I find the Meinl Classics custom bell sound reminds me of a train or phone ringing. It's like my Zildjian b12 alloy hi- hats bell nearly, high pitched if thats the term. I wonder if anyone likes the Meinl Pure alloy? Meinl are nice, but in videos they seem mellow to me. I use mostly Wuhan crashes for rock here. Drummer for Megadeth uses mostly Customs Classics dark!
I had a ride cymbal which could qualify for a 'metal music/hard rock' ride: a Meinl 'Raker' 20" heavy ride. That thing had a loud piercing ping when ridden on the body and a huge sounding bell. Too much for the music I play so I sold it for what I paid for it. Ideal for the genre it was designed for though.
The zildjian mega bell is the king of all metal rides. Mario duplantier has a way of making that cymbal come to life. The sound is very pingy but also somewhat melodic.
I give the Paiste a 5/10. Mienl a 7/10 for better ping. Zildjian a 3/10 All of them have too much swell and wash. Bring back the old Zildjian 24" Heavy Ping. If you can find one, you'll never go back. Some people think they have nickel in them, IDK. The ping was clear as crystal and cut through anything, like tapping a crystl glass with a fork, while the wash was a low roar that never swelled, no matter how you beat the rim. Even then, the ping was still at the front of the voice.
I have a Meinl MB20 22” heavy bell ride. My all time favorite ride cymbal.
That's a kick ass ride!
don't forget the classic sabian aa/aax with the raw bells. honestly, imo those can't be beat
I think the Meinl really stood out here but all 3 were great
Thanks! Yea the Meinl ride is killer!!

No Sabian HH power bell? THAT is the best metal ride ever made!

I've been using the Zildjian Mega Bell ride for over 2 years now..its incredible!!
I know that zildjian 21 mega bell ride is great, but how about paiste 24 giant bell? I have no idea about them, I mean, it's huge 24"
I think Meinl has this one. As far as Paiste metal rides go tho I'd say go rude. I'd like to see how sabian stacks up too
I had an AAX Metal ride 20 for many years, it’s a beast
I have the Sabian Neil Peart Paragon ride as well! Its really good but eats up sticks quickly!!
The 18" dark big bell is 10/10
@@kurturbain984 I have one as well, excellent ride, lots of power and penetration but also has a very sweet sound.
I need to find a paiste alpha 24" rock ride that thing looks insane
Great vid
Hey thanks!
To me those Meinl big bell rides sound pretty thin. Not my favorite.
I give the Paiste a 5/10.
Mienl a 7/10 for better ping.
Zildjian a 3/10

The paiste has sounds better in general except the meinl bell, which is also easyer to play with complex patterns.
Paiste Rude. But pretty much all manufacturers make great cymbals for whatever need you have
Paiste, Zildjian, then Meinl.
I was looking at a video that was a just using street signs as symbols how did I get here

I can maybe afford a street sign, thanks! 🙏
You need a zildjian mega Bell ride
I have one!
