      Also, you guys pay ridiculous amounts for insurance... that you might never use... same thing as paying a bit more on taxes.
      Paying my taxes isn’t going to make me bankrupt, but getting cancer in the states without insurance would.

    When I was in College, at a Gas Station in line someone tried to pickpocket me. They were rather artless, and I felt two fingers reach into my back pocket. I reached back, grabbed my wallet firmly, and turned to give the guy a piece of my mind and comment about how crap he was at pickpocketing. When I turned around though, the dude standing there looking at me was roughly 6'7", and easily over 350 pounds. Basically imagine a slightly shorter version of The Big Show, standing there. I knew I had to say something, but I definitely did not want to start a fight with a guy who looked like he could knock me out cold with his pinky finger, so I kinda panicked, pointed in his face, and said "NO!". It was the only time in my life where someone actually tried to pickpocket me, and to this day I'm thrilled that he had no reaction to my loud proclamation of "NO!".

    One cool trick I used to use in Jamaica... Just reach down your pants and give your pocket a single twist if you can. It works great with larger pockets and literally seals and makes it impossible to reach in or get anything out without fixing the pocket first. When you want your stuff, just adjust your body a bit, reach into your pocket and untwist it from the inside of the pocket instead of going down your pants again.
    It's a pretty awesome and impromptu trick that works especially well for men, or other clothing with larger pockets, and doesn't cost anything or require any setup or anything like that. You can very quickly and easily seal your valuables before entering a crowded area like a subway or busy street and undo it just as fast. You can pretend like your tucking in a shirt and do the twist, or try to twist from inside the pocket...
    It really does work great if your pants are tight enough to keep the pocket twisted, but not so tight that it's impossible to undo.
    Hope this helps someone. It's a neat trick and if it can stop someone having their stuff stolen, that would be awesome.

    Reminds me so much of when I used to play Rust. A friend and I would pick a base and head there close to sundown with... not the best gear, but good enough that someone would say "I'd have that." We'd engage and skirmish a little with the occupants of the base we wanted and as night fell we'd run off into the dark. The trick came with the third participant, who was staying low and out of the way, watching the base. Light would shine through walls in Rust Legacy, so while the people in the base prepared to repel a raid, they would run around with torches and flashlights, moving all their stuff to a single "secure" location. The lookout would mark that location and when the target group logged out, we'd come back and c-4 our way right to their treasure room that they so kindly showed us.

    • @zerovking7629

      I got robbed by group before in rust when I was very new to the game (2 hours) and when I logged off after building my first base and putting some random stuff in the singular chest I had I came back only to find out my whole base got destroyed and the only thing left was my items on the ground with some taken so after that I just went back to playing tower defenses

    • @JackSilver1410
      @JackSilver1410 3 роки тому +2

      @@zerovking7629 It was a rough game. I was fortunate enough to be found and taken in by a group and actually taught the game. It was a hell of a roller coaster. Few things matched the high of successfully defending or raiding a player's base, and nothing was more soul crushing than logging in to find all your stuff gone. Still, I had a great time and some fond memories.

    My friend once picked my pocket and swapped my phone for his as a joke because we had watched a pick pocketing video a few days earlier and had started a weeklong theft challenge to see who's better at it. Anyways once I realized I moved in to swipe it back and replaced it with a cardboard calling card thus putting me in possession of both phones before tossing his back to him. I think the only reason why it worked is because we were equally unskilled at it so neither of us was able to pick up on the now obvious in hindsight, giveaways to each grab.

    A few years ago, during a visit to a nearby town, it was very busy, there were loads of people.
    I felt something move in my coat pocket, figured my phone was vibrating, reached into my pocket and got the fright of my life. Someone else's hand was in my pocket, I quickly grabbed my phone and turned around. I guess they got scared because I was now aware someone was trying to steal my phone.
    Lesson learned, now I always pay attention to everything in my pockets, at all times. And keep my distance from everyone :D

      Deep front pockets and put a balled up plastic bag on top in your pocket. It should be hard for them to pick without talking to you and the plastic bag will hopefully make noise and confuse them while they're digging. The bag should also fall out if they pull something out that is deeper than it. That's the best I can come up with to stop the technique used here.

    The having a partner to hand off to thing is so brilliant. This is sort of how we used to sell LSD at Grateful Dead shows using 3 different partners. The person asking strangers quietly if they want LSD would NEVER carry the LSD just in case. If someone wanted the LSD we would take them and offer them to share a joint and once they smoked with us or we talked to them a bit and were sure that they were not police, only then would we continue. Once they told us how much they wanted one of us would get up go over to the holder of the quantity and get only what the customer wanted and then return to the circle. Then we would give the people their acid. Or if there only were 2 of us , one of us would have some other friend holding the doses come up to act like they were just sitting at the circle next to the buyer. We had hand signals that specified the number of hits or sheets. The right hand meant single doses. The left hand was full sheets. So 3 fingers on the left hand meant 3 full sheets. Rarely did anyone need a strange amount like 15 hits, but if that happened we would just really quickly say “18” . It was brilliant and worked every time.

So in my country and city we don't really trust cops, I was approached by one who was asking me about how to get something from their phone (something about a password I believe), and the moment they came near me I made a full scan of what I was carrying at the moment, cellphone, wallet and backpack. The entire time I was conscious of their movements, the content of my pockets and not a single second I grabbed or touched their phone, nothing happened besides me helping them but putting this knowledge to work it's very interesting tbh.
