Myth: You CAN'T eat fruit because you have diabetes. In the Mastering Diabetes community, everyone knows that is just silly. It's insane to hear about fruit being bad for people with diabetes because it “spikes” their blood sugar levels, cause unwanted weight gain, and increases their insulin requirements. So in this conversation, Cyrus and Robby are going to prove that wrong.
The premise is, sugar in fruit is not the same as the sugar in your pastries. Fruits can be a great addition to your diet. They're natural sources of sugar, high in fiber, antioxidants and phytonutrients that help prevent chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
So what gives? Why would you want to eat fruits on a daily basis while living diabetes or any other threatening condition?

I am suffering with the lies told on other channels. "Meat can reverse diabetes because it has no carbs, ketogenic diet is the best to reverse diabetes". My blood pressure went through the roof, A1c elevated, kidneys are now bad I need to take Jardiance and doc put me on Metformin and Rovustatin. I am now on your advice and will see what results I get by my next A1c test. I hate being lied to. We need help to live not bad info to keep the medication business going.

Ive just being diagnosed with type 2. My grandad and greatgrandad (both parents side) also had type2. My great grandad ate all types of fruit and veg, including all the ones people say dont eat, and he after while kicked type 2. My grandad, again ate all friuts and veg and he kicked type 2. The best part about me grandad was he was an alcoholic. So if he kicked it being an alcoholic but just ate healthy foods then theres hope for all. A friend of mine has type 2 and hes had it for 15 years, no meds or insulin pen. He enjoys pizza, cakes, chocolate and so on but just does it in moderation and has no size effects doing it. Just hang in there and enjoy ur life

Yes. They are right. In my opinion, following a low carb diet for a short period (2-3) months is ok but in long term low carb is on helpful. I quit eating fruits for over a year but I got the best results when I started eating fruits again. I eat twice a day and I include fruit, vegetables, meat and fish in my meals. As a result, reversed pre diabetes and achieved normal blood pressure(113/73). I keep myself away from processed foods. Don’t forget to walk or exercise at least 30 minutes a day, it helps more than many drugs in the market and it’s free.

Thank you for dispelling the myth that fruits are bad for diabetics, which is widely promulgated. However, I would like to point out that the metric of glycemic index is outdated and has been replaced by the glycemic load. As you point out, glycemic index measures how fast a food will raise blood sugar, but the defect there is that it does not take into account the carbohydrate and fiber content of the food, which glycemic load does. A perfect example of this is watermelon, which has a high glycemic index of 72, but a low glycemic load of 5 to 6 due to its high water and fiber content. Thus, when evaluating, which fruits to eat if you’re prediabetic or diabetic, choose those fruits with a glycemic load under 10.

I don't want my blood pressure to go down or my hdl cholesterol to go up. I had a hdl of 95 when taken in March. I'm hoping it's lower next year. I'm slightly underweight. I've been prediabetic most of the last nine years since I started getting tested. I felt it was worth changing my diet two years ago since my twin became prediabetic as well. I'm now eating more plant based and I just bought your book. I eat a lot of fruit.
My blood glucose is currently normal when I test with a glucose meter. My fasting sugar is less than 95. My sugar after eating a high carbohydrate meal is under 120. I don't understand why I have an a1c of 5.6 at my last annual. I'm going to keep trying to eat a healthy diet that contains a lot of fruit. I bought cherries today.

I love berries! My favorite is blueberries! I eat them all the time! I like blackberries and strawberries, too! I tried two other berries this year. One is called Dewberry. They are a bramble berry so they look like blackberries. They grow wild so they aren't in stores. They grow on a vine. The season for them is May, I think. It has a short season. The next is mulberries. The trees grow wild here in Texas. I had the white ones and red/black ones. They are the sweetest berries! I ate them with my blackberries in a smoothie. Ugh, so good! So yeah, I had a great time with berries this year! 😂😂😂😂

Here’s the thing. That was all I ate in that day. And I don’t intend to do this every day either.
Ordinarily, I eat 4 or 5 fruit servings/day. Together with 4 to 5 servings veggies (real veggies and green powder). I also eat whole grains every day (couscous, millet, quinoa, all kinds of rice with less emphasis on white rice).

It is so sad that berries, apricots, cherries, pears, apples... all the fruits on top of your list are not locally grown fruits in West Africa. Most of them are seasonal and imported fruits that most West-African diabetics cannot afford. We do have plenty of bananas, papayas, oranges, mangoes (seasonal), watermelon, avocadoes and pineapples. Three days ago, a friend of mine bought two pears for the equivalent of one US dollar. One good size apple costs about 1/2 $ US. It is insane. The only berry that can be found at a reasonable cost is strawberry when it is in season. It looks like all we have is what advocates of the ketogenic diet forbid. If none of our locally grown fruits is part of your top list fruits, what is that supposed to mean ?

I’ve watched UA-camrs check there glucose on bananas and all there reads go up high but when you eat watermelon readings are low I think you have it wrong I eat half a watermelon and one cantaloupe and my readings are in the low eighties at two hours. I’m not here to bash you I’m all in with your program. I would love to eat more bananas but the readings go to high. Everything that I’ve tried to find out about my readings was that you need to keep it where it doesn’t go over 140 mg. That makes me go crazy I’m just about to starve myself. I eat nothing but fruits and greens. The banana has 35% of fructose to 65% glucose. Watermelon has or about 65% fructose and 35% glucose. Which the more glucose the harder it is to digest.if I’m misunderstanding I’m sorry.

Fructose has no impact on insulin regulation , 5 - 6 g of fructose remains in intestine , because of decrease glut 5 receptors on intestine , which absorbed goes to liver , where it is metabolised , most gets converted TGAs .
Remaining which enters blood stream worsens insulin resistance.
As fruit is consisting of water , fibre , it decreases absorption fructose , glucose.
So low glycemic fruits with less fructose (
