Zebrano is one of my favourite timber for making pens ;-) Zebrano will darken a little with age and will bring out the warmth of the wood. Great pen ;-) Lance.
The pen looks beautiful but can I share a tip? Zebra wood tends to burn easily with the barrel trimmer, leaving the dark ring on the ends. I avoid this by using my disk sander with fresh 60 grit and a very light touch. This also helps with woods that chip out easily, such as burls, where a barrel trimmer is too aggressive. Thank you for sharing the video. I really enjoy your craftsmanship.
The blade of the barrel trimmer must be kept sharp. Then it won't ride. I often replace the barrel trimmer blade with a new one to keep it in good condition. And there is no right answer to the task. I hope you keep your own good way.

Ah ~ I forgot to put subtitles. It's called "mylands". It is a finish mixed with shellac, wax and beeswax The product was purchased and used. It also acts as a coating and at the same time provides good durability.

Camellia oil is a vegan oil. The reason for applying oil is to delay and protect the oxidation of the surface of the wood. A very thin oil film protects the surface. After applying oil, wipe clean again to finish. The camellia oil I use is safe to eat. It is a very good natural oil that is harmless to the human body even when you hold the pen in your hand.

That question is meaningless. Because I don't cut down, cut, and cut wood myself... It doesn't matter which level of wood I started working on. I buy a well-dried thick board and cut it to the desired wood grain to make a pen.
