how cool would it have been if the catachan player had brought chimeras to amphibously cross the river. It would probably be the only time anyone has actually used that rule lol.
Can't say I enjoyed this game. The armies where beautiful, the terrain amazing. But the minute I saw the armies I was like, "The catachans have zero chance here".
Fantastic armies and scenery, i won't repeat what everyone has said r.e. power levels of the armies, as we all know every single imperial guardsman is a HERO. Great game thanks
What a beautiful first game from the Catachan Jungle Fighters. Enjoyed the list of both players and the map was so well done. I don't think there is anyone that do 40K maps better then Luke.
Beautiful armies and terrain in this one. Was really pleasing to see a new guard faction on the channel. I was worried for them as soon as I saw the match up though. A plucky display was the best they could hope for.
That was really annoying too. The catachan army was really cool and themed not focused on being to most powerful shit ever. So better bring a bullshit necron list. He could have won with half his army!
Just a suggestion for the Catachan player, next time you have first turn against Necrons target the spiders first. It really weakens the wraiths. Otherwise great looking armies and board, sad that the power level of the armies is so vast.
Thanks for doing a bridge scenario. It is one scenario type that has been missing from 40k for a long time. I've written one myself but still don't have bridge terrain.
I own the Montka and Im not sure you could use just three tanks. I believe for the armored fist formation you need three tanks (one of each squad) and A tank commander with a tank body gaurd.
Fantastic game. Awesome terrain as usual. Loved the Imperial Guard (and no, not interested how good or bad it was) Takes me back to my own IG force from many moons ago. Squads of Tallarn D.Raiders, Mordian Iron Guard and Valhallan Ice Warriors! Hope GW bring back these other styles of units again. Great game both, very enjoyable, as is the rematch!
On a side note I don't think that formation the guard player used was legal. The formation says you need 3 *squads* of tanks and a tank commander (which requires being in a squad of at least one other leman russ). This means you'd need at least 4 leman russes - which couldn't be run as a single squad.
+Gabriel Desjardins Hello I'm Lawrie I played the catachans in this battle. Yeah I'm sorry I wrongly fielded the formation in this Battle, I do apologise, the list is being altered :)
+Gabriel Desjardins yeah it was great fun to play mate, I'm working on changes to the force. luckily the formation mistake didn't effect the game. if your able to mate check out the battle on the plus channel it's very cool
Strikingscorpion82 but was that bridge based of Pegasus bridge because it looks very similar minus the 40k features, now that would be a interesting apocalypse battle say the guard and space marines have to take a bridge with an air assault force and a ground force while a Tau and/or Necron force hold the bridge like a bridge to far kind of battle
Personally, I wouldn't have brought the russ formation and instead brought demolishers and standard battle tanks to start IDing necron warriors and immortals. The Eradicator is good to handle those scarabs, but in my experience the punisher (unless in the hands of pask) usually under-performs by whiffing to hit or whiffing to wound.
Interesting, I've been involved with 40K for almost two decades and I've always heard GW staff pronounce it as it was pronounced here. Never even heard of people pronouncing it Katakan until I read some of the comments here. I wonder if it's a regional thing.
That 4+ Reanimation Protocols (Feel No Pain) is just plain disgusting, a whole ARMY of that?? Even Tau or Eldar would have a hard time dealing with that! Let alone mid-tier armies!
maybe your opponent would have appreciated a heads up on you bringing a competitive list. I find it helps to keep things atleast alittle more balanced if both sides know how seriously to take the game.
joeofdoom i agree, there should be a commonly understood scale like "my army's a Roquefort" "oh mine's just a mild cheddar" "don't worry I'll swap my helldrakes for something not broken"
No, mate. As tough as they are, it's a real hoot when you beat them. That's what this game is all about. Strategy. When you defeat a balanced army it's good. When you defeat cheese... It's out of this world!! Am an Eldar player and am always beaten by good strategy. Am tired of people who can't beat them calling them over powered.
Hi mate, I know I really hope Marbo gets some rules again, he's an iconic character. I do actually have the model, maybe he'll be added into the list, or he'll just sneak in without me seeing him. 😉😉😉
This game was done before it even began... dope af Catachan models but the power level was not fair at all... if you brought a more middle tier army it would've been a way better game.
I daresay it wasn't so much that he was playing guard so much as the fact he brought an incredibly poorly thought out list. That list wouldn't be able to take on foot-slogging orks with no bikes and lootas.
+Zak Tasevski that's true, but I think a few of his weapon choices within his squads were kind of silly. I enjoy playing narrative games with my friends and bringing some sub-par units, but in this case most of his army is sub-par and those necrons are at Avery competitive tournament level. The bat-rep almost wasn't worth watching (for me) because there was NO way those catachans were going to even dent that necron army. All that said, he did surprisingly well for a couple turns before the necrons gained momentum.
really enjoyed this game!!! loved seeing the catachans on the channel finally!!....hope to see more of them in future videos. love all your vids scorpion keep up the good work. your content is some of the best out there on UA-cam, really a great game, great scenery and great battle :)
+StrikingScorpion82 watching your videos inspired me to get back into the hobby!! just started collecting and got done painting my first squad of Imperial guard (cadians)
Hi Everyone, I'm Lawrie the Catachan player this Battle report against Luke Barkers amazing Necrons. Firstly a massive thank you to Luke for the battles we fought, some great gaming on an amazing board. It has been pointed out in the comments section that I fielded the "Emperor's Fist" Leman Russ formation wrongly. I do apologise if this is the case, does anyone else run this formation that could clarify this? It does not help that in the picture of the formation in the Mont'ka rule book they also only have three Russ's. So if anyone could clarify this that would be massively appreciated. I'm sorry again if this frustrated people the list will be amended.
Unfortunately you need a tank commander plus one more Russ, and the 3 squads of russes. So therefore giving you a minimum of 5 russes. Also against necrons its ability to make the opposition chose the lowest dice roll is quiet limited as you tend to get glanced to death by gauss :(. Anyway, great army and fantastic repot yet again
Thanks for the clarification David that's awesome, luckily it didn't really effect this battle, but I now know for the future. I'm a social, fun gamer. I know its not a very powerful list to take on necrons but for me I like to battle with the models and squads I like. Its just about having a good day with a an other awesome gamer and collector. I did learn a lot in this bat rep though and I would urge you to check out the second batrep on the pus channel if you are able to do so. I will be making this army more powerful :)
+Lawrie Turner I'm with you for being a social gamer. I have to admit I do struggle at times to have a decent game with the the Guard, unless you put in vets etc. Therefore I loved the bat rep, and I will check out the SSPlus channel. thanks. If you're ever in Bournemouth/Poole please check out my local club Bournegamers.com for a game.
whenever i see IG i always feel like they need more troops but thats just me. i play a very fotslogy army, i feel like having lots of bear bones IG to give covering fire helps with some nice guns mixed in
Lovely terrain and beautiful armies, but I feared the writing was on the wall for the catachans when I first saw the armies laid out. They did make a decent fight of it though which was pleasing to see.
Loved this, the board was amazing and both armies look superb. I'd love to give you a game with my catachans on a board like this it's perfect for them. Keep up the great work! Cheers.
i think the catachan player made a mistake when choosing the emperor's fist armoured company. the rules (page 43 of the mont 'ka rule book) says the formation needs; 1 tank commander 3 leman russ squadrons 1-3 enginseers This means that at minium he needs 5 leman russ and 1 enginseer, 3 for 3 one tank squadrons and since the tank commander is his own unit (page 92 of the imperial guard codex "tank command must take a leman russ" and "tank commander must include 1-2 other leman russes") he needs at least 2. If i'm not understanding the rules right would you let me know what pages or FAQs i'm missing but i think that the minimum cost for two russes being 240 pts it could have an effect on a game with 1850 pts. If you agreed to this before hand would you please mention it in the video please. at any rate, great video keep it up.
I don't know about that. This list? i totally agree, and I think guard has a small chance at best. That said my guard have waffle stomped a Decurion detatchment a couple times.
I disagree sir. I would love to have a go on this board it fits right in to my style of play. Fifty conscripts with a priest jamming up the bridge. Five heavy weapons squads getting orders from my commander and psykers buffing them and the big guns. My choice of pie plates either a tank company or artillerry company.A deathstrike would make the opponent play completely different. Not saying its a guarantee win or anything but i would definitely have a chance.
I believe I mis-spoke when I said an IG army didn't have a chance. I mainly meant this IG list. Of course IG can be tough, but this Decurion Detachment is pretty brutal and extremely competitive. I see this list a lot in tournaments and it generally wins. I'm in the process of making this exact list for tournaments. So sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone with my comment.
np man I agree the list was weak and the decurian is probably the stongest formation. I am old school not going to play whats the best at the moment going do my thing its twice as sweet when you win,
Would love to see you do some batreps for battle fleet gothic man, with rules videos and painting tutorials, I know they no longer produce it but the stuff is Widely available and no one else is really doing it on UA-cam :) awesome batrep though dude! :)
Also given the interceptor - should one of the units not be deployed on turn 2 of the necrons as the flyer was taken out? or does interceptor only take effect in the shooting phase rather than the movement?
I'm assuming the one that was shot down was the one that was carrying Tamun'Ra and the Lychgard, who had already been deployed in the movement phase. Either that or the crash and burn killed all the Immortals and they just didn't mention it.
Absolute termination! It's the rise of the machines. And in the midst of the turmoil, one man stands, barking out orders to already dead soldiers and yelling defiant insults at the top of his lungs as he hews at the unfeeling machines. Though many fell, still more came, until their metal appendages tore into his body and "Iron Hand" Straken's blood drenched the ground.
P-a-lease do a tutorial on that river, Luke. The creator of it needs a big honk'n shout out. Mickey Mouse paint job on the Catchans, Lawrie. Very curious about the desert style yellow on a jungle army. Good to see fresh meat to challenge you, Luke. Pointy ears forever!!
I didn't even have to watch the Battle Report, based off the lists alone the Necrons had it in the bag. Not to criticize but perhaps take a more friendly army or list against a list like this next time? Would make for a much more enjoyable fight for everyone involved I'm sure.
Your overlord cannot take both artefacts of the aeons. On page 65 of the codex it states a "a model may take ONE of the following". This means you have to drop either the Gauntlet of the Conflagrator or Voidreaper. This will save you 30 points which just happens to be exactly the number of points to add whip coils to all the wraiths. This is a must for your force since it makes the wraiths have initiative 5 during the fight sub-phase which is a big deal. Given you have invested so many points of your force into the wraiths whip coils will improve their effectiveness especially against tougher targets. This change both makes your army battle legal and much better yet still using the same models and keeping the theme going.
Is it just me or is that bridge exactly the same one as in Call of Duty 1 (or maybe Call of Duty 2)? i remember it very well...the bridge specifically rather than the jungle, as in the campaign it was just after the invasion of Normandy.
It is exactly the bridge for a real ww2 battle. I think it was a German held bridge in Normandy and gliders with SAS had to take control of it during operation market garden
+Oliver Brooks it is Pegasus Bridge, liberated by glider attack during D-day but it was the parachute regiment that took it hence it being named Pegasus bridge in honour of their regimental badge. My grandpa was the officer in charge of the engineers accompanying them who had to disarm the German explosives planted to destroy the bridge so it made me smile when I saw it.
I can only imagine what those Scions might have been thinking... "Command this is 5th squad we have just deep struck onto the bridg- AHAHAHAHAH NECRONS NOOAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaa..."
Another smashing BatRep Mr Barker! I love Imperial Guard Armies. The Table was staggering! Seriously I watch a few channels miniwargaming do good too, but you are head and shoulders above the rest. Really well done 👍. I do have a wee rant about the relative power of the the armies here. I'm sure you know yourself, what with your brothers amazing IG army. I just feel something needs to be done to save the Guard. This was relatively competitive because the Ogryns did so well but in real terms it was woefully one sided. I feel the guard should have better rules and stronger weapons. For example. The Tau have the support fire from adjacent units when charged. This should be a Guard rule as they NEVER survive close combat. The AdMech doctrines to increase BS while sacrificing WS and vice versa. This should be a guard rule too.. This list goes on. Even beefing up their weapons. That nova cannon should be D-strength! Those Reanimation protocols add 25% to a necron army. And so on....
for the montka formation for the Catachans, sorry to say but it is wrongly set up. The tank Commander consists of 2 leman russ. Plus you need 3 squadrons of Leman Russ (it can be squadrons of 1 tank each ) so as a minimum you need 5 tanks...
Well done on the win, SS82, but that Catachan list - while beautifully painted - was not competitive and he made some poor decisions like shielding his infantry with bullgrins for 2-3 turns vs ignores cover troops. Target priority seemed sloppy too. Great batrep through, just strong feelings from a guard player
Come on, Luke, you brought a decurion and two canoptek harvests against an IG army? As an avid fan of your battle reports, and a variety of others as well, these neuron formations typically make for the least entertaining games. Anyway, keep up the great work and just keep that in mind.
cat-a-chan is correct pronunciation. this guard list did not make the most of the command swuads giving orders. surely that is what box casters are for. bring him down, fire on my target, etc could also have done with a unit of conscripts under a commissar to do-or-die charge across the bridge. the ability to hold back the tide of necrons' by tying up front ranks in a melee attrition would have helped bunch up the necrons' ready for blast and ordnance attacks. super terrain, love the gloss river effect. just missing a rope bridge or fallen tree log to dash infantry across.
Amazing looking table, with great armies. It was good to see the catachans fighting in the jungle. Too bad, that the IG army didn't have a chance. It was cleare form the begining that they couldn't beat the necron army. Still luck was on their side, but it wasn't enough. My main problem with the list that I can't see a concept. It wasa fluf list, and I like fluf lists, but they can be also effective. A few tips for Lawrie Turner: Don't put sponsons on a vanqusher tank. It's has long range anti-tank weapons, heavy bolters best against infantry. Multi-meltas could work, but they are not effective at long range. Also keep this kind of tank in the back, it can shoot across the table. Also consider the carapace armour for veterans. For me it paid off most of the times. The veteran squad with the flamers would be better, if you would buy the demolition doctrine for them. I haven't tried this combination yet, but I see potential in it. I'm not sure about the ogryns/bullgryns, they hold them well in this game. Maybe you should concider one six man squad, instead of 2 three man squads. Scorpion, are you still planning to start a guard army?
I also feel it would behoove the Catachans, and be superior from a strategic standpoint to keep the Russ squadron firing from the tree line, utilizing what cover and concealment is available.
Anyone else want some Gin? We should all be drinking Gin while watching the Battle of Kawigon. Hell, lets see if we can find some local spirits, like a Kwaigon Gin or something.
On turn 3 with the Ogryns they wouldn't have failed their leadership. Because you count up the wounds caused in all combats and the Catachans caused two wounds on your other group of wraiths so they would have won combat.
Great Batrep, as usual. Very nice to see Catachan fighters on the channel. The painting is well in the theme...very soothing for the eyes :) One mistake, I think, is that the Wraith in turn 2 against the Ogryns on the bridge. You threw too many dice. There was only one Wraith left, and I think you threw 6 dice...resulting in the kiling of an Ogryn. This maybe could have changed a bit the end result
Hmmm can't help thinking if I was battling the IG with a one of the top tier armies I would have summed the list down. That can't have been fun for that guy. Defiantly would not have used the decurion, even if I wanted to use all those units. First time I am ever going to say this about one of your batreps but it was not very good.
Luke makes a list and sticks to that list. Just like when in a tournament, you cannot change your list with each battle. Lawrie has seen the list on the channel, as we all have, and challenged with the list he chose.
how cool would it have been if the catachan player had brought chimeras to amphibously cross the river. It would probably be the only time anyone has actually used that rule lol.
preach it brother ;D
Yeah was a shame he didn't have them:)
+StrikingScorpion82 did he know there would be water when making his list?
+The Eternal Crafter I would assume he didnt
No he didn't:) Neither of us did
Can't say I enjoyed this game.
I don't think there is anyone that do 40K maps better then Luke.
thanks for the comments:)
Beautiful armies and terrain in this one. Was really pleasing to see a new guard faction on the channel. I was worried for them as soon as I saw the match up though. A plucky display was the best they could hope for.
I love the terrain!!! (as always) The battlereport too. They are my favourites by now.
great..glad you enjoyed it:)
Unfortunately I think that battle was only ever going to go one way. Great game though guys. Loving the narrative as always Mr Scorp
Wraiths and ogryns have pretty much the same point cost. Yet the wraiths are drastically stronger in every regard. Balance?
This is 40k, there's no such thing as balance.
true
Yeah, they're not really balanced, but the Ogryns can also fire ranged weapons.
Also, with the overall result of the game, Luke is running a Decurion....
That was really annoying too. The catachan army was really cool and themed not focused on being to most powerful shit ever. So better bring a bullshit necron list. He could have won with half his army!
The one game where someone could actually use the Chimeras amphibious rule and he never had one in his list, I don't think we will ever see the day
lol:)
Great Report as always! Loved to see Catachans back on the table....and what a table in was! Beautiful!
thanks for the feedback:)
Just a suggestion for the Catachan player, next time you have first turn against Necrons target the spiders first. It really weakens the wraiths. Otherwise great looking armies and board, sad that the power level of the armies is so vast.
thanks Skipper, yes I made many tactical errors in this game. I'll be sure to put that right. Thanks for the advice it will be used :)
Sweet love to see fellow Guard players do well. Also your army is beautiful.
impressive to see units hold up to wraith in close combat they usually decide a game if they survive with real numbers
Dude, your battlefields are always off the hook. Half the reason I watch your bat reps is to enjoy your amazing terrain.
thanks:)
is it just me, or did the valk miss a huge opportunity to multi rocket pod the crap out of the bridge on turn 3?
So glad you at lease considered my Necron Name, Thank you Luke.
You made my Friday :).
The winning name is quite fitting as well.
No problem...came close to choosing it:)
Gorgeous table! So cool to see Catachans on a jungle board, would love to see this again but against tyranids

That table is GORGEOUS! I love the bridge.
On a side note I don't think that formation the guard player used was legal. The formation says you need 3 *squads* of tanks and a tank commander (which requires being in a squad of at least one other leman russ). This means you'd need at least 4 leman russes - which couldn't be run as a single squad.
I was thinking the same thing, this is at least a 4 lemen russes formation, this formation is not legal the way he's playing it!
+Gabriel Desjardins
Hello I'm Lawrie I played the catachans in this battle. Yeah I'm sorry I wrongly fielded the formation in this Battle, I do apologise, the list is being altered :)
Ohh no problem mate, except for this little mistake, the battle report was pretty dope, i'm also playing Catachans ;)
+Gabriel Desjardins
yeah it was great fun to play mate, I'm working on changes to the force. luckily the formation mistake didn't effect the game. if your able to mate check out the battle on the plus channel it's very cool
5 leman russes minimum. The tank commander needs a buddy and then 3 additional squadrons
Strikingscorpion82 but was that bridge based of Pegasus bridge because it looks very similar minus the 40k features, now that would be a interesting apocalypse battle say the guard and space marines have to take a bridge with an air assault force and a ground force while a Tau and/or Necron force hold the bridge like a bridge to far kind of battle
yes a Pegasus Bridge terrain set was used:)
ah right i thought so thanks
A punisher or two would have been pretty handy in this fight.
Also a manticore would have performed WONDERS against such a highly clustered enemy.
true:)
@@ianreiter835 on that bridge? just the dethstrike
Isn't it pronounced Kata-kan? Least thats what the staff at the local GW told me when i said catachan.
Interesting, I've been involved with 40K for almost two decades and I've always heard GW staff pronounce it as it was pronounced here. Never even heard of people pronouncing it Katakan until I read some of the comments here. I wonder if it's a regional thing.
cat-a-chan is how ive always heard it
cat-a-shan?
I think its viet-nam
Awesome loved watching every minute of that!
thanks...glad you enjoyed it:)
I really enjoy the story you put along with these reports. That table was as epic as the story, keep up the great work!!
No problem...glad you enjoyed it:)
That 4+ Reanimation Protocols (Feel No Pain) is just plain disgusting, a whole ARMY of that?? Even Tau or Eldar would have a hard time dealing with that! Let alone mid-tier armies!
Hahaha, Catachan arnt even mid-teir my friend, that are waaaaay down near the bottom.

Beautiful terrain and scenario, really enjoyed this video. RP side was brilliant, but it looks like the xenos filth wins yet again! Aghhhh
That is a fantastic gaming table :D
thanks:)
the terrain is trully amazing, very fitting for a catachan army...
Luke, I love you ( no homo ;D ), this was a masterpiece. Everything was perfect.
maybe your opponent would have appreciated a heads up on you bringing a competitive list.
Reanimation is broken. Imagine if Orks could Waaagh on every turn. Should be a one off ability or the Necrons come back with radically weakened stats
Yeah it's super annoying imagine if grey knights had re animation protocols how broken would at be lol
No, mate. As tough as they are, it's a real hoot when you beat them. That's what this game is all about. Strategy. When you defeat a balanced army it's good. When you defeat cheese... It's out of this world!! Am an Eldar player and am always beaten by good strategy. Am tired of people who can't beat them calling them over powered.
orks can waaagh every turn after the first if you use the ork warband formation.
Where is the Leman Russ formation listed? Only one I can see is TC + wingman, and 3 squadrons of Russ + Enginseer.
Wait. . . where's Marbo -?
Don't look now, but he's behind you.
Hi mate, I know I really hope Marbo gets some rules again, he's an iconic character. I do actually have the model, maybe he'll be added into the list, or he'll just sneak in without me seeing him. 😉😉😉
With marbo the bridge would be rigged to blow
Love your battle reports. I'm building my own necron force so I can make my own. Keep it up.
Also, that's some wicked terrain!
no problem...glad you enjoy the videos:)
Super cool to see some non-Cadian guard
This game was done before it even began... dope af Catachan models but the power level was not fair at all... if you brought a more middle tier army it would've been a way better game.
I daresay it wasn't so much that he was playing guard so much as the fact he brought an incredibly poorly thought out list. That list wouldn't be able to take on foot-slogging orks with no bikes and lootas.
Yeah i agree but its nice to see some variety instead of seeing the same old power gaming list... it gets boring in my opinion

what a tough pair of armies, both sides trading blow for blow
Amazing terrain!

yes they fought well:)
A double harvest decurion cron list vs fluffy guard? Really mate?
superb board !
but also.. catachans (cat-a-cans).
Just in the case he can't just take our word for it. www.games-workshop.com/Imperial-Guard-Catachan-Jungle-Fighters
well either you put the wrong link or see something I don't but that has nothing to do with pronunciation
He said Catchan, whereas it quite clearly states Catachan, note the extra a. He seems to have amended the thumbnail in the mean time.
sixty four minutes of necrons casually walking across a bridge...
pretty much... I'm sure my Chaos Eldar forces once done could do some work on this list, though admitedly im still getting used to the DE
Loved this, the board was amazing and both armies look superb. I'd love to give you a game with my catachans on a board like this it's perfect for them. Keep up the great work! Cheers.
thanks for the comments:)
i think the catachan player made a mistake when choosing the emperor's fist armoured company. the rules (page 43 of the mont 'ka rule book) says the formation needs;
1 tank commander
3 leman russ squadrons
1-3 enginseers
This means that at minium he needs 5 leman russ and 1 enginseer, 3 for 3 one tank squadrons and since the tank commander is his own unit (page 92 of the imperial guard codex "tank command must take a leman russ" and "tank commander must include 1-2 other leman russes") he needs at least 2.
Thought it was pronounced "cat ach en". I'm hearing "catch an".
Literally watching this in 2020.... HOW HAS THIS TAKEN ME SO LONG?
Question: Where tf did you get those trees?? :o
Full tutorial for making the palm trees on the channel:)
Love the terrain and set up. Very cinematic but this is a mis match game. No way an IG army is ever going to win against a Decurion list.
You're right, this IG list was doomed. Decurion is downright filthy as well. It's the strongest formation in the game, in my opinion.
np man I agree the list was weak and the decurian is probably the stongest formation.
Brilliant setting! Amazing game
+Aidan Sleath Never mind I just checked again and the Immortals were placed next to the wreckage.
Interceptor happens at the end of the movement phase
+loneleo09 ah thought so, so that would allow for them to disembark of course
Why didn't the IG player use orders?
i think he did in 1 turn and the lascannon ignored cover
I would love to see skyrays dotted around out of Los. and pathfinders to fire the seekers with a load of sniper drone teams!
Mickey Mouse, Fenix!
Who is this Mickey Mouse you speak of? One of gods of Chaos perhaps?
Fenix Reborn He's a character from the Skaven brood, Fenix.
Dan Egan
(snicker) Got it. Thx.
The story will be passed down from one generation to the next lol:)
What kits were used for the palm trees? They look great! Love the channel, great work as always.
They are made from scratch...I plan to do a tutorial for them:)
+StrikingScorpion82 please do! What are the leaves made of? Thanks again for the BatRep.
paper actually...will show all in the tutorial:)
Yes...really like the table...made by some of the talented guys at SSWG wargames club:)
I didn't even have to watch the Battle Report, based off the lists alone the Necrons had it in the bag. Not to criticize but perhaps take a more friendly army or list against a list like this next time? Would make for a much more enjoyable fight for everyone involved I'm sure.
This game was over before it started. Dude, how in the world was he gonna deal with all those wraiths? Save that list for Eldar.
This change both makes your army battle legal and much better yet still using the same models and keeping the theme going.
ok thanks for pointing that out:)
Looks amazing.
Doesn't that tank commander need a squad mate?
also, u cant take the voidreaver and gauntlet of the conflag on the same guy.
I can only imagine what those Scions might have been thinking...
"Command this is 5th squad we have just deep struck onto the bridg- AHAHAHAHAH NECRONS NOOAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaa..."
lol:)
AMAZING STORY AND TERRAIN.
Why didnt you pick 'Tim' ? :)
lol:)
Thanks Skipper, the list will be improved 🖒🖒🖒
Totally agree...I think IG would be better if GW gave them some really strong formations...like ones that let you recycle units would be great:)
+StrikingScorpion82 Oh wow, like apocalypse formations? Never thought of that. Now that would be a handful for any army 👍🏻
No I mean like really strong formations in the actual codex:)
for the montka formation for the Catachans, sorry to say but it is wrongly set up.
Is it me, or does the bridge look very reminiscent of Pegasus Bridge?
Come on, Luke, you brought a decurion and two canoptek harvests against an IG army? As an avid fan of your battle reports, and a variety of others as well, these neuron formations typically make for the least entertaining games.
Anyway, keep up the great work and just keep that in mind.
cat-a-chan is correct pronunciation.
this guard list did not make the most of the command swuads giving orders. surely that is what box casters are for. bring him down, fire on my target, etc
could also have done with a unit of conscripts under a commissar to do-or-die charge across the bridge. the ability to hold back the tide of necrons' by tying up front ranks in a melee attrition would have helped bunch up the necrons' ready for blast and ordnance attacks.
super terrain, love the gloss river effect. just missing a rope bridge or fallen tree log to dash infantry across.
A few tips for Lawrie Turner:
Don't put sponsons on a vanqusher tank.
Scorpion, are you still planning to start a guard army?
thanks for all the feedback. I'd start a IG army if GW did plastic Desert Raiders:)...or Valhallans!
I also feel it would behoove the Catachans, and be superior from a strategic standpoint to keep the Russ squadron firing from the tree line, utilizing what cover and concealment is available.
Would have been a whole different game if the guard took 3 demolishers.
I love your board! How do you do the water like that?
thanks. I think they used Yacht varnish:)
Did you use any of the old catachan codex rules? Like traps and stuff?
I don't think so:)
NANAnananaNANA CAT-CHAN!
tempestus scions from the AM codex need to be taken in platoons tho
Is it possible to buy those palmtrees somewhere? Awesome Channel & Terrain!! Thanks a lot!
Luke made them himself, Anna. He really should do a terrain tutorial video, hey.
Yes...I plan a tutorial for them soon:)
that is great terrain!!!
I really wish I could watch part 2. :/
Sly marbo:AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
That table is amazing. Where do you film most of your reports ?
This was filmed at SSWG (Southend-on-Sea Wargames Group) in Essex England. 😊👍
Yes....club terrain at SSWG....check out: www.sswg.co.uk
Just had a peek at your club, James. WOW!!
yeah they do some great stuff:)
Im honestly shocked catachans lasted that long against a reclamation legion and 2 canoptek harvests.
it's Pegasus bridge from the bolt action set
Great Batrep, as usual. Very nice to see Catachan fighters on the channel. The painting is well in the theme...very soothing for the eyes :)
One mistake, I think, is that the Wraith in turn 2 against the Ogryns on the bridge. You threw too many dice. There was only one Wraith left, and I think you threw 6 dice...resulting in the kiling of an Ogryn. This maybe could have changed a bit the end result
nevermind. Just noticed the one hiding under the bridge :)
thanks....glad you enjoyed it:)
pask punisher or demolisher cannon and plasma sponsons would have put the scare into the necrons
The terrain looked like it would provide a good fight, I was right :D
seems like the scenario favoured the necrons a bit but still a good game.
thanks. Yes was a tough one for the Catachans!:)
coool
That's a really beautiful board with some fine detail, who made it?
it is club terrain at SSWG:)
