To clarify. IMEI Number. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Mobile_Equipment_Identity Erik is quite correct. Swapping the SIM will change your mobile number, but the phone will always have the same IMEI number which is burnt into the phone. Normal users will see a phone number change. Network providers and SIGINT agencies will track IMEI as well as number. If one IMEI then makes calls to two separate groups using two different mobile numbers/SIM cards, that will link the two groups irrespective of the SIM/number used. Basically if you are trying to keep your girlfriend and wife apart then fine, but if you are hoping to avoid national law enforcement agencies by swapping SIMs in the same phone, forget it.
Actually, IMEI tracking is less reliable on older/cheaper phones. The infrastructre of the telecom carriers are very rudimentary and take time to update the IMEI when a new SIM is put in. Even for a brand new phone, the back-end takes at least 24 hours to update the IMEI that the SIM card is associated with. On older phones, it's not uncommon for the IMEI to be completely missed and not updated at all. Source: I'm and MDM administrator with the job of tracking mobile devices across a VPN for a medical company. My biggest gripe with Verizon is how shoddy the tracking can be.
Dual SIM phones often, if not always, have two IMEI numbers due to them having two radios. Might be useful if you want one phone but need two identities, but that being said, I'm sure there's a way to still link the two and you'd be better off with two cheap dumbphones than a dual SIM smartphone.

I’ve actually had a messy little I incident with superglue where I got some on my thumb and a couple fingers. During that period of a couple hours where I had superglue on by hands, I notice my fingers felt plastic-y and smooth, as well as not leaving the usual fingerprint-shaped smudges on my phone screen. I assume if you did it right you could basically stop yourself from leaving fingerprints on surfaces with the superglue. Just food for thought.
Actually a trick used in the early cold war. Super Glue is formulated for use with skin hence why it dries so quickly on your skin. It was used as a rudimentary fingerprint remover in worst case situations.
One thing I'd definitely add to the Altoids tin is some kind of cordage. Paracord, Heavy gauge fishing wire, cordage is great to have. Rather than a regular SD card I would go with a Micro SD with an adapter, you could use it in a phone or as a regular SD card (more bang for your space). But you get extra credit for the Thermite tube, that is just BADASS.....
@@ScribeSapient true but this is for every day carry if you want to light a candle or cigarette you aren't going to do it with a friction method or ferro rod right?
@@sfehlbaum there's a small fire kit attached to the sheath of my EDC knife. Having fire is always #1.. That said thats a magnesium job and would come to play IF i could not get home. I am not a smoker so no concerns there. As to candles that would imply having found shelter with some supplies and where there are candles there tends to be matches or a lighter, especially down here in Hurricane Country. Like i have mentioned before a serious storm on the way really is like a training run for total collapse, a week before projected landfall people lose thier minds the shelves are empty at the grocery and you will be lucky to find fuel even a few days into that week. 2nd half of the week the tensions rise high, 20yrs ago when i first moved here i saw 2 guys nearly kill one another over bottled water. Since then my EDC has taken a change to what it is now. I carry medical gear on my belt even as i have seen a good number of FEMA level emergency situations and that has geared me to having an emergency mindset with my EDC. Just has i carry a full medkit in my car, just in case i say roll up on a nasty car accident and the locals have not yet arrived (i was an EMT myself for years). I just find the most practical bases to cover with weight and space considered to be Defense, Medical, and Utility. Cover those and you can always get home..
The only thing I would add is a few bank notes folded up in a little plastic bag. Cash is always useful. If you wanted to carry a bit more value and still be untraceable you could always put in a gift card, bought with cash, for somewhere generic and widespread like Walmart. You could get supplies without carrying a massive wad of cash around and not use a traceable bank card. great video as always
downside of gift cards is that they expire after a year or two, but as you said, with notes, if you fold it up neatly you could store a pretty decent amount of money compactly
Alcoholic hand gel has to have a high ethanol content to be effective (obviously 100% being perfect) as some sanitisers can be as low as 60% and even have moisturisers in them, seriously dampening their pyro capabilities... 8-[ I'd definitely second the jute twine and have used that in so many different ways before. Waxing it, wrapping it around a small pencil and drying is a good storage method and a small amount can be sliced off as a wick for whatever 'fire and boom boom' purpose it's needed for!
Doesn't matter. In most states possession is not a crime unless you demonstrate intent. If you're caught using it and the car isn't yours, you're screwed. Otherwise, things aren't crimes. Actions can't be. Stay safe and stay legal.

"the burner phone I use every year" Also if you're in a situation in which you need to change sim, the people tracking you on the towers will indubitably check your mac address as well.
At least two states in the US have laws specifically listing "ninja rocks" as burglary tools; you should make some mention or disclaimer of that before your viewers start getting arrested.
Pretty sure that if the police have cause not just to search you, but to unroll any duct tape you carry... You've already screwed up big time. And even then, unless they see you using it for burglary, it'd be tough to convince a jury that they knew you meant to use the couple pieces of broken porcelain for theft
You could have saved room in the larger bag by omitting the multi tool case and swapping the lock pick kit for the smaller one, which may provide enough space to add some of the unique tools from the smaller kit to the larger one. Also, you can find small ‘travel cords’ which take up less room. All in all, I give you a B+
So...are these guys fakes? What I mean by that is just some actors putting on a show? I'd never seen the show before that, so pardon me if I miss the "bit."
They're not supposed to be survival kits, they never call them that, unless I missed it. They are Everyday Carry kits which encompass more than just survival.
Master Max no, they’re not. They’re perfectly entitled to that opinion but that’s not what my comment was meant to address. I’m not saying they aren’t bad. You’re not even disagreeing with my comment. I’m getting annoyed at people specifically saying that they’re impractical for survival when survival isn’t mentioned in the video as far as I remember.
@@Mad_Alyx these are actually very useful. Maybe not from an everyday perspective but from a tactical and data perspective they would have many use cases. Wtf 😅 But seriously, I have seen some EDCs with guns in them. Is this normal in the US? Or are those just some weapon obsessed guys? Here in Germany you are not supposed to carry any weapon out in the streets.
A knife is probably on the multitool and fishing line/hooks is kinda more survival related than EDC related. EDIT: Although they did have thermite and stockings which is definitely not typically EDC xD
To add to Jason's smaller box, you can probably substitute the SD card for a microSD card and the SDcard adapter. That way, you have something to use with phones as well as sticking them in a laptop.
Hey guys, remember when you hit 1 million subscribers with this video?!? Just a short 7 months later, you are at 1.2 million! Keep rocking it. You are all awesome.
1. Lighter 2. At least one bandage 3. first-aid plasters 4. Antiseptic (cleaning wounds) 5. Multitool 6. Rubber gloves + mouth-to-mouth mask for CPR 7. Flashlight 8. Small pack of wet wipes (cleaning wounds / butt) 9. Painkillers (containing paracetamol and ibuprofen) 10. Paracord Those are the things I would consider as EDC. Dice? Car opening tool? If you have to break into a car, just break the window. Lock picks? Are you getting ready for a sudden society collapse or just an every day life scenarios? This looks like EDC that a kid would make.
My biggest judge for Jason on his full size EDC is that multitool. Not a bad pick but for something like this I am a strong believer in carrying the best, buy a gerber or a leatherman. They seem overkill at first but legitimately you CANNOT go wrong with them for their durability and usefulness.
TL;DR: These are good starts, but if I were making it, I would add some stuff I love Altoids tins for smaller kits. My mom has a first aid kit made out of one, and my old scout leader kept a fire starting kit in one. Molle puches are fantastic. they come in various sizes for various needs. Outstanding choice there. I would have some bandages and antibiotic ointment, maybe some other first aid stuff (I know Brian mentioned it at the end, but I just wanted to say it.) A trick I learned in boy scouts was using pill bottles to make water-resistant kits (you could glue a thin sheet of rubber to the cap's underside to make it more water tight). I had three bottles; one each for first-aid, fire starting, and general emergency preparedness. Put the least used stuff at the bottom and the most used stuff at the top, if you can. as a plus, you can wrap duck tape around the outside to have a good bit on hand. Little baggies with a couple doses of meds in them (pain killers, 'scrip's you can't go w/o, tums, etc.) would not go amiss. Multi-tools are good all around, but sometimes having a folding or sheath knife is better. For me, I use a Buck 110 with a plastic handle. It's cheaper and lighter than the regular 110, but probably not as robust. I mostly use it for breaking down boxes and such. I believe it's a $20 exclusive at Walmart. On that note, a razor blade (or a few) would be very handy in either kit. Put some tape over the edge to avoid it cutting things in your kit. Even a low profile box cutter like a Screwpop or one of those cheap, dime a dozen folded sheet steel ones would make using them easier. Folding travel scissors would be a good add for more delicate cutting. A sewing kit might not be a bad idea either. You can buy travel sized repair kits at Walmart. They have a few needles and a few tiny spools of thread. I had a rip in my suit pants just before my cousin's wedding and that little spool of thread saved my bacon. If I think of anything else, I'll add it. More people need to be prepared for emergencies, and EDC kits like these can be life savers.
I give Jason's EDC kit an 80%; some parts weren't used to their full extent, BUT, the other thing is just how creative can you get with what's in it. That's what a rogue does best. Improvise, and be resourceful. There's no substitute for building your own EDC kit, because only you know what you use daily. That altoids kit is so small, and full of great stuff, you can literally pack several of them to leave in places you'll go to in an emergency. Car, house, coats/jackets, trailer, cottage, boat, in your bug out bags ('cause you should have more than one in various locations too), fake rocks in the garden. Alter as needed. "A sudden surge in Altoid sales sweeps the world.."
Altoid tin: - Condom. Unlubricated. (Two immediately obvious possible 'emergency' uses...). - Razor blade, (or scapel blade if you are really strapped for space). - Sewing needle (magnetised). - A couple of meters of kevlar thread (or as much more as you have room for). - Button compass. - A couple of water purification tabs to chuck inside the condom during the second obvious emergency use. - Wrap the seal of the tin with a couple of feet of electrical tape. This makes the tin waterproof, stops it coming open in your pocket, and gives you a couple of feet of electrical tape.

I love how you guys add money conversions, I always wonder how much something would cost in nzd if I was ever looking to buy something, and you just conveniently chuck it on screen!
Jason: Now let's go put it to use *Puts stocking over face and rolls a d20 *Rolls a 1... Jason: You know... on second thought let's not and say we did.
Another use for the hot glue blob: if you break off a key or a pick inside a lock and can't get it out, blob glue in there and attempt to remove the broken piece. It's a hit or miss technique but in a pinch it's better than nothing.
lowkey reminds me of my pencil case in high school, I had some weird stuff in there lol. Also altoid tins can fit a lot more stuff than you'd expect, I remember using one as a wallet and holder of earphones, spare hairband, and a few random trinkets for like a year.
I used to have an altoids tin first aid kit (working as a life guard at a boy scout summer camp) used it probably three or four times and then forgot to restock it but man it came in handy that summer legit just had it in my pocket like I would if I had altoids and thinking about it now I really should make another one
Pencils and markers are always great to have on you for emergencies. I like the carpenters pencils more. They're easy to sharpen with a knife and normally have a bubble level and a magnet in the end of them. And while I like matches for their ease of use I'd swap out the normal ones for some storm matches and throw in a tiny ferro rod as well.
British forces on survival training load up an old tobacco tin - the inside of the lid can be used as a heliograph signal mirror, the body of the tin can be used as a (small) cooking pot. A scalpel blade (or as one other viewer has suggested - a razor blade), small fishing hooks, fishing line on a bobbin, a tallow candle, flint & steel (the sheared off end of a flat needle file is best), an unlubricated condom - to carry water in, a teabag and lots of other goodies...
I would consider the following: 5 feet of kevlar cordage, a ceramic razor blade, substitute a low profile usb key in place of the sd card, and a padlock bypass tool that has been cut down (like a micro version of the peterson knife tool)
I guess it matters a lot of what you EDC for. For me, it's just for getting through a (work)day most of the time. Stuck in traffic, working late, my XYZ broke. Quick repairs for body and basic stuff. 2 aspirin and 2 ibuprofen. Out of all the EDC stuff I have carried over the years this is the number 1 most used item. Clearing a headache, suppressing a starting fever or helping out that female coworker with her monthly visit. This and a basic band-aid will actually cover 80% of first aid kit needs. Water... yes, water. I don't leave a building without topping up my water bottle, and I tend to take a few swigs while doing so to keep myself hydrated. I got stuck in traffic for 3,5 hours once. You will be extremely happy to have ANY water. Also a bigger item but again if your body is failing this could get you back up and running. A snack. Something like a granola bar for your backpack or if you're going pocket / mint tin style just a single sachet of sugar. Get that little boost of energy. Very fine braided fishing line with a hook. From fishing car keys out of a storm drain to fishing small fish from a pond or even just pulling the old flying dollar bill trick... it will do a lot. Needle and thread. Attach something to something else... like your covert ops listening device to a lampshade... or one side of the crotch of your pants to the other... or skin to skin. Not the MOST useful item, but still a good one that takes virtually no space or weight. A gentlemens knife. Dunno what one would call it, but just a tiny pocket knife with a blade no longer than your finger (put away in a bag inside a bag to prevent accusations of having a weapon handy). Cut your apple, clean a string off your shirt, getting a stuck thing un-stuck, shimming a door. I guess a multitool might do most of this, but to me those are usually too clunky anyway with too many useless options. Check your local laws before carrying a "weapon" around, and consider the type of place you will visit and how they might react to even a small knife. Similarly... carrying a slim jim is going to put you in more trouble than you want compared to the benefit of it in most cases. One of the most rogue-ish things to do is make sure nobody can identify you as a rogue. Carrying a slim jim in a tacticool pack is a pretty sus move in that regard.
I feel like you're missing the real power of the SD card. Sure, you could use it for bitcoin, but cash is easy enough to carry, at least in quantities that your everyday gray man can set aside. Sure, you could put malware on it, but it's hard to fathom a scenario in which that would be needed in a pinch. The real power is storage of information. There are hundreds of millions of books out there. Most wouldn't be super useful in a pinch. But many would. The SAS Survival Guide, The Foxfire Books, The Anarchist's Cookbook, hunting guides, trap-making guides, simple chemistry books, instructions on improvised firearms, etc. You could even jam some 3d printer plans on there. Note: use a MicroSD card in an SD Card adapter. It'll work fine in a computer, but in a real pinch, you can put the MicroSD into the burner phone to access the data. Also, keep the burner phone in a faraday bag. A burner phone is only as good as it's anonymity. And a faraday bag SHOULD protect the phone from a mild EMP. It won't have network access, but it can still read the Micro SD card.
AND carry a universal adapter for USB, MicroUSB, Lightning, etc that lets you plug in an SD card. So you can plug that memory into ANYTHING. Keep your memory shielded as well. If someone hasn't already, somebody really should compile a list of books that we should make sure survives an apocalypse. While you focused mostly on things necessary for survival, it should include math, history, art, music, philosophy, science, medicine, etc.
Here's my EDC kit: Buck 110 (or some other folding knife that you can do some work with. Victorinox Swiss Army Super Tinker A few yards of thread, sewing thread for instance, or stronger multi-filament or nylon thread. Small flashlight with good battery capacity, or a headlight USB stick or SD card Electrical tape, this is such an underestimated substitute for ductape. A stick of melting glue A small pouch with a few sewing needles, razor blade, guitar pick, and other tiny nicnacs. Not the perfect one, but is good enough for both outdoors hiking and more urban stuff, but tbh me in an urban environment is like MacGyver crossbreed with Crocodile Dundee. Outdoor wilderness FTW!
May want to specify knife so you are not sawing away with a made for wallet miulti-tool or a razor blade sacrificing all situational awareness, plus lockpicks are not going to be as useful as a well placed kick if you gotta get through a door and the handle of a decent knife is going to shatter most glass if for some reason you find yourself needing to in order to secure food water or other supplies. EDC is more of an emergency based thing than a what you happen to carry in your pockets when going most place for convenience sake. Defense is not covered, medical is not covered, utility is not really covered though at least somewhat addressed. None of this stuff would help you out one bit getting home after bad storm or any other frequently occurring bad event, or would any of this protect you in a defensive situation which hey they threw up all the currency conversions, worse the economy gets the more important that defense and medical gets. IMEI Number. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Mobile_Equipment_Identity
Erik is quite correct.
☝️The two most underrated comments, right here.
That's why you keep about 6 different cheap flip phones and toss them or fry them with an emp

I assume if you did it right you could basically stop yourself from leaving fingerprints on surfaces with the superglue.
Just food for thought.

One thing I'd definitely add to the Altoids tin is some kind of cordage. Paracord, Heavy gauge fishing wire, cordage is great to have.

Yeah, more of a toolkit than a survival kit...
They're not supposed to be survival kits, they never call them that, unless I missed it. They are Everyday Carry kits which encompass more than just survival.
No I’m pretty sure everyone is complaining about that fact that these “EDC kits” are hilariously bad.
Master Max no, they’re not. They’re perfectly entitled to that opinion but that’s not what my comment was meant to address. I’m not saying they aren’t bad. Some things I might add is razor blades, fishing hooks and a bit of fishing line
Just a thought, the SD card could be replaced with a microSD card with an adapter to full sized SD so it works with both formats.

My biggest judge for Jason on his full size EDC is that multitool. Not a bad pick but for something like this I am a strong believer in carrying the best, buy a gerber or a leatherman. They seem overkill at first but legitimately you CANNOT go wrong with them for their durability and usefulness.
that "lucky D20" he pulled out of the bag is a D12.... that makes it a very unlucky D20
Next episode you guys should do: How to go off the grid
TL;DR: These are good starts, but if I were making it, I would add some stuff
I love Altoids tins for smaller kits. My mom has a first aid kit made out of one, and my old scout leader kept a fire starting kit in one.
Molle puches are fantastic. they come in various sizes for various needs. Outstanding choice there.
I would have some bandages and antibiotic ointment, maybe some other first aid stuff (I know Brian mentioned it at the end, but I just wanted to say it.)
A trick I learned in boy scouts was using pill bottles to make water-resistant kits (you could glue a thin sheet of rubber to the cap's underside to make it more water tight).
Altoid tin:
- Condom.
That was a D12. Wasn’t paying attention.

British forces on survival training load up an old tobacco tin - the inside of the lid can be used as a heliograph signal mirror, the body of the tin can be used as a (small) cooking pot.

What that guy said
Brian in the Privacy ad looks like he wants to speak to your manager.
Nice dude
AND carry a universal adapter for USB, MicroUSB, Lightning, etc that lets you plug in an SD card. So you can plug that memory into ANYTHING. Keep your memory shielded as well. If someone hasn't already, somebody really should compile a list of books that we should make sure survives an apocalypse. While you focused mostly on things necessary for survival, it should include math, history, art, music, philosophy, science, medicine, etc.

The only thing I can think of is a blade. They're useful for everything
Plus i have seen how after a few weeks without electricity even money is all but useless as you cannot eat it or drink it so nobody cares about it when they got no food or water and FEMA like always is either late or forgot to show up at all
I would ad a knife, some sort of paracord and a water filtration system.
Nobody really says this but I REALLY appreciate the price conversions to all these currencies
You guys really make the experience of watching your videos special ❤️
