      I'm glad this video helped you with some of the basic operation. There are some things that I forgot to mention. The main thing is to be patient and get out and hunt as much as you can. This is the best way to learn the detector and the hobby. The finds will start to get better and easier. Just take your time and have fun! Thanks again for watching and commenting. GL&HH!

      Well it arrived and so far not to thrilled with it. Did a floor test with a Canadian dollar coin, quarter,dime and an American penny. On Jewelry mode with sensitivity at factory setting of 6 it does not detect any of them at greater than 4 inches, the dime not at all until you're practically touching it. The target numbers bounce around wildly, on the quarter for example between 99 and 54 and never seem to settle. Sure doesn't seem to work like yours does in your video. Any suggestions or did I just buy a lemon for my first detector

    • @bobhaggard3235
      @bobhaggard3235  5 років тому

      Thom Vogan
      Not sure where you tried the test but indoors has a lot of interference. Try it outside on the ground away from any overhead power lines or any other metal. Adjust the sensitivity up to 8 or 9 then try it. Sometimes even cell phone and wifi signals will interfere with the detector. Just the world we live in :) If it doesn't improve then it might be the detector or coil. Also make sure the coil connection to the detector is secure. Sure hope this helps.

I've watched all ur videos several times over , and it seams that , even for a low priced machine , it does pretty darn good. Looking forward to when u make a new video. I think I wore the others out. Lol. Good luck on ur next hunt.

      Hi Brad. I think you're going to like the F22! It amazes me how much electronics have advanced, and the f22 is a great example of that! I usually use headphones when I'm not making a video. It makes hearing the detector easier in noisy environments and doesn't bother other people around you. Makes the batteries last longer also. Just be aware of your surroundings because headphones makes it hard to hear someone walking up to you. Thanks again for watching and commenting. GL&HH!!

      To reset your F22 to the preset factory settings:
      1.Turn the detector off.
      2.Hold the MENU button down while pressing the Power button.
      NOTE: This reset will erase any custom tone settings you may have entered in the Custom Mode.

    I bought this detector 2 years ago as I thought it would be a fun hobby but it turned out to be just a source of frustration. After using mine several times all I ever got was phantom targets. The machine would beep and I'd zero in with the pin point function only to find nothing in the hole or in the soil removed. After digging hundreds of holes only to find nothing the fun quickly wore off. Hell, I'd have been happy to find a pull tab so mine has been gathering dust ever since. The other peeve I had with the F22 is the screen is not lit so at night they are basically useless. The people putting out these videos are mostly experienced detectors so these machines might seem simple to them but to a first time user the many parameters and sounds can be overly complicated. If you're new to detecting and you buy one of these I'd suggest going out with an experienced user at first so they can show you what you're doing wrong. Unfortunately there are no metal detecting clubs in my area I could join so I never did figure out if the problem was with me or the machine

      Hello! Sorry to hear that you have had a bad first experience detecting. From the time you turn a detector on it is a learning process. My first thought from your description is the ground you were hunting was highly mineralized and maybe the sensitivity was set a little high. I would try using the coins program with a sensitivity of 6 or 7. Only dig the solid repeatable signals that sound off in all directions. Ignore the short choppy signals, they are usually false signals or trash being rejected by the detector. Use a slow to medium sweep speed with the coil level and close to the ground throughout the entire sweep. Detecting at first takes a lot of time and patience. The first time you find something valuable or interesting to you, it will all come together and you will find more and better targets. If the ground is bad for detecting try some place else. Be aware of power lines near by, they can cause the detector to be erratic and causes false signals. If this doesn’t help it could be a defective coil, connector or the control box. Hope this helps. Thanks again for watching and commenting!

    Hi Bob I'm new to your Channel. I have a question regarding the Fisher F-22. I watched your video here and it was very informative one of the best I've seen on Fisher products. My question is will the F-22 hit on silver coins? I just watched a video where a guy buried a 4in silver quarter in the F-22 couldn't find it. So he dug it up and replaced it with a 4in clad quarter and it was banging on that one. Are Fisher metal detectors no good at finding silver?

    • @bobhaggard3235
      @bobhaggard3235  2 роки тому +2

      Hello Danny. I’m not sure why the detector would not detect the silver quarter but would the clad. I have never had that happen because silver is a very high conductor. Could be some kind of masking effect from nearby iron or electromagnetic interference. I have never had the f22 or any other detector not detect silver unless it is being masked by junk. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Hello. This machine has a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) in the pinpoint mode. Meaning the closer the target is to the center of the coil, the higher and louder the pitch. Makes pinpointing very easy! Thanks again for watching! I think you will enjoy this detector. GL&HH!

    • @time2beaghost9
      @time2beaghost9 6 років тому

      can you use vco all the time not just in pinpoint mode online manual says setting custom tones that 0 is vco just wanting to know if vco can be used at all times from somebody thats owns a f22 thanks.

    • @bobhaggard3235
      @bobhaggard3235  6 років тому +1

      Time2be Aghost
      That is true, you can assign all or choose what number (category) you want to use vco when hunting. At first I wasn't used to multiple tones so I changed them to all high tones then just looked at the meter when I got a solid hit to get an ID. The different tones help ID the target without looking at the meter all the time. This machine is very versatile especially for the price!

      just one more question is the auto ground balance good with different soil types I am hunting in Illinois and if the fisher f22 detects something large lets just say if your relic hunting or come across large finds does the f22 overload?only reason i ask is from the amazon review people ask why is it always overloading and the reply was because it will overload on anything much bigger than a coin not sure how true this is would like to know your advise because i coin hunt but I also relic hunt.

    • @bobhaggard3235
      @bobhaggard3235  6 років тому +1

      Time2be Aghost
      It's not really an automatic ground balance but a factory preset balance. I think this type of balance works very well and is much better than an improperly set manual ground balance. Ground balance eliminates the effects of minerals in the ground. The overload feature is the detector indicating the target is too close and too large for it to accurately identify it, just lift the coil up a few inches and sweep again. Large shallow iron or aluminum seems to cause this to happen more often. Also using too high sensitivity level in very trashy areas can cause overload. The more you use this detector, the easier it is to understand what it's trying to tell you. Thanks again for watching and commenting!

    compared to the Teknetics Delta, which is some years older, has the f22 improved over it?

    • @bobhaggard3235
      @bobhaggard3235  6 років тому +1

      john dutkiewicz
      Hi john. I'm not familiar with the delta but the f22 has been a great detector. I was initially interested in it because it seemed similar to the Tesoro silver sabre micro max that I really enjoy hunting with. New modern technology of the f22 has made it very easy to use but the depth and discrimination is better than I thought it would be! Just enough features to make it easy and fun, without being complicated. Can't wait to get out again! Thanks for watching and commenting. GL&HH!

    Great video! What's the difference between coin and jewelry mode? Seems like they both pick up the same type of metals. Am I missing something? Thanks - still new to hunting! :)

    • @bobhaggard3235
      @bobhaggard3235  7 років тому +2

      Matthew Gilbert Hi Matthew! Jewelry can fall almost anywhere on the scale. Most coins, meaning copper,silver, nickel and zinc have a more specific range. In the coin mode it discriminates out the more than likely non coin segments. Meaning the iron, foil and main pull tab ranges. When you are hunting places that have a lot of trash it will increase the odds of finding coins mixed in with the trash. Jewelry hunting requires digging about everything but iron. The more you hunt the more you will get to know what the detector is telling you. Thanks again for watching and commenting! GL&HH!

    The metal detector used to work alright, until for some reason it started seeing every metal as gold and only reacting to big objects, not objects like coins etc..
