It's guys like you that actually helped me with my success like with ignition coils, points, timing, etc. You now have another mechanic (technician) who's into fixing up older cars. I'm now 18 and about to go into a technical college to have a career in this field.
I wish you good luck .lol it's addictive that said im glad the new generation is taking interested I the old cars . Remember look to the older generation they have lote of experience you can't get out of a book
Honestly I feel the same with it, Im not into college yet but this guy basically cemented my career plan. That and I now have a love for old trucks.
I'm curious. Any updates 3 years later??
should be qualifying any day now? i hope you saw it through
Update on this. 4 years later, I’m soon to be officially going in to a body shop to start work.
If you guys keep making content like this, your channel is going to blow up. This is the type of stuff people want to see
Lets hope so!
@@JunkyardDigs Even more so if you'd included the footage of you nearly blinding yourself. UA-cam viewers are some sick individuals...
Yeah they'll probably blow themselves up someday.
I fully agree!
YES
We need a revivals race. Everything you do in this video followed by a 600 mile road trip
Yes I agree
great idea
Never happen, running around the yard is one thing..................driving 600miles, another. Nice bunch of guys, funny as fuck, but also rougher than fuck, i wouldnt want to go on the highway for 600miles in anything they have produced.
@@marksbikeexports5123 check out vice grip garage when he picks up his independence car and fixes it in motel parking lot then 600 mile trip home in it
@@thomasharvey4825 l follow him, big difference, he only pretends to be a hack.
9:30 "I don't know how injection works. Just go!" While holding a propane torch. I died.
This is basically smart people getting into dumb shenanigans and I love everything about it.
I enjoy this channel a lot more than the ones where people talk about their Lamborghinis.
Thanks for all the great work!
I've hung out with both types of folks. These are my people. Real. The richie rich types, well, it's hard to find one that is a normal decent human.
Well said!
@@darthbader6506 If someone has a Lambo, I'm happy for them. Living in Hong Kong, they're not even an unusual sight. But I'd much rather be present at a Revival than an exotic car meet-up. I think it would be about 100x more fun.
Ya because its cars anyone could get

Junkyard Digs finds an old, rusted out Mopar and wants to buy it. Seller "it's really a piece of crap and probably won't run" Junkyard Digs "shut up and take my money"
wb6162 just like og roadkill
Lol
she'll run :P
The "find a filthy, rusty, abandoned turd of a vehicle and get it running" theme never gets old. Always a winner, if the hosts have any personality at all. You guys do.
Hey guys. Lots of fun getting things going. I never saw brake fluid that dirty. Boys with their toys. Lots of fun. Thanks for sharing.
Yes I'm pretty sure its jot supposed to be *quite* that rust colored
Glad to see things returning to normal.....Luke tripping/falling.
Funny how a tired motor and rusty exhaust system sounds a lot like a big gnarly cam.
00:00 I had better see some Callahan brake parts in this build.
Summoning the power of a thousand mullets really paid off. 😂
Plus this guys mullet!😎💪🇺🇸👍
Watching this at work and at about 6:50 my coworker called to me from across the room "Are you watching dolphins fight?"
You legitimately made me spit my drink out reading this comment lmao
🤣
This was an excellent video Kevin! I love when you and your friends are working on projects together. This was an excellent idea for a video and it made me laugh many times. And little brother did some fantastic camera work on this! I Love my junkyard boys! Mom
a small nail put into the fitting head facing the master cylinder would seal your brake line
Nothing like the sound of an old dodge starter
Got to hear them a lot because those old mopars never liked to start or run haha
sounds just like my mr2s lmao
Mike Miller only the ones tuned by chebby boys
@@mmiller1188 if you knew how they liked to start, they start every time :)
Frigglebiscuit every dodge near me cranks a good 20 seconds before firing lol
this looks cool
Thin mints were a nice touch
1 minute in.... This is cool
i was wrong....
That was awesome
I tried this in a 77 dodge motorhome that had been sitting 20 yrs. Brakes were weak to start with, 9 miles later at the first intersection, a big one, front lines popped when i braked. I think the vacuum my ass had on the seat was all that stopped me.
My favorite part 22:40 you can hear him second guess the plan, and then, his reassurance, 'mom, if you're watching, I'm fine, it's fine, everything's fine'...LOL
New part for the toolbox: Master Cylinder block-off plugs
As a mopar nut who just got a 76 big block 4 speed powerwagon up and going, I approve
Tramram The First i do actually have one of those
I'd love it if you guys did a Top Gear challenge by buying janky cars and taking them on road trip challenges
Damn, I'm 62 years old and I wish I could roll with you young'uns. You all just seem to have a blast whenever you get together.
Same, I am 66.
Fantastic video. Love the concept. Would be fun to see some race action (even if it's just drags across a field!) to see those old engines stretch their legs, given you spent all that time getting them to run again!
Ethanol in fuel has so much to answer for, on older cars it literally eats fuel system components from the Tank pump sock.Strainer, Fuel gauge level floats, seals, hose etc.
I know some states in the US has high E content and it varies a lot as it does here in Aus but lucky for me Victoria still has Ethanol free fuels.
But wait, theres more!
It's hygroscopic and soaks up moisture and then dumps it in places to rust stuff up, destroy fuel pumps, injector nozzles etc and the big one for E85 is to add water to the sump oil on cars that sit a while, Ask me how I know this lol
Omg kyle that float bowl looks like none hardened concrete coming off the pliers @Junkyard Digs
The narration! This is like the Iowa Top Gear. (The UK version, not the American one. I mean who would prefer that one?) @junkyarddigs
Any chance the putty at the bottom of the carb bowl was lead?
Don't think so. Only supposed to be unleaded available by '89. I'm going to look under my '88 to see if it has a cat. Converter equals unleaded only.
@@jameshafner1442 The van was a 77, but i don't think it is lead because they were only recently parked i.e. in the last decade. Me thinks that it's ethanol that's solidified with a touch of metal from the bowl in the substance.
@@jameshafner1442, it wasn't fully phased out until the mid 90s.
It’s awesome to see you guys saving some Central Iowa classics. I see so many great cars and trucks around the area that are just rusting away and it’s pretty sad.
I love ur vids I love see old barn revivals or just first in years
I meant first start in years
I meant first start in years
26:26 "anyone want to watch Tommy Boy when we get home"
Me: i am literally going to a drive in to watch that... Wow
Tommy boy is a fitting movie. Still makes me sad when he destroys that Plymouth.
@@larryfogle3697 the look on David's face when the door hits the ground and chris say what did you do lol
watch Mustie 1, he is a former mechanic and does things as cheaply as possible.
When he can, when something needs done right, he does it right.
@@DeatGaming He get's it running cheap...then makes it right by cleaning/rebuilding everything
You guys totally used my idea I think that is awesome! It's really cool to know that you guys do read emails from fans. Honestly today is my birthday and it's been a super crappy week but seeing this totally made my day!
Yes, gimme more of this. We need more competitions like this. Used car duels?
Also 13:02 Looks just like the bowl of the carb on my Yugo when I first pulled it out. No idea what that is but cleaning the whole carb seemed to bring it back to life.
loved this episode!! would love to see a third team with your uncle and father. would have been awesome
Hey youtube actually recommended something that isn't a decade old.
This was badass and a joy to watch
That blue van interior sure brings back a lot of memories. We had a 78 B200 2 tone blue with blue interior for decades. Thing liked to wander all over the place despite the front end being rebuilt. and it went through 3 steering boxes and needed another when we sold it. Cheaply built vans, always leaked water from the body seams and EVERY time you wanted to take it on a camping trip about a week before about 3 or 4 things would break on it. Never failed to do that. The starter in that van sounds sickly. Glad I don't have to deal with it anymore!
This comment makes my want to cry seeing as I have big plans for my 72 b100 this summer haha
@@kickflip6270 Good luck with it. I drove that thing to my drivers license road test.
I was working on a 440 motor home and all we did was through a battery and some gas in her and she started like brand new. Love the videos keep em up!!
Judging by the running condition, that van needs more than a new fuel, ignition, lubrication and cooling system 😂😂. You guys are the best!! the spark plug is sparking all over the place but where it suppose to, my buddy's saying it's all good and i can't disagree regarding the whole situation😂😂. Keep it rolling guys, you're on the right path.
I rarely use the word epic, but that fall backwards into the pickup bed Luke did was just that! I had a big LOL! 🤣
Oh, that fall at the end. I started laughing soo hard. That was great!
This is a great video. It’s good to see your old videos after watching your new ones. Keep doing your thing because the people enjoy it.
Girl Scout cookies are like hard-tack, they will last 50 years or more! Designed to be survival food. Great video, really enjoyed the competition. Alas, do we have to wait a year for the next?
Good video - I’m gonna go by a tee shirt because of it !
Love the old 70's Dodge vans! Would love to find one again!
When he fell over backwards, I dang near spit the water I just drank out of my mouth. 😂🤣
I love the sound of the starters when these cars are cranking, especially the van! But both are great!
2021 Revival Race? Great video by the way.
Imagine that, a couple pyromaniacs scared of a little flammage!!! Lol. Too much fun!!! Keeps you on your toes! Had better luck with your old ford trucks last year Kev! Keep up the good work boys! LMFAO!
It’s always fun working outside like that. Today my friend and I used an old car as a workbench to reseal an engine for his riding mower. Worked great.
I love how early the Ram unreliably started. Then it started to run, but that was halfway through. Also this is great
That was pretty good! That junk in the carb was really foul. Good job guys. Entertaining!
Damn man, glad your eyes are okay. These chemicals/solvents are no joke.
Got myself in the eye with brake cleaner a few months ago. Fun times! Poison Control hotline said there wasn't anything to worry about, but man that sucked.
“It’s a race, not to see who can stop faster”
Cant get enough man keep them comin!!!!💚🤙🇺🇸
great videos, keep it up! One thing, the Van is a B Series. But I wouldn't expect a Ford and Chevy guy to know this, so you need to spend more time (and make more videos with) Dylan!! Glad Luke didn't get hurt when he fell off the bed...but I did LMAO
The only time I have ever seen a carb worst that !!!!! it was in a river for a long time, when we pulled the truck out, that's just crazy, never seen anything like that sitting on a car on land wow
That van just gives the vibe of a car that is going to fight you all the way....
Great content - really enjoyed the race element.
I bought a 89 with less than 40K on it. I loved that truck. Talk about something that loved the highway. It'd purr doing 90 and didn't have a clue what hills were in the mountains.
As an owner of a 79 dodge b300 van this is really enjoyable to watch.
I would have just bent the line so it pumps fluid back into the master reservoir.
Would love to see more of these done by you guys
I Enjoy the content I love the vids you have inspired me to start working on engine I’ve started off with small engines
That is the best way to start learning about engines start with 2 stroke engines then go to 4 stroke engines
Brandon Hall I’ve already started working on 4 strokes and one 2 stroke
i absolutely love these, good to see iowa getting some good representation for the car shenanigans
Great video Luke and Kyle good work @JunkYard Digs
I had a revival about 6 months ago. 89 Dodge D250, TBI 360. Had 60k original miles, was an old Ohio county truck. But it sat in this lady’s front yard for 2-3 years. I went over with a buddy. New battery, a two gallon gas can for prime, cut the belt off the locked up smog pump and it fired right up on a 1/4 tank of old gas. Drove it 15 miles home on almost no brakes for $650! That thing was fun till it popped both head gaskets the first time I went full throttle lmao!
I would keep the Van (Make it reliable) and place the Grill Guard from the Truck on the Van!
the power of dodge
You can't kill them mopars. that van would of ran better but it looks like it was ran with no fuel filter for a very long time if it had a decent carb on it the thing would of ran good
79tazman you can’t kill any old car really made right back then
Hi I think you and mook are wicked I think you should give mook that lovely gold car you can tell she loves it ,all the best from Alan from England 🇬🇧
Pure fun to watch add an actual cannonball run to the revival and you got yourself much watch tv.
I’d say first one who makes it to Derek’s at Vice Grip and pops s cold snack wins!
Pulled the same "putty" out of an oem carb off of a 74 ford 2000 tractor that the last owner tried to get running a year prior after sitting five years by loading the tank with a gallon of fuel and "mechanic in a bottle" then cranking it for a half hour and calling it quits..... I put a new zenith on it and it ran great.
It's always nice to see a bunch of friends together working on Old Mopars couldn't get any better than that I know you guys are Mopar haters but you can't beat those two little motors with a stickman both very dependable specially the 318 but I would take the 360 any day of the week. You guys please stay safe stay well and as always God bless
I figured Thunderhead289 would win, because the EFI 318 Mopars are a very solid engine as long as the plugs, rotor, and points are good. 70s carburetor Mopar V8s with the smog crap can be quite temperamental, by contrast.
I have heard of a car being an eye sore but this van actually made your eyes sore! That was really a lot of fun and I hope you recovered well. With him falling into the truck you guys might want to have an ambulance there next time just in case:)
That was an awesome video! Full of what to do’s and definite don’ts! 😂🤣😂🤣. Lot of fun to watch!
Nice. What I'd give for one of those. Also 1 hour ago! 40 comments?
Brake clean in your eyes is the worst thing!! I’ve pulled it off before and it sucks. I remember guiding my dad into the house when I was a kid because he’d just managed to get carb cleaner in both eyes, and I like that you put Luke on the fuel injected truck 🤣 watching a carb guru put his hand over the throttle body as if it would create a beneficial vacuum was pretty funny lol
Ive got a 1976 dodge b300 (not d) 1 ton van, has a 440, if you ever replace the reluctor gear in the dizzy make sure you have it phased properly, they can be used on both small and big block mopars and the phasing is important for getting your timing dead on.
Man I was sitting there hoping you'd get some glasses on.. sometimes you've gotta learn the hard way.. more than once.
To fix the leaking brake line just use a pair of vice grips on the rubber line by the wheel. Old grain trucks can run around for years like this.
Props to the camera person for not pissing themselves laughing during the video and the resulting shaky cam because of it.
Y'all need to come revive my old truck lol 😂 she could use it
My 90 bronco needs some help also. Only if i had time out of the semi
Back in my high school days late 70's,, they had a contest among other school automechanics class called the plymouth trouble shooting contest whe plymouth furnished the cars all sabotaged in the same mannor and we were timed in competition, was pretty cool, this video reminded me of that
I like the van, I believe it’s what the kids these days call “groovy”
The Sportsman van will always remind me of Davidsfarm's Tradesman with the I6 that sounded like a diesel.😂
SO SHWEEEETTT...much love Tee with LIONS NAMED LEO.[the music worldwide}
and oooo weee fun!!!!
Really liked this race concept! Love that van! I vote you name it Spudnightmare and drop a diesel in it. rollin coal in the potato!!
Nothing more fun than carb/brake clean in the eyes.
You guys remind me of my buddies and I back in the day. Thanks for the videos.
My first car was a 1989 W250, with the Holley TBI on the 360. Had a horrible backfire problem when I went to accelerate (couldn’t do high school burnouts because of it). After a year and 4,000 miles, and thousands of dollars in parts, my timing was 12 degrees off (2 ATDC instead of 10 BTDC). It’s been 2 years since and it’s still my daily driver. But unlike this one in the video, it has 61k miles and completely solid. Perfect for a 21 year old college kid.
Loved how you used the truck you all just got running to pull the van out of the mud
Ah, brake cleaner in the eyes.....been there. Everyone who has worked on cars is almost guaranteed to have had this happen at least once!
I accidentally sprayed myself in the eyes with a oil can with a very sensitive squeeze
So far I've managed only to get it in my mouth, still no fun
only yesterday, cleaning out the back of an old vacuum gauge...
god yea, ive done it and my eyes were watering at the thought of it again.
Reminds me of my 89 d100 when I first saved it from a 3 year slumber thing just didnt want to fire but once it got it going a few times it always started hell that was 2017 and I still drive it
great video kevin hahahha the truck ran first and moved lol good try lol that van didnt want to stay running niether it didnt want to stay ideling but you got it to do both so thats good and man i never seen that in a carb before thats the worst i ever seened but you got it all cleaned up so hopefully she will run good now lol thumbs up and shared
That old van actually looks pretty good for it's age. Maybe could be saved or even restored and out back on the road?
MORE PLEASE!!! This was awesome guys!!! great video.
this was great guys i am definitely a fan of the revivals aas long as you put your safety glasses on hahaha
Cold weather….. throttle body injection (TBI) vs carb…… not surprised. If they had electrical issues though, it was a wrap. Both have advantages/ disadvantages, but carb would win in a pinch every day. I have a sniper efi, but I’m well aware I’m screwed if I break down electronically (other than the Bosch style O2)
