Is it good marketing to associate your mattress with the word “plank”? Some sleepers may not think so, but there is definitely a market for firmer mattresses out there. People with back problems, heavier sleepers, and folks who just like to sleep on supportive surfaces - rejoice! The Plank is here.

I don’t want to walk the plank; I want to sleep the plank. Is this bed the right move for people looking for more back or hip support? What’s the deal?
Brooklyn Bedding (the company behind the Plank) has an expansive inventory of mattresses, and has been in the bed-in-a-box game since 2008. This is a company that can afford to cater to a niche. And there is definitely a niche audience for people who want firm bedding.
The Plank is not quite at the “budget” price point, but it is not in competition with luxury mattresses, either. This means that Brooklyn Bedding probably wants the Plank to target people with back problems specifically. That being said, let’s dig into this bed’s construction to see if it does just that.

In your experience, is there a mattress that's firmer than the Plank? What's the firmest mattress you've ever reviewed?
I love hard mattresses. Most of them are too soft these days
Wow, this sounds like the absolute perfect mattress for me. I love the feel of memory foam but as a stomach sleeper who also runs hot, I've never been able to find a memory foam that's firm enough AND cooling. I love that this mattress is super firm, cooling, has great edge support, and is flippable for those rare occasions where I prefer to sleep a little bit more on my side. This mattress really checks all of my boxes!

I am suffering from back pain and less sleep. I could use any of good mattress that gives support and comfort.
Are there any bed that’s a firm 10? I feel like the only way to get a 10 is a wooden plank.
Well, this mattress is called the Plank, because it still the firmest bed we've ever tested.
I have the Plank Luxe and I love it! I have finally found a firm mattress that really is what it says it is. You will be happy if you do like a really firm mattress. I sleep on my side primarily. I never sleep on my stomach. My husband likes it too.

I love that Brooklyn Bedding makes mattresses which are truly firm, not just medium-firm. The dual-sided firmness of the Plank sounds AMAZING, & I definitely have friends who would be interested.

Plank is a great name for a firm mattress! However $1000-$1250 is a little steep for basically just a big chunk of poly foam. At that price I think they could've afforded to use a firm or extra firm dunlop latex for one side rather than well "basically" more poly foam. Great review!

Another great review!!! I am very curious about this as I am mostly stomach/side sleeper. I know you didn't suggest this for side, but you said stomach sleepers would appreciate this and that sounds ideal. Sleeping cool is also a great benefit.
I'm a disabled Army veteran and my back has been through hell during my service so I'm already behind the power curve when it comes to morning back pain. As I'm getting older the more important it is that i find a mattress that keeps my spine and hips aligned so I don't wake up in the morning in wicked amounts of pain that often lasts all day long. I've been through 3 mattresses in 3 years and I still wake up sore. This Plank looks like it might be the answer to my dreams (pun intended). Thanks for this review!

I never thought in all my years I would be studying for mattresses soooo many out there now yeesh. Im a straight up stomach sleeper and this sounds really good. My current bed is starting to sag, and my daughter when visiting for Christmas confirmed it. Wish there was a local place that sold these so I could least try it out before buying and then possibly not liking it and having to send it back. sighing
Which side is the extra firm? Which way is the plank name facing on extra firm?
Who wants a really firm mattress why not just sleep on wooden plants like the soldiers did during the #RevolutionaryWar? Then it's extra firm on the other side great so I can sleep on a rock & save the money for chiropractors 🤷♂️🤦♂️
I wanted to order this but im sick of all the fake hype on online mattress companies. look at all these reviews, all exactly 4 months ago, give me a break.....
I don't think a firm mattress is for me...I like to feel like I'm sleeping on a cloud...I felt mattresses like that at the store and are expensive....I stick to lots of comforters and pillows stacked up...that's the only option, when you have 9 metal pins in your shoulder
Side sleeper here. I think this bed would be too firm. Plus, I hate when my sheets move on the bed. STILL, this bed would be a vast improvement over what I sleep on now!

Sounds like it would be a good mattress for me as a stomach sleeper, being firm and cool.
Like that it has good motion transfer control and good edge support, but it's not one for a side-sleeper like me. I have found that a 2-3 inch mattress topper can transform a firm bed if you already have one, but with all the options out there, would just buy one that suits.

Would love to win a spine align mattress because I have severe pain in my back that travels down my legs, C5 is messed up. I had xrays a year ago and was told I have bad arthritis in my neck plus I get migraines

Dont buy this thing. its not as firm as they say it is. Its going to sink in. I recommend a beauty rest pressure smart 2.0. try it at the store. its as firm and solid as the floor. You need a mattress with no pillow top if you want it like a stone.
Does either one works with adjustable bed frame?

i find it weird that they wrote on the inside of the mattress with blue marker/paint when you cut it open. like im assuming the word was "plank" but thats quite weird that they did it at all for all we know it could be black magic curses writen on the inside and we would never know lol
