I ❤ your videos!! I watch them again and again. I remember while pregnant w my 2nd child. I bowled 4 different leagues finishing one Sat evening, summer league with my best score of 289! P.S. also worked full time (graveyard shift) at hospital then moved on Sunday (Labor Day weekend). Daughter was born Monday morning on (Labor Day) w very short labor of 40 minutes... no anesthesia. Felt great!! I applaud your many renovations! Especially "kitchen", first video of yours I viewed. Blew me away! The bathroom that you redid w new window w outside siding, Wowza! Congrats to job well done! The children's tree house left me speechless. 🎉 🎉🎉
I worked at a full time job until my 9th month and renovated an entire home (mostly by myself) during my pregnancy as well. I gained 17 lbs with my pregnancy and the baby was 9 lbs of that. I was not quite 5 feet and weight 95 lbs prior to getting pregnant. The baby came out perfect and scored high on all tests. Although some pregnancy can be difficult, it doesn’t mean pregnancy is a handicap. You can do almost anything. Great to see you doing all of this while pregnant.
For sure. From a medical standpoint pregnancy should not limit many activiites. You should however be a little careful with exposure to chemicals. Primers and sanding dust can be toxic. A mask would be best.
@@DannebergAcres its clear you're not a doctor. it's a reason why the American system has a high infant mortality rate and a maternity death rate compared to third world countries.
Melissa, your family are so blessed to have such a talented and beautiful mum and wife. Hope your new addition also goes well-and I don't mean the bug screens!
I love this so much!! I want this but with a heated porch to use in the winter when it’s snowing (not during a blizzard, but sitting out with some snow under a heater in a screened porch sounds so nice.
Great work and it came out looking amazing. If I may, I couldnt help notice how you used to top 2 rungs of your ladder while painting. My hands got sweaty as I have seen one too many friends fall due to this (I think it made my anxiety worse knowing you were pregnant). Anyone reading, please use extra caution when using ladders. Taking literally 30 seconds to reposition the ladder for more stability is a small price to pay when it comes to ensuring your safety.
I also love a screen porch and hate bugs. Take it easy when pregnant as you are more prone to straining ligaments and muscles due to hormonal changes and your balance can be off due to the added weight load in front. Nice job. I’m so envious.
Love the video I would definitely recommend either removing the weddings ring while doing things like this or buy a silicone ring like Groove. If that table saw would have kicked it could have caught your ring and degloved your finger
You’re a boss; glad I came across your channel. I know we are all annoyed with masks and fun police, but you should wear a respirator when sanding and using spray paint/primer. Did I mention that you’re a boss! Well done!
Did you profile the porch before painting it? Putting a sand on it is key for adherence. Do a tight prime coat and sand lightly again and get some quality epoxy or paint and roll another coat and sand again and do a top coat of a urethane, tight coats you can use a urethane with 240 Aluminum oxide as a slip resistance or like a #10 glass bead. If you go the epoxy route you can broad cast a quartz blend into the body coat then do a 10mil grout coat over the quartz after it's swept and vacuumed. Then another 12 mill body coat, depending on the texture you want for slip resistance. Then a top coat of a high strength UV stable urethane topcoat without slip. So much you can do with epoxy
Hi Melisa, I hope I have not just butcher your name but I was going from memory and at my age (70), my memory isn’t the best. I think you are fantastic doing what you do while being pregnant, being a man I don’t have direct knowledge, but I do remember my wife digging her nails into my hand when she was delivering our children and although I would not presume that it was any way close to the pain my wife went though I still remember it. Do the blinds stop if someone’s foot is in the way like garage doors, as you did not mention it in the video? Thanks again for producing videos of such high standards, even now and I wish you and your husband all the best for the upcoming baby.
The installers could program both screens to channel 3 to eliminate having to switch channels. A call to somfy and you're all set if you want to program yourself.
Hello. I really like the work you have done. What was the model number and screen name that you used? Also what was the model number and name for the motorized unit?
Why are you pulling the wood through the table saw blade from the back instead of standing in the front and pushing the wood through? The dust port is on the back of the table saw. Is there a table saw trick I am unaware of working from the back? I know you are find but that worried me!
Love watching this video. However at the 2:06 mark when you bust out the oscillating tool, I cringed a little and think back to my wood shop class in middle school. Where my teacher used to tell us, "after you master the hand tools, I'll let you use the power tools" Here is the perfect example of over complicating something that is far easier with a basic wood chisel and hammer. I worry sometimes about humans in this age losing basic skills, when we all seem to do is, immediately go for the power tools, even when, in this case, hand tools would not have been as difficult and annoying as your oscillating tool made it.
Hi Melissa, fabulous job as usual. Please don’t continue to stretch to that extent as your pregnancy progresses, like when you were wiping off the blinds. If the umbilical cord is even loosely around the baby it will tighten as you stretch. Take care
Ours are similar but mounted on the outside and we used sunbrella fabric instead of screen. Heavy wind tore one of the 5 shade out of the tracks and I haven't figured out yet how to get the fabric back into the side tracks. There seem to be no fasteners to the side rails that I can see. Do you know how your side rails are attached? Thanks.
Totally depends on what you're getting installed. You can find a Somfy dealer near you by clicking on the link in the description. They're international and send their installers out for free estimates! 🙂
Hiya dear lady, I've just found your channel and I'm very impressed. You were pregnant? I just thought you just liked pasta a bit too much? The strip along the bottom is known here in the UK as 'Brush Strip' Stay safe, Steve...
So sorry about that!! I scheduled publishing and intending to add the links but ran out of time. My recommendation would be the Dewalt multi-tool - great brand and I found it on sale for a really great price at Home Depot right now: homedepot.sjv.io/zaz2ax
I have that 20v Dewalt one and it is the best, with variable speed and led light it is so much smoother and nicer to use than the fist corded one I bought a few years ago,
Oh I'm sorry I should've shown that! We had an outlet about four feet away and each screen plugged into it (two plugs). You can also hardwire these but it can be harder to service them if you do. You need an exterior rated outlet within twenty feet of the installation location (no extension cords). Hope this helps!

Seriously considering these for my home 😍 beautiful !! and what a great inspiration you are to be pregnant and still doing everything you do.
Wow! That's awesome! I need to do this to my porch!
good for u that pregnancy is not stopping doing what u need to do...great transformation on the porch
that is so cool....yipy now u can chill in the porch and kiss goodbye to the bugs...
When installing any lumber exterior. All six sides of the board should be painted or at least primed other than that looks great
Very impressive work and it have a nice look now.
Wow what a difference. Good job.
Great addition to your house!

Super awesome
I am wanting to screen in my porch, let us know how you like them after a couple of months in use. New subscriber here. Thanks for sharing.
I would love to have my porch screened in it gets so many bugs in the summertime
By the time the contractors get there, you and the wee bun in the oven will have it completed!
What was the cost of these screens ?
I may have missed it, but how are they powered? Are they hard wired in? Plugged in? Battery (I know, doubtful)
The installers could program both screens to channel 3 to eliminate having to switch channels. A call to somfy and you're all set if you want to program yourself.
Cool another idea I came up with electric windows in house yes
A better way for paint to adhere to surface is physical bonding. Sanding it to give the surface a rough profile for paint or primer to adhere.
You are awesome. I would be nervous with you on the ladder

Very good video! I didn't know wood putty could be used on a painted surface. Do you have any trouble with it becoming loose or falling out over time?
Thanks! I haven't in the past, but I've only used wood putty for three years so maybe take that with a grain of salt.

How often should I oil my wood countertop?
I don’t have enough service to watch the video.
Are these any good in winter time? I want to screen in my porch but I’m scared tbe snow will wreck them
What's the ball park cost for these motorized screens?
I live in Manitoba (your neighbour to the north) and screening in a porch like this is a must. I assume your mosquito count is similar to ours?
It's so bad lol! And we live by a lake so this not only keeps out the mosquitos but also the spiders! 🕷️

If the screen needs replaced due to pets or kids damaging them, is this a DIY project or will it require repairing by a manufacture tech?
