Regarding comments about dips after some period of time….I am 70 and have had many mattresses. None last 10 years unless you are just the type that can sleep on an Army cot and wake up refreshed. They all fail after 5-7 years. It’s the nature of the beast. Try laying a 170 pound bag on any mattress for near 18,000 hours (6 years), and even concrete will start to deflect. There isn’t anything that is “soft and comfortable” that can withstand that without showing sag. And yes, ALL the manufacturers try to find a way to deny a claim. So just decide what you are willing to pay to have comfort AND support for maybe 5 years at best.
Lol my matress is about 25 years old 😅 have had many replacement foam toppers over the years but I am finally ready for a new matress, and I'm going with purple. It's no army cot but it sure as he'll isn't a purple
Good point. They also almost always come with an arbitration clause regarding their “warranty”. If you buy from Costco they’ll let you exchange it, even after 6 years, no questions answered
I had a very similar experience with my purple. I got the purple 2 and hated it for about 3 weeks. I was actually even sore from sleeping on it after being on a memory foam for so long. After about a month, I adjusted to it and have never looked back. I have a torn disc in my back right now and the only thing that helps is the purple mattress! It also regulates temperature phenomenally. Best bed ever!
Back pain is a living hell, so picking the correct mattress is crucial. I have lumber arthritis & had been sleeping on a Savvy Rest Organic Latex mattress previously which made my pain worse. Additionally, I could not sleep through the night, I constantly tossed & turned, I just could not get comfortable or any relief. About 2 years ago I bought the original Purple mattress & it saved my life. Now I consistently sleep through the night (on my back or side) & my overall back pain has greatly reduced, I even have pain free days which I didn't think was possible. I can't believe what an incredible difference this bed has made, my wife & I are extremely grateful. I'm a small dude (5' 10" & 155 lbs) so the original Purple made sense for me & my wife (5' 7" 120 lbs). I love my bed. I was thinking of getting a second bed, the Purple 3 with the extra grid height & coils but I'm not sure that is necessary for our body types since those are usually for larger people.
I wish that my Purple 3 would have held up. After three years it started sagging and caused my back to hurt. No warranty from Purple nor Mattress Firm. I am on my own now and our $3,400. I hope that you purchased the product directly from Purple otherwise you will not have as good of a warranty coverage.
I'm @120 days deep & Can confidently say Purple is infinitely the best mattress I’ve ever slept on. It's unparalleled in every category. / 53yrs old, i’ve owned all kinds of high-end mattresses.
The Purple 3 worked fine for me up until year three when the sagging caused lower back pains. Since Purple will not warranty the mattress I am going to switch over to Saatva. They seem to be more transparent with their warranty coverage. The customer service there seems to be leaps and bounds above Purple. It is a shame because I initially liked their product a lot.
I have now owned 7 purple mattresses and don't think I could ever go back. I am 270 lbs and I live with a broken back (my tailbone is not connected to my spine). I have never owned any other beds that I can sleep on without pain. I still prefer the OG purple (very first and cheapest one with no side support) and I will they still made them. I have personally owned the OG, Purple 2, Purple 3 Hybrid, and the others I bought for my kids. All of them I had no back pain on and I am moving again in two weeks. I don't move these as they are very heavy so I will be buying 3 new ones in 2 weeks. Moving a mattress 2,000 miles is very expensive so buying new is almost the same price. My only issue I have ever had is the protector didn't protect my bed when my small dog got sick on it and I have a stain on my purple 3 from it. That and the sheets only hold up about 2 years with regular wash cycles.
Same I had the original purple which was great. So I went all out and got the premier 4. Instant regret. I’m 300+ pounds and because the gel grid is so thick, I collapse deep into the bed and it causes great pain (I have bad sciatica) I suppose the goal here is lose weight and then maybe I’ll enjoy it. Bottom line - 4 is no good for very big people.
I was concerned about how I’d move this mattress if I purchased one since my sleep number bed can be disassembled for easier moving and found that you can re vacuum seal it with a $20 mattress vacuum bag, roll it up and secure with Velcro straps with handles or tape for ease of transport. So it won’t take up any more space than how it was shipped to you and it can stand upright. I don’t know if it would still be cheaper to repurchase but thought I’d put that out there fyi. Hopefully you’re able to sell your original ones otherwise it seems very expensive to replace although I’ve never made a big move or hired movers before so I don’t have an idea of the costs involved. Also, I’m sure this only works for all foam mattresses rather than the Hybrid models with innersprings, so maybe that might be a deciding factor in which type to choose.
Found your video and saved it for later viewing. I'm going on 3 years with my Purple mattress and still LOVE IT! Now, back in 2020, I purchased the Purple 2 Hybrid (same as yours) and since I ordered online directly from Purple, I had the full 100 nights to try it out. After about 40 nights, I hated it -- the 2" gel was too thin, and my 230 lb body was pressing into the coils. So, I called Purple and they suggested I get the upgraded Purple 3 or 4. Of course, I didn't want to spend over $3,000 for the 4" topper, and after a few questions, they suggested that the 3" grid was enough to absorb my heavier body weight over the 2" -- even though I'm mostly a back sleeper. So I upgraded to Purple Hybrid 3 and they delivered the replacement mattress, and removed the old mattress. So far, I'm loving the extra inch of polymer grid. HOWEVER..... there was a manufacturer "issue" during the later 2020 period and my mattress was sagging like my old 10-year TempurPedic that I slept on prior. Purple Company again came through (had to send them pictures; I had 4 gallon water jugs and a laser tape measure showing the sag) and replaced my Purple 3 with another under warranty. Since then, I've added a Purple bed frame, multiple Purple bed sheets, and a Purple Harmony pillow (the BEST!). I follow Purple on Facebook, and now they have a whole new line of mattresses, which looks like the same mattresses, with new names and higher prices! Also, since buying my mattress online in early 2020, there's Purple retail stores and Mattress Firm now sells them. Keep in mind, buying from Mattress Firm is why you get a 21-day trial and not the full 100-night trial. My suggestion is to test them in the store, buy online to get the full trial period. Or, find a local Purple Store (they're popping up everywhere as Purple adds more distribution centers). P.S. Purple is headquartered in Utah, and the founders (since retired) were real rocket scientists who invented the grid that we all see in the Dr. Scholl foot pads.
I have the mattress protector, but no longer use it. Found the texture weird when putting the Purple sheets over it. It was originally designed to prevent spills from soaking into the grid and damaging them. Remember those old "sasquash" commercials? Very funny.
My wife and I bought a purple hybrid restore cool touch 3 months ago and we loved it from first night. Assuming everything goes well over the next 10 years, I will never get another brand.
Great review. I went in the store to try this mattress and it felt amazing on my shoulders. I’m a side and back sleeper and I need something to accommodate both back issues and shoulder pressure. It felt good. I was on the bed about ten minutes and was almost sold until I turned to the middle and there was a big dip. I immediately felt it in my back. Though I know this bed has been sitting in the showroom who knows how long and tested by many, I was skeptical. So I decided not to purchase. I have tried Saatva, a beautiful mattress but was too hard and stiff, Wink, another beauty but my shoulders cries out “No!” I ended up with a Sleep Number bed because I can change the firmness, however, I prefer firm for my back and softer for my shoulders as a result I wake up several times at night because when I move around I have to change the setting. It’s been about a year and a half. I’m on the search again. I can’t take it. I need something thats comfortable enough for my shoulders and back. I’m exhausted.😢😢😢
Which model of purple did you buy? Have you heard of the newer Purple Restore line? They're hybrid (coil base, foam transition layer, and purple grid. The RestorePlus model (middle tier) has added support in the middle where the hips need it most. From reviews I've seen, this line is better than the previous purple hybrids.
I am seriously considering the Purple mattress. In particular, I think the Hybrid 3 sounds like a good option. I actually recently bought the Purple pillow and loved it. There was actually an adjustment period with the pillow too. Like the first 3 nights on that pillow, I hated it because I woke up with severe neck pain and migraines. I had actually bought the pillow to help me get rid of that issue, but it seemed to increase the issue. Now, it is rare for me to get neck pain. It's a crazy supportive technology that had an adjustment period even for the pillow because I had gone my whole life on so many unsupportive pillows. I love the grid technology. I love to squish and play with the pillow even before I go to sleep because it is just so fun and different and it works amazingly. If I love the pillow, I think I will probably love the mattress; however, my biggest concern is how long last the mattress is. I know it has a 10 year warranty, but I have seen several reviews of using the mattress one year and it's already dipping. I am curious to try it though. Many people buy it because of existing body pains, but I don't experience any body pains other than my neck which I fixed with the pillow. I kind of want to invest in it as a preventative measure from having body pains.
The original mattress did have some dipping issues, ive had mine for almost 5 years now and there are indents in it. The hybrid 3 uses our coil core which to my knowledge hasnt had that issue. The warranty is awesome though. Not sure which pillow you purchased but i highly recommend the harmony pillow. It has a honeycomb grid on a latex type core and comes in different sizes.
I have the Purple 3 and it started sagging by year two. On year three I started having lower back pains. Make sure you buy directly from Purple if you want a warranty. I made the mistake of buying form one of their partners Mattress Firm and they are denying my warranty. The bed was not supposed to sag but it has three large sags and the sides both collapsed. I showed pictures to the salesperson at Mattress Firm and they even said it looked bad. Their warranty department denied the claim based on a small smudge from sweat. The bed retained heat due to the sagging and caused me to sweat. They sold me the Purple mattress protector but now they are saying it is not water proof only water resistant. So now I am stuck with a $3,400 bed that hurts my back. Purple said if I had purchased the bed directly from them they would replace it. So why buy from their partner if you do not receive the full warranty? This seems like a scam.
So a little over a year ago I decide the buy a home and one of things I wanted to splurge on was a new bed and mattress. I had my mind set on getting one of the Beautyrest Black mattresses. I went to different mattress stores to try them out and confirmed that the Beautyrest was the way to go. Then I went to a local Macy's and notice that not only did they have the Beautyrest that I wanted but they also had the entire line of Purple mattresses. So I tried them and I thought the grid felt weird. But the one thing I was noticing was the happiness I felt when I tried one of them and not getting the same feeling with the Beautyrest. So I ended ordering the Purple 4 and like you for about the first week and half I hated the mattress for the same reasons you mentioned and I thought I mad a huge a mistake buying it. But after about 2 weeks my body adjusted to the bed and it's by the far the best bed I have ever owned. Also there's one you really need to mention. The mattress is heavy and when trying to move it, it feels like moving dead floppy weight.
I decided to splurge and buy the Purple 3. At first I really liked it until the bed started sagging and my lower back was sore. I was hoping that Purple would replace the bed under warranty. I purchased it from their partner Mattress Firm and they denied my warranty claim. Now I am stuck with an unusable bed.
i've had the purple pillow for the past year (tryin it out b4 buying the mattress) hated it at first , after 3 nights, i loved it and can't sleep without it..thanks for this video,, def going to check out the mattress while it's on sale. i had low back surgery yrs ago, have neck and shoulder probs, as well as hips issues,, can't wait..cheers!
the adjustment period totally threw me off, I can't believe we love it so much after not liking it at first! We got ours during the holiday sale last year and it was so worth it 🥰
I love how cold this mattress is I’m in California and it’s 114 degrees for a week straight in Sacramento and I hated over heating in my mattress, honestly please make a mattress made of solid ice if you can! Seriously the cold 🥶 er the better
After my Purple started sagging it got unbearably hot. As I started sinking into the mattress the sheets trapped the heat in. Mattress Firm would not warranty the mattress because there was a light sweat stain caused from me sinking into the mattress. I did not notice that I was sinking in until my lower back started hurting. When I called Mattress Firm to come and inspect my 4 year old mattress they denied the warranty based on the very light spot. Honestly I could have washed the mattress cover and they would never have noticed it.
@Hello I seriously think the hottest hot I've ever experienced is driving from SF through the Central valley up to Tahoe, smack dab in the middle of summer with no air conditioning. Every inhale seemed to dry out your lungs. I could see where the Purple mattress would help you stay way way way cooler.
I have chronic neck and shoulder pain from neck surgery 6 years ago. After watching this I think I’ll go purple. I wake up everyday feeling like a Mac truck has hit me using my old memory foam mattress.
We just purchased a Purple + and so far it’s way more comfortable. Our old mattresses was like your old one, huge sagging on each side. We also purchased and adjustable bed frame with vibrasonic vibration. Try bed in showroom we almost fell asleep on it. Next purchase is Purple pillows.
I LOVE my Purple mattress. The downside is that it’s ruined all vacations for me, because where I used to tolerate hotel/guest beds, I HATE them all now. Some tips to love your Purple more: Use stretchy sheets. I’m a big fan of Purple’s bamboo sheets (not sure if they still sell them?), but I imagine any stretchy sheets will do. I also invested in a Purple pillow. Mine is the original grid pillow, with no extra inserts or fluff. It gave me horrible neck pain at first, and I considered returning it. Then I realized that the pain was caused from laying on my back on the pillow. Laying on my side, the pillow was perfect. So I cut the pillow in half and now sleep with a head sized space between the two halves. It’s the perfect solution, and the half sized pillow is great for travel. :)
I liked my Purple 3 until it started sagging. Maybe if Purple would warranty the mattress it would make me a believer in their product again. I had two of my friends buy the Purple but now I cannot recommend it. The sides just started to collapse and the bed is curved now. I placed five one gallon water bottles on the bed and there is a 1.5” gap. I only weigh 185 lbs but I sink about 3” or more into the mattress when I lay on top of it now.
@@mocheen4837 wooow so good to know thank you. i have the harmony expensiveexplosive pillow lol. its brilliant. along with three pillow cubes so now its time for a great bed. I dont want something that needs replacing. im gonna try the new pillow cube mattress
I would recommend putting a light quilt between the Purple Mattress and the mattress protector or bottom sheet to reduce the feel of the grid under you.
Just watched your 6-month check-in, and now this. I tried a Purple pre-pandemic - like immediately before - and found it comfortable, but I'd also seen some negatives from owners. I have arthritis in my lower back and bursitis in my hips, so I knew I was going to have to get something better, but I wasn't sure what that would look like. Again, thank you for your review. You've helped me make up my mind. I'll be looking for sales now.
I have to wait until January for them to be available here in Canada (we have one version here, Premium 4 Twin XL), I've never been excited for a mattress purchase before, I'm so old haha
Amazing review! Thank you so much! I have low back pain and just found out I’m curved really bad in the low back . I’m over the tight back . Had to sleep on the couch last night. But I love my Tempurpedic Rhapsody. But it’s gotten too soft n comfortable. But after 8 years , maybe too comfortable cuz it makes my low back tight and I throw out my back ever so often. It’s thrown out now . Thank you so much 😊
Coming to this video after night one. 😭I have the exact same feelings you had after the first night. Lol. Ready to send this thing back. My husband slept great. Gonna give the 21 days a go but man I miss my old broken in mattress. Lol.
I’m glad you found me! I was the exact same, there was absolutely no way I was keeping this mattress! Let me know what you think after the 21 day trial!
@@stiletto696 it’s been right at 2 months. I don’t hate it anymore. I have definitely gotten use to it. I don’t know if I would say it’s the most comfortable bed ever though. It’s not what I would call a cozy bed. I do feel like it has broken in some and that helped a ton. My husband is in LOVE!
@@michaelshelnutt3534 I really love it! It took about 2-3 months but It definitely grew on me. I have zero aches in the morning. I have 3 other family members that purchased about the same time and all Love them.
I bought 2 purple mattresses and 2 purple cushion for my car… it was the best investment and decision I ever done. Purple is antiallergic and fire retardant. I love it and I recommend it.
You are lucky. My Purple 3 sagged after less than three years. Now I wish that I had never purchased it. They will not warranty the mattress and I am stuck with the mattress, power base, pillows, sheets and mattress protector. What a waste of my money.
Anyone have any issues with customer service or the return process? Do they follow through with the return if you don’t like it in the trial period or do they make it very difficult to get your money back?
I had issues with Purple and their warranty process. My Purple 3 started sagging. Apparently the warranty is not the same if not purchased directly from Purple. I bought my set from their partner Mattress Firm. Purple said the warranty has to go through Mattress Firm who has a different set of criteria for the warranty. Mattress. firm keeps denying my warranty. They ask for photos of the sag but it only shows up when I pace water bottles on the mattress to show the indentations. The mattress returns to its original shape when no weight is applied and the sag is not noticeable. Mattress Firm uses the criteria for traditional mattresses for their warranty coverage. They keep denying my claims. Purple said they would have replaced the mattress only if it was purchased directly from them. Purple says I need to deal with Mattress Firm if I want the mattress covered by warranty. This makes absolutely no sense. You receive less warranty coverage when purchased from any store other than Purple. Why do they even sell it through vendors?
Hey Mac! I was wondering if you have an update? We recently bought a Saatva a few months back and my back has been KILLING me. 😭 We’re still within the trial period and are thinking about switching. We just want to invest in a mattress that will actually last us!
Just wondering if you (or anyone else reading this) had ever tried a high quality memory foam mattress for pressure relief and if so, what were your impressions (no pun intended) vs the Purple mattress?
Memory foam itself is way too soft to work as a matress on it's own. They have layers of other foam that is much more supportive. I've read accounts of peoples first night on an all memory foam mattress as a miserable night as you just sink until you are laying on the frame and feel every irregular surface.
I had a name brand memory foam mattress that gave me a condition I had to go to physical therapy to get rid of...after only three nights. I was in so much pain. It wasn’t the Tempurpedic and Iam tempted to buy one, because I hear they are terrific, but my son got a Purple Mattress and he loves it. I think I am going to get one as well.
We got the most expensive tempur pedic mattress, IT’S GREAT!!! We are poor right now that’s why I bought the purple mattress for my baby, I figured since he’s a baby he will have a couple of mattress in his life so the purple is good enough for a starter.
I sleep very hot and don’t like the dense feeling of the tempur’s. After trying about 20 different beds the purple restore firm and a beauty rest black were at the top, I went with the purple and it should be here this week. A friend with the same one I passed out on their bed and slept perfectly
I watched your first review and now watching this makes me want to get one. Lol BUT I have worries because you know those small negative reviews about more pain and so on….yeah those are usually me 😭 so I worry about investing in a good mattress. My husband wants to get the purple mattress and he has co workers who enjoy it too…but I have those small doubts 😖 I’ve read on-site some people did have dips happen after a few months or a year but purple says they have a 10 year warranty so you can contact them and let them know to get a new one.
I totally hear you! It took us forever to make the decision to purchase lol but the 100 days they give you to return for 100% money back totally reassured us!
I have a bad back. I have an expensive gel top mattress now but I wake up w my hips hurting sometimes & it's too firm. I went mattress shopping & really liked the feel of the Purple 3 & 4. I can't decide. The 3 kind of feels better support wise & the 4 kinda felt like getting on a water bed. Can you do a review on those two
I made it through 4 years with mine but I should have replaced it a while ago. I agree with you in that first year - it felt great at first but now it’s so soft and saggy. The conforming support is gone. Replacing with a Tempurpedic pro adapt firm and a soft topper. What I learned is to buy the mattress I want in 5 years, not the one that’s perfect at first. The topper will make the firm mattress comfortable from the beginning and the firm build will keep it comfortable for many years
I'm not sure if you still have it and you're experiencing sagging in your mattress or if you've gotten a new one but with the warranty you can get them to send you a brand new one when you send them pictures doing the jug test!
I am going through the process now. My Purple 3 started sagging after three years. Now I am experiencing lower back pain from the sagging. The water bottle test shows a 1.5” sag. The bottles tip over when standing them up. Mattress Firm is going to stop carrying the Purple beds due to the high number of complaints received.
I just got my purple mattress. I am very excited and waiting for it to bloom. Also bad bad bad, hip tossed and turned all night. I have bruises from foils on my ribs.
Bought the purple premier 4 king with the zero gravity split base. A year later the outer foam on the side where I usually get out of bed has become detached from the gel grid and you can feel how deformed it is. I always sleep on the left side and if you lay in the middle you can feel your body sinking in to the left half. So it does become deformed over time. If you’re extremely overweight I’ll tell you right now - 4 is way too soft and it’ll cause pain.
I have seen long term reviews where the grid wears out and falls apart under the body weight. I will be curious to see if you follow up in another year or more. I am sure this mattress is good for the short run, but the long haul? I have my doubts it will be as good after 5-10 years or more.
We tried them out today and loved it. I’m pregnant and my back is killing me on our terrible mattress. I’m only worried about the sagging reviews some have
If your mattress sags sooner than usual, Purple will send you a brand new mattress after a brief emailing, they just ask for photos of the dips and when you bought the bed and really no more questions after that. They send one out right away.
6 years into my purple mattress and we are getting ready to check out warranty status because it is sagging terribly and we are both sleeping horribly now. I think they have about a 5 year lifespan. Keep that in consideration. We loved it until about 6 months ago.
Could you tell me if your linen sheets are stretchy or are they more like standard cotton sheets? I was under the impression that you had to use their brand of sheets or similar stretchy sheets (like jersey knit sheets) for the grid to work so I’m interested in knowing if that’s true. I have a terrific and expensive waterproof mattress protector (not a topper) and really nice sheets that I’d rather not replace. I’ve also heard the warranty is voided if sweat goes through the sheets but the purple mattress protector isn’t waterproof. My husband sweats in his sleep, so that would be an issue if we can’t protect the mattress.
And thank you for the honest review…it’s very helpful. 🙏 I’ve already invested over $3K for a sleep number thinking it was the best for my back but after re-injuring myself I’m no longer able to sleep lying down without severe pain. I really appreciate that your review is not sponsored and that you provided first impressions as well as follow up after a lengthy trial period. Had I not seen your review I probably would have bought one and packed it up for return very quickly if my pain didn’t decrease the first few days (and the grid would’ve annoyed as well), but now I’ll have realistic timeframe to decide if it’s working for me.
You WILL get "dips" and they will come after two or three years, even when you swing it around to even the wear. My purple developed a groove under me a 190# guy; one year trial is not enough! Got a latex mattress last week and hoping for grove-less sleeping.
You need a Hybrid mattress, springs + foam, but as far as being "cool" that's the holy grail of "foam" mattresses. Almost every foam mattress bed is HOT.
Thanks for your honest review! I'm a stomach sleeper, do you think this would be comfortable for a stomach sleeper? Don't know if either you or your husband is a stomach sleeper.
Im one week in with the Premier Hybrid 3 in King with adjustable base, and I can't tolerate it. My wife is indifferent but this thing is kicking my a$$. First night we slept flat and I lasted 3 hours before moving out to the couch. Came back before dawn, fell asleep and woke up with a really sore back. Since then we've tried the "zero g" setting and that is ok for falling asleep...but I wake up with a sore back and have to quit. It seems like my butt is unnaturally arching out into the mattress while my spine stays level. Needless to say, I wake up and want to spend 5 grand to get back my 15 year old firm beat in innerspring that I had no issue with. Dont know what got you till its gone. Also I am 5'8" 160lbs in good physical shape with no hx of backpain. So every night for the past week I give it the college try and wake up half way thru in pain... like my spine has been stretched in the lumbar area. Luckily I have a piece of 3 inch eggcrate foam on the floor that I normally use for tenting it up that I transition to in the middle of the night. So I guess what I'm learning is just because something is really expensive, doesn't automatically make it awesome. If I dont miraculousy come to love it soon, I think I'm going to try the beautyrest black with the T3 pocket coils. That was my first choice in the store before deciding to be adventurous and opting for the purple. The other thing I'm not digging is the fact that you are required to buy and use a protective mattress pad ($250 bedgear pad) in order for the warranty to be honored. When trying out the purple instore, there was no pad on the mattress, it felt firm, and i liked the way the squares felt. Remember, i like eggcrate. With the pad on, I cant feel the squares, infact, it feels like a completely different mattress, like the squares are not doing their job...AND it makes my back sweat(suppose to cool you down and be breathable, does the opposite)...oh and it bunches up in your butt when raising the head of the bed, super annoying. This whole experience just makes me want to go back to a simpler time, a time when I had a firm, beat in innerspring mattress with no bells and whistles.
@@mocheen4837 on day 96, I went back to Ashley Furniture and cashed in my one freebee and exchanged it for the hardest, most solid Beautyrest Black they make...and I love it. No more early morning back pain.
I have had my purple for over three years. King size and it's still perfect. I looked through so many reviews and websites, sorting through all the bs sponsored reviews and happy we kept it.
I literally hate my 3. They are bringing a nectar today. I do love my purple pillow. We have been on it a week and we both hate it. I tried it in the store and swear I have a different mattress. Mine is a brick and we were told if you don’t weigh over 130 pounds for the 3 good luck. I was kind of mad they didn’t tell us that.
I got the purple 4 but after adding the purple mattress protector airflow is significantly reduced which i dont like cayse now it get hotter quicker but than again it is a very expensive mattress at 3k so protection is a must
This is definitely one of the better and more enjoyable Purple Mattress reviews here on YT lol Like your bf Jack, I too have mid/lower back pain from a skateboarding injury & our old mattress made it very painful. I tried out the Original Purple & the Purple 2 at the store and really liked the 2 although it was a bit firm. Luckily I found a $200 second hand Sealy Posturepedic that is a memory foam & coil hybird which is very comfortable but too big for our room. Does your Purple Plus/2 have coils?! Thanks again, love your reviews!
Thanks so much for watching! The Purple and Purple Plus do not have coils, but the hybrid collection does! Those are a hybrid between their GelFlex Grid technology and coils 🥰
@@macdingle Awesome, thanks for the info! I definitely want coils in a mattress. Still trying to decide between Purple or Helix lol Have a good one, thanks again!
No coils in the Purple Plus but they do offer coils in their Purple Hybrid series which sport a 2" layer of their famous Purple GelFlex Grid system laid over the top of their Responsive Coil Core system for ease of movement .
@@eltonnoway7864 Thanks. I actually bought a second hand but clean Sealy hybrid mattress which is very, very comfortable!! It has individual coils and memory foam. Love it. Super heavy. Thanks again
@@demisemedia Good on you! Earlier this week ON 7/27... Consumer Reports released it mattress buying guide for 2022 and multiple models in the Sealy Hybrid lineup scored higher than many of the more popular mail order hybrid coil mattresses including Purple, GhostBed, and Tempur-Pedic!
You’re supposed to rotate your mattress every quarter. If everyone did this, it would help with the sagging. Any bed will sag if you never rotate it and continuously sleep in the same spot.
I was thinking of you the other day after watching Kinwoven UA-cam channel as she is doing her Christmas decor. She is way over the top, but thought you would enjoy it!
Thank you! There aren’t a lot of long term reviews on the Plus model. We just got the Plus in split king delivered and are waiting for our platform foundation to arrive so we can try these out. I’m going in blind and coming from Tempurpedic. Thank you for your review!!!
@@macdingle thanks for the reply! We LOVE it! I really didn’t think anything could beat Tempurpedic, but I’m Purple for life (as long as it holds up). Happy New Year!! 🎆
I, like you, bought a 2" mattress. 2 or 3 nights in, I finally figured out why I was waking up in the middle of the night, usually more than once, freezing! Chilled to the bone! Called my saleman and wanted to immediately return it but he said I wasn't allowed to until the trial period was over. So, what to do? I ended up putting my quilt between me and the mattress with a blanket over me, then I slept thru the night. But unlike you, when the time came to keep it or return it, it made no sense to me to keep such an expensive mattress that I had to sleep on a quilt between me and it, so bye-bye Purple. My 2nd mistake, was that I didn't review the furniture stores' return policy before buying it. As it turns out, the store would not accept my return unless I exchanged the Purple Mattress for something that cost just as much or more and pay a 2nd delivery fee for the new mattress. Live and learn, huh?
Quick question, do you use a mattress protector with your mattress? I have one it just seems to make the bed feel a little bit different which I’m not sure if I enjoy… haha secondly, have you tried or know anyone that uses the purple harmony pillow? I just received one the other day and for some reason my head goes all the way through the pillow to the mattress, so I was just seeing if you or anyone else had that issue or if I received a defective pillow.
We don't use a mattress protector but I wish we did! Only because our sheets are this burnt orange color that ended up rubbing off onto the mattress haha but it's kinda too late now 😂 and we haven't used their pillows (yet) but that definitely seems strange!
I have the harmony medium. My head/neck is well supported. You should take it to a showroom and show them what is happening. It should have a pillow insert with a grid all the way around the insert.
I used a protector in mine got 2weeks ago and I agree it makes it feel different and I removed it the next morning , just gonna have to be careful I guess 😆
of course! The green top is from Aerie a couple years ago so I don't think they have it anymore but they always have such cute stuff! And then the white cardigan on top is from Target: bit.ly/3m5k1pG
I got the Purple Hybrid a few nights ago and I'm a little worried it's too firm for me. I'm finding myself tossing and turning and missing my old memory foam.. do you think my body just needs to adjust? Not sleeping is really stressful though :( I'm a side and back sleeper but I just couldn't justify paying another $500 for an extra inch to upgrade to the Premier 3 or beyond
Did you end up adjusting to it? I just received my hybrid and have the same problem right now. I hope it gets better otherwise im considering returning it.
From all I’ve read, side sleepers really need the 3 or 4 inch mattress. I’m a combination sleeper so I will most likely get the 3 inch. Just curious if you returned it and upgraded to the 3 or 4 or did the 2 inch end up working out.
Water mattresses always recover without sags. 😃
lol I’ve had my sleep number bed for 6 years and it still feels brand new.
Good point. They also almost always come with an arbitration clause regarding their “warranty”. If you buy from Costco they’ll let you exchange it, even after 6 years, no questions answered
I love it. I’m no longer in pain and I actually LOVE feeling the grid lol
I have had the Purple Premier 4 for 5 years. Fantastic mattress. Love it. No sagging.
Best bed ever!
would u get a tempur pedic
This!! We’re still obsessed! My hip pains have practically disappeared
I’m 300+ pounds and because the gel grid is so thick, I collapse deep into the bed and it causes great pain (I have bad sciatica)
I suppose the goal here is lose weight and then maybe I’ll enjoy it.
So I decided
not to purchase.
I run so warm on our purple mattress! I can’t believe it felt cooling to you. And we DEFINITELY have dips. We regret how much we spent, for sure.
What is your weight?
I have the Purple 4 and love it. Yes I feel the waffle grid, but it doesn’t feel bad at all. It’s what makes the bed stay cool. I am a fanboy now.
Did you get one? If so, how do u like it?
@@Mar2Legit best mattress ive ever slept on.
You sound like you work for purple mattress company.
We bought a Purple mattress a couple of months ago after watching your review and are loving it!
No way!! That makes me so happy! Thank you for sharing ❤️❤️
I have the purple pillow and have absolutely loved it. I'm just waiting to buy a home and then buy a purple mattress. 😍
@Emily D. I bought the original pillow!
I'm so happy to hear you had the same experience! 💕
We got ours during the holiday sale last year and it was so worth it 🥰
Yes I love mine
Bought it last night due to Labor Day sale can’t wait to try it
The Purple pillow weighs a lot and is hard to adjust. It takes some getting used to.
i appreciate the real review! all the other ppl don't actually leave reviews
I'm so glad this was helpful!
Thank you for the useful advice. Very glad to hear from a real buyer.
✌️&❤️
We just bought 1 month now our purple hybrid 3. Every night, we talk about how great it is. Best sleep ever, and I now sleep in more often. Lol
I could see where the Purple mattress would help you stay way way way cooler.
the solid ice mattress lol sign me up. look up the bedjet. its amazing looking
After a while the Purple DOES dip. Sad but true. Not worth it. I so wanted to Love this bed!
I have chronic neck and shoulder pain from neck surgery 6 years ago. After watching this I think I’ll go purple. I wake up everyday feeling like a Mac truck has hit me using my old memory foam mattress.
How'd it go?
It has helped but not as a much I was hoping for with the neck and shouoder pain @@Antassiumhaving the right pillow is another compenent for me!
Outstanding review, informative, good pros and cons, and definitely very helpful for how it helps long term. THANK YOU!
I’m so glad it was helpful Ryan!
How’s the mattress so far? I’m trying to find the best
@@mocheen4837 Same problem with mine. I called Purple and since I purchased from them directly, they sent a replacement Purple 3 mattress to my house.
My Purple 3 sagged by year three and I have lower back pain. They will not warranty the mattress or stand behind their product.
I just ordered mine tonight
The Purple Plus Full size. They do offer military discounts because I got one
That's so awesome! Enjoy! ❤️
How's the purple+ working for you?
Thanks for the advice. I watched your video and purchased one too. It was one of the best purchases I've made in a long time.
Outstanding Review!!! Thanks for the upload, I just went to a mattress store today and I'm pretty much sold!
I have to wait until January for them to be available here in Canada (we have one version here, Premium 4 Twin XL), I've never been excited for a mattress purchase before, I'm so old haha
I’m day 2 on the mattress. Day 1 was meh. Hoping for the same long term results!
What a great review, and a truly personal and honest one, and what a twist, thank you, glad to hear it helped your bodies.
I feel like a small layer of something ontop of the grid would've been a smart idea to keep the grid feeling from being too bothersome
Thank you so much 😊
that makes sense! they say a mattress lasts between 8-10 years! ❤️
How is your mattress now??? I can only see the time stamp (which is “1 mo”)…please let us know!!
How is it now?
The review we all needed, thank you
Anyone have any issues with customer service or the return process?
I want one really bad but I'm going to wait and see what kind of deals come around Black Friday..
in the market for a new mattress, thank you for your transparency!
Just wondering if you (or anyone else reading this) had ever tried a high quality memory foam mattress for pressure relief and if so, what were your impressions (no pun intended) vs the Purple mattress?
Check into the brand STROBEL, they make THE BEST memory foam mattresses. I have slept on one and it was HEAVEN.
Thank u ! I’m definitely not getting this mattress ! I can’t risk another bad nights sleep ! So gonna keep looking at other mattresses
I watched your first review and now watching this makes me want to get one. Lol
BUT I have worries because you know those small negative reviews about more pain and so on….yeah those are usually me 😭
so I worry about investing in a good mattress. My husband wants to get the purple mattress and he has co workers who enjoy it too…but I have those small doubts 😖
I’ve read on-site some people did have dips happen after a few months or a year but purple says they have a 10 year warranty so you can contact them and let them know to get a new one.
I totally hear you! It took us forever to make the decision to purchase lol but the 100 days they give you to return for 100% money back totally reassured us!
@@macdingle hahha thanks! I am definitely leaning towards a purple now. 🙋🏻♀️
Nice! Just purchased last night, can’t wait!
Just one question on feeling cool on matress, where did you add extra blanket? On top of you or on top of mattress?
We tried them out today and loved it. I’m pregnant and my back is killing me on our terrible mattress. I’m only worried about the sagging reviews some have
we still love ours! I do wonder how long it will take to see sagging but so far we can't see or notice sagging on ours :)
@@macdingle Warranty is 10 years so... But if its really that well made then I doubt sagging will be a problem
My Purple bed lasted for 3 years before sagging. We are working on the warranty process now.
I personally LOVE flat mattresses like this and memory foam and absolutely despise tufted pillowtops
same. what do you have?
2:16, BOO BOO!!!! NOOOO, nearly squashed the boo boo!!! :O
thanks for sharing... couldnt tell if you do actually use a topper or just suggested a thin one if you do. ...
You WILL get "dips" and they will come after two or three years, even when you swing it around to even the wear. My purple developed a groove under me a 190# guy; one year trial is not enough! Got a latex mattress last week and hoping for grove-less sleeping.
Thank you for the video. Was fighting at the time between Purple and Gasper
Totally random, but I love your Day 3 review sweater!
Thank you! Do you have to purchase the platform? We have a really nice handmade platform with the boxspring. ❤️
Can the Purple Mattress be used with an adjustable base?
Yes… they actual sell one for their mattresses
My purple three is hurting my back after three years of use.
@@mocheen4837 on day 96, I went back to Ashley Furniture and cashed in my one freebee and exchanged it for the hardest, most solid Beautyrest Black they make...and I love it. No more early morning back pain.
Purple 2 is now called the Hybrid mattress.. the purple plus is their new model (:
I have had my purple for over three years. King size and it's still perfect. I looked through so many reviews and websites, sorting through all the bs sponsored reviews and happy we kept it.
I literally hate my 3. They are bringing a nectar today. I do love my purple pillow. We have been on it a week and we both hate it. I tried it in the store and swear I have a different mattress. Mine is a brick and we were told if you don’t weigh over 130 pounds for the 3 good luck. I was kind of mad they didn’t tell us that.
I got the purple 4 but after adding the purple mattress protector airflow is significantly reduced which i dont like cayse now it get hotter quicker but than again it is a very expensive mattress at 3k so protection is a must
Do i have to have the purple bed frame? We have a king platform frame now. Do we have to change?
62 days in and my wife and I are going to return ours… we get joint pains from it.
How is the support for nightly activities? No one ever talks about it.
Great review! What sheets do you use/recommend? I love crisp cotton sheets and wonder if they would work with purple mattresses.
Try the soft stretch sheets you will love them
This is definitely one of the better and more enjoyable Purple Mattress reviews here on YT lol Like your bf Jack, I too have mid/lower back pain from a skateboarding injury & our old mattress made it very painful.
Incredible review thank you
Great review....well done!!!
You’re supposed to rotate your mattress every quarter. If everyone did this, it would help with the sagging. Any bed will sag if you never rotate it and continuously sleep in the same spot.
What good is that when 2 people are using the bed.
I was thinking of you the other day after watching Kinwoven UA-cam channel as she is doing her Christmas decor. She is way over the top, but thought you would enjoy it!
I love decorating for Christmas so much! I'll have to check her out!
@@macdingle she’s wonderful! You’ll love her! 👍
Hey I’m looking to buy a mattress for my parents sense they have back pain due to labor work which one would be the best ?
Purple plus 4
My son and daughter love it too
Purple 2 is the Hybrid, not the Plus
I felt like I was sleeping on concrete when we got the hybrid 3. It’s getting a little better tho but idk
had mine for few years...wife hates it and sleeps on the sternsnfoster in the other bedroom. my back honestly starts to hurt and wakes me.
Thank you! There aren’t a lot of long term reviews on the Plus model. We just got the Plus in split king delivered and are waiting for our platform foundation to arrive so we can try these out. I’m going in blind and coming from Tempurpedic. Thank you for your review!!!
let me know how you end up liking it! ❤️
@@macdingle thanks for the reply! We LOVE it! I really didn’t think anything could beat Tempurpedic, but I’m Purple for life (as long as it holds up). Happy New Year!! 🎆
Tempurpedic is garbage. The sink too much and cause crazy back pain.
Hi. how's the Plus been working out after 2 years?
Such a great video! Very informative and interesting. 👍
Is yours the firm or soft version?
They have one with a pillow cover now so you don't feel the grid.
My favorite mattress i love it!!!!!
Live and learn, huh?
loved your review. I the beginning, it locked like you had a box spring. can you use the one we have, or do you have to purchase a different support?
We just used the one we already have!
which matteras cover do you use?
I love your top! Care to share where you purchased it? 😊
I tried them in the store & only getting the 3 or 4. You can't put a price on comfort and w that kind of $ why settle for less
Have this mattress. Hate it!
I wonder how someone will pack it for return 🤔 That may be a reason many don’t return it 😂
We are on our third returned purple mattress. The bed dips after a year. Hate it now my husband and i hurt every morning.
Which one the original purple?
@@Crazyd2050 Is it the edge support? Their edge is terrible and seperates really bad. If it's not the edge support... I can help you fix it :)
