    That RGV250 was a beautiful and fast bike. My first bike back in 1999 was the baby Brother RG125 FUN. fond memories. Thanks

    Met Whitham at the weekend,top bloke really down to earth,he has seen the post and remembers the race well!Pointed out Steve Ives was out in front until he ran off and that Foggy's bike was faster than his RGV!

    I remember watching this live. What an awesome race between two of the best. It also really heralded the future dominance of the 4 strokes in this class.

    I remember a journalist from Performance Bikes magazine in the 90's stating "Northman Whitham's hanging off riding style was developed to search for 20p's on the track"

      Identical to Phil Mellors style, using the head as the weight to pull it round. As the moto gp lads do now 😊

    this is one of my fave all time races....earlier in the race they were all over each other constantly passing,sliding and almost crashing...good to watch.

    I think i was there, we were standing just after the bridge. Excellent race and if I recall both were out later on 750's. I think Whit was on the GSXR then

    SS400 was great racing but the 400's always had the advantage of a longer useable power/rev range - both Foggy & Whitham were class acts :-)

    Is this the same James Whitham that was riding the BSB bikes round at about 30 mph for his Eurosport feature last year?
    Haha,Don't worry James,time waits for no man-it just makes us love you even more!
    Hope James and Jack continue to grace the BSB series forever more,they really are the best commentary team ever.

    No other NC30 was this fast, this bike had HRC bits on it. Although SS400 was a production based class. Hmmmm.

    Like some amateur. Fogarty looking behind 5000 times. Now since Whitham it's Eurosport comentator i have great respect for the guy. Very professional

    They should have made the new Moto2 class between 350cc 2-Strokes and 600cc 4-Strokes.

      The rgv 250 was brilliant and that's why aprilla 250 was so successful in racing as suzuki supplied them the engines.

      @@mcopperwheat If I can find it and digitalise it, got to be careful it's not a Greenlight production like the IOM races as they take it down. Anyway at some point in the race Foggy shakes the back of James's seat as he passes. funny pair playing to the crowd.

      @@pablomero6228 ThE bikes are not as "top technology" as F3 used to be...in fact they are 7" slower than MOTO3...but they are the most "together" races ever! Groups of 15-20 together all ThE race, every race....even hilarious! Impossible to know who is going 3rd or 4th...

      Why didn't you know, they were blamed as THE MAIN CULPRITS for Global Warming !
      RG500 CH (1989) Pepsi-Suzuki "Kevin Schwantz" GP Race Replica, Interestingly, the last of the street RG500s (the H model) had almost the same power output as the original works racers!

      They were amazing...but ThE positive thing IS that ThE 1000cc MotoGP are way faster...And this IS what makes ThE races super. ThE faster, ThE better

      @@pabloperez4063 they are not faster. They just stopped developing the 2 strokes… when they raced together for 2002 season, development of 2t had stopped 2 years prior and still they were pretty close

    The Aprilia RS 250 was faster than the RGV .I would say at least 1 second.I rode it 1995 1996.

      You don’t know what you’re talking about. Are you new to motorcycles? 🙄That rgv250 makes the same or more hp than that vfr 400 while also being up to 40 kg lighter.

      No I'm not new to motorcycles....I actually saw Fogartys father George race many times....and it's probably you who doesn't know what you're talking about.....I'm fully aware of 2 stroke bhp per litre compared with 4 strokes and their different characteristics......in fact it's possible I've forgotten more about racing 2 strokes than you currently know.....

    I remember Steve Ives in a prody race at cadwell park when I was marshalling he came past me giving me the rods while laughing i got my own back in the pub later when i put salt in his beer lol them were the days

    One of their later WSB races at a wet Monza - Carl was leading, saw it was James behind, so stood on his pegs and wiggled his bum at James.
