This is my favorite song by Kid Rock. I was born in Jackson, MS moved to Arkansas when I was thirteen and young. Took a trip back there 5 years ago. Had a very bad alcohol and drug induced night sleeping in the bushes of a hotel that I, nor no one I knew was at. Lowest point in my life. I woke up and this song was playing on the radio on the drive home. I cleaned my act up after that night. I thought maybe a higher power was trying to tell me something. No shit.

I love how it starts off kinda slow and then rocks so good. It's almost as if he was trying to portray how he fought it for so long and just finally gave into who he is and was always meant to be. In my opinion one of his best ever!

Today was my brother's birthday. He loved this song. It has nothing to do with Jackson Mississippi. It's about the shame that one feels after doing intravenous drugs and how it feels like a never ending river... Probably already said in the comments, but it's my brother's birthday and he died 3 years ago. I can't say enough about him, and I'm talking to strangers at this point. Thank you for listening, and please don't judge me for what I said. Bryan Pierson was born on May 13th. He died June 3rd. He is my brother and I miss him everyday. This is his song. Kid Rock came to Jackson, Mississippi last year and I took my two sons who were 13 and 14 to it. I grew up in Jackson and during the 70's went to literally a hundred good concerts here and I thought they'd enjoy the experience. I knew a little of his music but not much. Out of all those concerts I couldn't remember anyone interacting with the crowd like he did. When he did Jackson Mississippi the place came unglued unlike I'd ever seen before. I left a huge fan and admiring the man to boot.

Spending over a decade of my life on tugboats, this song speaks my language and means a lot to me. Its a bipolar lifestyle. You dont have to be crazy but it certainly helps. Ill never get those years back. The friendships the family the death you couldn't be there for. This song is lit.
I remember it vividly-the night I was driving into Jackson, Mississippi, looking forward to a visit with my father. The air was heavy, but I didn't think much of it. As I neared the city, my phone rang. It was a call that changed everything. My heart sank as I heard the words, "Your father has passed away."
The world seemed to stop. The rest of the drive felt endless, each mile stretching on as I tried to process the news. I had been so close to seeing him, to spending time with him, but now I was headed for a funeral instead.
Memories of him flooded my mind-his laughter, his wisdom, the way he always knew how to make things better. I felt a deep sense of loss, knowing I wouldn't hear his voice again, wouldn't share another moment.
That night was the longest of my life. The grief was overwhelming, and the journey seemed to last forever. By the time I arrived, it was as if I had been driving for days. Jackson had always been a place of comfort, but now it felt like a stranger.
I attended my father's funeral in a daze, surrounded by family and friends who shared in the sorrow. It was hard to accept that he was gone, that this visit would be our last goodbye. That night and the days that followed were a test of endurance, of coming to terms with a new reality without him.
Through the pain and the tears, I found strength in the memories we shared, in the love he left behind. And even though that night was long and hard, it was also a reminder of the bond we had-a bond that even death couldn't break. Mr Ritchie doesn't remember me I am sure. But we met after his concert at Hardrock. We met at the after party at Tao. Again the night you hosted the Halloween party at Lavo. Man what great times. One of your biggest fans. Remember when you forget words down in Orange Beach MS? I even named my first son after you. Robert James Duke. Well sadly enough time has caught up to me. No more elevator rides with Stafani at the Malibu Inn before the show and partying with ZZ Top and David Spade. Doc gave me 4 to 5 mos without treatment and a year with. After surgery we chemotherapy I'm on month 10. Unfortunately I spent gave most of my money to my favorite charities, you know strippers, hookers, limo drivers, and I'm hustling my ass off to keep afloat. Hey maybe you want to film a quick short movie with me? I am a modern day treasure seeker. Check out youtube America's Top Buyer. Paid to film but was what we wanted. Did get six episodes out. Have studio and distribution all lined up. Just need a few bucks and we can hit the backroads and find some cool stuff. Make a few millions to leave to the kids after I am gone. Well just wanted to say you got me through a lot of tough times and Thank you for being America's Bad Ass.
