I honestly don't know what my Top 25 movies would be. I have so many. I would have to definitely think about it. This would be a good community thread for the physical media content creators.
Here is my own list, it was a difficult task to accomplish! Predator (1987), 2. Alien (1979), 3. Aliens (1986), 4. RoboCop (1987), 5. The Thing, 6. Conan the Barbarian (1982), 7. Dawn of the Dead (1978), 8. First Blood (1982), 9. Mad Max 2 (1981), 10. Rocky (1976), 11. Escape from New York (1981), 12. Terminator (1984), 13. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), 14. Jaws (1975), 15. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), 16. Starship Troopers (1997), 17. Halloween (1978), 18. Maniac (1980), 19. Suspiria (1977), 20. The Fly (1986), 21. Evil Dead 2 (1987), 22. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), 23. Blade Runner (1982), 24. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), 25. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978).
Awesome list! I see we both hold many of the same films in high regard. Very cool! And yeah I totally get it... it's tougher than it seems to put a list like this together, especially when we have so many movies that we love. Thanks for watching and chiming in with your choices. I really like your list.
49:26 awesome picks we've got more in common than I thought 😂... Great choices I won't say any of them because I don't wanna spoil it for everyone else ✌🏽
It's good to know I own most of the films mentioned in this video! I think only one or two of my top 10 favorite movies made it into your top 25 films, lol! But the ones you listed are quite loved by me as well! Great picks!
Hell yeah I wanna see 26-50. Keep it going. I also want to see the other videos you considered, as well. Especially the 80's nostalgic films. Great work.
Awesome! Thanks so much for the feedback! Yeah there were so many movies that I had a hard time choosing between, because I feel like I appreciate them all equally, you know? So for some titles, it was a little challenging trying to figure out which ones might make the top 25 vs. the top 50. So the more I think about it, I'm thinking I will definitely do that... even just for my own curiosity (to see what the final result is after all my pondering lol). Thanks for watching man!
Great list Fuzz! Not sure what my top 25 would be, but I do know my number 1 favorite is David Lynch's Mulholland Drive. Such a great, deep, and heartbreaking film. Your pics are all great watches too! I'll have to check out Almost Famous
I don't think I've ever seen Mulholland Drive. I will have to put that on my list to check out at some point. And yes, Almost Famous is such a great movie. Kind of unique too, but definitely highly recommended. It's really thoughtful and well-done. Thanks so much for chiming in and of course for watching. Great to see you!
I swear you and I have nearly the same exact tastes. I could fall asleep to the comfort of Alien and Aliens... Also, Rambo in 4k looks amazing in the finals scenes at night. Completely makes the ending of the movie more dramatic and serious. cheers
Very cool! Yeah there's definitely a high comofort factor for me with the first couple Alien movies. i never get tired of them, and they're kind of go-to titles for me if I can't decide what to watch sometimes. Thanks so much for watching!
I need True Romance in 4k in the worst of ways! Amazon has a special edition that they advertised as 4K but all the reviews say it's just a Blu-ray. Your top 25 gave me at least three more movies I have to get in 4k. Thanks Fuzz!
That's great to hear! Thanks so much for watching. There are multiple editions of True Romance in 4K from Arrow. They did like two different types of chunky LE box sets, and they did also put out a "special edition" (i.e. standard edition) 4K for this title. I think my box set is out of print now, but the special editions 4K's should be out there. In fact, here are a couple Amazon options for you, if interested. The first one is the all-region special edition 4K (amaray case). It's about $30: www.amazon.com/True-Romance-UHD-Blu-ray-4K/dp/B09GJHSPHV The second one is a limited edition rigid "chunky" box set (no steelbook, just an amaray case inside the slipcase). It's $38: www.amazon.com/True-Romance-Limited-4K-Ultra/dp/B09X1X2S7G That's a pretty good price for an LE box set. Might be worth taking advantage of if you'd like something a little extra special for this title. It's a great-looking 4K.
Thanks Fuzz I have always been a physical media collector. I slowed down when streaming took over. I appreciate you making it easy to jump back into the 4K world for my favorite movies!
Thank you so much for a great video. I will definitely be adding a bunch of your favorites to my Amazon wishlist. 👍😎😎 I will be getting that awesome Close Encounters you showed. So 😎 cool‼️
Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I really appreciate it. And yes, that Close Encounters 4K set is killer. I think you'll dig it. Love that film!
Great list, Fuzz and a fun watch as always! I actually own all of your top 25 movies so you have great taste😉 I love and own movies across all genres and time going back to the silents era(thank you, Kino Lorber!!), but heavily weighted toward action, horror, and romance. For my top films, i tend towards those that are very emotionally impactful to me and also rewatchability is a huge plus. The only one of your list i couldn't get into was Close Encounters. I bought the 4K version having never seen the film and it just wasn't made for me, though it is obviously a very well made movie. As far as Die Hard goes, i actually love the first 4 about equally and someone could throw any of those in at random and i would be a very happy camper. i think Die Hard 2 may be one of the most unfairly maligned sequels in film history. Love Bill Sadler in anything and he was a great villain in DH2. Anyway, i am sure my list would probably be soundly mocked by most movie buffs but this is my top ten. 1.Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 2. It's a Wonderful Life 3. Silver Linings Playbook 4. The Lord of the Rings 5. Ikiru 6. Big Trouble in Little China 7. Whiplash 8. Casablanca 9. Shawshank Redemption 10. Alita Battle Angel
Thanks so much! Great to see you again! Glad to hear you enjoyed the list. I'll be the first to admit there are certain genres I don't really get into as much, but I've got big respect for those who have diverse tastes in movies. As for Close Encounters, I grew up with that one, so I have a bit more nostalgia for it. But I can totally understand how it might not be for everyone. Totally agree with you about Die Hard 2... Sadler was awesome in it. I think it's a decent follow-up, and I always enjoy watching it every year around the holidays. Thanks for sharing your Top 10. Shawshank almost made my Top 25... it was very close. Love that film... saw it in the theater when it first came out. Also, I just watched Whiplash about 2 weeks ago for the first time with my son (who's a drummer). Fantastic film!! Thanks for weighing in!
Holy crap! Another Marillion fan?!? That's awesome! I believe you're the first fellow fan I've encountered in association with this channel (you're the first to have noticed/pointed out the Marillion in my collection, I think). I am a HUGE fan... they are one of my top 2 favorite bands of all-time. My wife and I even had to opportunity to attend Marillion Weekend 2009 in Montreal... it was a pivotal, life-changing experience for us as far as music goes. I think Brave and Marbles are masterpieces (although let's face it... all their albums are good). I could probably spend all day talking about Marillion with you LOL. Thanks so much for watching and chiming in!
Oh yes, love that film! Big time re-watch value for me. I don't hear a lot of people talk about it as much either, but I was super excited when I first found out this title was coming to 4K. Kino did a great job with it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Most of your picks are the same as mine but True Romance is the stand out one I missed when it came out but found it a few years ago such a great film. The score is very underrated and give me a heist film any day. I totally agree Die Hard’s sweet spot is really the 1st three and I dig the 3rd more than the 2nd. Great list
Totally enjoyed, thank you. I don't think I could list a top 25, but could do a top 100. After the first 5, 6 through 100 all in a jumble. My top 5 all time favorites as of right now off top of head...The Graduate, Planet of the Apes, Blade Runner, 2001 A Space Odyssey, The Shinning. This top 5 could easily change depending on my mood.
Right on!! Thanks Ryan, I really appreciate that. And yep, I definitely do love those movies... never get tired of them. Classic stuff. And Cameron's one of my faves ever!! Such an amazing director. I think he gets too much shit from people sometimes... the dude is a massive innovator, and he's always been on the cutting edge of tech with all his films. Thanks so much for watching and becoming a Fuzz Club member... I'm super grateful for the support!
@@TheOriginalFuzz Absolutely you're welcome. Cameron is my favorite Director!! i agree with you, He's innovator and genius. True Romance is my favorite movie. your videos are fantastic.
i was also going to tell you that a top 25 would be hard i can give you my top 10 but 11 -25 I have to really think about that. my top ten would be in this order 1. True Romance, 2. Goldfinger,3. The OG Star wars trilogy, 4.Die Hard, Raiders Of the Lost Ark. 6.T2, 7.The Matrix Quadrilogy, 8. Aliens & The Big Lebowski, 9. The Dark Knight & Gladiator, 10. Blade Runner,Titanic and Armageddon. I have the despecilized editons of the OG star Wars trilogy on blu ray. That the only way I will watch them. I'm with i can't stand the changes Lucas made to those. The CGI looks terrible!
@@rc12078 yeah my Top 25 was the same way... it was pretty tricky, harder than I thought it would be. The first 10 were not too hard, but 11-25 got tough... because you don't want to leave anything important out the top 25 lol. Cool list though! Great choices.
You're gonna love it dude. Do you already have the Sony 4K? If so, I think you'll really appreciate the difference between the two. I was even surprised when I first watched mine, because I didn't expect to see that big of a difference. But everyone had told me this was the one to get, so I eventually took the plunge myself and double dipped LOL. Thanks for watching my friend!
Thanks John! That's awesome. Yeah I'm not surprised we have some overlap. Especially with us both being huge Terminator fans (just for starters). Thanks for watching my friend!
Oh yeah I love that film. So rewatchable too! I never get tired of seeing it. Love Edward Norton's performance in that! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Interesting picks! Also, you've convinced me to watch Matrix Resurrections. I've stayed away for the longest time due to certain reviews and opinions I read online but the fact that you enjoy the whole of the Matrix trilogy like me and you liked Resurrections anyway? That means I gotta give it a shot sometime. Thanks!
You definitely should give Resurrections a shot! I think it got a really bad wrap. Now of course, it's nowhere near as good as the original, and it is a flawed film. It's not perfect. But, it's also a lot of fun... especially if you're into the trilogy and the whole world-building and mythology, then there's actually quite a bit in Resurrections to sink your teeth into... in terms of thoughtfulness and social commentary/subtext, etc.. What I found is that repeat viewings really help with Resurrections, and it's a movie that really can be open to interpretation. I got a lot more out of the movie the second time I watched it than I did the first time (even though I still liked it the first time, there's a lot of little stuff than can be missed on the first viewing). And I've heard other people say that too... that they actually liked the film more after they watched it a second or even third time.
@@TheOriginalFuzz Very interesting. I'll give it a shot on streaming first. I hope I like it! The Matrix was the biggest movie of my teenage years so I'll always have a soft spot for that series.
@@cloudtx Yeah if you're a big fan of the franchise in general (i.e. the trilogy prior to this), then I think you'll probably like it at least somewhat. Streaming is a great idea to try before you buy... but if you do end up liking it enough to want to add it to your collection, I can tell you the 4K disc is absolutely stunning. I think they shot the movie in like 8K or 6K, and we get a really nice looking 4K transfer as a result.
@@TheOriginalFuzz Will keep that in mind. Thanks! Let's hope we get a new T2 4k transfer soon btw! Also, like you, I prefer the original Terminator (it's my favorite in the franchise) and can't wait for that to get a 4k! Fingers crossed!
Great video, thanks for sharing your favorite films. I love Close Encounters, phenomenal film. Escape from Alcatraz is very good too (I love Don Siegel films). I love John Carpenter films also (The Thing and Escape From New York also at the top for me). Completely agree with your thoughts on Heat, one of my all time favorite heist films (love seeing Pacino and De Niro on screen together for the first time). Would love to see more of your favorites.
Thanks Dave! Really appreciate you watching and chiming in! And glad to hear some of my choices resonated with you as well. Yeah the films you mentioned... so good. I just love 'em! All of those are titles I never seem to get tired of watching.
You have a lot of great movies on your list. For me personally I would have a couple Tarantino movies like pulp fiction and Jackie Brown. I would also have to put Robocop on my list and Rocky Horror Picture Show would be on there as well. Great list though
Nice list there. I love a lot of those same films and many of them would be in my top 25 as well though probably in a different order for some of them. I'd probably have Conan the Barbarian somewhere high up the list as well as The Time Machine (with Rod Taylor not the Guy Pearce one) and Journey to the Centre of the Earth (the 1959 one obviously!). I might have Enemy Mine in there somewhere as well as the Back to the Future trilogy (love my time travel stuff) and the original Indiana Jones trilogy would also be high up. But no 1 for me is easily The Lord of the Rings trilogy. My favourite book so I guess it makes sense they are my favorite films. Brilliant adaptations that really honoured the source material. Unlike the recent TV show 🤢. Agree with you on De Niro btw. Cheers.
Thanks for your list, entertaining watch. Most of my all-time favs didn't crack your list. Sampling of my favs: 1). Star Wars Original Trilogy - primarily ESB 2). Back to the Future 3). Fast Times at Ridgemont High 4). Aliens 5). Karate Kid 1 & 2 6) Princess Bride 7) Casablanca 8) Terminator 2 9) The Godfather 10) Top Gun 11) Pulp Fiction 12) Raiders & Last Crusade...
Thanks for the heads up about that Close Encounters swag box still being available on Amazon! I had been considering grabbing a copy on the bay but because of your video I didn't have to although it does say "Frequently Returned Item". Hopefully they don't send me someone's returned copy lol.
Yeah I noticed that too on the Amazon listing. I'm not sure why that would be, but I wouldn't worry about it. I didn't have any problem with mine when I got it. It was all sealed with cellophane, etc. If you do happen to get one that looks like something is not right, just return it and exchange. But it's a cool little collectible. When I first saw someone display it on social media a couple years back, I knew I just had to have it! LMAO!
frequently returned because when the price drops 10$ the day after buying it, everyone returns their first copy since Amazon doesn't price match but they do allow you to return items
Great video again fuzz, speed is a great film. I used to have a crush on Sandra bullock when I was about 16. Had a massive poster of her on my bedroom wall
yeah i saw that in the theater when it first came out, and at the time, I had never heard of Sandra Bullock before... but she definitely made an impression with that one LOL! I think many of us had a big crush her around that time lol. Thanks for watching and chiming in!
Love your list here, there’s so many in my collection it be hard to list them myself, I know for sure Jurassic park would be up there and probably mad max fury road, as always, great video and love your enthusiasm
I own the Star Wars de-specialized editions on Blu Ray and they don’t look great, but I like seeing what the unaltered scenes look like cut in. The special features may be my favorite parts of the de-specialized editions and I didn’t know that they were available on 4K though.
Yeah I think there are a couple different 4K restorations going around from different sources. It's kind of confusing to me, so I need to do a bit more research on it to find out what's what and how to get it. It would've been nice if Lucas had had the foresight to recognize the limits of what of what he was doing with all the CGI. What may have been considered a bit more state-of-the-art at the time the visual effects were created now looks a bit dated and doesn't mix all that well with the original in-camera practical sets, set pieces, etc. Anyway thanks for the feedback. I've definitely been curious about the de-specialized editions and the more recent emergence of unaltered 4K versions.
Mate ,well I never! I bought the Special Edition of Close Encounters or 3rd Kind, on Marketplace BNIB about 6 months ago. I have since watched it twice now in that period.Little did I know that it came with music and light gimmick .Thanks for that relay.
Awesome list! You've inspired me to sit down and think about my top 25 and do a video! I'll tag you and give you a shout out when I put it together! By the way, I agree about De Niro, he was a great actor but he's off his rocker these days lol
Thanks Chase! Yeah definitely tag me... I'd love to check it out. It was fun putting it together, but a little challenging lol. BTW, I'm getting ready to dig into your latest video on Exploitation films and horror. What a great topic! Definitely piqued my interest.
@@TheOriginalFuzz oh awesome! Hope you have some fun with it! I was hoping some folks would find that topic interesting... I'll tag you on my top 25 for sure but boy oh boy, it is a surprisingly difficult and intense list to make LOL
@@AVAPopCulture Yeah it is. It kind of took me by surprise. I found my top choices were pretty easy, but once I got past about 8 or 9, it started to get a lot more difficult... because there are so many films I like equally as much.
Here are my Top 25 Films of all time in the best 4k transfers, in no particular order: 1. 2001: A Space Odyssey 2. Jaws 3. Close Encounters of the Third Kind 4. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 5. Ran 6. Apocalypse Now 7. Cool Hand Luke 8. The Maltese Falcon 9. Titanic 10. Raiders of the Lost Ark 11. Saving Private Ryan 12. Casablanca 13. Top Gun Maverick 14. Robocop 15. The Roaring Twenties 16. Alien 17. Blade Runner 18. Carrie 19. The Dark Knight 20. Fargo 21. The Big Lebowski 22. Dracula 23. Scarface 24. The Godfather 25. The Godfather II
Very cool! Some really solid choices in your list. I own quite a few of those titles, so even though they may not have made my Top 25, they're still great films that I'm glad I have in my collection. And I'm already starting to think about 26-50 LMAO! Thanks for watching and sharing your list!
Thanks for sharing your list. Heat and The Terminator are both in my top 10 too. You were lucky to see Terminator in the theater. The first R film I saw in the theater with my dad was Aliens.
Yea, I'll admit, Return of the Jedi is the only one from the Star Wars trilogy that's not in my top 25, in all fairness it wasn't nearly as good as the 1st 2, so I don't feel it's fair to cheat like that, but whatever you felt. I see you started this video recently, I recently discovered my top 25 and that's why I've been looking @ other people's, but yeah, it was hard to put together. Right now I'm thinking about putting some honorable mentions, but I'm not sure yet whether they're exactly the next movies after 25, but I'm just debating if I'll temporarily put them in there. Anyway, here's my list: 1. Forrest Gump 2. Good Will Hunting 3. Ground Hog Day 4. Mask of Zorro 5. Boyz N the Hood 6. Back to the Future 7. Pulp Fiction 8. Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back 9. Star Wars, A New Hope 10. Goodfellas 11. The Karate Kid 12. Raiders of the Lost Ark 13. The Fellowship of the Ring 14. Terminator 2: Judgement Day 15. Shawshank Redemption 16. Aliens 17. Silence of the Lambs 18. The Dark Knight 19. Rear Window 20. The Princess Bride 21. Blazing Saddles 22. The Wolf of Wall Street 23. The Good, the Bad & the Ugly 24. Shrek 2 25. Shrek
Love your list. Goin to give The Rock a rewatch tonight. One of the best action films all time. Almost Famous ive never seen, but ill give it a chance.
Yeah I was revisiting The Rock myself just last night after I got done editing this video. Made me want it on 4K even more. such a damn good film. Easily Michael Bay's best. Almost Famous is so good... but it's a different kind of movie, of course. More of a slice-of-life music odyssey about this kid who gets a break writing for Rolling Stone magazine and following this fictional band on tour, getting a crash course on the reality of touring and life behind the scenes. I think it's semi-autobiographical... inspired by how Cameron Crowe got his start as a music journalist before becoming a film director. But if you've seen any of Cameron Crowe's previous films (notably, "Say Anything" or "Singles," etc.), then this is very much in his signature style and has many of his trademarks. But I think Almost Famous is his best film. Really great story and characters. If you're a music fan at all, you'll probably really dig it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Crowe's work. But I'll start with this film (Almost Famous). For me I grew up watching Rockstar starring Mark Wahlberg. Don't know how popular it was received by audiences, but I digged it. Keep up the great work with your channel. Look forward to your review of The Rock when we do eventually get it. Fingers crossed with Dolby Vision and Atmos 🤞
Yeah it was definitely harder than I thought it would be. What I found was the top 10 was pretty easy, but once I got into 11-25, it was much harder for me to choose which films would make the top 25 vs. which films would sit just outside the top 25. That's why I think I'm gonna do a part 2 video at some point for 26-50. I've still got other films that I probably like equally as much as a some I put in my top 25. Thanks Stuart!
Some nice choices Fuzz, especially True Romance, Speed, Alien and the original Star Wars Trilogy. Like your wife I also love Almost Famous - 2 girls who think alike there . For me I would add: Blow Out Fargo Pulp Fiction The Long Goodbye The Big Lebowski In the Heat of the Night Three Days of the Condor Lone Star Jaws Ronin Shaft (original) Blade Runner (and I don’t particularly like Sci-Fi) Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Have you seen any of those? What did you think?
Ooo! Nice choices! Funny you should mention Three Days of the Condor... that's actually my other favorite Robert Redford movie along with The Natural. I have the Kino Lober 4K too, and just love it. Me and that film go way back... very rewatchable for me. I also love Blow Out, which may make my 26-50 list. I need to see Heat of the Night... I've never seen it, but I'm intrigued. And of course, I'm a big fan of Ronin as well... that's right during what I consider DeNiro's "prime" (or at least, my favorite era for DeNiro), when he made Heat, Ronin, and The Score within a few years of each other. My favorite DeNiro movies. and yeah, Almost Famous is just a really special movie for me. Really hit me hard the first time I watched it. Great stuff! Thanks for weighing in!
@@TheOriginalFuzz oh, In the Heat of the Night is an incredible film. From Rod Steiger, Sydney Poitier, Lee Grant and Warren Oates to the director Norman Jewison, producer Walter Mirisch, cinematographer Haskell Wexler and editor Hal Ashby its quality from start to finish. Oh, and an outstanding score by Quincy Jones. If you get the Kino Lorber 4K, it includes the two follow up films featuring Sydney Poitier’s Mr. Tibbs character. An amazing release that uses Criterion’s 4K transfer and colour grading. It’s a very special film and a must have in any collection.
Awesome list Fuzz. You made your picks seem so easy. Confident in all your picks. I had a harder time with 25. After 10 they all mesh together. Lol. Here are my top 10 for your enjoyment. Lol. 10 - Prisoners 9 - Jaws 8 - Mad Max Fury Road 7 - Titanic 6 - Prey 5 - Dunkirk 4 - The Greatest Showman 3 - Ford v Ferrari 2 - The Dark Knight 1 - Braveheart My honorable mentions would be Disney's Lion King and Oppenheimer.
Thanks so much Dwayne! I totally know what you mean... the first 10 were fairly easy for me, but it got a lot more difficult after 10. That's why I thought it might not be a bad idea to do a part 2 video for 26-50 at some point. Because there are some titles in my top 25 that I probably like equally as much as other titles I wasn't able to include. Anyway, thanks for sharing your Top 10. Some great choices there. I don't think I've ever seen Prisoners (the Denis Villeneuve film, right?), so I'm gonna put that one on my list to check out. And I still have yet to watch Fury Road... I own it as part of my Mad Max 4K set, but I never got around to watching it. I may have to pop that one in pretty soon, because I've heard good things about it. Thanks for watching and chiming in my friend! Great to see you as always.🙂
@TheOriginalFuzz would definitely like to see a part 2. I actually enjoyed your picks from 11 to 25 because your top 10 were pretty predictable, lol. Called Aliens before I even clicked on the video. Lol. Yes, you are right about Prisoners, all his movies are excellent, but Prisoners stays with you a while. It is actually a hard movie to watch, but so damn good. I can almost bet you have never seen the Greatest Showman. I could be wrong, though. I had no interest what so ever, but my oldest son, who is big in theater, really wanted to see it with me, so we all went as a family. I have watched in multiple times since, and the 4k is spectacular. It was the first movie I have ever watched in a theater that received applause. It was a very cool moment. I am very excited to see the new Mad Max. Hearing excellent reviews about it.
@@dwaynesager1864 Yeah that's why I made it a Top 25 list... for regular viewers, I figured my Top 10 would be pretty predictable. I wanted to be able to hopefully throw in a few choices you guys hadn't heard me talk about as much. And you're right, I haven't seen the Greatest Showman. I will add that one to my list as well to check out. Thanks for the tip!
@TheOriginalFuzz BTW, I loved hearing the story of you and your dad taking in a double feature. I have similar memories and hope one day my kids will too.
I've never seen quite a few of these films... Almost Famous, The Score, Scent Of A Woman, Man On Fire, Heat I'll give them a try. I love Die Hard With A Vengeance.. I like films set up as puzzles. It confused my a bit how you did Star Wars trilogy, and Die Hard Trilogy, and mixed Matrix together, but then split up Terminator 2 and 1, and Aliens 1, and 2.
That's just how I felt like doing this particular list. When I make my list videos, some entries are single films, while other entries consist of multiple films. The Alien and Terminator movies are my all-time favorite films, so they were definitely going to each receive a dedicated entry. But with something like the Star Wars original trilogy, I saw all three in the theater as a kid when they first came out, and when I reflect back on them, I think of them as a singular experience. I would never watch only the original Star Wars without watching the other two in the trilogy to complete the story. With the Matrix films... the entry is for the entire franchise as a whole, not just the first film (in other words, going against the grain of those who are only interested in the first film, but not the rest of the story). That's just how I roll with my list videos. I'm flexible with the parameters Lol! Anyway, yeah, definitely give those films a try. They're excellent. Thanks for watching!
IV been doing some hard collecting recently and got a haul today in fact I got the Predator 4 film collection on Blu Ray, the Taken trilogy on Blu Ray, The Raimi trilogy on Blu Ray, AVP 2 film collection on Blu Ray and Madam Web Steel Book edition in 4K
Hi Fuzz, Star Wars trilogy out of the Top10? And Matrix trilogy instead of so high? That is a shocker to me ;-). But thank you for your top list, I like this rankings very much. Here are my current favorite movies (Star Wars and Lord of the Rings trilogy are not included, because top 15 would be full of this movies): If I were to take the whole trilogy, they would be around fourth to sixth place. 1. The Big Lebowski 2. Apocalypse Now Redux or Final Cut 3. Rocky I 4. Pulp Fiction 5. Forrest Gump 6. Ed Wood 7. It's a Wonderful Life 8. Taxi Driver 9. Rear Window 10. Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 11. Coming to America 12. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 13. Casablanca 14. The Godfather l 15. Braveheart 16. Fight Club 17. Goodfellas 18. Seven Samurai 19. Back to the Future 20. The Good The Bad and The Ugly 21. The Shining 22. Annie Hall 23. Dirty Dancing 24. Raiders of the Lost Ark 25. Parasite 26. Dances with Wolves 27. The Dark Knight 28. When Harry met Sally 29. The Bad News Bears 30. Jaws Greetings Oliver
Great video Fuzz ! I think there are 10 movies here that I don't really care for or think are "good" but not great but we all have different tastes ! The other 15 are all fantastic choices in my book and would be contenders on my own list. I was particularly happy to hear your love for "Almost Famous" (superb movie and I also love/prefer the "Bootleg cut"), "True Romance" (just a fantastic movie on so many levels, particularly with characters/cast/performances), "The Matrix" (ofc !), "Star Wars" (ofc ! but I have to give a shout out to "Return of the Jedi" I honestly love that movie and think it's even better than IV, for me it's V > VI > IV but we're splitting hairs, it's just an awersome trilogy all round), The Terminator and T2 (what a superb steelbook you have !). I'm not sure "The Fifth Element" would make my top25 but it would be getting up there, I have that same Studio Canal 4K slip edition, I also have the Studio Canal 4K Zavi Steel book edition (I must like this movie cos I've owned it on DVD, Blu-ray and now 2x on 4K ! I also saw it at the cinema when it first came out ! it just gets better with every viewing !), I like "First Blood" a lot but for me the best in the franchise was "Rambo" (not the 2nd movie, the fourth one from 2008...I was so surprised by that one !). I love "The Abyss" and think the 4K is decent, I love "Aliens" but I'm afraid I'm not a fan of that 4K, I prefer the original Blu-ray myself (I think it's clear that we literally don't all see/perceive digitial "enhancement" in the same way, it's not a "philosophical debate" I think our experiences are fundamentally different, for some reason some of us see and appreciate the "extra detail" and some of us see something very "unnatural looking" that we find hard to enjoy, regardless, it's a great movie whether you watch it on 4K or Blu-ray and would be in my top25 also !). "Man on Fire" is very underrated, great to see the love for that one. "Die Hard" is a classic, I gotta say that I really did enjoy the 2nd one but for some reason I never thought the third one was in the same league, I've literally only seen that third one once (at the cinema) but I must give it another view because several people now have told me it's much better than I remember. A few movies that would definitely be in my top25 that didn't make your list would be "Pulp Fiction", "Forrest Gump", "Excalibur", "Blade Runner", "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" and "Conan the Barbarian". I'd love to see your 26-50 ! Once again, great video Fuzz ! Keep up the good work ! 🙂👍
Thanks for all the great feedback! I think we're doing pretty good if we share a love for 15 of my choices. That's great common ground!😉 As for some of your choices, I certainly love Blade Runner and Pulp Fiction... it's possible there may be some Tarantino in my 26-50 (which I'm now thinking I'll definitely do at some point). Thanks so much for for watching!

I saw Star Wars when it was first released but didn't see Empire. It was only much later when my nephew came to visit, we took him to see Return of the Jedi that I finally saw empire on VHS
I’d have most of those same films on my list as well and I really like The Score, Summer 2001 was a great Summer for movies and I also watched The Score in the theater. I remember being off work that summer and my wife worked in the mall and Id take her to work and have a quick lunch in the food court then I’d go see 4 movies and that theater was in competition with another one that had just opened so they had a deal where popcorn and drink refills were all free on top of the cheap ticket prices so it was awesome. I’d quickly hit the washroom between movies and refill my popcorn & drink then onto the next show. There usually was a slight overlap between my wife’s shift and the last movie of 30 or so minutes so she’d be waiting for me on the bench just outside the box office. It all worked out great. I did the same thing during summer 2003 when I was also off work.
Thanks for sharing that! I love to hear stories like that. It's those kind of special moments or times in our lives that really stay with us forever. And I agree, 2001 ended up being a pretty good year for movies, if i remember right. Anyway, yes I love The Score! I can watch that one repeatedly, and still never really get tired of it. Thanks for watching!🙂
I love Escape From Alcatraz. It's a perfectly paced film that keeps your attention until the ending. I feel like Shawshank had alot of similaritys to it.
Oh I agree... love both those films. Shawshank is up there pretty high for me too (saw it in the theater when it first came out... such an impactful film!!). Thanks for watching and chiming in!
@@TheOriginalFuzz My Top 10: 1. Aliens 2. The Thing 3. The Shawshank Redemption 4. Jaws 5. LOTR: Fellowship.... 6. Mad Max : Fury Road 7. Seven Samurai 8. Alien 9. Se7en 10. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
More recommendations to my watch lists with some of these I’ve not seen. Like you my friend, I appreciate ALL the Matrix films, even the newest in Resurrections. Of course none are as great as the first, but these films all have so many layers we can go back to time and time again. Thanks for another great list vid! Oh…and DeNiro is a batshit crazy moron to me as well. Good actor, but I don’t like him as a character these days.
Right on my friend! Thanks so much. Glad to hear there were a few you've not seen yet. And yeah that's exactly what I love about those Matrix films... how many layers there are. They're all so much fun, but also give viewers so much more to chew on than your average franchise. I never get tired of rewatching them! Great to see you Ken! Thanks for watching and weighing in.
Star Wars at 13, OMG, The Abyss, come on now.. I'm 60, but vividly remember the day in 1977 watching that and didn't want to leave the theatre. I've had the death march as my ring tone for years. There's one movie that has 2 Disney THEME parks and the 1 in California is on my bucket list. Tell me what that is.
Well clearly Star Wars is your #1. That's cool. But surely you didn't really expect other people's personal favorites to be ranked exactly the same as you would rank your own personal favorites, did you? Why not just be happy that Star Wars is on my all-time favorites list?😉 And btw, I wouldn't be touting Disney's involvement in Star Wars if I were you... considering many of us Star Wars fans believe Disney completely destroyed the franchise, sh*t all over George Lucas, and totally squandered a golden opportunity that they will now never be able to get back. Disney's on my sh*t list, so the theme parks won't be getting my money anymore. But that aside, the original trilogy will always hold a special place in my heart, having seen all of them in the theater when they first came out myself. I'll never forget seeing Star Wars in 77 either... it was a hugely impactful experience for me. I'm pretty sure it's my earliest memory of seeing a movie in a theater (I was about 6 at the time). Well thanks for watching, despite our disagreement on the ranking.
"(fifth element) This is the movie that exposed me to who she was (Milla Jovovich)", lol this is the movie that exposed her to me. The background interview with her is interesting too.
Yeah it was the first time I had ever heard of Mila myself, and honestly, I kinda fell in love with her character/portrayal right away. She was awesome in the Fifth Element! MULTI-PASS! lol
The rock!!!! You never have to apologize for talking about True Romance too much lol RIP TONY!! I haven't got the Star Wars on 4k, the comparisons I've seen haven't looked good. I have the bootleg De-Specialized blu-rays & they look amazing. Die Hard With A Vengeance is easily neck & neck with the original, I feel the original is a "better" film but the 3rd is a "funner to watch"film. I always wished they brought Sam L Jackson back.
Very cool! Thanks man... appreciate you weighing in and watching. I almost felt like I should've had more Tony Scott on my list lol, but when I sat down to figure it all out, there were just so many good movies that I wanted to make sure I included, so I had to limit my Tony Scott appearances on the list. Glad to hear you dig With A Vengeance too. It's so much fun! it's a little cheesier, but that's part of the charm. I found Jeremy Irons to be pretty amusing in that one LOL! I'm gonna have to do some research on the Star Wars alternate 4K editions available. I've heard those despecialized blu rays are great, but I've also noticed there seem to be a couple different options out there for 4K (in terms of fan restorations/reproductions). So lately I've been leaning more and more toward pulling the trigger on those 4Ks (if I can figure out who, how and where to get them from).
@@TheOriginalFuzz Yea they have a bunch of different versions to choose, you can get them HDR, no HDR, version 1, 2, 3, etc. I didn't do too much research into all that lol I just found the trilogy on Etsy & grabbed them. I think they show up on eBay every now & then too. I love Jerry Irons in Die Hard 3, especially when they patriotic music comes in & that whole scene where they're are breaking into the vault & the 1 guard is freaking out hahaha
Great list. I just do not understand for the life of me how The Rock and Armegeddon have not received the royal 4k treatment? IMO these are 2 of Michael Bays best...
It's largely because those films have been under Disney's control, and they haven't been very good about releasing catalog titles on 4K. But hopefully that will change with their new Sony partnership/ distribution deal for physical media. Thanks for watching and weighing in!
I think there are still plenty of us who dig it... I've heard a number of people giving it high praise. But we're apparently just not quite as loud as the haters LMAO!
No particular top25 here .. but I love movies like .. A Beautiful Mind, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Intouchables, The Pianist, Saving Private Ryan, Léon ... I have many many more movies on my favorite list wich I watch numerous times every year. I guess it depends on in what mood you are and what gerne you like best.
Oh I love the film of course. And maybe on some days for me, it would crack the top 5. Just kind of depends on my mood. But overall, I have more history with my top 5 titles, and I think that's probably what really landed them at the top. I didn't really rediscover The Thing until just a few years ago (even though I had seen it once many years ago, back in the 80s or 90s), so I didn't have quite as much history with that title, since there was such a long gap between viewings.
Before i watch your favourite 25, i'll list my own. Obviously everyone has different taste, and many of the do change slightly from time to time: 25 The Towering Inferno (1974) 24 It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World (1963) 23 Foul Play (1978) 22 Carry On Abroad (1972) 21 The Excorcist 3 (1990) 20 Police Academy 4: Citizens On Patrol (1987) 19 The Negotiator (1998) 18 Road Trip (2000) 17 Speed (1994) 16 Red (2010) 15 Final Destination 2 (2003) 14 The Omen (1976) 13 Star Trek: Generations (1994) 12 Lethal Weapon 2 (1989) 11 Dirty Harry (1971) 10 Halloween Kills (2021) 9 Scream (1996) 8 Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country (1991) 7 Love Actually (2003) 6 Die Hard (1988) 5 Beverly Hills Cop (1984) 4 A Fish Called Wanda (1988) 3 Damien: Omen 2 (1978) 2 Halloween (1978) 1 Pulp Fiction (1994)
Interesting that we both have Speed ranked at 17. I also love the first 3 Die Hard films best, although on a recent re-watch i did enjoy the 4th. Yes i also count the first 2 Die Hard films as Christmas films, along with the first Lethal Weapon.
Great list! I love The Negotiator... that's one of those films that has a high rewatch value for me. Samuel is just killer in it! And of course I love Tarantino as well... especially earlier Tarantino. Jackie Brown is my favorite of his, but Pulp is right behind it. You have some on your list I've not seen, but I'm curious to look into and check out... so I'll be hitting IMDB to look a few of these up. Thanks so much for watching the channel and for all the great comments. I really appreciate that. My apologies for my delayed response -- I've been away from the channel for a bit. Usually I'm a little quicker to respond to comments. But I'm getting back into the groove and am working on my next video as we speak. Also, I'm making my way through your various comments, but bear with me if it takes me a bit longer to get through them all. I'm really glad you're enjoying the channel, and it's great to have you here!
I agree about The Negotiator. I think it's very underrated. I did this list almost 6 months ago, i'm just looking how it's changed. I'd not seen all of the Tarantino films then, now more of them take up top spots. I feel guilty relegating films for no fault of their own, but it has to be done.
Everyone else is sharing their list so here's my Top 5 (to keep it short) 1. Apocalypse Now (1979) Dir. Francis F. Coppola 2. Goodfellas (1990) Dir: Martin Scorsese 3. Dog Day Afternoon (1975) Dir: Sidney Lumet 4. The Shining (1980) Dir: Stanley Kubrick 5. Mauvais Sang (1986) Dir: Leos Carax
I love Dog Day Afternoon, but haven't seen it in years. You just reminded me that's one I need to pick up for the collection at some point. Thanks for watching and chiming in!
Just a couple of thoughts. Did you know that SCENT OF A WOMAN is a remake of the 1974 Italian film PROFUMO DI DONNA, which was a major International success and nominated for the best foreign film Oscar of 1975? Al Pacino's Oscar-winning performance in the American version is generally considered one of the hammiest on record. Likewise, I wonder if you realize that the Denzel Washington version of MAN ON FIRE is considered a schlock rehash of a much better original starring Scott Glenn made in 1987. I'm curious to know if you've seen the originals of both of these films. I'm also curious about why you consider Robert De Niro an "idiot". Don't let me guess.
Those aren't the ORIGINAL Star Wars films. If you want to see the originals, you've gotta get the Project 4K77, 80 and 83. I've got the Blu-ray Harmy cuts and they're freaking awesome
I wonder how is possible not to "like so much" De Niro when you love so much movies ? 😶🤔Anyway, your choices are pretty good ! 🙂 I also forgive you about the Fifth Element that you have in 10th position front of Star Wars 👀
I can’t create a definitive top 25 favorites in order, but i’ll list 25 of my very favorites in order of release date. Vertigo (1958) Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) The Godfather (1972) Taxi Driver (1976) Apocalypse Now (1979) The Shining (1980) Blow Out (1981) Once Upon a Time in America (1984) Do The Right Thing (1989) GoodFellas (1990) Carlito’s Way (1993) Pulp Fiction (1994) Heat (1995) Lost Highway (1997) Good Will Hunting (1997) Spider-Man (2002) Memories of Murder (2003) Spider-Man (2004) There Will Be Blood (2007) The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) Arrival (2016) Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood (2019 Parasite (2019 Aftersun (2022) Oppenheimer (2023)
I've never seen it. Not sure if it would be my cup of tea or not. I'm not really into period films all that much (with some exceptions), and I'm not really the biggest Jack Nicholson fan either (although I do love Faye Dunaway, so maybe I'll check it out at some point).
Off the top of my head, without looking at my collection, this is what I came up with: 1 The Green Mile 2 The Abyss 3 Predator 4 Pitch Black 5 Heat 6 Robocop 7 Aliens 8 Training Day 9 The Rock 10 LOTR The Two Towers 11 The Fugitive 12 Crimson Tide 13 Terminator 2 14 Strange Days 15 Man On Fire 16 Blade 17 Monty Python and the Holy Grail 18 LOTR Fellowship of the Ring 19 The Matrix 20 Star Wars Episode 4 A New Hope 21 Men In Black 22 Superman 2 23 Star Trek 2 24 Kindergarten Cop 25 Million Dollar Baby I might kick myself after I go look to see what I left out, but it was an interesting thought experiment
Very cool list! I love it! I especially love that you ranked The Abyss so high. And I also love that you've got some Tony Scott movies in there. He's the man! Thanks for watching and sharing.
Well stated about Star Wars. I bought a laser disc player so that I could watch Han shoot Greedo (without Greedo shooting first) and to not see that awful Jabba The Hutt CGI scene
My top ten favorite movies in alphabetical order are: Braveheart Bringing Up Baby Dolores Claiborne Forrest Gump Innerspace Magnolia Maltese Falcon Psycho Purple Rose of Cairo Singin in the Rain
It was really hard for me to narrow down all 25 of these movies chosen but in no particular order… 1.The Godfather 2.Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon 3.In The Mood for Love 4.Blade Runner 5.Submarine 6.Jackie Brown 7.The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring 8.Trainspotting 9.Alien 10.Y Tu Mamá También 11.Chinatown 12.La Haine 13.Godzilla (1954) 14.The Grand Budapest Hotel 15.Bram Stoker’s Dracula 16.Children of Men 17.The Iron Giant 18.Akira 19.Dark City 20.Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 21.Farewell My Concubine 22.Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back 23.The Hidden Fortress 24.Miller’s Crossing 25.2001 A Space Odyssey
Yeah I totally understand... it gets kind of tricky once you get past the top 10 trying to figure out the rankings. I had the same problem lol. I suspect it's going to be even more difficult for me once I get around doing my Top 26-50 list LOL! Anyway, I love that you placed Jackie Brown so high on your list! That's easily my favorite Tarantino film. I'm also a big Godfather fan (not quite in the top 25 for me personally, but I love the movies!). Great list! Thanks for watching and sharing yours.
@ I believe Jackie Brown has one of the best soundtracks of any movie, also The Godfather for me was a hard watch a first I couldn’t get a grasp on all the politics, then I read the book and it really changed my mind after another rewatch. Also I thank you for your reply and for being a strong supporter of physical media I believe it’s really important to keep it going
Yeah I do plan to get to that at some point. Maybe in November sometime. I have to try and figure out what those movies actually are LOL! Thanks for watching!
Yeah it's a cool little set. I fell in love with it right away when I saw someone else showing it off on physical media. I contemplated double dipping on it for quite some time before I finally broke down and bought it. But no regrets!
I just got the new 4K steelbook two days ago. Great film... I'll be talking about Drive in my next collection update video, in fact (which will be out either later tonight or tomorrow).
I wish I got that steelbook for T2 4K. The presentation was so disappointing. But that steelbook looks freaking amazing I really hope Cameron fixed the horrible 5.1 remix for The Terminator. His 45 longslide shouldn't sound like a squeaky toy and a potato gun.
Well I believe they are working on a new 4K restoration for T2, to correct the existing release. With any luck, maybe we'll even see it released sometime this year. So it's possible there may be some kind of new steelbook edition that comes out for it... and who knows, that one might be even cooler. But I do love the clear color printed plastic slipcover on mine. That's one case where I bought it purely for the packaging.
No not for this list. I don't typically focus on pre-70s movies on this channel. Mostly 70s-00s action, sci-fi and horror. I just made a few exceptions for this list. And I'm only luke-warm on Scorcese... I don't necessarily dislike his work, and I do like a few of his films. But none of his movies would be in all-time favorite territory for me personally. I respect him, but just don't personally connect with his work as much as others do. Thanks for watching.
My Top 25 (In No Particular Order): Aliens Alien The Abyss T2 Star Wars (Original Trilogy) The Iron Giant The Matrix Trilogy The Thing First Blood Poltergeist Close Encounters Saving Private Ryan Edge of Tomorrow The Prince of Egypt Indiana Jones (Original Trilogy) The Fly Jaws Lord of the Rings (Trilogy) Dune 1 and 2 War of the Worlds Top Gun Maverick Christine Shawshank Redemption The Ten Commandments The Wrath of Khan
I cannot put my absolute favorite #1-25 because it all depends on what I am in the mood to watch. So my top 25 will be alphabetized: 1) Back to the Future 2) Blade 3) Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 4) Dirty Dancing 5) E.T. The Extra Terrestrial 6) First Blood 7) Ford V Ferrari 8) Forrest Gump 9) Gran Torino 10) Indiana Jones 11) Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark 12) JAWS 13) Me, Myself and Irene 14) Risky Business 15) Rocky 16) Rocky II 17) Rocky III 18) Stand By Me 19) The Crow 20) The Greatest Showman 21) The NeverEnding Story 22) The Revenant 23) The Shining 24) There's Something About Mary 25) You Don't Mess With the Zohan
Yeah I totally get it. It's tough to do, and my mood varies too. Great list! I have quite a few of those titles as well. Thanks for watching and weighing in with your choices.
Yeah I'm American, so all my personal favorites are the American film productions I grew up with. Honestly, outside of Italian horror or Hong Kong martial arts/crime drama films, I don't usually watch a whole lot of foreign films (with maybe occasional exceptions here and there). However, I may make a video at some point discussing my favorite Italian horror films or Hong Kong crime films, martial arts films, etc. But that's probably about as close to a video on foreign titles as I would get.
I think the original Matrix film is the best of the series by a mile, with the second and third half as good, and I was so disgusted with the final one that I turned it off halfway through and never finished it.
Oh I totally know what you mean... yes those are my least favorite moments in the film. I didn't really like the wife of Pacino's character in the film. She was annoying. Sometimes I'll even fast forward through a couple of those scenes LMAO!
In no specific order: The Rocky franchise Chariots of Fire The Godfather The Godfather Part II The Ten Commandments It’s a Wonderful Life Planet of the Apes (original) No Country For Old Men Blade Runner Hoosiers True Grit (original) King Kong (original) The Searchers Cool Hand Luke El Dorado Mississippi Burning Unforgiven Jaws Minority Report The Sound of Music The Bear Tender Mercies At Eternity’s Gate Singin’ in the Rain Quiz Show Escape From Alcatraz Speed Psycho Jurassic Park Red River White Christmas Gladiator Creature From the Black Lagoon Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory A River Runs Through It The Hustler Duel Soylent Green Hamlet (the Mel Gibson one)
Great stuff! I forgot all about it, but I love Hoosiers. I'm a huge Gene Hackman fan, and that is such a great film. I'm not even a big sports, and I still love that movie. High rewatch value too (although it's been a few years since I've personally seen it). I'll have to add that to my collection on blu ray... haven't gotten around to it yet. Thanks for sharing and watching!
Donnie Brasco > Fifth Element 1997 Wrath of Khan > The Thing 1982 Born on the 4th of July > The Abyss 1989 Goodfellas > Total Recall 1990 Matrix 1999 👍 Seven > Heat 1995 Silence of the Lambs > T2 1991 Apocalypse Now > Alien 1979 Terminator 1984👍 Aliens 1986 👍
Well I wouldn't personally compare most of those movies to each other (where you indicated with the ">" symbol), because most are apples to oranges comparisons -- i.e. completely different types of films. But if what you're saying is that those are your personal top favorites, then that's cool. I like some of those as well, especially Goodfellas. Thanks for watching and weighing in.
I'm not a fan of the bootleg cut of Almost Famous. The theatrical cut has a wonderful pace. Theres no fat. There are no unnecessary scenes. Penny's awkward birthday party felt really unnecessary
Well I have the opposite view... I love the extra footage and context. I don't really consider any of it fat. But I usually tend to prefer seeing more rather than less in my favorite movies. I want to see the director's full vision, to whatever extent possible. But I appreciate you weighing in. I've talked to a few others who also share your views on that one, and I can understand where you're coming from if you prefer a leaner, tighter film. Thanks for watching!
There is a Dolby Atmos mix on the Scream Factory 4K disc. I just double-checked. I think the confusion is because it wasn't printed on the exterior packaging. But when you pop in the disc and go to the audio set-up options, you can in fact select a Dolby atmos mix -- in addition to the DTS-HD master mixes. It was just a misprint on their packaging.
Bladerunner Wrath of Khan Alien The Thing Lawrence of Arabia Road Warrior Touch of Evil Casablanca Thin Red Line Criterion Blu-ray Double Indemnity Once upon a Time in the West The Shining Jaws Raiders of the Lost Ark Heat Blu-ray Apocalypse Now Escape from New York Singing in the Rain Predator Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Notorious (Hitchcock)Blu-ray Vertigo Last Waltz The Train Ben Hur Blu-ray
Great stuff! Very cool to see we share a few titles in common (and I also own some of the other ones on your list that weren't on mine). Thanks for watching and commenting with your choices!
Listened to this video on a long drive. I don’t care for Robert DeNiro either. A lot of the same reasons I don’t like Whoopi Goldberg. I watched Escape From New York the other day. I know it’s John Carpenter but I just found it dated and cheesy. Probably won’t watch it again and can fetch a decent amount for it on EBay. I thought Back to the Future would have been on your list but obviously wasn’t
Yeah i like the Back to the Future trilogy and I of course own it on 4K (looks incredible on the format!), but I've never really placed those films quite as high as other people do. But they're great choices. And I get it about Escape... It's not necessarily for everyone. But I don't mind the dated aspects. Takes me back in time a bit and adds to the charm for me. Big nostalgia factor. Thanks for watching and chiming in!
With Matrix Resurrections the first 40-45 minutes is bad in my opinion. After Neo gets awaken out of the matrix, that is where the movie is very good the rest of the way to the end. Its like watching two different movies in one.
I like the first 45 mins of Resurrections. The director was basically giving a giant middle finger to Warner Brothers in their own movie, and it was glorious! LMAO! I thought it was kind of funny.
I love that you included True Romance on your list! I always get excited when others mention this less talked-about Tarantino film as a favorite.
I honestly don't know what my Top 25 movies would be. I have so many. I would have to definitely think about it. This would be a good community thread for the physical media content creators.
What kind of movies do you like?
@@alejandroestrada703 Mostly horror movies. I made my own Top 25 video soon after seeing Fuzz's video. It's on my YT channel.
Based on your list, I'd let ya be my friend (haha)... just need to add Unforgiven and The Great Escape somewhere 😁👍
Another fellow horror and sci fi fan. Awesome list man!
49:26 awesome picks we've got more in common than I thought 😂... Great choices I won't say any of them because I don't wanna spoil it for everyone else ✌🏽
That's awesome to hear, my friend! Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I'd love to see your list at some point and compare notes lol.😉
@@TheOriginalFuzz maybe one day I'll make a video about my top movies it would be a tough one
Yes I am also looking for the 80s movie one.
I am a Sci-Fi fan and really enjoyed the documentary "In search of tomorrow," which chronicles 80s Sci-fi
@brucethen Yes I have that documentary too on blu ray, and I love it! 80s is definitely my jam!
@@TheOriginalFuzz I was very much a teenager in the 80s so a lot of those movies are ones I remember
@@brucethen Yep me too. The entirety of my teens were in the 80s. Great memories!
It's about $30: www.amazon.com/True-Romance-UHD-Blu-ray-4K/dp/B09GJHSPHV
The second one is a limited edition rigid "chunky" box set (no steelbook, just an amaray case inside the slipcase). It's $38: www.amazon.com/True-Romance-Limited-4K-Ultra/dp/B09X1X2S7G
That's a pretty good price for an LE box set. Might be worth taking advantage of if you'd like something a little extra special for this title. It's a great-looking 4K.
Thanks Fuzz I have always been a physical media collector. I slowed down when streaming took over. I appreciate you making it easy to jump back into the 4K world for my favorite movies!
Great top 25 Fuzz, looking forward to 26 through 50 🙂
Great selection of movies you got there Fuzz. That T2 steel book art work looks awesome. Hope they re release it with new 4k redo 😀👍
1.Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
2. It's a Wonderful Life
3. Silver Linings Playbook
4. The Lord of the Rings
5. Ikiru
6. Big Trouble in Little China
7. Whiplash
8. Casablanca
9. Shawshank Redemption
Great video .....even more great is to see you are a Marillion fan 😱💪🏻 😁
Great list mate 👌 so glad to see you put The Score on there great hiest movie and definitely a movie no one really ever talks about 😞
Oh yes, love that film!
Great list
Agree! And yes, the score was insanely great too!
Great choices! 2001 is so good. And I love the 4K release. Same with The Shining... just gorgeous on the format. Thanks for watching and weighing in!
Tell me the 1968 Planet of the Apes?? If so, I definitely agree. Never get bored of it!
outstanding list. love that you love true Romance and the Matrix movies and Cameron movies as much as i do.
@@TheOriginalFuzz Thanks!
Damnit Fuzz. I just bought the Studiocanel 4k of The Fifth Element. You talked me into it 🤣
You're gonna love it dude.
@@TheOriginalFuzz yup! Got the 4k steelbook
@@Franksmediaandreviews Well now you'll have the best of both worlds... great packaging AND a killer transfer.
Loving True Romance plus your deluxe steel box set - nice! ❤
The 90s were a good time for movies.
Most definitely! Especially for action and sci-fi films. Thanks for watching!
Great list Fuzz!! We actually overlap on a lot of favorite films. Great minds think alike lol!
Thanks John! That's awesome. Yeah I'm not surprised we have some overlap. Especially with us both being huge Terminator fans (just for starters). Thanks for watching my friend!
Love that you champion "The Score." One of my favorites as well and I don't think that it gets the respect that it deserves.
Great choices! I have most of those in my collection as well. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Yeah I love the packaging on that one... the light-up/music gimmick is pretty neat. I just had to have it when I saw others showing off theirs.
@@TheOriginalFuzz exactly! I almost feel bad, kind of like I am insulting films I love by not including them 😆

Great list.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a horrible transfer. Bad quality. Great movie though.
Jaws, Blade Runner, Cool Hand Luke, & both Godfathers are on my list, too!
Anyway, here's my list:
1. Forrest Gump
2. Good Will Hunting
3. Ground Hog Day
4. Mask of Zorro
5. Boyz N the Hood
6. Back to the Future
7. Pulp Fiction

18. The Dark Knight
19. Rear Window
20. The Princess Bride
21. Blazing Saddles
22. The Wolf of Wall Street
23. The Good, the Bad & the Ugly
24. Shrek 2
25. Shrek
Some great choices on your list! I own a number of them myself. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Fingers crossed with Dolby Vision and Atmos 🤞
,IL watch this at the weekend mate 👍🏻 I have been thinking about doing my top 20 but it's soooo hard 😮😕 jeez
For me I would add:
Blow Out
Fargo
Pulp Fiction
The Long Goodbye
The Big Lebowski
In the Heat of the Night
Three Days of the Condor
Lone Star
Jaws
Ronin
Shaft (original)
Blade Runner (and I don’t particularly like Sci-Fi)
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
Lol.
10 - Prisoners
9 - Jaws
8 - Mad Max Fury Road
7 - Titanic
6 - Prey
5 - Dunkirk
4 - The Greatest Showman
3 - Ford v Ferrari
2 - The Dark Knight
1 - Braveheart
My honorable mentions would be Disney's Lion King and Oppenheimer.
I also have that close encounters collectors box set and yes it still works when you press the button
Hi Fuzz,
Star Wars trilogy out of the Top10? And Matrix trilogy instead of so high? That is a shocker to me ;-). But thank you for your top list, I like this rankings very much.
Here are my current favorite movies (Star Wars and Lord of the Rings trilogy are not included, because top 15 would be full of this movies):
If I were to take the whole trilogy, they would be around fourth to sixth place.

Looking so much forwar to T1 in 4K later this year :D

All great movies, the only one that might make my top 25 is true romance…Great video.
I don’t know why most aren’t even familiar with The Score. It was a great movie, and did really good financially.
I'm glad you feel the same way as I do about Die Hard With A Vengeance.
And no one likes A Good Day to Die Hard.
Great list! Your No.1 is the same as mine.
That's awesome! Always love meeting fellow Aliens fans! That film really is just the greatest lol. Thanks for watching!
@@TheOriginalFuzz My Top 10:
1. Aliens
2. The Thing
3. The Shawshank Redemption
4. Jaws
5. LOTR: Fellowship....
6. Mad Max : Fury Road
7. Seven Samurai
8. Alien
9. Se7en
10. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
Great stuff! I've never seen Seven Samurai... might have to check that one out at some point.
@@TheOriginalFuzz you definitely should!
Thank you my friend.
The 5th element UK release does look way better than the US version, anyone who is a fan of the film should get the UK version for sure 👍🏼
What do the top 75 or 100
More recommendations to my watch lists with some of these I’ve not seen.
@@TheOriginalFuzz Yes subjective, and your video, you win but what in the wide world of sports is going on. Blazing saddles. Take care.
@TheOriginalFuzz thank you for that information, and I really hope that happens.
I actually like the remastered aliens. Everyone seems to hate it but looked stunning on my lg 88 inch 8k from the magnetar player
I have to confess, I thought The Thing would crack the top 5.
Obviously everyone has different taste, and many of the do change slightly from time to time:
25 The Towering Inferno (1974)
24 It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World (1963)
23 Foul Play (1978)
22 Carry On Abroad (1972)
21 The Excorcist 3 (1990)
20 Police Academy 4: Citizens On Patrol (1987)
19 The Negotiator (1998)
18 Road Trip (2000)
17 Speed (1994)
16 Red (2010)
15 Final Destination 2 (2003)
14 The Omen (1976)
13 Star Trek: Generations (1994)
12 Lethal Weapon 2 (1989)
11 Dirty Harry (1971)
10 Halloween Kills (2021)
9 Scream (1996)
8 Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country (1991)
7 Love Actually (2003)
6 Die Hard (1988)
5 Beverly Hills Cop (1984)
4 A Fish Called Wanda (1988)
3 Damien: Omen 2 (1978)
2 Halloween (1978)
1 Pulp Fiction (1994)
Interesting that we both have Speed ranked at 17. I also love the first 3 Die Hard films best, although on a recent re-watch i did enjoy the 4th. Yes i also count the first 2 Die Hard films as Christmas films, along with the first Lethal Weapon.
I also agree about Die Hard With A Vengeance, it is ranked i think around 30th, so just misses this list.
Everyone else is sharing their list so here's my Top 5 (to keep it short)
1. Apocalypse Now (1979) Dir. Francis F. Coppola
2. Goodfellas (1990) Dir: Martin Scorsese
3. Dog Day Afternoon (1975) Dir: Sidney Lumet
4. The Shining (1980) Dir: Stanley Kubrick
5. Mauvais Sang (1986) Dir: Leos Carax
I love Dog Day Afternoon, but haven't seen it in years. You just reminded me that's one I need to pick up for the collection at some point. Thanks for watching and chiming in!
What's funny is that I like maybe 7 movies on this list. Lol But that's ok. It's your list not mine. I still enjoyed the video.
Some people think "Die Hard" is a Christmas movie, the rest of course are wrong lol
Those aren't the ORIGINAL Star Wars films. If you want to see the originals, you've gotta get the Project 4K77, 80 and 83. I've got the Blu-ray Harmy cuts and they're freaking awesome
Yeah I definitely would like to get those on 4K at some point. Project 4K77, etc.

Parasite (2019
Aftersun (2022)
Oppenheimer (2023)
Great stuff! Lot of great titles in that list. Thanks for watching and sharing!
What about "Chinatown"?
I've never seen it. Not sure if it would be my cup of tea or not. I'm not really into period films all that much (with some exceptions), and I'm not really the biggest Jack Nicholson fan either (although I do love Faye Dunaway, so maybe I'll check it out at some point).
Off the top of my head, without looking at my collection, this is what I came up with:
1 The Green Mile
2 The Abyss
3 Predator
4 Pitch Black
5 Heat
6 Robocop
7 Aliens
8 Training Day
9 The Rock
10 LOTR The Two Towers

21 Men In Black
22 Superman 2
23 Star Trek 2
24 Kindergarten Cop
25 Million Dollar Baby
I might kick myself after I go look to see what I left out, but it was an interesting thought experiment
My top ten favorite movies in alphabetical order are:
Braveheart
Bringing Up Baby
Dolores Claiborne
Forrest Gump
Innerspace
Magnolia
Maltese Falcon
Psycho
Purple Rose of Cairo
Singin in the Rain
It was really hard for me to narrow down all 25 of these movies chosen but in no particular order…
1.The Godfather
2.Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
3.In The Mood for Love
4.Blade Runner
5.Submarine
6.Jackie Brown
7.The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring

22.Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back
23.The Hidden Fortress
24.Miller’s Crossing
25.2001 A Space Odyssey
I actually preferred Heist with Gene Hackman to The Score
Fuzz yeah plz do a 26 - 50 would be good.
Yeah I do plan to get to that at some point. Maybe in November sometime. I have to try and figure out what those movies actually are LOL! Thanks for watching!
I'm not a big "package porn" guy but that Close Encounters box is awesome 🤘
Yeah it's a cool little set. I fell in love with it right away when I saw someone else showing it off on physical media. I contemplated double dipping on it for quite some time before I finally broke down and bought it. But no regrets!
I have scent of a woman , so glad he never killed himself, but a good ending, not seen it since it came out, great buy !!!
You forgot one. DRIVE 4k. Commendable taste in movies sir.
I just got the new 4K steelbook two days ago. Great film... I'll be talking about Drive in my next collection update video, in fact (which will be out either later tonight or tomorrow).
I wish I got that steelbook for T2 4K. The presentation was so disappointing. But that steelbook looks freaking amazing
I really hope Cameron fixed the horrible 5.1 remix for The Terminator.
No pre-70s movies? And no Scorsese?
No not for this list. I don't typically focus on pre-70s movies on this channel. Mostly 70s-00s action, sci-fi and horror. I just made a few exceptions for this list. And I'm only luke-warm on Scorcese... I don't necessarily dislike his work, and I do like a few of his films. But none of his movies would be in all-time favorite territory for me personally. I respect him, but just don't personally connect with his work as much as others do. Thanks for watching.
My Top 25 (In No Particular Order):
Aliens
Alien
The Abyss
T2
Star Wars (Original Trilogy)
The Iron Giant
The Matrix Trilogy

Indiana Jones (Original Trilogy)
The Fly

Lord of the Rings (Trilogy)

Shawshank Redemption
The Ten Commandments
The Wrath of Khan
Great list! I have most of those films in my collection as well. And I love that you have the Cameron and Alien films as your top films.
I cannot put my absolute favorite #1-25 because it all depends on what I am in the mood to watch. So my top 25 will be alphabetized:
1) Back to the Future
2) Blade
3) Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2
4) Dirty Dancing
5) E.T. The Extra Terrestrial
6) First Blood
7) Ford V Ferrari
8) Forrest Gump
9) Gran Torino

21) The NeverEnding Story
22) The Revenant
23) The Shining
24) There's Something About Mary
25) You Don't Mess With the Zohan
Yeah I totally get it. It's tough to do, and my mood varies too. Great list! I have quite a few of those titles as well. Thanks for watching and weighing in with your choices.
Me, myself and Irene, yes! A true gem but sadly somewhat underappreciated, with an amazing soundtrack.
All good films. Since these are all from just 1 country, how about doing a list of your favourite non-American films?
HEAT is an all-time great! ....but I kinda wish all the wife/girlfriend stuff had been cut except for DeNiro's.
Oh I totally know what you mean... yes those are my least favorite moments in the film. I didn't really like the wife of Pacino's character in the film. She was annoying. Sometimes I'll even fast forward through a couple of those scenes LMAO!

Great actor. Miss seeing him in films, but he retired at the right time.
Donnie Brasco > Fifth Element 1997
Wrath of Khan > The Thing 1982
Born on the 4th of July > The Abyss 1989
Goodfellas > Total Recall 1990
Matrix 1999 👍
Seven > Heat 1995
Silence of the Lambs > T2 1991
Apocalypse Now > Alien 1979
Terminator 1984👍
Aliens 1986 👍
Escape from New York is dts-hd master audio from scream factory
There is a Dolby Atmos mix on the Scream Factory 4K disc. I just double-checked. I think the confusion is because it wasn't printed on the exterior packaging. But when you pop in the disc and go to the audio set-up options, you can in fact select a Dolby atmos mix -- in addition to the DTS-HD master mixes. It was just a misprint on their packaging.
Thanks fuzz! They did the same with Creepshow 4k
@@Veniceredmask01Yeah they've been known to do that from time to time. Lol.

Yep everyone a died in the wool samn masterpiece 😂
