insecure about themselves, shame on you! Your jealousy is tragic! Alexandra is confident yet humble her qualities are appreciated and her Design is always Beautiful ! She makes us all Happy! I feel like crying this makover is my Favorite!
I've seen quite a few of your videos and always admire what you've done . This time around you've out done yourself in terms of your DIVERSE design style. Not all can be tha t way. You put yourself in the actual the specific style your doing. Just great!
This room is lovely!! I will say that its not really english country style- as someone who obsessively watches a lot of House & Garden UK, the style of ehat you did here is more eclectic than even a modern english farmhouse style. I know some of the mid-century modern pieces here were gifted to you, like the bookshelves, but I think those pieces make it feel more ecletic than farmhouse/granny chic. I would swap the bookcases for a hutch or a chippendale bookcase. The scalloped trim is cute, but theres PVC (if you wanna be budget friendly) ornate crown moulding that would fit the style better. Finally, I think layering pattern and color is very important in this style, but you also need your eyes to breathe. I think the floral wallpaper clashes with the new fireplace- the old one probably would have been a better fit, since it pulls some of the green thats in the leaves of the wallpaper. The pink walls are lovely, but having the curtains also be pink is overwhelming and almost feels a little too chintzy. Its ok to keep some elements simple, so for curtains I feel like a thick linen curtain in white or oatmeal would fit the theme and provide levity to the room. I think the room is really fun and if the client loves it, thats all that matters! This is just feedback from a person who loves interior design for future projects. Statement pieces and colors are amazing, but if everything is a statement, nothing is.
I have a degree in Interior Design and I have ADHD plus I’m very OCD, the Granny Chic style agitates my OCD and the busy mish/mash of styles and colors keeps my ADHD bouncing all over the place. However, you have accomplished this style better than anyone designer I’ve ever seen and I’m very old, so I’ve been around. Thank you for your fresh perspective.
Graham is the star of this show. Alexandra often has good ideas but he's the one that executes because he's got the knowledge, expertise, and skills. Oh, and shocker, Alexandra likes the paint colour. It's pink like all her paint colours. If I ignore the colour of the paint, I do get learn some new stuff from Graham each time.

Nice...Granny Chic...who knew... Graham knocked it out of the park with that fireplace surround
Rarely have I ever wanted to steal every single thing from a room but this one takes the cake. I want allll of it! So so perfect
Saturday morning routine! Got my coffee, ready to watch this makeover!😍
I love that kind of paint hue that shifts color with the light & time of day. Yours went from pink to lilac to plum. Gorgeous! Great choice!
OH MY GOSH THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COZY WARM HAPPY FUN ECCLECTIC DREAM. Love it so much!
As someone living in Tokyo, this is definitely NOT a tiny living room, but I love what you did with it!
In the 80's we called tha trim "Wallpaper border" I love how everything old is new again.
80s chic here and remember this well
I can watch Graham work all day long. Crazy amazing the talent.
I don't blame you for being obsessed with Jawbreaker paint color, it's beautiful!
Thank you!
Whether you like the end result of this space or not, Team A.G. has again met their clients brief.
Well done, Team A.G, for doing this.😊
As a grandma chic millennial, this one really hit for me. Great job! I still wish you’d show more of the going through the different things you guys did with them.
I looovvveee everything but I would love her own painting of the old man hung instead of the etsy print. 💐 Great job with this makeover 💓
Love: fireplace, thrifted chair, gold sofa, wallpaper, TV art, framed print, wall color, mantle lamp. Work fine: coffee table, rug, floor lamp, bookshelves. Would have chosen differently: curtains, pillows, Bambi ceramic. Overall -- a delicious confection, and the client seems thrilled.
I honestly still can't get over how that fireplace looks against all the other colors in the room. I adore it. I live for it. I die for it.
While not my design aesthetic, the room came out fabulously. Great work, as always! Graham is a must keep!
Incredible! So beautiful!! And she seems to really really love it which is the cherry on top!
Be yourself. You're adorable and I love all your room makeover
English country doesn't look like this either... I actually like it in other people's homes
This room is stunning!! While I am a huge fan of pink, I wondered about painting the whole room and ceiling. But it's gorgeous! Every detail came together beautifully in this room. I would just sit in there all day, getting nothing done. 😍😍
This looks so cosy! But a checkered fireplace, guess I don’t have enough of the UK gene🫢
I love how her dress is matching the vibe of this room!!! It’s meant to be ❤
Troll's are apparently so insecure about themselves, shame on you! Your jealousy is tragic! Alexandra is confident yet humble her qualities are appreciated and her Design is always Beautiful ! She makes us all Happy! I feel like crying this makover is my Favorite!
I'm LIVING for that grandma chair in the corner. Perfect example of furniture I'd marry if I could
It’s hard for me to like a video of a room with a style i don’t like but if the customer is happy, I’m happy for them!!
Love your client interviews, Alexandra and the outcomes from their original inspirations.
Graham is awesome, such skills!!
Love everything except the fireplace tile. Everything else is gorgeous!
I love the coziness of this room. And the colour!!!! ❤
I've seen quite a few of your videos and always admire what you've done . This time around you've out done yourself in terms of your DIVERSE design style. Not all can be tha t way. You put yourself in the actual the specific style your doing. Just great!
Every room you do just keeps getting better and better!
It's like a Cotswold B&B! Very cozy. The new fireplace surround is genius.
That Troll is a fool!! I'm always screenshotting your cute clothes and Google searching them to buy!! You're literally my style icon! 😍
There are often links yo her clothing in the video descriptions....might save yourself some google time!!
You posting always brings me so much joy ❤❤
I have a degree in Interior Design and I have ADHD plus I’m very OCD, the Granny Chic style agitates my OCD and the busy mish/mash of styles and colors keeps my ADHD bouncing all over the place.
However, you have accomplished this style better than anyone designer I’ve ever seen and I’m very old, so I’ve been around.
Thank you for your fresh perspective.
You look amazing!!! Don’t listen to the trolls!! Also thank you to team AG for hyping my girl up 🙏♥️♥️
This is honestly one of the best makeovers you've done lately, love the vintage vibes!
What is it that Graham, "CANNOT DO"! He's very talented.
This would be my dream. The gentle coziness of the room looks like the design version of a huge hug from your most favorite person. ❤
the reveal had me gasping
I truly don’t understand how your channel hasn’t blown up more. I hope you go so far Alexandra! You and your team are truly amazing.
This would be my nightmare. Glad you pleased your customer, that is 100% most important.
That wallpaper! My heart just sings & I want it somewhere I can see every day!
Graham is the star of this show. Alexandra often has good ideas but he's the one that executes because he's got the knowledge, expertise, and skills. Oh, and shocker, Alexandra likes the paint colour. It's pink like all her paint colours. If I ignore the colour of the paint, I do get learn some new stuff from Graham each time.
the client wanted pink?? what else was she supposed to do lmao
If you just want Graham's content maybe ask him if he would bring back his channel? @Handymangraham
Graham has the execution, and I think Alexandra has the vision. The whole team complements each other!
Love, love, love this room! It is so beautiful. And please, ignore people who critize you personally. You are so bubbly and real. Please don't change.
