Nothing can be taken away from his college career despite his actions in the pros. He definitely had great players around him, but he was a terrific runner and could make unreal throws (back across the body, etc).

SLITHERx CONJURING problem is his off the field issues really wasn't why he was under performing in the NFL. Jonny knew how to run and make plays when the pocket collapsed that's all he knew. He was never a pocket passer. He barely studied defenses because he didn't have too he made all his plays on the run that's all he knew. Excellent college player could have been a decent NFL player with the proper education and work ethic. He was a star he was popular. He cared more for the fame than anything. I can name 50 reasons why Manziel didn't make it in pro level without going into his off the field issues.

You didn't read my statement correctly, I said IF he didn't, obviously he did. BTW, take way Mike Evans' production and deduct it from Johnny's, you have a 3rd round QB at best, and that's why he slid to the Browns.

Agreed. The awesome thing about Manziel in that game was that a lot of his best throws & runs came more than 5 seconds after the ball was snapped, after he got under pressure and found a way out of it. That might be the key to beating Alabama, and yet neither team really has a way to plan for it.

being an ND fan i watched this game and when Johnny Football tore up Alabama's defence i thought that Bama's defence just wasnt as good as everyone though it was. Then while i watched ND get stomped on in the BCS championship game i relized just how goo Johnny Manziel is.

Nobody "lets" him do anything. Every defense he faces has DON"T LET HIM RUN at the top of their must-do list. Yet every game, particularly at the end of the season, he had huge success running the football. He's that unstoppable
NFL defenses will be more able to execute complex containment schemes. They'll be better at tackling him in the open field. But it's not like he's strictly a runner. He threw for 3700 yds and has shown the ability to drop dimes when needed. And he's only getting better.

People talk how Colt McCoy not playing vs. Bama in the Title made no difference. Then just look at Johnny Manziel, very similar to Colt in Abilities and Size

From what I just saw Alabama sacked him at least 5 or 6 times, stopped him on fourth down at least twice, and completely ran through A & Ms offensive line like a knife through hot butter. Sure, his ability and legs helped him scramble and get yards but he was constantly under pressure from Alabamas pass rush.

Wait on him man, he's just a freshman and already a sensation.
Give him the next 2-3 years and he will be a BEAST OF A QB.

What a waste of pure talent and ability. Wish he would’ve found a way to keep it together in the pros and his personal life. Happy to see he’s starting to have some clarity in his life.
In regard to the game, you can’t help but feel for a Quarterback that’s trying to beat a team like Alabama knowing they can’t rely on their kicker. What an absolute dog in that game.

To with in on the Manziel vs. Mariota debate, I find it very difficult to compare the two, as they are both very different players who are asked to do different things on offense. Manziel is asked to do much more through the air than Mariota and is probably a more dangerous scrambler as well, but Mariota is more consistent, less mistake-prone, and can throw with better touch. I would say right now each of them is best for their respective teams.

have you been watching him? obviously not because he time and time again picked apart the alabama defense who had shut everyone down to that point. and watch vids on his deep ball accuracy. the kid can throw, he's the total package

The one reason they lost is because saban gave them off practice monday because they were beaten up from the lsu game , but bama did a great job , but couldnt catch up with johnny manziel... roll tide
