Possible spoilers for those who didn't know the original Starcraft story.
Aldaris is kinda... tragic. He's actually the only one who knew what's going on, but his pride always gets in the way. He could've contacted Zeratul or Artanis earlier or told them sooner here about Kerrigan's scheme, instead he wanted to solve everything 'the true Protoss way' by winning through combat.

I get the feeling that there may have been a smidge of guilt that was driving him there as well, considering the events of the Protoss campaign back in the original SC before Brood War. All that work in desperation only to have it shot up in spikes and blades.

This makes me want to vomit, this is just so upsetting! Seeing Aldaris become a true hero, just to be killed by Kerrigan, while his brethren refused to listen to him.

SC1 story is much better than SC2. Dark Archon really useful.

How about compared to regular Archons?

They have different roles. Archons deal splash damage to ground and air targets. Dark Archons are spell casters that turn the tide of battle.

it's kinda funny, because high templar were spellcasters, and archons were mainly high damage units, whereas dark templar were high damage dealing units and dark archons are spellcasters.

Because of their dark voice.
