Same here. I have dozens of premium trainers from different brands and the original Glideride is my favorite. I'll be very sorry if Asics indeed screwed up them with the Glideride 2.

years ago (ok many years ago 😂) I was out running on a remote country road very early morning. A German Shepard came out the timber and charged viciously (is there any other way). The adrenaline rush was amazing. I thought what would the cave men do. I grab two softball sized rocks , got down on my haunches and screaming and yelling I chased him back into the woods. Had he got close and but me the plan was to use the rocks as clubs - not throw them. Wow! I think I was 21 or 22 at the time and would love to know what my pace was after that. 😂🏃♂️🏃♂️

My favourite story to share is from 2018 when I was just getting into running races and I ran a 7k trail race. When I checked the results on the provided iPad at the end, I was very surprised to see that I placed first in my category (men's over 50). That was my first running award since grade 6 when I won the midget boys track and field trophy! After I got home I checked the full results and found that my only competition was a 70-year-old man who took an hour longer to complete the race than me!😁 I bet he was as surprised to win second place as I was to win first!

Hi there, got the Glideride 2. I thought it will be a good recovery shoe but at slow (jogging) pace it feels like a brick.. Going faster to long run pace it becomes excellent. Stable, comfortable and my legs feel fresh as if I have a day off even after a long run.. Quite amazing. Now I need to find a lighter shoe for jogging /recovery with some stability..
Loved the Glideride v1 and still do. Oddly feels similar to the Zoom Fly 3....not plush, but works for me when Im in it. Hopefully many many more miles to go in it!
QD: as beginner I always share story about my first race at overseas ☺️ it was relatively small meet starting on wide parking line and I was just 10feet behind Kenyan elite group. I really like the original glide ride. I usually run 8:45 to 10 min pace with no issues. I am a mid foot striker and maintain 180 cadence regardless of pace. It seems like pace is less relevant than cadence on how this shoe feels
QD: My experience at a D3 school and I always tie it in with how successful my friends are in the business world. Two of my former teammates are full time, one at PNC and the other at EY (Ernst & Young). I also tell the story of the time my team cracked the regional top 10 for the first time since 2000 and our women's team won the whole region when they were projected (by USTFCCCA) to score like 4th or 5th. The men were projected 12th. Those teams in my time were teams that sacrificed for each other.

I tried the Glideride 2 first because most of the reviews said it was improved over the 1 but I too was feeling the clunkiness so I tried the Glideride 1 and it felt so much softer and more nimble under foot. I know it’s only a little lighter but the 1 felt way lighter for some reason. Maybe it’s a subconscious feeling? So glad I’m not crazy and Seth felt the same 😄 The one is a steal for the price now!
I have both, same size. V2 is 17 g lighter. I like V2 better for 3 reasons: 1) more roomy toebox (rounder, less pointed) 2) just perfect foot lockdown, no need to fiddle with the laces in any way and 3) much better ventilated upper (toebox ceiling and the sides od the midfoot).
QD: Jumping over two porcupine on a 24.6 mile ridge run on the North Fork Mountain Trail in Cabins, West Virginia. I've seen a grizzly bear, I've seen bison, I've stumbled onto full nests of rattlesnakes, and I've seen dozens of black bears. With all those experiences, I can honestly say that nothing came anywhere close to freaking me out as much as those porcupine. Maybe it's because I wasn't expecting it, maybe it's because I was 20ish miles in, maybe it's because porcupine are wayyy bigger than I thought, or maybe it's because jumping them was the dumbest possible thing I could do given the terrain, but also the only thing i could do with that terrain. I still get the shivers thinking back to that one to this day.
Thanks Seth. I was really excited for the Glideride 2....pity they changed it so much from the original. Will buy a few of the Glideride 1's and hope the Glideride 3 is more similar to the 1.
Very honest review, exactly how I feel about the glideride 1. I hated it for the first few runs, so stiff, makes my feet hurt that I almost wanted to retire it during a few painful daily runs. It does start to mellow out for me after 80miles, now I think I start to liking it more and more, will take it to a 10+ mile easy run someday.

So I decided to head out for a midnight run; not advisable but I'm alert enough to run in a straight line. I go out, turn around, and head back; nothing crazy. I have no idea how far I ran... ... until I look at my GPS the next day. I ran 7 miles from the hotel. Which means I ran 7 miles back. 14 total miles. So now I get to tell people about the time I got drunk in middle of nowhere Wisconsin... and ended up running a half marathon at midnight.

I think a nutral shoes has nothing to do if it twists. Nutral means there is no support on the left or right so that your foot is not leaning to eather direction.
QD (biking holiday): So Hawaii main island was so awesome biking that I almost missed my flight because of a bike ride around the Ka'ena Point State Park. The buses were crazy that day because of a holiday. That spelled trouble for my ride back by bus. Some buses have a sort of rack on the front that looks and works a bit like a fork lift, where you place the bike before getting on the bus. So you can ride the bus back to your start location. It was hilarious. I was talking to a local store owner who told me to stand on the right handside of the road to go back to town. The problem was that I got the opposite answer from the store owner on the other side of the street. There was no telling who was right because both were locals who knew their stuff. Buses there changed direction now and then. In my case as I was standing there waiting, both buses showed up at once so I had to pick one. Anyway, I lost the 50 50 gamble and I missed my bus. Timewise I would have lost the flight if I didn't hitch a ride back with a local, from the side of the main road. Basically I started biking frantically to get back on my own. I was in the middle of nowhere and sweating and filled with desperation. All you could see was the main road and wind turbines on the horizon. Basically there was too no way I could get back on time unless I was a super athlete. The only option left was to hitch a ride. Local fisherman, bless his and his wife's kindness, got me back to O'Ahu in time to catch the flight. In town the store owner could set me up for one later. Lovely lady. But I was too short on time. Kindness of the locals saved the day. I paid back the kindess in kind. I can't stand buses :-)
QOD - probably my go-to running story is when I ran a full marathon in the parking lot of a mall. 🕐 Like the hands on a clock round and round I went. Working on that mental toughness 💪🏻 Hope everyone has a fantastic day! Cheers!
Seth all your shoe reviews are great, but have you ever considered doing reviews on insoles? running shoe companies supply their shoes all with generic, unsupportive insoles and to get the best possible ride having the proper support with an insole is optimal, wouldn't you agree? (this is coming from a former 2:25 marathoner, Nike employee, running specialty store manager and SJD channel fan!)
when i heard that kipchoge’s sub2 attempt will be in vienna, i already knew i couldn’t go for the actual event but still wanted to feel part of it somehow. i was able to work out a short trip to vienna (from sweden) on july and ran the same “course”.
it seems that it is better to buy the 1st version with lower prices than this new one... I ran almost 700km in Glideride 1, really loved it (it is still in very good conditions)

QD: My go to story related to running would be about the day I realised I love running and how it all started, basically the story of elementary school sport outsider being terrible in all team sports and suddenly nailing it in the running area, which was so uncommon back in the time and place. Yep, the story of how it all started and how did it feel.
QD: when I was college and we went out for an 8 mile run, I got way ahead and took a wrong turn but didn’t know it and ended up running an 18 mile loop 🤦🏻♂️. My longest run to date and by mistake haha
My go to story is I was 1/4 mile from my home at the end of a 5 mile run around 6 a.m., when this truck pulls up along side me and the guys start yelling "OMG !! You should have seen the size of the bear that just crossed the road behind you !" Of course I'm thinking the guys a creep. But that evening when I had to go out, the biggest bear I've ever seen was out in our yard destroying an old stump.
First thing that comes to mind for me is being on the SE ridge of Mount Elbert near South Elbert peak and a marmot ran right up to me and started trying to naw through my gaiter. Had to move quickly to get away from it. Must of thought if it could get me I would be a couple months worth of food 🤣
QOD: One time on a trail run with my co-captain of our HS Xc team, I ran into a tree branch and cut head open, then proceeded to fall off a dam only to catch myself on the railing at the last split second.
My running story, I was running in Tampa, sun was setting, and I wanted to run a bit longer, so instead of turning around, I turned down a street to make it a loop, but I wasn't familiar enough with the streets. So I turn down this road, and this car screeches a turn, pulls into this parking lot next to where I'm running, and a girl gets out butt naked flaunting herself to me. I try to ignore it, keep running, but I get to the end of the street and it dead ends into a cow pasture. I turn around and the car is right there. My headphones were playing that song if your going through hell and I started booking it. All my buddies when I told them said I shoulda talked to her but I know that's how you die in the movies.
I have the original glide ride. It feels like a fast shoe due to the rocker, but every run feels like a struggle. Too heavy under foot. I get fatigued easy in this shoe. I prefer my Hoka's
GlideRide 2 has a very noticeable upturn at the forefoot/toes, which I guess contributes to the 'snappy' aspect? I can see how this might make you feel tipped forward as if pushing off in a wooden shoe. Should the forefoot curl be part of your analysis?
Too bad that the Glideride 2 didn’t hit the same as the original. In Seth’s 150mi review of the Glideride 1, he predicted that the next iteration would strip down on the upper and heel counter, but seems like Asics went the opposite way and beefed it up. Lord knows I don’t need another pair of running shoes right now, but the original Glideride are looking real tempting at $99
Hi, I've been wearing Kayano 19 and now Kayano 26 for my runs. Recently I have improved my distance and speed, but I start to feel my feet are heavy, probably due to the heavy Kayano, although they provide really good stability and great comfort. I'm looking to upgrade to lighter-weight shoes now, I'm having a dilemma choosing between Kayano Lite or this GlideRide 2, what do you think? which shoes you recommends? Hope to hear your professional advice. I'm a beginner runner, running at a pace of around 5.45 minutes per kilometer and almost 10KM per run.
Glideride 1 was my first Asics shoe in 10+ years. Disappointed the newer version isn't an improvement / more like the original. I thought sequels are always supposed to be better!? haha. Just ordered the Mach 4 and still loving the Endurance Speed.
Nice review! I have the GT 2000 7 about 2,5 years now. I am more a gym runner but at the quarantine break i started running outside. The feeling was different of course but the shoe felt better on the road. Now i am about to get this one because the GT wont last for too long (i guess you know about the relationship asics have with holes). I guess its a good step up but what do you think also?
I pronate moderately and run in stability shoes like the NB 860 and Brooks Bedlam. You mentioned this shoe has a bit of stability, do you think it’d be worth a shot? Neutral shoes like the NB 1080 and Adidas Solarglide make the medial side of my knees hurt
Seth,How does it compare to the Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next %? This is my favourite training shoe due to it's bounce and cushioning but it's not a "squidgy soft" shoe. I want something that compresses nicely to protect your joints but is not mushy soft. A comparable shoe? If not - what's the closest feel to the Air Zoom in another brand?
It sounds like the shoe was designed to last longer then other running shoes. Asics better than Nike! QOD: The other day in my new pair of bright orange Hoka trail shoe up along Mount Sanidas.
I got osteomyelitis, and are currently using the Hoka Carbon X spe for intervalls. Hoka Rincon for the 5km moderate and fast tempo days. And trying the wave rider from Mizuno. trail shoe: Scott Supertrac RC. The question: any tips for those 10-15km days, since i got osteomyelitis i need something soft, but also want the feeling of responsivnes. Thanks in advance!
Love your videos! Just the best. I'm in a bit of a doubt here. How do I choose between the glideride 2 and the novablast 2? I'm about 71kg, good shape and want something to start longer runs over 20 km Any tips?
The two shoes are completely different, so there's no choice between them. Novablast for heel strikers (just like Cumulus and Nimbus), whreas the (much) lower drop of the Glideride makes it more suitable for mid-/forefoot strikers. I love my GlideRides 2, better than V1 (never been an Asics fan).
One thing ive learned with watching shoe reviews is you have to consider who the shoe is made for and what its made to do. Also if your athlete buying the wrong shoe really stinks.
Seth (if you see this and have time to respond), I have also noticed that I don't have to break in shoes the way I used to. What do you think has changed that - is it the result of new foam technologies with a good balance of both flexibility and strength?

@saddleback It was a trail run near a major city. Someones Pit Bull “escaped” their kennel the authorities identified later. I turn the corner on the trail and there is this dog standing in the middle of the path. I attempted to calm him, but no dice. He grabbed my thigh and started tearing. Thankfully another runner came around the corner and he got spooked, let go and ran off. I suppose I got off lucky, as i only needed a couple sets of six stitches. I run with pepper spray now.... Also, I’m not blaming the dog or the breed, I love dogs and have two large breed 😀 (irresponsible owner to blame). I do often wonder how people run trails in areas with cougars and bears! Haha.
Just putting a question out there to you all, i'm looking for a daily trainer that is neutral, high stack height, bouncy (though i find my Novablasts a bit unstable) ideally 4-6mm drop, everything tells me that would be the Hoka One One Mach 4 am I missing any others?

I think you're just too light for these highstack shoes and that's why you need so much breaking in time
man look like he weighs 80 lbs you're probably right lol but still love the content
Mornin!
Good morning! LOL. Cool coincidence. I had planned on running in my Gliderides today. Great shoe. I'd buy another pair when current gets to 600ish.
QOD - probably my go-to running story is when I ran a full marathon in the parking lot of a mall. 🕐 Like the hands on a clock round and round I went. Working on that mental toughness 💪🏻 Hope everyone has a fantastic day! Cheers!
my comeback in the 2020 winter track season
Seth where is your shirt from its awesome!
I wish someone would see me running and give me pointers!! Next time you should! He'd probably have appreciated the insight.
it seems that it is better to buy the 1st version with lower prices than this new one...
Yep, the story of how it all started and how did it feel.
. I got to run side by side with Apollo Ohno for 5 miles of the Ironman in Kona 2014.
QD: when I was college and we went out for an 8 mile run, I got way ahead and took a wrong turn but didn’t know it and ended up running an 18 mile loop 🤦🏻♂️. My longest run to date and by mistake haha
I just waiting for Asics Evo 2 vlog 🙏❤🏃♂️😉
My Glideride 1 just got stolen :( I loved them, now I'm wondering which version I should get..
My feet hurt in the glideride. I absolutely can feel the plate there
My running story, I was running in Tampa, sun was setting, and I wanted to run a bit longer, so instead of turning around, I turned down a street to make it a loop, but I wasn't familiar enough with the streets.
Glideride 1 was my favourite shoe, was looking forward to the GlideRide 2. I think i'll pass.... Get a 3rd pair of GR 1 !!
Will you be getting the Salomon Pulsar soon? Looks crazy light! Might be a new favourite for trail racing
Still running in my v1. The mileage is at 700km and i think it could go more than 1000km
I only got 300 miles or so out of my glideride 1.😔
Glideride 1 was my first Asics shoe in 10+ years. Disappointed the newer version isn't an improvement / more like the original. I thought sequels are always supposed to be better!? haha. Just ordered the Mach 4 and still loving the Endurance Speed.
i'm contemplating between the mach 4 / endorphin speed. lemme know how it goes ! once you've put in miles on your mach 4 ☺️
What's that funky shoelace knot trick you've got going on?
Seth,How does it compare to the Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next %? This is my favourite training shoe due to it's bounce and cushioning but it's not a "squidgy soft" shoe. I want something that compresses nicely to protect your joints but is not mushy soft. A comparable shoe? If not - what's the closest feel to the Air Zoom in another brand?
Is it just flyt foam? I think the original was flyt foam and flyt foam propel. Does it have gel in it?
It sounds like the shoe was designed to last longer then other running shoes. Asics better than Nike! QOD: The other day in my new pair of bright orange Hoka trail shoe up along Mount Sanidas.
Good shoe for a heavier underpronator.
I'm about 71kg, good shape and want something to start longer runs over 20 km
Any tips?
The two shoes are completely different, so there's no choice between them. Novablast for heel strikers (just like Cumulus and Nimbus), whreas the (much) lower drop of the Glideride makes it more suitable for mid-/forefoot strikers. I love my GlideRides 2, better than V1 (never been an Asics fan).
Can you mention names of some comfy shoes with similar comfort like the Novablast? Hopefully some cheaper ones.
One thing ive learned with watching shoe reviews is you have to consider who the shoe is made for and what its made to do. Also if your athlete buying the wrong shoe really stinks.
Hey Seth, curious to know your thoughts on Newton running shoes? You may have addressed this in earlier VLOGS/review, but I've not come across it?
QD: The time is saw a huge dog up in the distance, but it turned out to be a bear! :)
Can you midfoot and forefront strike with the Gliderides or does it force you to heal strike?
Is running ware house deliver shoes to India??
QD: my experience of Boston 2013.
:butter: Happy Mach 4 day!!! ...oh sorry it's March 4th.
Got your hands on the new Nike Wildhorse yet?
I think this shoe is better for heavy runners.
How do these compare to the endorphin shift?
Seth or anyone: looking for a zero (or minimal drop) shoe that can do both trail and road. Prefer less cushion (not Hoka). Recommendations?!
Seth (if you see this and have time to respond), I have also noticed that I don't have to break in shoes the way I used to. What do you think has changed that - is it the result of new foam technologies with a good balance of both flexibility and strength?
As a bigger heavier runner 100kg+ but happily runs 21kms and 42kms runs. I find I appreciate the robustness because I destroy lighter plusher shoes.
Hi, so you think this shoes could be good for halfmarathon ?
Love the shirt 👚
I ran 1000+ kms on the glideride 1 and the midsole is still workin reallyyyyy fine !!!
And I remember the first weeks the midsole was very hard

Fellow racer slows his pace to do the last 4 miles with me after seeing me in shambles.
I crossed the finish and slept on the ground 400 feet from the finish line.
I learned two things
1: Planning for races is as important as training.
2: If you have your "why" you can get through almost any "how."
Thanks for reading
Runner story: my pitbull attack. I lived to run another day!
Haha.
I had a few of those when I was younger and faster. LOL don't know I could still escape!
I’ve been hearing a lot of great things about the endorphin speed. Is it the best running shoe you’ve ever run in ?
Buy it!
Anyone here got both the Novablast and symmetros? How do you use them? I've just started running and not sure how I should use them. TIA
Novablast can be used for almost anything. I leave mine for tempo days.
Just putting a question out there to you all, i'm looking for a daily trainer that is neutral, high stack height, bouncy (though i find my Novablasts a bit unstable) ideally 4-6mm drop, everything tells me that would be the Hoka One One Mach 4 am I missing any others?
Skechers Razor Excess 👍👍👍
@@caseypetty4721 thanks 🙏
русскоязычные, смотрим?)
Runners World has their Shew Review this issue...just sharing for those non sub. Being (intentionally) elbowed near the finish line but leaning and beating ,,,,,lol her. 10k
Any thoughts about the Metaride anyone?
Twist test doesn't tell whether a shoe is neutral or not. It just tells about torsional rigidity. Some neutral shoes are stiff and some are flexible.
@Chris Abraham yeah. These shoe reviews are nonsense. Waiting for normal vlogs.
QD: The time that I ran 21 miles at 17 years old.
Bring back the old intro!
