    I got around 600 miles in my Hyperion Tempo's (on $ale) and I used them for my everyday running shoes since I couldn't exactly afford to get two or three different running shoes for my training. Overall, fantastic shoe.

    Love the Hyperion. Light, fast, with outsole rubber. (Hoka says, Durability is over-rated and decreases repeat purchases.) Also has my favorite lacing system of any shoe I’ve ever had; so smooth.

    I've got the Hyperion tempo. Lightweight, comfortable, super ventilated (which you really notice in the Norwegian winter) really nice to run in. I just prefer a lower drop. The Hyperion is one of the best looking shoes I have seen too. Only slight negative is the laces, they are just weird.

    • @jacobraichel2476

      I was thinking about buying them, do you think they're worth the higher price?

    • @ianmoore3785
      @ianmoore3785 3 роки тому

      @@jacobraichel2476 I think the Saucony Endorphin Speed is a lot better, but I do like the Hyperion Elite and feel that if I worked better with an 8mm drop then I would have used them more. They are extremely light and feel very responsive when I run, they do feel a little unstable at slow speeds, very slow speeds. They are also showing no signs of usage despite about 200km in them on a mix of surfaces, I wouldn't be afraid to run light trails in them either. For the price I don't know vs the Hoka, vs the Saucony Speed I'd spend the extra on them vs the Hyperion.

      Purchased a pair of brooks recently and have had no problems with the laces. It’s strange because many have complained about them...what do you find the issue is?

    • @ianmoore3785
      @ianmoore3785 3 роки тому +1

      @@All3cannons I find they are a bit inconsistent when it comes to the lockdown in the shoe. I know I'm doing something wrong, but it seems the elastic takes up the strain and then releases in increments when running sometimes, leading to some easing of the lockdown. I just like laces to be fit and forget. Obviously I know you can change them, but the review was of the shoe as sold, and the last thing I want to do after buying shoes is change the laces :D

    I love the Hyperion Tempo. I have run in them 1,005 km, and counting. I used them as a daily trainer, long runs, tempo and intervals runs and they are great. they are, indeed, the shoes o the year, to me. btw, I prefer them over the Hyperion Elite 2.

    I bought the Hyperion Tempos at the end of 2020 and recently ran a 5K race in them. Conditions here in Salt Lake City were cold and there were some slick spots--but the shoes were impressively grippy, just as you suggest. As a result, I ran a pretty impressive (for me) 24:00 5K and took third in my old feller division. I love the shoes.

    Never owned any HOKA, but I'm a recent convert to Brooks, with the Hyperion Tempo being my very first Brooks shoe...and I LOVE IT. So much so that I bought another pair, as is per my usual when I find something I really like. It's a really great formula that Brooks has with this shoe, and I sincerely hope they don't change much of the substance with this in the future. Small, incremental changes and keeping the weight about where it is would be ideal.

    QD: As marathon is still quite out of the question for me in my part of the world, I would be dropping my running days from 5 days per week to 4. Firstly, at 45 y.o., I can feel the body taking longer to recover. Secondly, a reduced running load will allow me to build on speed so that when marathon season is finally back, I can resume my training load with hopefully a new pace.
    Suggestion for the next head-to-head, Mach 4 vs Rebel 2. The latter has been getting positive reviews online.
    Have a great day!

    100% agree about the Hyperion! I think it was the most underrated shoe last year because of its price but it's SO SO good - it's super light, fast and fits like a glove. If the Mach 4 can beat it, it will make for another great option.

    It's a bit weird, but Seth, I remember you placing the Hyperion tempo in the 'Soft landing' category, and you still refer to its midsole as soft. I recently purchased the tempos. I've done only one run in them, took it to my tempo pace. It has a very , very firm landing! I bought the endorphin speed too, and yes it has a nice and soft midsole material, but not the tempos. I walk in them a bit too, they are firm!
    So I took to youtube and searched for more HP reviews and I found a few runners stating the same thing, that it has a firm landing. So firm that running at easy pace in them is very unpleasant. But I do love them! They are very very snappy at tempo pace and very responsive, alive. And so quick on cadence! woah!
    I have a 10k road hill race coming up in 2 weeks, and I cant decide if I want to use the tempos for the race or the endorphin speeds! I know I would enjoy running uphill fast in the tempos because they are lighter than the speeds. But I've heard the nylon plate in the speeds make them faster!
    In another tempo review I did hear that the tempos are weather sensitive, So MAYBE because bought them in just now, in February the midsole might have stiffened up and might get softer as teh weather warms up and I run a bit more in them. They might need a break in period?
    Anyhoo, I do love the Tempos!! Anybody who did read my loooooong comment, Will you please suggest which shoe out of the endorphins speeds and Hyperion Tempos I should use for my upcoming 10k Road Hill race!?? Anyone?? Thank you! :) and Thank you, Seth!

    Hyperion Tempo has new colorways for spring 2021. So definitely the model is staying. Brooks typically hasn't been bringing out new models of their faster shoes very often. Hyperion Elite was an exception because the v1 was a flop. I think that the differences in list prices aren't very important when you talk about 20 or 30 bucks. It depends on how one feels in store. The customer will choose the shoe that he likes the most. It becomes a different ball game if one of the shoes is in sale. So then comparing a shoe that costs 99 to a shoe that costs 149 feels very different - especially when one thinks that the 99 shoe has a special deal. Then it requires much more convincing to go for that more expensive option but in general, if the shoe is better, i.e. the customer likes it more, then a little bit higher price is not an issue.
    QD: If I had a spare room, I would get a treadmill. Covid restrictions change all the time.

    I am running in the HyperionTempo as I’m listening to this vlog! It’s once of my favorite shoes ever. I prefer the more subtle heel flare of the Brooks. The exaggerated flare just adds extra weight and could actually hit the Achilles’ tendons on steep downhills. All one needs is 1/2”-1” max of flare. The Brooks is maybe 1/2”. Martha PS I also don’t get and don’t like the extended rear midsole on all these Hoka shoes. Again, extra weight, and why?

    i like my hyperion shoes, don't love them. I guess that the energy return should be a little better. My thing i would change about marathon training. I would like to include strides. I was told it is paramount to improve your training.

    If it wasn’t for the Endorphin Speed I think the Hyperion Tempo would have been shoe of the year. I love it maybe even more than my speeds. (I typed this before you basically said the same thing).

    Hey Seth, I know u are busy with a lot of shoes to review and Vlogs to do but if you ever have time to check out the Nike Pegasus 37 Premium, it’s definitely worth a look. It’s pretty much a throwback to the old Pegasus and in my opinion has great lock down since it has a padded tongue. Butter that bread!

    Is the Hyperion Tempo like the New Balance Beacon v 2 that I did not like due to underfoot cushion and no stability at all?

    I have a white pair of the Hyperion Tempo and I found the tongue to be a little cheap. How about the black version?

      I’m sure they’re constructed exactly the same. But I have the OG black colorway and it looks and feels high quality to me. It’s holding up beautifully. The tongue is thin to save weight, like the rest of the upper. But I find it extremely comfortable. Martha

    Do you think the Mach 4 would hold up well on dirt and/or finely crushed stone buffed trails (I know its more of a road shoe)???

    I have the Hyperion Tempo and its career is over. I probably have over 500 in it, and its probably the fastest I've ever gone through a pair of shoes. I used it as a daily trainer and it demolished track workouts. Before I knew it, I started getting ankle pain and it became less responsive. Other than that, I'd recommend the shoe other than the price tag

    I haven't bought the Brooks Hyperion Tempo yet, but got myself the Brooks Catamount. If you had to decide, would you buy the hyperion tempo or the mach4 as your next tempo/threshold pace shoe
