I love these shoes and they beckon me whenever I lay eyes on them. Granted, they possess the traits I covet most: light weight, firmer responsive cushion (which yes indeed, has improved over the miles), snug midfoot lockdown, and they just look gorgeous. When a shoe looks like a beautiful little missile (the Boston 8 was another such shoe) they summon my inner rabbit! Martha
They are a winner aren’t they Martha? Such a simple design and I love the blue ice pole midsole! Like a summer treat that only gets better with ever wear! Thanks for watching 🧊 😊👍🏼🏃🏻♂️
OHHHH an increased midsole and an even lighter upper???? Mmmmm that sounds goooood!!!!!! Those words are music to my ears!!! Will be looking forward to that one Edd!
Ohhh not one but TWO Australia references today with our own much loved TAME IMPALA!!! We are such sentimentalists I guess because their debut "Innerspeaker" is still the most loved!! I'm gonna dig it out right now!!!
Glad these shoes worked out for you:) I’ve really enjoyed them! Initially thought I wouldn’t buy them again due to price but as the miles add up I do think they’re worth it.
Hi Edd.Thanks for your honest review. For me this shoe is outstanding. It's really like a different level..Initially I was bit confused with thinner stretchy shoe laces but now I know they're proper match to the upper. You do not experience that tight and "straight jacket" feeling of your upper foot anymore. Perfect ideal fit for the first time in my brooks wearing shoe history;very light yet enough cushioning;responsive midsole.Using for 10k tempo runs but I can imagine even easy long runs with them.I've already improved my PB's 3 times on the same course.I'm very happy with them and definitely buy them again..
Much appreciated follow-up, Edd. Comments on the upload: The black'n'white still is great (placement, tone) The animated looking bits intrigue me (How would an entire upload come across?) All the edits/cut-ins add something to your clips -- It's like watching the ideas floating around in your mind So many comment on your sense of humor -- Yeah, you got something, my friend You are very much a more run-heavy and more raw alternative to Jacques Spade (in my mind) -- Major compliment One of my favorite YT channels by far ✌🏽🖤🏃🏽♂️
I have the Catamount and have noticed at about 70 miles'ish now that the DNA Flash has improved, I enjoy it more and the TrailTack tread has been holding up well. Not the same shoe, I know, but a similar DNA Flash experience.
Great review, I agree about everything but I am only on a bout 60 miles so far. I git mine for £120 with a discount so the value score for me goes up 😄
Sound like we had similar runs today. 7.9 miles at 7:17 pace for me in the Reebok Floatride Run Fast. You were a little bit faster than me, but I wasn't attacked by a flock of seagulls, so that may have been the difference.
Remember watching your initial thoughts and you disliked the midsole. Glad to hear your thoughts have changed. I have about 75km on my pair & im finding the midsole enjoyable. I do agree that at the beginning I did feel like I had to work in the shoe (didn’t have that bounce like a peg turbo 2). Not sure which I prefer out of the two. Grateful to have both in my rotation.
It’s now discounted heaps and it’s still a great shoe for training and you can race in it up to 10k it’s good. Bit more cushion for a half needed though
Hey Ed thx for a great review. For fast turnover hill repeats, fast 400s, fast 800s, etc, would you go with the Tempo, or the Rebel v3, or the Topo Cyclone? Or something else? Cheers Ed
I see where I’ve gone wrong in my training, I’ve been nailing the pizza part, but totally neglecting the seagulls bit! I’ve been using the Ghost series for years and recently started looking for something lighter, I was concerned the Hyperion might not be very durable. If it feels anything like a lighter and more responsive Ghost I’ll be very happy.
Hello Edd - what a concise review - and so spot on. Thanks These were my first lightweight shoe. (Where have I been for so long!) You’re so right about the flash foam changing - somewhere between 4/5miles it feels so comfortable. The laces for me are still a let down - too elastic - but the upper and tongue make up for that to give such a comforting feel. I’m still not convinced that a carbon plate sandwiched between this flash foam in the forthcoming Elite 2 is going to be any better than the NB TC shoe or the Saucony Speed or Pro - but finally Brooks have produced a shoe that is comparable to the competition for some energy return - but it isn’t leading that category!
I picked these up today for tempo/fast intervals but it feels like a firmer puma liberate nitro (which I already have). Not sure it's worth getting these over the liberate, what ya reckon? Thanks I'm really looking for something like the Saucony speed but they don't fit me. I've tried the hoka mach 4 but they feel a bit narrow and also quite firm. Maybe firm is just the way it will be on these faster shoes? The speed is relatively soft in comparison.
Hi how does the Brooks Hyp stand up against sauc speed 2 or 3? Bought a pair Brooks Hyp in first look down only used them twice they just feel to speedy for a daily trainer? No update for them so hoping they can't improve on them? Wanted to do a run section of Tri with them but are too difficult to get on at speed?LOL
These brooks are not available yet at my place for sales but so far I'm amazed with the outsole from the glideride. Wonder how the outsole compare with the glideride... Anyway, thanks pal for the another great video here 👍🏻👍🏻
Been waiting for someone to reach 100 miles in this thing! Looks like you're the first on UA-cam, thanks Edd 😎 I've heard amazing things about this shoe, but honestly, the price point is really holding me back... Think they're worth it? My faves rn are my Kinvara 11s - light and responsive, yet plush and forgiving, not to mention dirt cheap! Just not as durable as I would like, but pros outweigh the cons for sure... How do you think the Tempos compare?
If it’s 10k on road with no grass it’s gotta be next%. The Hyperion is a top shoe but for a race I would go with the light and nimble next. Thanks for watching Gary 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
I really wanted to like this shoe, but it just felt like a firm block of foam under a great upper. My V1 Reebok Runfasts are lighter and still provide a more foregiving cushioning.
Wouldn’t normally come back to a year old post but I’m trying to decide on a non-plated shoe for longer workouts, 6-10 miles excluding WU & CD, at 10k-marathon pace. Endorphin speed is probably not stable enough for me so I’m considering the Hyperion tempo. Does it still match up well against newer releases. The razor excess is something I’m also looking at.
Would you be trying the Brooks Catamount (their trail shoe with DNA Flash)? I might even consider getting that for road running (some have said the Pegasus Trail 36 were great for the road and personally I’ve found Salomon Sense trail shoes worked well for roads so maybe Brooks would be too).
I have them. They are amazing shoes and only designed for light trails really. The only thing I would say is I’ve been running road in them and they are a little bit too firm due to the rockplate. I now have the tempo and there isn’t much in it but they are definitely a little firmer but amazing shoes
If 2 runners are both running a tempo run the 1st runner is running a 7:30 mile pace and the 2nd runner is running an 8:30 mile pace both runners are wearing the Hyperion Tempo. Is the 2nd and slower runner running the 8:30 tempo pace running fast enough to benefit from running in the Hyperion Tempo?
Yes it's a tempo run for the 2nd runner at 8:30. Will the 2nd runner be able to unlock the magic of the Hyperion Tempo if 8:30 is a fast pace for 2nd runner? Will the shoe come to life running at that slow of a pace?
Edd. Just got done smelling my New Balance Beacon v2 after a long run. Bad mistake. A lyric in a song by the Dead Milkmen "My Many Smells" best described it. "Smelled just like the bathroom after grandma'd used it and she's been eating prunes." I hope this didn't ruin your appetite because it would be a shame for Mrs. Budd's delectable flapjacks to go to waste.
I’m not sure it’s softness is the key to this one. It’s the firm but forgiving nature helps with higher pace. Softness sadly isn’t always so good for higher paced shoes. Unless there is other tech in there. 😊👍🏼🏃🏻♂️
Done a few runs in these now but was a bit underwhelmed I have to be honest. It just felt a bit slappy and lacking in arch support. Felt quite like the Rincon which some loved but I found the same issues. I tried a 0.5 mile Strava "blast" in it and the time was OK for me but it didn't feel was getting much help. Probably better than the Peg 37 though which is just a shoe for going slow in and feeling it is hard to do so! I might suffer a bit as my 13 felt a little big but I thought the 12 might not quite be long enough. No 12.5 in a Brooks of course.
Wow! I really hope they release this to Canada sometime soon. Have you tried the endorphin speed yet? I went for my first run the other day and... wow.... just wow.
Speed are on their way. Supposed to be delivered yesterday but no dice! Glad they are working out for you Brendon! Thanks for watching, it’s much appreciated 😊👍🏼🏃🏻♂️
@@EDDBUD Awwwwh man! Hopefully they get to you soon. I'm actually just getting ready to go out for a run with a speed on one foot and a pro on the other to do a little comparison. Should be interesting!
The Speed has PEBAX foam which has been independently proven to provide energy return. That's not to say that Brooks' foam doesn't provide energy return but I would probably only buy the Brooks'on the basis I prefer the look
I have the Tempo with the white upper and love it so far! I've only run with them on hills but I plan on taking them onto a flat route sometime soon. I invite you all to Follow me on instagram @chefmqtherunner I love this running community!

Hey Kal. The durability and foam are with a pair I think. Good quality and super lockdown. Thanks for watching as always 😊👍🏼🏃🏻♂️
These shoes rock. I'm loving mine. Totally agree on the lockdown. 👍🏼👊🏼
Great upper design. An underrated model for sure Al

Looking forward to running in mine. Had to try the Saucony Endorphin Speed shoes first. Watch out for the land gulls!
Thanks, this pair, together with SL20 and Adios 4 and 5 are in my rotatoin. Wish a longer break-in would help !

Yes it a good two years old now that shoe. The liberate is a better and cheaper version of it.
What do you think of Vasque Juxt? Are they an all around Swiss army knife of shoes to be doing everything in?
How about Brook Hyperion .... The forgotten tempo/speed/easy trainer !
Thank you for ur review be ordering one now for myself and husband
Thanks for the 100 mile review. I have had concerns about the wear resistance of the newer N2 foam shoes (both Brooks and Skechers).
Held up insanely well! Very impressed with that shoe and I raised up my scores from the initial review. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️

How would you compare these to the Endorphine Speed 2 for tempo and general speed work?
Much lighter and less bells and whistles. A firmer ride than the speed but that might be what your after.
Funnily enough, these are actually my top smelling shoes
Mine smell a bit musty now!

It’s a great shoe. Any pace once the midsole foam got a little broken in. Thanks for watching, it’s much appreciated 😊👍🏼🏃🏻♂️
Ed bud is hilarious! Great review.
How does it compare to the Rebel v2?
The rebel is squash city compared to the more firm yet forgiving Hyperion.
Just got the brooks glycerin 17s. Saved 50 loonies
The glycerin 17s are phenomenal. I’ve had my pair for more than a year with +1000k and it still holds up well.
Hey ed, does this shoe have any type of rocker to it? Does it flex or is it pretty solid?
Edd, the Hyperion tempo midsole feels softer than the ua flow velocity wind ?
Similar but the UA shoe has more rebound than the Brooks model.
These or reebok floatride run fast 2.0?
I found mine in a thrift shop for only $16 and lucky for me cuz it is still new.
Now that’s a deal!
Would you add the Hyperion Tempo to the top 5K shoes?
5k? I say yea! 😊👍🏼🏃🏻♂️

Theres no plate here, just some good old foam and a super upper. Is the 8:30/mi pace for the 2nd runner a tempo pace? :)

$300 here in Oz. I can get 2 x peg37’s for that.
Exactly!
I’d say these are more comparable to Pegasus turbo 2 & not the 37s and the price is in the same range at least here in Canada.
Pegs are hard as a rock
@@JP-ks9nh What are you talking about? Pegasus' are super soft and squishy.
