Everyone keep talking about how impracticable her out was in RE3, but tend to forget that she was on her day off when the outbreak happened. She wasn't on duty at all, the outbreak happened suddenly so it makes sense why she would be in that outfit.

If you want to say realistic then the reason for her outfit would be realistic because its an unexpected event that happen while she was in civilian clothing off duty. But if you want to argue that its unrealistic for her to wear it then you can argue that the entire game is unrealistic for the fact she can carry a last gun twice her size. So its stupid reason to drop her classic costume to begin with. But we now know the reason now. The designer recently admitted in an interview that they wanted to remove her sex appeal so she can be taken seriously. So wait, you mean the fan base behind Jill never took her seriously? So a woman isn't taken seriously if she have an ounce of sex appeal to her? Thats an insult and there are female gamers who feel insulted by that statement. Jill has been kicking since RE1 that's why people love her.

There seems to be a pretty big diff between her in RE1 and 3, the outfit itself definitely isn't anything that crazy. But it felt like (to me at least) that the actual look all round was designed to make Jill more 'attractive'. Hence what I mean by sexualized, don't think it's too much of a stretch given the way Lara Croft was smashing through games during the same period lol.
Like I said before.... must be an age thing.... I was in my early 20’s when this came out.... and she’s wearing clothes of the time.... you can UA-cam Old Navy or Gap Commercials or any Teen Dramas .... she’s not even showing cleavage.....

Ya can bring the costume with mods (there is dlc with the remake but there’s a fucking skort which is a skirt and short pants ya can fix it and put a actual skirt with mods)
Agree and since Jill should not suppose to prepare for the outbreak and still rest in her apartment so she should wear comfortable design not full operating outfit.
My favorite design will always be the RE1 remake! She looked exactly how I imagined the original Jill in RE1 and 3 looked if they were “real” if that makes sense. She didn’t look different to me, just her with more realistic looking high quality graphics.
Short answer to the video title: NO! Long answer: While it is far from her worst design, the tanktop and jeans combo is really, REALLY generic looking. In my opinion her best look is the one in Resident Evil 1, specifically the version from the remake.
Her face model for 5 is the same face model as the original. To say that her face looks drastically different is obviously a big stretch. Her hair is blonde and she got paler skin but she still looks like Jill. As compared to the 360 makeover they did in RE3 remake. Let's not even. I personally love the MVC2 design the most. It was my first introduction to Jill and it’s been the one I think of when I think Jill for years. I just love how expressive she is, she’s afraid when she summons the zombies, she’s relaxed when she’s won, she’s holding on for dear life when she used the bazooka! It’s all there and so fun, and personally I adore the cheesy voice lines in the game that don’t really fit lol. Second favorite would actually be the RE5 DLC look. I think it’s an updated take on what her job and seeing as she’s become less of a military cop and works in the shadows chasing after Wesker it makes sense that she would look more sleek.
THIS is the comment I was gonna post too lol, I thought I was the only one who would mention Jill from MVC2. The cartoony version of her was my top favorite from all and the voice too lol. I was really hoping they would have at least brought her out in MVC3 too when It released but they never did unfortunately.

I prefer her original RE3 design in those promotional renders. Same with Code Veronica Chris and RE2 Claire. They looked like real people without looking "gritty" or extra thicc. Chris wasn't on roids, Claire looked her age, Jill looked sophisticated.
I’m mixed on Jill’s new current model, her face is what is making me mixed but I like her outfit a lot. my favourite design of Jill is her RE1 remake. It may be just be the same as the original core design, the way they modelled her is what makes me love that version of her. Great video Mark! EDIT: I’ve watched my friend playthrough some of the game and I changed my mind on her face it suits her, well at least that version of her. I still prefer RE1 remake.
Her face actually does match the original cgi design but they made her look angular. Due to how she is dressed. When she wears her offical police suit she looks perfect and has a round face.
It's the eyes and nose that most bug me about the new design. Original Jill has this cute nacho nose, whereas in REmake3 she has this sharp fox nose, same as Claire and I just can't buy character as Jill without those striking clear blue orbs of hers; without them she is like Leon without a dorky hairdo.
Jill = Shoulder Pads Leon = The Jacket Chris = Green Tactical Vest Barry = Red Tactical Vest They did a good of keeping Chris,Leon&Barry's appearances consistent but they got rid of the shoulder pads for Jill. Also, i would be suing Capcom if i was jill's face model lmao, they made her look ugly

What Jill wears in Resident Evil 3 is supposed to be impractical though...she's not on duty and has to suddenly escape. Given her design in re1, I think it's fair to say she generally cares about looking good. Her stars uniform isn't out of place, but stands out as being a bit more fashion-y than the others and reflects her personality. Her wearing normal clothes in resident evil 3 gives this extra sense of dread and reminds you the entire time that the player/Jill is not really prepared or equipped for this. It's reminds you that the events are messing with her life. The outfit isn't out of the ordinary either. Like I said she clearly cares a bit more about fashion, and what she wears is just generally slightly fashion-y and trendy for the time
They didn't even try with her redesign. They just made her look like modern Lara Croft to be as inoffensive as possible. That's not how good character designs are made. The very least they could have done is give her a white belt or something to keep the original color scheme in tact.
While we're on Capcom characters, I think Ryu may be a character worth analyzing. The changes aren't drastic, but hes been in so many games and crossovers that he's worth having a look.

I think her original costume fits better for Jill. She's a feminine woman who shows it through her appearance and has always had a motherly sense of attitude and personality. While her remake appearance also fits well and was still caught off guard when she was off duty from work, and had no issues with looking pretty and beautiful. Now in the remake it just looks like they gave her the Lara Croft remake treatment.
I think all her designs look great. Favorite clothes are RE1 Remake and RE3 Remake. Best face and personality is RE1 Remake. My problem with RE3 Remake is they changed her personality and I really don't like how she's depicted in that game.
Yasss I just cannot for the life of me understand why RE:Make is so underrated by the masses yet anyone who has played it will always rank it as the best game in the whole series. Need Silent Hill to get onboard and man, if they can hit the same spots as RE:Make the world will once again remember what true horror is, and that is much scarier than bloody jump scares and monsters with goopey long tongues, clowns or half naked dudes with big swords...

With Nemesis outfit, I can remember hearing Maximilian (Dood) saying its like Jill walked out of the club and into the zombie apocalypse. While it is cool they brought back the classic Nemesis costume for REmake 3, but I do hope they also bring back noir mode, along with the period inspired costumes. Ok it doesn't quite give off the same vibe as REmake 2, and there maybe a moment where like when playing as Ada, in the shipping container area, where I cannot see a goddamn thing and its like trying to navigate through an ink well, but it still added a unique atmosphere. Especially combined with the original soundtrack. With you saying as well about remakes being all the rage these days, recently Sega seem to be doing alot of Sonic Adventure teasing across social media. Fingers crossed we get an Adventure remake, and if we do it shoots for more a Resident Evil one, where it takes the base game and expands upon the gameplay, levels and story rather it just being a straight up 1:1 remake like Crash or Shadow of the Colossus. I really want Knux and Miles - does that make them sound like some 80s synth pop/new wave duo? - to get proper expanded stages of their own rather than it just being another rerun of: here's a wee bit of Sonic's stage(s)... have fun! I had thought this when playing it last year, and it confirmed it when played it again at the start of the year, I feel its like Dante in Devil May Cry 4 before that was a thing. As in the game's designed around Sonic/Nero first, and everyone else pretty gets whatever scraps are left (though not I'm saying either DMC4 or SA1 are bad, I love both. I just want more SA1 goodness lol) Also I miss Marvel 2 S.T.A.R.S Jill in Marvel 3...

While I like all the Jill costumes I still have to go with her lost in nightmares outfit I do like that one more than her original stars uniform or her tube top outfit I think it's the hat
I definitely like the RE1 design best. The outfit is practical yet just ridiculous enough (seriously, those shoulder pads) to be sort of endearing. She also just seems like a genuinely nice person, and feels like someone that anyone could hang out with.
Best version Remake Jill (Julia Voth face). My second favorite is Revelations ( that wet suit is so good). I didn't like that new desing. I really didn't understand how it looks worse than that actual face model. And costume is generic as hell. I didn't understand these practical or realistic arguments. It is a video game about zombies and creatures, who really cares about realistic look. Just desing something creative. Was Ada's RE4 costume practical or realistic? No way. Was original RE3 Jill outfit practical or realistic? No way. But they were creative, good looking and turned iconic now.
Sad thing is, with few modification, the original re 3 costume can be modified to look more practical without changing its original look. Keep the blue crop top, change skirt into skort or shorts, keep the boots, add a little bit of armor and gear like in re1 alternate costume, Julia Voth face, done. They should do that instead of changing entirely.
I always hated the Revelations design of Jill because instead of the Lara Croft style outfit in RE3make, she has the Lara Croft style haircut which has been and always will be the most basic video game female haircut ever

The RE 5 dlc outfit it's by far the best one. I can't help but think of Julianne Moore's character in _Next_ . That outfit really sells the explosives expert turned anti-BOWs activist persona. And just in case you didn't know, none of her outfits "sexualises" her, and even it did, there's nothing wrong with sexualizing her. Nothing a man likes is wrong. Feminism bad, men good 👍
I do let agree with what your insinuating. When she appeared with weaker she was damn near super human. Look how skintight weskers clothes were. It was made to be light weight with very little armor because, they could you know, dodge bullets

resident evil 1 remake was a great game, and based on aesthetic appearances, that Jill would be my fav so far. When RE3 remake trailer dropped, my first impression was that Jill's face looks a bit weird and completely different. But you'd prob get used to it quickly once you start playing the game. I rank original RE3 as one of the lower ranked titles in the series tho, in terms of enjoyment value. RE4 the best man. And hearing that this remake is a real short game as well from diff reviews.., kinda wondering if just skip it for now and save that extra cash for when I run out toilet paper.
The original had a mature look - she looks like in her mid- late 20s and she sounds grown. The REmake made her look so young out of college as though she was Claire’s age. It’s not about attractiveness per say but maturity that took me time to adjust. Now I really love it but I just wish her hair colour was more like the original. But I get that they want to contrast her with Claire’s design. The sweaty asymmetrical bob haircut though is genius, it’s realistic and she looks even more badass everytime I see her in that, that alone overshadows any part of her aesthetic drawbacks imo

Jill from the 2002 Remake is my personal favourite when it comes down to design. Jill in RE3 Nemesis is the best version of Jill in terms of characterisation. She’s got a strong sense of justice but it’s balanced with a healthy emotional side. RE5 has its issues but at least Jill was still herself after she was freed from Wesker’s control but I digress.
Just so you know, blonde Jill in RE5 is a dead ringer for Fiona Belli, another heroine of a survival horror game from Capcom. And for the record, Jill is hottest in REmake and Umbrella Chronicles

I understand that jeans and a tank top are more practical in a situation like this... but she looks like a side character in a COD game, she just looks really generic imo. Not to mention that this is like the third time Capcom has added a girl with jeans and a tank top in the new RE games. Can the RE Engine not handle *any* other type of clothes? Both the female protagonists in RE7 wore tank tops and jeans, see what I mean? The best character models for Jill are probably Revelations and the HD remake of RE1 in my honest opinion. For the outfits and the fact that Julia Voth is the best Jill.
I love her natural look in the REmake, Julia Voth gave her so much personality and vulnerability, I loved that. Spin off Jill always looks like she had too much botox and fillers, more than a natural beauty looks like a influencer from Tik Tok.

The RE3 remake's Jill design, and VA is already perfect. Fits the tough person that has seen a lot of shit and slowly catching up to all the shit that is happening. Her design is simple but it fits Jill's character, she's all substance. I always see her as the "I'm gonna beat you up, you want S.T.A.R.S., I'll give you S.T.A.R.S." person, not the "I wanna look pretty so I'll wear an off-shoulder dress while I'm being chased by this Tyrant. I'd always take a simple yet effective, and fits the character character design than something that is iconic but does not fit the character, and the setting. My list would be: 1. RE3 Remake Jill 2. RE5 BSAA Jill 3. RE1 S.T.A.R.S. Jill 4. RE5 mind controlled Jill
Okay so, I'm still super young (14)but I'm a HUGE fan of Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider games(and my most favourite games are the tomb raider games and Lara Croft is also my most favourite videogame character) . Ive been a fan of Lara since I was 6, my dad introduced me to the first game of the reboot series, tomb raider (2013). I really liked Lara's personality(I still do) , strong and brave. After Rise of the tomb raider came out, I picked up the older games, from legend to underworld, and I realised how much lara has changed,but that's not the point, I LOVE both Laras. So I'm saying all this because I read that a lot of people compared jill in re3 remake with Lara. Well I wouldn't agree with them 100% but they aren't wrong too. I'm not talking about their looks. Both girls have a similar personality, just in 2 different worlds. For ME it's not a problem cuz I love Lara and it's good seeing Jill like this, but for those who played the original re3 and the previous games where Jill was in it, it might be a problem for them. Anyone like that, please do tell me what you don't like about the new Jill. If I said something dumb, I'm sorry lol
RE5 Jill is the truest example of Women in Refrigerators and I absolutely hate it! Jill deserves so much better than just being used as a henchman for Wesker and a tool for Chris' development.

I’m mixed on Jill’s new current model, her face is what is making me mixed but I like her outfit a lot. my favourite design of Jill is her RE1 remake. It may be just be the same as the original core design, the way they modelled her is what makes me love that version of her. Great video Mark! EDIT: I’ve watched my friend playthrough some of the game and I changed my mind on her face it suits her, well at least that version of her. I still prefer RE1 remake.
Her face actually does match the original cgi design but they made her look angular. Due to how she is dressed. When she wears her offical police suit she looks perfect and has a round face.
The difference is the hair, in RE3 she had looooooooooong hair under the hat, in the remake they gave her her RE3 haircut.

It's the eyes and nose that most bug me about the new design.
Original Jill has this cute nacho nose, whereas in REmake3 she has this sharp fox nose, same as Claire and I just can't buy character as Jill without those striking clear blue orbs of hers; without them she is like Leon without a dorky hairdo.

They did a good of keeping Chris,Leon&Barry's appearances consistent but they got rid of the shoulder pads for Jill. Also, i would be suing Capcom if i was jill's face model lmao, they made her look ugly

Jills original Re3 outfit with the "impractical" comment. I feel it adds to situation coming out of nowhere and blind siding EVERYONE and that no one was prepared. New Design is kinda bland.

What Jill wears in Resident Evil 3 is supposed to be impractical though...she's not on duty and has to suddenly escape. Given her design in re1, I think it's fair to say she generally cares about looking good. Her stars uniform isn't out of place, but stands out as being a bit more fashion-y than the others and reflects her personality. Her wearing normal clothes in resident evil 3 gives this extra sense of dread and reminds you the entire time that the player/Jill is not really prepared or equipped for this. It's reminds you that the events are messing with her life. The outfit isn't out of the ordinary either. Like I said she clearly cares a bit more about fashion, and what she wears is just generally slightly fashion-y and trendy for the time

They didn't even try with her redesign. They just made her look like modern Lara Croft to be as inoffensive as possible. That's not how good character designs are made. The very least they could have done is give her a white belt or something to keep the original color scheme in tact.
The uniform given as a pre order bonus is not the same. She wares a pants skirt and not the original skirt
While we're on Capcom characters, I think Ryu may be a character worth analyzing. The changes aren't drastic, but hes been in so many games and crossovers that he's worth having a look.
I definitely want to go more into capcom in general. There are so many great characters from street fighter and megaman alone!

I think her original costume fits better for Jill. She's a feminine woman who shows it through her appearance and has always had a motherly sense of attitude and personality. While her remake appearance also fits well and was still caught off guard when she was off duty from work, and had no issues with looking pretty and beautiful. Now in the remake it just looks like they gave her the Lara Croft remake treatment.

With Nemesis outfit, I can remember hearing Maximilian (Dood) saying its like Jill walked out of the club and into the zombie apocalypse.
While it is cool they brought back the classic Nemesis costume for REmake 3, but I do hope they also bring back noir mode, along with the period inspired costumes. Ok it doesn't quite give off the same vibe as REmake 2, and there maybe a moment where like when playing as Ada, in the shipping container area, where I cannot see a goddamn thing and its like trying to navigate through an ink well, but it still added a unique atmosphere. Especially combined with the original soundtrack.
With you saying as well about remakes being all the rage these days, recently Sega seem to be doing alot of Sonic Adventure teasing across social media. Fingers crossed we get an Adventure remake, and if we do it shoots for more a Resident Evil one, where it takes the base game and expands upon the gameplay, levels and story rather it just being a straight up 1:1 remake like Crash or Shadow of the Colossus. I really want Knux and Miles - does that make them sound like some 80s synth pop/new wave duo? - to get proper expanded stages of their own rather than it just being another rerun of: here's a wee bit of Sonic's stage(s)... have fun! I had thought this when playing it last year, and it confirmed it when played it again at the start of the year, I feel its like Dante in Devil May Cry 4 before that was a thing. As in the game's designed around Sonic/Nero first, and everyone else pretty gets whatever scraps are left (though not I'm saying either DMC4 or SA1 are bad, I love both. I just want more SA1 goodness lol)

I definitely like the RE1 design best. The outfit is practical yet just ridiculous enough (seriously, those shoulder pads) to be sort of endearing. She also just seems like a genuinely nice person, and feels like someone that anyone could hang out with.

Best version Remake Jill (Julia Voth face). My second favorite is Revelations ( that wet suit is so good). I didn't like that new desing. I really didn't understand how it looks worse than that actual face model. And costume is generic as hell. I didn't understand these practical or realistic arguments. It is a video game about zombies and creatures, who really cares about realistic look. Just desing something creative. Was Ada's RE4 costume practical or realistic? No way. Was original RE3 Jill outfit practical or realistic? No way. But they were creative, good looking and turned iconic now.
Sad thing is, with few modification, the original re 3 costume can be modified to look more practical without changing its original look. Keep the blue crop top, change skirt into skort or shorts, keep the boots, add a little bit of armor and gear like in re1 alternate costume, Julia Voth face, done. They should do that instead of changing entirely.
I always hated the Revelations design of Jill because instead of the Lara Croft style outfit in RE3make, she has the Lara Croft style haircut which has been and always will be the most basic video game female haircut ever

The RE 5 dlc outfit it's by far the best one. I can't help but think of Julianne Moore's character in _Next_ . That outfit really sells the explosives expert turned anti-BOWs activist persona. And just in case you didn't know, none of her outfits "sexualises" her, and even it did, there's nothing wrong with sexualizing her. Nothing a man likes is wrong. Feminism bad, men good 👍

I do let agree with what your insinuating. When she appeared with weaker she was damn near super human. Look how skintight weskers clothes were. It was made to be light weight with very little armor because, they could you know, dodge bullets

Resident evil 1 remake look is unbeatable.
resident evil 1 remake was a great game, and based on aesthetic appearances, that Jill would be my fav so far. When RE3 remake trailer dropped, my first impression was that Jill's face looks a bit weird and completely different. But you'd prob get used to it quickly once you start playing the game. I rank original RE3 as one of the lower ranked titles in the series tho, in terms of enjoyment value. RE4 the best man. And hearing that this remake is a real short game as well from diff reviews.., kinda wondering if just skip it for now and save that extra cash for when I run out toilet paper.
Late, but if you really want to have it, then wait for a sale. It's not worth the full $60 price tag for a game that's missing key contents
The original had a mature look - she looks like in her mid- late 20s and she sounds grown. The REmake made her look so young out of college as though she was Claire’s age. It’s not about attractiveness per say but maturity that took me time to adjust. Now I really love it but I just wish her hair colour was more like the original. But I get that they want to contrast her with Claire’s design. The sweaty asymmetrical bob haircut though is genius, it’s realistic and she looks even more badass everytime I see her in that, that alone overshadows any part of her aesthetic drawbacks imo

Jill from the 2002 Remake is my personal favourite when it comes down to design. Jill in RE3 Nemesis is the best version of Jill in terms of characterisation. She’s got a strong sense of justice but it’s balanced with a healthy emotional side. RE5 has its issues but at least Jill was still herself after she was freed from Wesker’s control but I digress.

I personally don't like Jill's character model in RE3 remake.
I understand that jeans and a tank top are more practical in a situation like this... but she looks like a side character in a COD game, she just looks really generic imo. Not to mention that this is like the third time Capcom has added a girl with jeans and a tank top in the new RE games. Can the RE Engine not handle *any* other type of clothes? Both the female protagonists in RE7 wore tank tops and jeans, see what I mean?
The best character models for Jill are probably Revelations and the HD remake of RE1 in my honest opinion.

The RE3 remake's Jill design, and VA is already perfect. Fits the tough person that has seen a lot of shit and slowly catching up to all the shit that is happening. Her design is simple but it fits Jill's character, she's all substance. I always see her as the "I'm gonna beat you up, you want S.T.A.R.S., I'll give you S.T.A.R.S." person, not the "I wanna look pretty so I'll wear an off-shoulder dress while I'm being chased by this Tyrant. I'd always take a simple yet effective, and fits the character character design than something that is iconic but does not fit the character, and the setting.

1. RE3 Remake Jill
2. RE5 BSAA Jill
3. RE1 S.T.A.R.S. Jill

Okay so, I'm still super young (14)but I'm a HUGE fan of Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider games(and my most favourite games are the tomb raider games and Lara Croft is also my most favourite videogame character) . Ive been a fan of Lara since I was 6, my dad introduced me to the first game of the reboot series, tomb raider (2013). I really liked Lara's personality(I still do) , strong and brave. After Rise of the tomb raider came out, I picked up the older games, from legend to underworld, and I realised how much lara has changed,but that's not the point, I LOVE both Laras. So I'm saying all this because I read that a lot of people compared jill in re3 remake with Lara. Well I wouldn't agree with them 100% but they aren't wrong too. I'm not talking about their looks. Both girls have a similar personality, just in 2 different worlds. For ME it's not a problem cuz I love Lara and it's good seeing Jill like this, but for those who played the original re3 and the previous games where Jill was in it, it might be a problem for them. Anyone like that, please do tell me what you don't like about the new Jill. If I said something dumb, I'm sorry lol
