Got out of watching The Wild Robot with a friend last night, and they played the Minecraft trailer before it, as you might expect. I had seen it before, but as it finished, I looked at my friend and was about to say, "I don't see the appeal, but maybe at least some kids will like it." But I didn't get the chance to open my mouth before we both heard a young kid from a few rows over say, "THAT LOOKS REALLY STUPID." So there ya have it, folks
If a kid’s going to the cinema to see a film, it might as well be a good film. Otherwise you’re just paying to go somewhere and show your kid slop, when you could do the exact same thing at home for free.
it’s insane how the yogscast made an entire narrative series when the game was at a barebones state. meanwhile mojang can’t provide any meaningful creative/narrative direction after 10 years lol
People may dislike Story Mode, but let's not deny that they made great use of Minecraft features and references to build its world and landmarks of the journey.
I would applaud the team who animates the minecraft movie, whether officially or not because it would be better than what we are getting. Warner Bros don't understand what makes the other franchise movies like lego and into the spiderverse so good in the first place which is the love and passion for the source material and its community.
I don't get all this marketing to kids either, because the average age of a minecraft player 24. 💀 Your main audience are adults, Microsoft and Warner Bros
What blows my mind is if they had been dumb enough to ape the Lego movie more closely they would have ended up with an animated movie that might have been better.
God, this movie is such a disaster of tone deaf executives. They didn't bother to read a single demographic stat chart, look at the community, or do any research. Hell, I bet Jeb was on the scene with Jack Black in that clip, and never went on set again. What a letdown.

The Movie isn't made for fans or people who would watch a Minecraft movie. Its made for the people that the higher ups think would watch it because its full to the brim with random actors in a movie with nothing positive to say about it
Imma go see the movie because I know my 8 year old version of me would kill me if I didn't, but honestly I think this movie will flop and there is no saving it. If I were to make a minecraft movie it would probably be Oppenheimer in Minecraft but with mods instead of nukes, or maybe it would just be modded nukes.
Im so glad you're talking about this movie, it felt like the trailer was one big prank the whole time and I was waiting for the punchline. Also I genuinely and strongly dislike that llama. 😂
kids who played Minecraft then are adults/young adults now. kids nowadays just play Roblox and/or Fortnite(?), I dunno what kids into currently. so yeah, this movie is for no one. also kids aren't that stupid.
Microsoft is on a role with absolutely, catastrophically, cosmically MISSING the entire point of what makes their IPs popular Halo TV show, Minecraft movie, can't wait to see, whenever they do finally show them, what the Gears media will turn out like
I won't say it's bad or good since the movie didn't come out , but Minecraft unlike Mario or sonic has to be live action because Minecraft characters don't display emotion and the biggest evidence is story mod you never know what emotion the characters had... and the animations never synced... and before people say animations they are silent without any speaking nor much dialogue just gestures and other things of communication , most likely the mc movie will be comedy focused

Instead of watching "A Minecraft Movie" just watch some of those old Minecraft animations.
Element Animations would've made an absolutely stunning movie. I would've bought two tickets just to support it if they did.
