The 90s easily was Disney's golden years for OSTs and theme songs.
Yes it really was. Susan Egan is brilliant. We know Paige, Jodi and the wonderful Lea are amazing...
@@julz3tt3 Yes! I won't say I'm in love is very underrated!
I recorded the songs on tape, also the muses parts just so I can always hear it!
I really love them!
😍😍💖👍 agreed
I agree
And 80s... but yes 90s and 80s... perfect golden years with good people and nice wonderful smart decent people. Unlike now.
Angela Lansbury became even more grandma and she instantly made me cry wtf she's so cute
Adorable
I have like a necessary to meet him
I just love her it just makes the song so much more comforting. I loved it when she sang it many years ago in the movie. But to about 2016 i just loved it even more love this lady.
She is an absolute legendary woman
On par with Betty White haha
Unpopular opinion: the Disney song hit harder then the movies themselves
How it is unpopular? Pretty accurate mate.
Very true for alot of the 80's 90's music in films personal experience grew up loving Mulan (because of Lea, Pinoy Pride) and reflection always made me emotional and when I saw the live action trailers I felt nothing until the Steings kicked in with the orchestral version of Reflection
Very true! Sometimes I’d only watch the movie to sing along. 🤣🤣🤣
But sir elton john did a pretty great job too
Well looks pretty popular to me
What really hurts is that most of these iconic Disney Movies came out nearly 30 years ago....
Celina0910 well kinda a kot is 22
How about merry poppins? (Sorry if the spelling is wrong i dont have a auto correct)
And with that you have made me feel old
Celina0910 - They certainly made my childhood magical! My very first movie in a movie theatre was when I was four, with my Dad - we went to see The Little Mermaid. It was magic! I spent every night for a year afterward listening to my Little Mermaid soundtrack tape. I went to see the Lion Ling for my 8th birthday party (after a pizza party of course) and it was amazing. My first broadway musical was Beauty and the Beast. First Karaoke song? A whole new world from Aladdin with one of my besties. I think that era of Disney movies was unparalleled. I didn't add a new favorite to my list until Moana in 2016. I can't wait to show my kids all of those magical movies.
pentagon_ Jinho You're really lucky you dont have autocorrect, It ruins everything, Your spelling is better then somebody who uses autocorrect's spelling, Just to correct you its spelt 'mary' not merry
Leah salonga is a legend her voice doesn't age or change she's amazing
Daisy Ackroyd
No!
I think she actually got better which I thought was not possible
@@elle_who_has_no_time3133 you a filipino or something?
Fun fact, the princesses on Disney contract are required to sound tone perfect to the original recording for every appearance. I don't think Lea Solonga is still on contract, she's just perfect, but think about Jodi Benson. At 58 she has to sound exactly like her voice did at 28 every time she performs as Ariel.
@@kellycore no im not sorry if i disappointed you
Lea Salonga, Judy Kuhn and Jodi Benson are truly the legends of Disney.
Dhrubo Ahmed plus Paige O’Hara
I don't know what happened to Judy Kuhn but she looks like she hasn't had a good night sleep since 1996

Facts, they are to the U.S. film industry what Asha Bosley is to Bollywood.
Can’t forget Julie Andrews! That Mary Poppins right there!!
This proved that you really need musical singers to sing, not pop stars.
Disney songs are not pop songs, duuuuh,
Brandon Le some of them are 😂
@@feedswagpeppa3976 name one...
Brandon Le sis I mean some of the song from Disney now are pop songs I don’t know about genre so search it up
@@feedswagpeppa3976 its genre is ballad for most of the songs, any Disney songs can be turned into pop songs, but they originally arent pop songs as they are used in the movies as musical like performance which needs a voice that is equal to musical voice to be able to perfect it in the movie, so none of the Disney songs were pop songs to start with
I had no idea that Lea did both Jasmine and Mulan! They are my favs!
She also did the onstage production of Les Misérables. She’s a legend 🙌
Right! I was so surprised when I found that out.
Neither did I
They do
That’s amazing!
RIP Samuel E Wright. What a legend. One of Disney’s most iconic voices

@@zikonrokarminrot636 yeah he passed last year in 2021 :(...
Circle of life with Lebo will never stop being a masterpiece that makes you want to scream the lyrics at the top of your lungs into the sky.
I hope that Disney got Lebo again for the Lion King remake.🦁
Tasha S I never once thought they WOULD NOT bring Lebo back, and now im legit scared they’re going to pull some bullshit. You can’t have Lion King without Lebo. That’s like saying want some peanut butter free Reese’s cups?
@@dakotaosmond8614 There's just certain nostalgic elements that need to remain in Lion King. Lebo singing Circle of Life is one of them. Thankfully it's been confirmed that James Earl Jones is returning as Mufasa.
funny thing about me is that when i'm tired in the office, i yawn so loud mimicking the intro of the song 😁 as long as our boss is not around 😊

Her voice didn't age...
As good as ever
Such a jewel that they had to crown her twice❤️ she’s so good.
Why is no one talking about Susan Egan? She has maintained Meg's voice which is impressive since it's a rougher voice
Susan Egan also originated Belle on Broadway! 😊🥀📚

Almost 30 years and Lea Solanga still sounds 100% the same. Most people’s voices change as they age but there no difference in her voice at all.
Edit: for those wondering I’m talking about her voice with Disney for 30 years. She was princess Jasmine also in 1992 and still sounds the same, so yes 30 years 🙄
I actually think she sound better than before!
100% agreed
@@jurijayb5984 because sound technology got better.
That's a person who not only has talent, but technique. So many talented people dismiss the techniques needed to keep their instruments in tip top shape and ruin their voices.
@@BloodNote i agree... she also had the technique which other singer misses that's why she still has that crystal clear voice that only became more mature that other singer don't have... and plus she doesn't sing songs that she know it's to high for her voice (although she can sing it and belt it)
We cannot deny that Lea Salonga's Reflection and Whole New World are legendary songs that made the movie hit itself.
Lea Salonga is still queen y'all . She literally doesn't age

Seeing how old Angela Lansbury looks hurts my heart a little. She's timeless, and I demand she also be ageless. She must live forever.
And I love hearing Jodi Benson talk about when she tells kids that she's Ariel, and the looks that come over their faces when she does her voice.
yea i teared up a bit
As of 2020 she is 94
Honestly the transition made me cry
She will go down in history
I remember that year. It was almost heartbreaking hearing her sing, because she sounded so weak. I thought that was pretty well the end for her. But I'd heard her since then, and she sounded much stronger. I don't know what was happening that night, but it was kind of scary.
Its amazing how well many of those singers maintained their voices. You could tell their voices had aged a bit, but most of them could still nail it! That takes a lot of work and effort.
Conventions probably play a part
Especially lea salonga... 🤗🤗😊😊
Fun fact: if you sing with the wrong technique you damage or at least change your voice long term.
The really good singers learned a proper singing technique that aims at improving and not damaging the singing voice. Many pop singers just learn enough to hit the notes and then do things their own way, with very mixed results.
@@Katharina-rp7iq 2 years later and having met someone who sang professional rock... you're right on the money! I flat out asked them how they could sing after a concert let alone after years of recordings, sessions, and touring, and your answer was pretty much the same. They learned how to sound wild but professionally and often already had quirks to their voices. The only thing he added was reasonable rest times and never forgetting it was a muscle and so working to keep it in shape. He also noted that in his profession at least... staying away from the drugs and excessive alcohol and mixed drinks. It makes sense too. The ones who made the news such as Whitney Houston at the end her voice broke my heart.
Lea Salonga's Voice is incredibly beautiful, back then and now! Also, Jodi Benson has a unique voice too and even now i can still hear the 'Ariel' in her voice. :P

Lea Salonga is an angel! Her voice is really magic. I think her voice didn't age as much as the others.
Asians don't age. Herbal tea is the main staple and eat like nothing but rice and small portions. Built like birds. They're just lucky and they're geniuses
@@lindseydickey9282 Asians age too, while it's true that many asians do have a healthy lifestyle, you can't generalize that, also Asia is such a big continent, 4.5 billion humans live there, and they don't just only drink tea and eat rice and small portions every day. It's kinda racist to think like that. By the way, most professional musical singers live healthy because living unhealthy is unhealthy for the voice and their voice is their basic of work. I think she's just technically good and her voice is more stable and that is what saved her from vocal damage and aging.
Filipinos (and many other Asians) have fantastic genes that result in a more youthful body, even when they're in their sixties.
And you're right, some Asians don't eat small portions, but rice is still a huge staple. In terms of being Filipino though, 98% are just musically inclined. 😂 With that, they're more dedicated with maintaining healthy cords.
Realistic explanation; Salonga hasn't slacked off. Many of those singers whose voices have suffered over the years have gone years without proper vocal training. Her style of singing probably helps, too, as bad vocal habits ruin vocal cords.

not always. Jodi Benson, Paige O'Hara, Susan Egan were both the speaking and singing voice. Irene Bernard was a good actress but Judy Khun was a good singer. Kristen Bell is both for Anna, it just depends. the more recent princesses have one performer who speaks and sings

Couldn't agree more. Celine, alongwith Whitney and Mariah is one of my favorite diva singers and in fact, has achieved the most longevity in vocal health of all the others. She's singing since the 1980's and now in 2018 she is still slaying, I'm so proud of her. I still want to have a technique like hers with which she can "WOW" people and still manage to sing for such a long time!
Thank you!
OMG! You are a fan of Trinity Vocal and you don't tell me! Even though it's impossible Mariah or Celine singing in a Disney movie, I really want if is to be real.

haah! YES! The vocal trinity of Whitney, Mariah and Celine was a force to reckon with! Sadly Whitney isn't with us anymore but Mariah and Celine singing in a disney movie together would be a dream come true for me really haha!
@Bree Crawford I couldn't agree more her voice was simply beautiful and dreamy
Out of the three Celine's the only one who actually took care of her voice which helps immensely, there's a noticeable decline but it's a natural decline that's not anywhere near as profound as Mariah's or especially Whitney's whose singing voice was pretty much ruined by the mid 2000s due to her hard drug abuse and heavy drinking and smoking.
