I definitely agree with you about Halloween Ends. I left the theater thinking man that was pretty good. Like you said I liked that they took some chances. I have watched it about 3 times since and still feel the same.
Yeah I hear ya! I saw it in the theater as well... took my boy to see it. It was his first in-theater horror movie experience, and we had a blast together with it. I've only seen it once since then, but I liked it just as much upon re-watch.
Great ranking Fuzz - because I’m newer to collecting physical media, I’ve not seen all these yet but I do have them all purchased as of this year. I intend to watch them all in sequence of release year and likely won’t get to a ranking of my own until next Halloween. But I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this. Will be interesting to see how close our thoughts are 😉👍🏼
Yeah the Halloween franchise is kind of a trip, because there are so many different timelines. Just keep that in mind when you're going through them. There are even charts out there on the internet laying out the different timelines, to cut down on the confusion LOL!
@@TheOriginalFuzz - I honestly only think to this point I’ve seen the OG and then the most recent Halloween ends. It will be fun to explore them all beginning to end. As you know, I’m mostly new to horror as you know so I feel like such a dweeb saying I haven’t seen most of these but I get it will make it all the more fun as an adult now going through all this - might need those online timeline reference points lol so thank you for the suggestion.

Great list and video as always fuzz!! I agree with a lot of your list but would drop ends pretty low and raise 4 up but everything else I agree with. Even not including the Zombie films lol
Please do one on the Nightmare on Elm St franchise! That would be amazing and I’d love to see what others think is the best order.
Hey Fuzz! I think the DGG films are unfairly maligned as well. I don't think they work very well as a cohesive story, and character arcs, specifically Laurie's, don't really work for me. But as stand alone movies, I actually like all 3 of them. I personally like them in order, 2018 - Kills - Ends, but I think they're all well done Halloween stories and taken on their own all work really well for me. I would also encourage you to check out the RZ movies. The first 1/3 - 1/2 of his first film is pretty bad, but after that, once it becomes essentially a remake of the Carpenter Halloween, I think it's pretty awesome. I liked the second one also, but it's a very unique take on the sequel (he really swung for the fences, and in my opinion, MOSTLY hit the mark). But if Halloween is your favorite of the "The Big 3" slasher franchises, I think you owe it to yourself to at least give them a watch or 2 and see what you think once you've taken it all in. It may depend slightly on your opinion of Zombie's work as a whole, but I think they're fun for what they are. Anyway, the ranking was fun to watch, and I agree with a lot of it. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah I will probably check out the Zombie films at some point. But I'm just not interested in his vision... or remaking the whole thing as opposed to just doing sequels. I've heard some people really like his second Halloween film because he took some big swings and really went outside the box. And I can respect that he did that. But I'm just not sure it's for me. For that matter, I don't think I've ever seen anything from Rob Zombie that I actually like... though admittedly, I've not seen much. Thanks for watching my ranking! And it's great to hear that you don't hate the DGG films either. Sometimes it's easy to feel like I'm on a bit of an island with my views, but I know there are others out there who agree.
Great video ! Despite loving the original 1978 movie (and having seen it a few times) I don't think I've seen any of the sequels at all ! I think it all got a bit "out of hand" and confusing ! Watching your video and then taking a look at IMDB it seems we have three movies called "Halloween" and two movies called "Halloween II"...we have Jamie Lee Curtis playing the same (ish) character in 7 movies which are kinda split between at least three different "eras" and four different directors, we have Donald Pleasance playing the same character in 5 movies, 3 of which do not include Jamie Lee Curtis and we have one movie that arguably has no place being in the franchise at all because it doesn't even include the central character of the franchise ! My biggest take from all of this is that I really want to watch Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981) and Halloween III (1982) on 4K now 🙂
Yeah the timelines can get a little crazy and confusing with this franchise. It helps to think of it as kind of a "choose your own mystery/story" situation (kind of like those old "choose your own mystery" books). I will choose to watch one timeline over another, depending on my mood. I actually started off only collecting certain Halloween timelines... and then I expanded my collection to include other timelines. Halloween 1,2,3 are a must watch every year and the others get a revisit from time to time. Not really into the new ones
Yeah my plan is to rewatch the first 3 myself on/around Halloween this year. I'm only a few years into my horror journey, so still developing my own traditions, etc. lol.

Cool list... great to see another David Gordon Green fan here! You should definitely check out Halloween III though when you get the chance... it really is a great ride. If you go into it expecting just a solid stand-alone horror film with no connection to Michael Myers, I think you could have a lot of fun with it. Thanks for watching!
I love these rankings videos! Completely agree on the Zombie Halloween movie. I say movie because the first one was so nasty and mean spirited i never even tried to watch the second one. His overall style is just not appealing. A bunch of trashy characters shouting obscenities at each other for the first 20 minutes is the worst possible way intrigue viewers and is not even marginally entertaining. Unless you like trailer trash family drama, i guess.
As far as the big 3 franchises go, i don't know that i could necessarily pick my favorite since they really are so different in tone and i get hankerings for each one every now and again. The original Halloween is definitely the best first film of the big 3 though. John Carpenter rules!
Exactly... I totally agree. I'm just not into Zombie's style, and as such, I have no interest in seeing really much of anything he puts out.

@@TheOriginalFuzz I almost went with it as my number 1 and thought I’d get slaughtered in the comments. This might sound weird but I think it’s the most John Carpenter feeling film of all the Halloween films, even though he didn’t direct it. It’s a shame it’s called Halloween and not something else. It’s to the Halloween franchise what Ecorcist III is to the Exorcist franchise. That is it stands alone as its own thing and doesn’t really need the franchise name attached to it, in fact it probably holds both films back.
@@captaintrips2470 I think a lot of Halloween fans have come around to H3 in recent years or are starting to. I've come across a number of other people who feel the same way and even rank it as their favorite in the franchise. It's damn near that high for me too... certainly one of my favorite stand-alone horror films. Tom Atkins rules! Lol!

That's a great trilogy! I don't even bother watching Resurrection after H20... I prefer to end it at H20 as well.

@@stuartgeorge2324 Yeah that's exactly my thinking. I totally see it becoming a cult classic among Halloween fans. It may take a few years, but I do think many fans are going to re-assess Ends more favorably once some time has passed.

I am not a fan of the last three not because of any reason other than they all three suck.
