Sometimes natural talent ends up being a curse. Because he was effortlessly so good in college, it reinforced in his mind that he didn't have to do the hard work, the film study, etc. And that simply doesn't work at the NFL level. The guys who had to work hard day after day to earn it are the ones who end up as nfl legends.

@@WanderingWolf365I think maybe they can appreciate that he was an undersized underestimated quarterback that had some natural athleticism but one that in a sense no one really wanted, the girl he wanted to go to the dance with said no, yet somehow he managed to go transmute these physical and psychic limitations into the momentum to become a truly transcendent quarterback for a time who was more than the sum of his parts.
It’s easy to write some off as just too lazy to make the next leap, and some people are, yet we all know life is actually more complicated than that, and we all know we all know this yet somehow-even with less publicity than Manziel-we’ve all felt this reductionism imposed on us by the world, family, loved ones, at some point
We all can reach highs we’ve only dreamed of yet still be told by the world or ourselves it’s still not enough and we fear it never will be.
Maybe they just hopes he’s doing ok because they want to believe we are more than the sum of our parts and magic isn’t fleeting it’s all around us always

That Alabama play, "The" play. What people don't often note is:
    1. Look at the freaking cavernous pocket! That '12 OL was a collective beast. All season. Complete lockdown of Alabama D on that play. The football could have hit the ground and he would still have had time to pick it up and reset and then throw. Amazing!
    2. Because of Manziel's legit threat to run and throw, they couldn't fully commit to max blitz or rush 3. So they split the diff and rushed 4. So 7 are back. There are 5 Aggies on the move. So Alabama has a +2 defensive advantage. And yet, somehow, Swope is WIIIDDEEE open. Like criminally so. Someone saw the bobble and their muscle memory kicked in and for a moment treated Johnny like a typical QB. And lost sight of Swope.
Just like a lot of that season, it just seemed like pretty much everything broke in A&M's favor in key moments and they usually took advantage of it. With the notable exception of LSU. They always made him look like a typical QB.

The nfl, margin for error is too small, and he can’t juke people like he could in college (nobody but Lamar can), so he couldn’t be wrong as much and still win plays like he did in college. It was a processing issue, and he couldn’t our athlete teams at the nfl level.

just imagine what this dude could've been if he took it serious going into the NFL But I think thing's would've been different if he got drafted to a different team.

So glad my Dallas Cowboys drafted Z.Martin instead of J.Manziel…..it seemed like a no brainer pick to take Martin but there was so many “fans” that wanted Manziel, for some crazy reason, anyway, Martin is still playing at a high level and will be in the HOF

people don't get Johnny was playing in the NFL and completing 57% of his passes without watching any tape. He clear has a high Football IQ and if he watched tape and put the work in off field he would be one of the best NFL QBs out there.

Him talkin about the pump fake play, they would practice all the time, makes me laugh. While I believe they did practice it, or scrambling period, I remember a lineman, Joeckel or Matthews was asked how do you block for somebody who scrambles and runs so much. They said it was the hardest thing they had to do because some plays where he would supposed to be in the pocket and they'd look back to make sure he was good and he wouldn't be there, they'd look forward again and he'd be ten yards down field hahaha Just wish he had his priorities down pat and was in a different system when he got drafted. Can't imagine what he would've done if his head was screwed on straight.
