Met Whitham at the weekend, top bloke really down to earth,he has seen the post and remembers the race well!Pointed out Steve Ives was out in front until he ran off and that Foggy's bike was faster than his RGV!
I remember watching this live. What an awesome race between two of the best. It also really heralded the future dominance of the 4 strokes in this class.
I remember a journalist from Performance Bikes magazine in the 90's stating "Northman Whitham's hanging off riding style was developed to search for 20p's on the track"
this is one of my fave all time races....earlier in the race they were all over each other constantly passing, sliding and almost crashing...good to watch.
Is this the same James Whitham that was riding the BSB bikes round at about 30 mph for his Eurosport feature last year? Haha,Don't worry James, time waits for no man-it just makes us love you even more! Hope James and Jack continue to grace the BSB series forever more, they really are the best commentary team ever.
I don't doubt it mate,Whit was one of my heroes when i got into biking in my teens. You don't loose it,you just appreciate the benefits of self preservation when you break rather than bounce!
I think i was there, we were standing just after the bridge. Excellent race and if I recall both were out later on 750's. I think Whit was on the GSXR then
I agree two top blokes&I can't believe Foggy raced the same bike I now own!,Thanks to him&his daughter I once owned a Ducati 998 Matrix Reloaded edition!!.
@@mcopperwheat If I can find it and digitalise it, got to be careful it's not a Greenlight production like the IOM races as they take it down. Anyway at some point in the race Foggy shakes the back of James's seat as he passes. funny pair playing to the crowd.

@@pabloperez4063 they are not faster. They just stopped developing the 2 strokes… when they raced together for 2002 season, development of 2t had stopped 2 years prior and still they were pretty close
Brilliant racing Foggy showing the heart of a Lion as usual. Well done Carl on winning the jungle challenge. You deserved it. The public saw you for what you are a great normal bloke! Well done mate .
You don’t know what you’re talking about. Are you new to motorcycles? 🙄That rgv250 makes the same or more hp than that vfr 400 while also being up to 40 kg lighter.
No I'm not new to motorcycles....I actually saw Fogartys father George race many times....and it's probably you who doesn't know what you're talking about.....I'm fully aware of 2 stroke bhp per litre compared with 4 strokes and their different characteristics......in fact it's possible I've forgotten more about racing 2 strokes than you currently know.....
One of the nicest blokes you could ever hope to meet in the paddock. And Carl Fogarty.
Englands finest riders of the 80's & 90's on the road and track. Top men

That RGV250 was a beautiful and fast bike. My first bike back in 1999 was the baby Brother RG125 FUN. fond memories. Thanks
Proper bikes proper pilots they wer the glory days of racing legends amazing trust in each other

I remember this on the telly year's ago now..
Thanks for your upload.. :)

Identical to Phil Mellors style, using the head as the weight to pull it round. As the moto gp lads do now 😊
this is one of my fave all time races....earlier in the race they were all over each other constantly passing, sliding and almost crashing...good to watch.
Jamie was awesome.
more bike racing from that era coming soon, glad you are enjoying it too!
Vfr400 against rgv 250 nice ride both and hero's of mine
Great race between two great friends
SS400 was great racing but the 400's always had the advantage of a longer useable power/rev range - both Foggy & Whitham were class acts :-)

Quality racing from two legends
AWESOME!!! we need more more .. the whole race would be good... any 250/400 action!

awesome ! thanks for sharing these
I was flag marshall on this very day. What a race !
I have the full race on VHS somewhere great days.
If you can still get a player for it !
The rgv 250 was brilliant and that's why aprilla 250 was so successful in racing as suzuki supplied them the engines.
upload it to youtube, this has nearly 500000 views. I and many others would love to see it.

They use two race 250cc 2T vs 400cc 4T , also in the TT
Like some amateur. Fogarty looking behind 5000 times. Now since Whitham it's Eurosport comentator i have great respect for the guy. Very professional
Why does looking back make him an amateur?
400 Supersport, they should bring this class back
No
Your request 5 years ago has been heard in the skies above:
Now we have SUPERSPORT 300 CHAMPIONSHIP
@@pabloperez4063 That is cool, I watched most all races last year on SBK.com website.

Amazing video....I had the epic NC30 in Taiwan
250 2-strokes & 400 4-strokes? What is/was this racing formula called? Great racing btw :)
Beautiful to watch... thanx.
Great stuff, thanks for posting it.
Could you have guessed I wanted the NC to win it? ;o)
They should have made the new Moto2 class between 350cc 2-Strokes and 600cc 4-Strokes.
No other NC30 was this fast, this bike had HRC bits on it. Although SS400 was a production based class. Hmmmm.
Real racers in real times❤️👍
what year was this?
Late 80's maybe...?
Anyone know how worked this NC30 is? Damn beautiful to see this footage... nice upload.
Glad you liked la battaglia!
Glad you liked it!
Good stuff, don't see races like that these days !!! thanx for replying my e-mail so soon, we will have to meet up for a beer soon, Bye for now , Neil.
Whitham said in 2017 that he had a broken ring after a few laps in the race
Great vid good memories :)
Now thats a battle that we could understand
Yeah! NC30 vs RGV250- awesome! Go honda V4!
NR 750 RVF....one of the best And most beautiful And most advanced bikes ever
Wish 2 strokes never died
2 strokes are good

Monkey see, monkey do
Atomici!!!!! MOTO, GAS, ADRENALINA, DIVERTIMENTO, PALLE!!!!! ...altro che l`elettronica odierna e le mezzeseghette in pista...
that was cool. more please. :D
Yes agreed great rivalry, but these two are best of mates, where as Sete and Valentino.........well!
Because Valentino needs hate in order to win
What’s the HP of those bikes? Cheers
wow used to love jamie whitham, always wanted whitam to win but fogarty always used to pip the post ,nice upload
Need some footage of Jamie in the wet, phenomenal racer, funny as feck and a proper gent.
racing colors of the 90's pink, orange and lots of neon colors...
I still have a racing suite from dainese..horrible color today can`t wear more. Pink, Black and Purple.... lol
this is fuckin awesome mate do you have any other nc30 racing clips?

British Supersport 400 Championship 1991.
Fogarty è un dio...he's a god
Fantastic
Bhè, si vedeva a occhio che la Honda di Foggy andava il doppio!!! Bella la battaglia 2 tempi VS 4 tempi...
that was brilliant m8 ;)
Excellent Video! POST MORE!!! RGV250 would of won if foggy blocked him in the corner exits
cracking race shows the strengths and weakness of 2 and 4 strokes,
fogarty makes me laugh forever looking over his shoulder
Seemed to work for him though; especially getting a good idea what line Jamie was taking behind him.
Because he lost his mirror somewhere down ThE track
Great stuff
exciting AND NICE WORKS!!!
1 great race, 2 legends 3 crazy eyes
Jamie was fantastic! I ended up with a pair of his Marchi wheels off his BSB Gixer....unreal.
One of their later WSB races at a wet Monza - Carl was leading, saw it was James behind, so stood on his pegs and wiggled his bum at James.
400cc against 250cc 🙄.....even it is a 2 stroke...that win was no big deal Carl......

@@flybywir1 so why aren’t you giving the 400cc credit for the win when it’s considered the underdog in this match up. Would you mind explaining?
I've got a couple of Supersport 400 races but they mostly feature RGV's and KR1's not your beloved four stroke. Will have a look for you anyway.
Foggy spent longer looking behind than forward …!
What 400 v 250 did I hear right
You wont ever see them days off racing again, absolute gentlemen of superbike racing 👌
This was called Formula 3 or F3. Before the SV650s etc.. ps.. Carl Fogarty is David Patrick Kelly..
just enjoy the racing.
rgv 250 suzuki two stroke , amazing !!
¿RG 250 vs vfr 400?
Sultanes del Swing.
Before electronics pussified motorcycle racing
It was a thing waiting to happen...because in those days ThE HP were 4 time less
Im sure you could control 260bhp! 😂
ive owned both those bikes.
Shout out to my mate Steve Ives who was beating both of them
Yeah top lad is Steve as is his brother, Ian. Many a laugh with them up at their shop in Hyde
As Wayne Rainey once said "To finish 1st first you gotta finish"!
Remember this well.
Fogarty always beat whitham most of the time.
Whitham not getting the rear end right out on this one haha.

No replacement for displacement.
Steve Ives should have won this one!!!!!!!!
Good race.
Brilliant is James
As featured in PB!
proper sportsmen
...and Jamie too!!!
oh yes sorry 1991 didn't see that at first.
Love the crap comentaters talk . Jamie whitam not at all disappointed with 2nd . He's a racer hes pissed off with second
2nd place is the first loser
Cadweel?
they sure are fast bike being so small..
They look really fast ! Imagine if they were riding 250 GP...
scared? probly more like checking him to take the right lines to block Witham.
Did anyone mention how many times James looked forward at Carl’s A$$?
@JeremyGSU u must be under 20 then as fogarty was the daddy in the mid to late 90's
I thought Haga ran close ha ha.
Stroker baby.
@doraemaman Wrong- NC30 VFR400. V4 rulez! No in-line shit here!
foggy looks scared of witham! looking round to see where he is at every corner!
You can only look back if you are in front.
Oh no, not steve parrish again!!!
