couple things. 1 make your holes big. You dig holes like you know the size of the object your looking for. Also it could be a brittle item and you sending that spade head into dirt at that speed would cut it in half. Have the mindset it is something fragile. Thats why bigger hole is better. Less chance of breaking artifact. If you scrape side walls with spade. I thought that lump was. Soil that formed into rock. Which means minerals are making the detector ring.

I will brag I made my very first find today and it was the metal ring that goes on old vacuum bags. WINNER! Backyard finds telling you. Now I know the area is clean!

it looks like a figurine. the face is on one end.. you can spot it easier from the back smooth side. and the little hole looks like it was deliberately made. like to put it on a string.. or a leather thong... possibly worn.. as a decoration. the smooth side is the top of the hot metal pour. so the rough side could actually be deliberately patterned.. but too much is worn off to actually make out what it is. could have incredible potential.

if you can scrape it on the corner , if it scrapes easy and shows silver color then you got lead....

Hi Bob Haggard, I live in Switzerland and I've started to learn the tones of my Fisher F22. I noticed that 5 cents and 5 francs does 40-44, 10&20 cents does 30-34, 50 cents does 27-29, 1 fr I forgot, 2 fr is 39-40. As for aluminum I got between 22-30+35+36+40-42. Now, I tested some gold jewelry and most of them are in the iron tones between 12-19. The most expensive gold ring I tested was 19+24+25+29+32+34-37+41+42. So ever since I've done this test I've been digging up iron pieces all the times. My question is: How do you know when it's gold and when it's iron? What can I do to recognize gold tones?

I have a ace 150 and wanted to buy a f22. But after watching some videos about it i think the f22 dont work very well. Iron to high Silver to low. My ace works better, 175 euro

Hi! That's what's interesting about an ID machine, I believe the depth is calibrated for coin sized objects. It is kind of another way of telling if it's something other than a coin that is bigger and deeper if it goes past the displayed depth reading. Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing.
      Very much appreciated!

Hey Bob, cool dig! Do you think it could be scrap from old bullet maker or something? That deep it must be old i would think though. Thanks!

Hey! That would be great! Just not sure what to think of it. I have never found anything quite like it before. Was glad to see the Fisher detect something that deep so well. I'll keep trying, something good is bound to turn up! Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing.
      Much appreciated!

If I had to guess I would say it is lead and I know during the revolutionary and civil wars soldiers would carry chunks of lead around with them to melt down into their ammo for muskets. Just a thought!

The size and shape of it kinda looks like it could have been used for that. Wish I knew for sure, that would have been awesome! That's what makes this hobby enjoyable, you just never know what you might find! Thanks again for watching and commenting.

Sounds good! With today's technology it's hard to go wrong with just about any modern detector. A lot of great detectors to choose from. Thanks again!

Do you recommend the Fischer F22 or do you wish you had gotten a different one? Most forums I see a lot of people prefer the Fischer F22. And from watching you use it in the videos it seems very user friendly.

I've never used a Garret detector other than the pinpointer and it's very good! I really like the f22 because it has just enough of the features I like without being too complicated. It works great and at a very good price. Just my opinion and I seem to always want to try something else!! It never ends:)
