After looking and researching for 10 years, thanks to you and your video, I have programmed a few extra keys for my 2003 Range Rover! Dealer want $354 and cost to program, and all the locksmith in my area could not program Range Rover key fob from 2003 -2005. After watching and you responding to my questions to get the AK90+ programmer to read the EWS chip, I got it done! Thank you very much! Good job Sir!
can you please tell me which frequency key FOB i need to order, 315 or 433/434 Mhz for a US 2001 325ci ? i have seen a few of these videos but nobody ever mentions which FQ the car uses and i have seen both 315 and 433 mhz and then a combo that says it does both FQ's but you need to enter some sequence to switch the FQ. also say if you want to program 3 FOB's but you only have 2 keys registered to the EWS then will it still let you code 3 key FOB's? i just want to get a cheap key for the FOB functions only(lock ,unlock ,trunk)i don't need the key, but i am unsure if i will be able to code the FOB , (ignition ,hold unlock press lock 3 times) or is it linked somehow to the EWS so if i try and code a 3rd FOB without 1st coding a key to the EWS for the immobilizer then it won't let me?
Andrea Mitchell 315 for your car. Most of the cheap keys available with come with a 315 and a 433 transponder. Take the ak90 and do a read on your key and it will tell you what transd ponder chip to use. It won't program the transponder if it doesn't match your ews. You can get a junk key and own the remote only no problem. 2 totally different modules. The ews only handles the immobilizer part. I've seen people get old keys and cut the blade off and use it as a fob. Only bad part is the ignition actually charges the battery in the original bmw key as you drive . You're better off using an aftermarket key because they have a replaceable battery.
ok thanks yeah i don't have an ak90 , and i do not need the transponder at all like i said i only need the RF transmitter part to work i want to use the RF TX chip from a cheap Chinese key to build a little project to have alexa/ google home /google assistant , IFTTT be able to lock/unlock my doors and roll down my windows and roll up my windows(once i code it in NCS expert) and pop the trunk when the car is in the driveway hopefully the test pads will be easy to figure out on the key FOB so i won't need to de-solder the micro switches i am going to use either an ESP8266 based board and connect the GPIO pins to the test pads or buttons or just use some 433mhz quiachip type relays with my broadlink RM pro
Thanks for posting this video Jack! I spent hours browsing the web looking for a solution for the "Pin No Touch" error! Turns out the key problem was at 3:35 in the video. My cable didn't come with any markings on the outside at all and there were no instructions, but I noticed there was a gray arrow on the inside. I thought that arrow needs to line up with the dot on the EWS chip...turns out that's not the case. Had to position exactly like you mention in the video and held it in place firmly. This app also works on Windows 10, I just use the same drivers installed in the AK90 app folder (was designed for XP, Vista and Win 7)
i have a Mini cooper 2005 with the EWS3+ module. after several attempts the Lock Smith could not get the new keys to work. The local lock smith try to program my ebay keys the cut works fine. He could not get the new keys to start the car. I had lost all my orginal keys except for the valet key. The valet key will still start the car but the new keys will not. But the new keys work if I put the valet key and turn the ignition to the on position and then back off. Then the new key will start the car and everthing is fine until i shut the car off. any suggestion.

thanks for the good video. I need two get two flip key fobs and for you two cut the key I have a key code from picking the lock and or a already cut key I can mail to you please let me know how much and about how long you think to will take. and I will program the fob
I have bought and installed the AK90+ programmer (even though a missing file message appeared during installation) then I used the programmer to test my two manufacturer's keys and the new one. In several cases, AK90+ could not find the new key but always read the 2 manufacturer's keys. However, at one point the AK90+ also recognized the new key (Un-programmed, No 86). Then I took out the EWS unit from my car, I connected it with the AK90+ programmer (I had to keep the white plug by hand to ensure proper connectivity with the square chip) I read my car's immobilizer configuration (BIN file) and tried to write the new key. Unfortunately the writing process always ends up with a "Write Error" message. Having the BIN file saved in my laptop, I tried to write the new key several times, all ending with the "Write Error" message (at that the EWS was not connected anymore to the AK90+) . The funny thing is that when I tried to test the new key in some cases it was presented as programmed (No 5 Key with data from the vehicle) and in other cases it was found un-programmed (No 86) and finally now it cannot find the new key at all... Can you suggest which could be the problem? I guess that the ID44 Chip of the new key is malfunctioning, but how can I be sure...?? Can I send you the BIN file to test if the AK90+ read the EWS properly? Please send an email to contact you
Hi, I was able to read the EWS but no success with “test key”, even the original key is really hard to get it tested, I have to adjust positions multiple time before it finds it. Please help
The EWS has 10 memory slots for keys, The first time you use a new key with the correct code on it the EWS assigns it to memory automatically. He did hold it, and in my experience you almost always need to hold it.
nope, the EWS will do this automatically the first time you use the new key. Assuming you havent filled up all 10 slots, and you programmed the key to a number that isnt already used.
HI JACK PLEASE HELP ME i have also this old bmw key x3 e83 2.0dxdrive year 2010 and want also this upgrade key or other one, what is important because they write 315Mhz then 433Mhz and 816 or somethingelse - what is importaant when i buy and where? Aliexpress or ebay ?? Can you send me a link,or say a Name of website please!sorry for my english mybe i wrote grammaticly false.
Hey thanks for your quick reply Jack! do you mean the description of the key when using the AK90? or the info on the back of the key? cause mine is all faded in the back so no way i can read anything on it anymore!
@@mani-00 .the description on the read from the original key. Not actually on the key itself. Basically when you read the key and it displays the old key info it will tell you the frequency also. I'm pretty sure from what i looked up yours is 315.
Hi problem resolved, the cable provided with the unit to connect to the computer must be defective. Used a standard printer cable and the system is now working.
Will it not program it like turning it on to first mode and holding the door open key pressed and pressing door close button 3 times while the doors are closed ?
@@MrCS-81 There is 2 separate systems in key: Transponder (little chip inside of the key, which you have to add to EWS to be able start car) and Remote for doors - which is set by instructions above. So, after programming with ak90 you need also set Remote.
Take a picture of the original key and there's a guy on eBay that'll cut you two keys for $30 you mail him the picture and you'll get the keys in a week
Professional opinion would say yes. In real life ive never disconnected the battery and never had an issue. Just DO NOT turn the key on while the module is unplugged, it may throw the system out of sync and you will need different tools to correct that.
Very useful info! My key was destroyed by my lawn mower. I actually went ahead and ordered the AK90 Programmer. My only question is, do i also need to order the 0B46J K-Line Adaptor to actually program the keys??? or is it just to write info on the ews? Confused on that part.
I have a 2003 525i E39 was thinking about buying a cutter and ak90 and help ppl cheap around me cuz the lowest I was told 180$ and that's just not even reasonable for me
Don Harris try rotating the connector 90 degrees at a time counterclockwise. I've seen the ak90 come wired incorrectly . Also make sure your com port is good and that the ak90 is recognized.
Jack Meyers I was wondering if I should do what you mention however I was warned about blowing the ews? I am pretty sure that the coating is off and I've held down and squeezed then twisted and turned anyway I could, and it's not reading however everything else seems to recognize and read the key so it has to be the connector I'm thinking? And yes I've match the arrow on the connector to the dot on the chip!
Don Harris ok I think that's the problem. The arrow goes to the left the dot goes to the top. They don't align. If you were to hold the connector right in front of you with the dot facing up the arrow on the underside of the connector should be 90 degrees counterclockwise to the dot (or facing left). No matter how you put it on the chip it will not burn out the ews.
I'm strictly talking about the connector on the ak90 btw. I have had 3 of them and every one has been the same. The dot on the white cable cover and the arrow on the underside of the brown connector do not align. The arrow (as looking from the underside of the connector is 90 or 1/4 turn counterclockwise from the dot. Sorry just want to make sure I'm explaining it correctly.
The Hacks-By-Jack Channel the ak90 can program original keys but it can't overwrite them. There are other tools to virginize the oem keys. I've tried a few times to just rewrite on original but no luck.
Hey Jack! Quick question, Just ordered Ak90 for my 2006 330i, what kind of fob (with chip) I need for it ? Been looking all over Ebay, if you have a link or chip type that be great! I have a old used key from another bmw I owned in the past but as you said I can’t rewrite them right ? Thanks!!
Most of the replacements come with both chips from my experience. Amazon has the uograded flip key for $23. Its really well built and comes with both chips. Just use the one that matches your key. The replaceable battery is a big plus also.
Having problems getting the AK90 connected with the EWS. I still get the "PIN No Touch!" How did you clean your chip? I used a small screw driver to clean the coating but not able to get a connection. BTW good video!
jcadeb try rotating the connector 90 degrees in all directions. I've seen them come with the connector wired wrong. I use a small utility knife to scrape the chip.
I'm getting the "Pin No Touch" error as well. Re-watching the video you mention the arrow in the chip connector should point toward the "left"(connection ports). I had assumed the arrow in the connector would point toward the dot on the chip as my connector not come with any markings on the outside. I didn't try any other positions as I was worried if I rotated the chip connector it might screw something up so haven't tried that. I'll dig out my chip again later this week, but was wondering about the "K-LINE OD46J Adapter" also available on Amazon - how would I know if I needed that.
I use a Q-tip and dip it slightly with isopropyl alcohol, then clean the chip lightly. Like Jack mention, turn the chip connector to the left connection ports and just make sure it's firmly seated. Mine works perfectly after that!
@@ryangoelzenleuchter1009 Did you buy a K-Line OD46J adaptor? I am wondering if buying a K-Line OD46J adaptor to provide power to the EWS3 will make it read, as I am unable to get the AK90 to read my EWS3. I scraped the coating off so that I now get contact, but only sometimes. I can red my current key ok, but not the EWS3. I get lots of PIN errors, but I when I do get good contact, it starts reading and says "wait", but that is as far as it goes. It will sit for hours trying to read and display the "wait" message, but I never get a readout. The plug that connects to the chip did not have an arrow, so I tried what I thought was the right orientation. No matter, I tried every position and the EWS3 still works in my car (i.e. the car starts), so do not worry about it corrupting the EWS3. Did you buy one?, and if yes, did it work?
Bennett lock and key Matt and Jade not sure. It says xp or windows 7 only on the drivers that came with mine but it did work on windows 10. Check the port number on your computer. Make sure the ak90 is set to port one. If com port 1 is taken unistall whatever is on it and set the ak90 . If that doesn't work it might be vista.
Bennett lock after installing the AK90 app you should see the icon on your desktop. Right click icon -> Click Open file location, it's inside a folder name "Drv" so click on that application. Otherwise do a search for "AK90" on windows it's located in the same directory as your AK90 app install.
Are you trying to program a used transponder? You shouldn't need the old key. Just read the ews. Select a spot verify the me key transponder type , select a blank key slot and program the new one to that slot.
No, This will only do vehicles that contain EWS Modules (up to around 2006). Later cars use a CAS system and require a tool like autohex to create keys. Considerably more expensive.
I use the sec-e9 but in all honestly i wish I would have went with the x-horse mini. Its a good machine don't get me wrong but for just a little more money the xhorse is better.
Mark J. Kim I was thinking of doing the same thing. The sece9 does a great job of cutting all laser or dimple keys but it won't cut a large majority of standard keys. Some of the laser keys even hit the frame like the VW flip keys. I'm having to take them apart to cut them because you can't lower the guard . Most gm keys it could cut but it won't. It only gives you the option to select 2 of the 4 alignment grooves to cut them and the keys are too short to reach. It makes no sense. I'm just thinking of buying the silica combo code cutter. I think the xhorse mini is slightly better then the sec but I'm not sure if it's worth the difference in price.
If you have 4 keys in the system you are better to select say slot 10 Reason being of you select slot 5 and customer buys a key from dealer then dealer knows there are 4 keys & will code new key to slot 5 thus it will not work as you selected slot 5
Hi Guys, I just cannot read out my EWS3 0D46J and i cannot find a solution anywhere. 0D46J seems unreadable with the cheap AliExpress AK90.... i tested two AK90 Units and i also tested two EWS3 0D46J units with those. thanks for the good video. I need two get two flip key fobs and for you two cut the key I have a key code from picking the lock and or a already cut key I can mail to you please let me know how much and about how long you think to will take. and I will program the fob
Hey there jack wondering if you’re still going to put out the second half on how to program the remote part of the key???
I totally forgot. .I'll put it up tonight when I get home
I need to cut replacement key ,can u help ,
I have bought and installed the AK90+ programmer (even though a missing file message appeared during installation) then I used the programmer to test my two manufacturer's keys and the new one.

I'm interested in the engraving setup you're making good use of. Using a Haas cnc is a bit of a pain. I think I'll check your other videos.
How I can know what models have a ews sistem
Hi, I was able to read the EWS but no success with “test key”, even the original key is really hard to get it tested, I have to adjust positions multiple time before it finds it. Please help
Simo Azmah hi did you ever figure this out? I’m getting the same issue

@@jackmeyers2911 Can you make a duplicate of my key and program it? It's a BMW X5 2006. I have 2 keys I bought on Amazon uncut with their chips.
I got it. Thank you. Did you ever get around to the Toyota ic900 chip reflash
Will this work on EWS 4.3 also?
Hi, Did you hold the reader on the OD46J chip while writing the new key? I mean, how is EWS going to know there's a new key? Thanks in advance. Cheers
The EWS has 10 memory slots for keys, The first time you use a new key with the correct code on it the EWS assigns it to memory automatically.
He did hold it, and in my experience you almost always need to hold it.
can this tool program key for my 2007 bmw 525xi ?
Greetings mate,
So no need to write the new key slot used on the EWS?
Thanks
nope, the EWS will do this automatically the first time you use the new key.
Hi Jack, I am interested in getting a key cut.
What does the nr 4 button do ? I cant figure it out. Thx
MrC that’s for pathway lighting on newer cars, but I think it can be changed on the older ones with coding
AJ Batsche how is that done coding ?
Cool tutorial, for x3 2.5i e83 2005 how do you chose the spare key model? 315mhz or 433mhz?
Thanks. Most are 315mhz. When you read the old key it will tell you the frequency in the description.
It would be not programming - to be able start a vehicle, it would be coding to open door.
O Li thank you I understand that
O Li does the ak90 also do that at the same time ore do i have to do it after the ak90 to open and close doors ?
@@MrCS-81 There is 2 separate systems in key: Transponder (little chip inside of the key, which you have to add to EWS to be able start car) and Remote for doors - which is set by instructions above. So, after programming with ak90 you need also set Remote.
Your instructions above :)
I need a good cheap key cutter any recommendations
Take a picture of the original key and there's a guy on eBay that'll cut you two keys for $30 you mail him the picture and you'll get the keys in a week
Or if have a plenty time cut it on Aliexpress for $4-6
Nice video. How do I program CAS 1 keys on AK 90? Need to also contact you.

Hello Jack,
does car battery need to be disconnected prior to removing EWS module from its location?
Professional opinion would say yes. In real life ive never disconnected the battery and never had an issue. Just DO NOT turn the key on while the module is unplugged, it may throw the system out of sync and you will need different tools to correct that.
Very useful info! My key was destroyed by my lawn mower. I actually went ahead and ordered the AK90 Programmer. My only question is, do i also need to order the 0B46J K-Line Adaptor to actually program the keys??? or is it just to write info on the ews? Confused on that part.
If you do it the way I did it in this video you don't need the adapter. What year and model is your car
I have a 2003 525i E39 was thinking about buying a cutter and ak90 and help ppl cheap around me cuz the lowest I was told 180$ and that's just not even reasonable for me
What did you use, and how did you clean the chip?
Mine won't read and I scraped using a stiff razor.
Would this also work for previously programmed keys or only new blank virgin keys?
The Hacks-By-Jack Channel the ak90 can program original keys but it can't overwrite them. There are other tools to virginize the oem keys. I've tried a few times to just rewrite on original but no luck.
@@jackmeyers2911 Thanks for info.
Okay I am still looking for them, if you have a link that be great, some of those days they only work for E60 others are 85X MHz
Where is the key cut code after reading the module?
Do I need my old key for the AK-90 program to work? Because I lost my keys and don’t have a spare. Please respond, thank you.
No you do not.
mine keeps saying unknown key type or wright error
the car is a 1996 E36 318i the part # on the EWS is: 61.35-8 362 277 110 187. The chip is BMW EWS02 2D47J
By any chamce do you know if the AK90 will work for programming a key to a 2005 BMW 525i?
taz8o9 did you program your key ?
Can i just rewrite the old used key chip without buying the new one?
No.. the orignal can not be overwritten .
Hey jack! Thnks for the vid!
Will this work on a 2008 335i e90 with push start???? Wanu give it a go
No it won't. That's a cas4 system. You need different tools to do those keys. Bmw multitool works pretty good. Quite a bit more expensive though.
@@jackmeyers2911 ahh ok thnks for reply. Probly gunu end up geting at dealer
I have a couple of questions for you
Having problems getting the AK90 connected with the EWS. I still get the "PIN No Touch!" How did you clean your chip? I used a small screw driver to clean the coating but not able to get a connection. BTW good video!
jcadeb try rotating the connector 90 degrees in all directions. I've seen them come with the connector wired wrong. I use a small utility knife to scrape the chip.
jcadeb just wondering did you ever get yours to work?
Hey jack. I have an AK90. And I can’t seem to find and download the driver. I’m using vista. Is that the problem?
Hi, so the ak90 will work on my windows 7 laptop.... it's a 64 but as well. They do say so only... thanks
Yes sir. The laptop i used in this video is windows 7 64 bit.
Where are you located?
I have a 2D47J chip and the software keeps asking to read the key which has a damaged chip how do I proceed?
Are you trying to program a used transponder? You shouldn't need the old key. Just read the ews. Select a spot verify the me key transponder type , select a blank key slot and program the new one to that slot.
Can I use it with windows 10
can I use this to program BMW 520D F10 - 2012 key ?
No, This will only do vehicles that contain EWS Modules (up to around 2006). Later cars use a CAS system and require a tool like autohex to create keys. Considerably more expensive.
hello sir what machine you used to cut keys on bmw. Have link?
Mine keeps saying pin no touch no matter how much cleaning
Wher to buy bmw blank key bmw 545i 2004
Hello Jack, does it need to transfer the existing key transponder chip to the new key?
h46ycl no. It creates what would be like a dealer key in a blank spot in the ews. Your original key will still work fine.
Jack Meyers thank you for the info.
I’m from the Bahamas how do I get in contact with you
If you have 4 keys in the system you are better to select say slot 10
Reason being of you select slot 5 and customer buys a key from dealer then dealer knows there are 4 keys & will code new key to slot 5 thus it will not work as you selected slot 5
Will this process work for a 2009 Key? (X3/E83). Thanks In advance!
hello sir.... good video.... a new subscriber here.
You can't do this with Benz keys, right?
Dan Jensen you can but the tool is quite a bit more expensive and it's a little harder to take out the ignition.
Where are you and what do you charge to cut keys??
nor cal stockton area. $35 to cut them. Thanks
Jack Meyers I lost my blade some days ago, so I have the fob now, without the key. Can I get a blank blade and get it cut without the old one?
franklyn umeh yes. It can be cut by code
Jack how can I contact you to get a key cut and programmed?
Jack Meyers where do you get this code? Lol
Hi Guys,
I just cannot read out my EWS3 0D46J and i cannot find a solution anywhere. 0D46J seems unreadable with the cheap AliExpress AK90.... i tested two AK90 Units and i also tested two EWS3 0D46J units with those. No success at all. one MCU is scraped to the bare metal of the pins, not possible, that there still is no connection. The other EWS3 i actually even soldered directly to the wires of the adapter to the AK90, still "PIN no touch", this is actually impossible and it is driving me insane... Possible that i just received trash AK90s from china? Someone has a link to buy an AK90 which is confirmed to work with the EWS3 0D46J? Thank you so much folks
Hey thereJack can u help need an extra 🔑
Keep getting the following message when attempting to read the EWS. "Please read AK90 key first---!" am I missing a step in loading the software?
I'm heading home from work now. .i'll ruin through mine when i get home and see what i come up with. What ews is in your car or what year is it?
Great video😀
How did it read the info in the EWS?
Jus Benzz it reads directly from the chip on the ews with the in circuit adapter . It then makes the key from the info stored from the ews bin file.
They do say it only works on xp, dam spell check. Thanks
Ive used it on windows 7 though. It worked fine. You can always set it to run in xp compatibility mode on 7 or 10.
@@jackmeyers2911 hey, great video.
I did everything identical to you and it worked. My question is this. I seen a video where the key is written to the Ews after it’s burned onto chip. Is that necessary? Thank you in advance
