This should have been a thing, beautiful build! So tastefully done, i can't fault 1 thing no matter how hard i try lol... 👌
Its just too bad sorros spent so much money there will be no justice if that car you worked so hard for ends up on blocks, or in a chop shop.
Larry big love from Europe man ! Tanks for finding & presented this epic S2000-R project it looks way better than what i would imagine ! if you can get update on this when you manage to film how good it handles and maybe tell us how Honda officials react to this awesome build. Keep up the awesome job can't wait to see more such cool stuff !
If only Honda could bring back the S2000 and R it, however I can’t imagine the premium they would charge on a limited quantity release. This S2000R is out of this world!
It'd probably be cheaper to just get it from these dudes in the end, knowing dealer mark ups and stuff
@@undetermined_user not even dealer mark ups. Msrp would be way to high. to reproduce all new parts, re organize assembly lines for a car that hasn't been produced in over a decade and meet current safety standards.
Honestly I would love to see a new S2000 with the K24 engine from Honda motorsports themself.
Nissan has the program to refresh Skyline GTRs to Clubman Race Spec with fresh newly hand built engines. I don't see why Honda and Toyota can't do it.
I believe Honda is infact rebirthing the S2000 and will be releasing an s2000 type r. Only problem is it will be all electric.
@@HowardFBeale-ql6gk gay
Directly from the project leader of the S2000, Shigeru Uehara, when asked why there wasn't a Type R version, he said the S2000 was essentially already a Type R because there was very little room left for improvement as it was already engineer at a very high level from the start. Unlike the other "base" Hondas.
nope there’s always room for improvement he just lazy
@@deltapromasterlauj4848 actually, at the time (1995), no there wasn't.
The idea behind the s2000 was a roadster that performed like a race car that "everyone" can afford. The s2000 was packed to the teeth when it eventually hit the market in 1999. It was already producing more HP per liter then any other production car which I think Porsche finally ended up beating like years down the line.
Now as you said, there's always room for improvement. I think they felt the Americans did not like having to rev the car so high to reach those HP levels. With the introduction of the AP2 revision, they lowered the rev output in favor for a slight boost in mid range power.
The car was as stated above, already on performance levels of a type R. I guess one could say the CR model would have been that type R but the only purpose behind it was to create something even more light weight to bridge the other side of the s2000 vision. A affordable out of the box track car
If the NSX-R exists, why not S2k?
@@deltapromasterlauj4848 ya blew it
I agree, it was spect'd out and engineered way better than any other Honda from the starting point. But that being said. Wasn't much room for improvement ‽‽ I think this video right here proves that there was ALOT of room to improve upon from stock. I mean c'mon, did you watch the video
This is such a cool build. I love the white on white. Honda didn't officially produce a S2000 Type R however, they did give the F20 and F22 motors red valve covers. This is only reserved for the Type R cars. If you ask me, in essence... All S2000s are Type Rs.
This is a real tribute to the S2000 and I think you guys have nailed it. Its sublime ❤
I dont, motor is the best part and they dropped it, they did very little otherwise
I remember watching a best motoring video where the chief engineer of the s2k who also worked on the nsx r and integra and civic type R's said that the s2k was built to type r spec, which is why they came with red valve covers, the s2k was basically a type r from stock because they put so much into designing and building it, and because it was being released for the year 2000 and a heritage car etc. They went all out on it
They probably didn't push the chassis to the limit like they did with the engine. It's not stich welded like the Type Rs, but then again the Type Rs were based on normal cars. They needed the extra work on the chassis to perform at that level. Either way, they missed an opportunity...there's even an NSX-R. Maybe they should've named the CR Type R instead. Would be interesting to know from Honda why there wasn't a S2000 R/Type-R
I don’t doubt the price. currently building a spoon catalog s2000 and parts alone cost more than the car itself. these builds are incredible when done right 👍🏼
I really hope that this sparks something in Honda with how well this is being received. I love my FL5 but an S2000 being a RWD legend just makes me want to get one.
You seriously should. I just got an ‘02 AP1 and it’s just… unexplainably amazing. I bet that you got that CTR for that practicalness, but the S2000 is a whole nother experience.
best manual trans I've ever driven tbh.
Well received by who? They dressed up an S2K, what did they really do?
@@Resch72113 Damn, I'm 3 months late. But, watch the video again and pay attention to the parts with the K20 and turbo... it's faster than your S2000, for sure... that's what they did. They didn't just "dress it up".
So clean. Would look incredible next to a white NSX-R.
Not even lying when I say I’ve envisioned this build in my mind ever since the k20c was revealed but the attention to detail with updating the front end is crazy on this. I want to see this level of detail done on an EG and Del Sol.
Check out the Built By Legends EG
It's nice but not better than opera performance x spoon sports type one x built by legend Honda civic eg6 sir 2
Touch much fromt end weight in for my taste. I would build the car first then pour whatever i have left into a J37a v6.
That is such an incredible build! I was always an OEM+ enthusiast when I got into cars back in the early 2000's, everyone else wanted big wheels, huge stereos, bright colours, etc it's awesome to see it going this way now.
OMG dream car status 😍. I really hope Evasive starts a restomod program for the S2000 like Singer, Gunther Werks etc does with Porsche. In my opinion it would be a great move on Evasive’s part if they did. The waiting list would be bananas.
You should see opera performance honda
I love this! It’s exactly how we’d imagine a S2K type-R. Great job!
in my opinion I think it’s a little too much to be a genuine Type-R. it’s an awesome build but too far to be considered OEM Honda lol.
Except the turbo...
IMO what made the S2K special is the high revving NA motor
@@maybewibu5358 It's the modern version of what they perceive to be a S2000 Type R which would likely include a turbo given Honda's current lineup, and the state of the industry these days. Not what old guys like us remember, but the world isn't the same for us.
@@SonNguyen-mk2wq i agree about that, if there will be an s2k today they most definitely would use that engine OR WORSE ELECTRIC... But as for this build I'm kinda sad he take out the F20C
SHut up and take my money.
I think this is fantastic! As a former AP2 S2K owner I like just about everything about this. I will say that the high-revving N/A engine is what gives the S2000 a lot of its lovable character, so were I to build an "R" version I'd find a way to keep that layout while bumping power a bit. But that's just me, the execution here is awesome and they did a great job.
I love that Evasive recognizes the best way to enjoy a S2000 is with no roof over your head. These guys definitely get a big thumbs up for execution as this car does look like it could have been a factory offering for the most part. I've always imagined that Honda not offering a Type R version of the S2000 had something to do with the fact that in their base form, the S series cars were the only purpose-built sports cars Honda produced. Even the NSX required certain allowances for comfort/luxury as an upscale GT/supercar.
Honda s2000 is na for reason it's a real drivers car no turbo just hearing the engine rev high
If I had a rhd Japanese spec Honda s2000 and lots of spare extra money I would have it shipped back to Japan and have chassi work and other one off parts install done by opera performance of Yasuyuki Yamamoto, have either asm yokohoma or full mugen kit
THIS is the epitome of OEM+ and I'm in love!
Not really
@@olavofernandes7286 explain?
Not at all, this is pretty lackluster consider the S2K’s evasive has built
15 year s2000 owner here. and the boys at evasive have done it again. well done boys!
Larry is one of the best car enthusiast interviewers. Asks the right questions, allows time for the owners/builders to talk. Perfect engagement.
But Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that he just came into Harry's and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS, and a Motec system exhaust.
0:14 Larry is the GOAT!
Larry, I love you ran through the questioning and all aspects covered. I can go on. Instant follow. Kudos to you
This S2000 R is insane and it looks just like OEM. Fantastic craftsmanship and well done gents. :) Don't mind to order one.
hyped you got to make this video, been following the build process online
Great coverage Larry! This has to be the best S2000R mod!! Absolutely amazing designs.
Dope. Thank u for capturing this and sharing it with the world, Larry. We appreciate u
So awesome! I miss my S2000. Today I still have an FK8 in the garage. It would be a dream to have them combined into an S2000R!
This is the nicest Honda build I've seen in the last 20 years. Amazing work.
I love the idea of resto-modding the S2000. This looks fantastic. Personally though, I'd want the option to keep the F20C, the true heart of the S2000 👍👍.
Best idea of a build in recent years. Congrats and thank you from all the community.
Didn't know I was waiting for your video on this car, but I'm so glad you released it... so awesome
I’ll take 3: 1st is being driven every day, 2nd will be for show, 3rd to be used as my coffin & buried in when I die. Thank you ❤
I absolutely love this build! 😍 Everything is done OEM correct for a car that was never made. The craftsmanship and imagination to materialize this into reality is fantastic. 🏆💪
I love this shop. Almost took my MR2 here when looking at engine swap options. When I've got some real money I'm definitely going to Evasive for my next build.
One of the coolest builts I have seen for a long time.... Well done...
Amazing job Larry! I owned a 2006 S2000 and loved it. I can see how people may want an NA version. The cool thing about this build is it is one interpretation. Obviously if people wanted an NA version they could go make one. For me I love this turbo version and all the unseen details that make this R look like an actual OEM release. I like the brakes and tires, that would be interesting to hear more about as well. An under body shot would be cool too. Anyway, very well done video. Love the content! And the additional interview at the end was fun!
So sad that Honda didnt make one of these in the early S2000 days its such a cool car its crappy that they did the cheapest car Honda made in a Type R but not one of the most expensive ! Its sweet that the front bumper is blacked out in the middle it looks so much better like that instead of paint matched !
I'm blown away that people could do stuff like this! Amazing! I wouldn't even know where to start!
That's a clean S2000...I did a roll race with a tuned one, and I thought for sure I would obliterate off the roll, but we were neck and neck until I reached a higher speed. They are fast and light weight.
Out of this world! 😍 Magnificent car and great video too!
Gorgeous car, I love everything you did to it. Saw the NSX next to it, what a pair.
Absolutely GENIUS!!! Ok, how much??? I’m in.
I bought my wife a 2018 Si, 2019 Type R, 2021 Type R, now she is driving an Acura Integra Type S.
I want this car so bad!!
Super awesome beautiful car. Awesome work. Thanks for sharing.
Other than needing a little skirting to cover up those mounting points on the bottom, it's perfect. Beautiful work
Such a excellent expose Larry. Capturing Evasive think outside the box take on S2000 R. There will be a demand. Hey Top Rank knows this👌
This is beautiful inside and out. I’m not a Honda guy truth be told, but this! If you know nothing at all you know this is special.
Wow, great job. The S2000 and other older JDM does need an update performance-wise, what you did is really factory like.
Was not the biggest fan of the new bumper design, but in this execution it REALLY works. Beautiful build gentleman!
It’s about time someone addresses this !! Super clean, well done y’all !!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
What a machine! Brilliant work.
Oh yeah! Awesome, just awesome! Hope you make a bunch of them. None will be the same of course but each will be beautiful.
Amazing guy from Evasive, such a calmness and knowledge in his words. The little details 🥹… If you know you know. Like the Nsx steering wheel cap.
This has to be the cleanest and most OEM future S2000 in the world. I think it even surpasses what Honda could even do a Type R S2000. It's like an OEM + version of that car if Honda ever made one. Absolutely love it and great job to you guys for achieving such a great build. The only thing you might want to do is look into the ID4motion digital cluster. They make a fully digital dash for the S2K. and like you said, the true experience of this car is with the top down like a real roadster, having that huge rev band layout on the dash but with modern supporting information and customisability, that id4motion dash will tick all the boxes. not to mention its full size so looks even more OEM and not aftermarket at all. Love the car! looking forward to see more of it.
Amazing mod on a great vehicle. I wish I could own one, but I am no longer in the market for this superb vehicle. Well done. Thank you for sharing.
absolutely excellent job updating this iconic beauty (and I'm a full blown toyota guy)
Such an Effin masterpiece! All those little details are epic af like damnnnn! Somebody had to do It.
Absolutely incredible build.
The level of engineering that went into this is amazing.
I'm impressed that it looks like a factory Honda car.
It's to American mindset having a perfectly balanced car only for having power only also it's half done job if you want best of the best look no further than famous Honda chassi fabrication tuner opera performance in Fukuoka prefecture Japan
Literally no engineering went into this, r u okay?
@@olavofernandes7286 Balance is good!
@@Resch72113 Be nice now.
We appreciate you too. (:
What a work of art! Beautiful car
Work of art. Beautiful
Absolutely love this build ❤. This shop and Honda should collaborate and build a new Honda altogether.🎉
Awesome work...lovely vehicle
Great video! I love the S2000R 🤍
Mate, that is a thing of beauty, great job.
As a long life s2000 owner and enthusiast this is something we imagined making ourselves one day(conceptually) - the problem that the r&d and price and time involved suddenly went up so high you basically need to snap yourself out of that haha. So glad you guys did it - I mean I imagine it will be close or even over 180k $ so it’s ain’t gonna be cheap - but I’m deffo considering a preorder haha just kiddin ;D gj boys - and nice video - thanks
I remember working for a Honda dealership back in "99" when the s2000 came out. It was just a sweet car. I have always wanted one.
That is not just an update, it’s a work of art!
Damn that's sick asf, great job on the build
This is beautiful. Such incredible work and technology. I'd have done it N/A but thats just me
This is the level of quality and care I strive for
Proud original owner of a 2006 Berlina Black with 200k+ incredibly joyful miles . I would LOVE this transformation to be made to my baby with one exception. NA F22C with 280WHP
i was thinking of this car today while i watched a best motoring track review of the fl5 vs the js racing fl5, all i kept thinking was man,,, NOB and DK should get a chance to drive the s2000.. that would be a videoo i would love to see once your development is complete.. they would praise it so so much.. anyway love the uploads
I’ve read so much on this great to see it in the flesh!!!
Awesome build! Would like to see a video of it going up against the fk8 and Fl5. Maybe drag racing and track racing. Keep up the good work!
Nice concept but I couldn’t stop drooling over the white 981 in the background, absolutely stunning and that’s up my street.
Wow, they did a fantastic job... outstanding!!!😮❤
Excellent work 👏
As ab old type bar owner in the UK. So glad to see you're keeping these beauties going and giving it even more power, such a shame they stop making the S2000. Just thinking that the Mazda MX-5 /Miata probably over took the roadster sales. Hopefully Honda will bring it back one day. He'll probably be electrified in some way
I'm In Love with this S2k R
You guys did the legendary Championship white justice! :) Massive Kudos
Thing is so sick can’t wait for a sport mode. I would do jdm black house head lights ,dash screen differently and finish the alcantera material on the plastics behind the seats/center console.more 20th anniversary bits would be cool thr radio lid and rear wind deflection Ria Strake
This is an amazing build. I loved the reupholstered interior and the seats especially. Really want to do my own “OEM+” restromod S2k. I probably wouldn’t go as hardcore as this with the motor swap. But better suspension, better brakes, and a modernized interior would be amazing. Super tempted to do something like that with my AP2
Love it. You must have thought about a supercharger.. lower efficiency.. but still, modern turbo chargers are ok.
Super cool car, an OG S2000 would already be a dream
This s2000 reads everything Type-R daily driven but also can take to track, such an amazing build 👏
Hi Larry. So when and where is the Evasive show revealing the S2000R? And is it open to the public? Can't wait to see the part 2 video of the driving impressions of the S2000R with you and Dai when available. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks again.
This looks awesome!❤
*_This is so sick. Inspires me to make my 97 EK Hatch into a Type R._*
Very nice setup.
Very Beautiful S2000 R I never see before about S2000 R ❤❤❤
Such an amazing build 👌🏼
Somehow... Evasive has basically made two of my favorite all time builds.... Dai's Ae86, and this S2000R. It probably seems like I'm just saying some sh**. But seriously I don't ever say I have a "dream car" because there is so many beautiful and thoughtful cars/builds, but Evasive Motorsports style just hits for me.
restomod '90s cars are coming and I'm here for it. i love customization but i also love authenticity and correctness. this could quite possibly be the most perfect car ever built.
so feakin nice! i have always wanted a S2000.... still one of those cars i wanna get one day in my life.... but to get this done to it... would be freaking amazing....
Nice work
One of the best s2k i have seen
Singer, Gunther werks quality superb
Those spoon mirrors… 🤤. I really hope evasive sells the wing stands. Looks like it uses the same mounting points as the CR wing, which is perfect for me.
Very nice, well done 👍
This gives me that fizz amazing build
Just drove my stock ap1 s2k last night and it still feels brand new. Got 115k miles on her
I remember seeing them do the FK8 K20 swap into this car. Amazing seeing the completed product.
