I loved this video. It was so helpful to see it layed out and explained in detail. Thank you for demonstrating. I have my 1st 4x8 raised flowerbed set up. Hoping to get 1 more setup before end of April.
I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you! I have not planted a flower garden before and your videos inspired me to give it a shot. I followed your instructions and needless to say my front yard has tons of very pretty blooms and I love it! I have found I like the Xzinas the most simply because the blooms last so long, but the variety of blooms and the colors is all very fun and very pretty. Anyway, thank you!
Super helpful video. I signed up for a cutting flower class that starts in January but I'm trying to get an early idea of what I'm in for lol. I know Pansys need started pretty early but I'm glad there's plenty I can direct sow from seed ❤
This is amazing. I usually plant seed mixes for variety, but I now want to try it with more intention. I am going to add more sunflowers to my garden in a couple of weeks.
Your videos are the BEST! Always packed with experience and info, yet so accessible and I appreciate that you *show* us how you do each and every step. The soy sauce/vinegar trap is new to me--great tip.
Thank you for showing how you do this. I have my written plan and will be planting all my seeds today. I'm planting in raised beds in Pine. I'm so excited and grateful that you have showed us exactly how to do this.
Perfect timing! I am just getting a new in ground bed going that we are making a cut flower garden. This gave me some good ideas and thank you for the tips for keeping birds away! I love my birds but they sure mess with my direct seeding.
I may try this. My cosmos seem to get pm really quick. Much quicker than the zinnias and dahlias. We use the beer traps on the slugs and pill bugs. The earwhigs avoid it like the plague. They prefer the soy or oil and ACV more we found in our space.. The netting intimidates me so I stale as well. For us the pill bugs definitely are the ones decimating plants in our garden, because I go out there with flashlights at night and find them all over the plants. Oddly especially marigolds. My first season I purchased started plants and came out the next day and all of the plants were gone but two, so I came out the next night with a flashlight and sat there and watched them eat an entire plant and that’s when I realized that we had a pill bug infestation. We have so much organic matter I’m not sure why they continue to go after all of our plants?? It’s like a frat party in our garden with all the cheap beer everywhere 😂.
Yes many farmers plant them at about 2-3" spacing--it helps keep them a more manageable size for bouquet use!! They won't get as large but that's fine with me, sometimes they're too big for me to use otherwise!
You are so organized! I am a disaster and just scatter the seeds and hope for the best. I guess that is why you are the professional flower grower and I am not…😂
Not sure how possible it is to predict, but on average, if we followed this plan, how many bouquets would you be able to get out of a bed this size per week?
Love your videos and information! Ive been trying to find the video (maybe it was on Instagram?) explaining what you apply on the outside wood of the beds. I remember it was a type of oil or beeswax?
I love this! I just planted my first succession based off this plan last weekend. I'm really excited to see how they do. The top layer of soil does seem to dry out quick and cracks even though it's moist beneath. I try to keep it misted on top to prevent, but heading out of town this weekend. Any suggestions?
Great video! I've got a soil question, I have new raised beds but need soil. I've found triple mix soil that uses peat but I'm trying to avoid purchasing peat for many reasons one includes my soil type (clay). I'm wondering if I could make my own triple mix using topsoil, mushroom compost and shredded pine (peat substitute) in equal parts? What would you suggest? TIA
I know this is really random but I am in the market for a new hat, and I love all of the ones you wear, I would also love to support your regenerative farming practices, Do you have a link where we can buy your branded hats to support you???
This might be a dumb question, but can you put the mulch back over the area when the seedlings have emerged- keeping it away from the base of the plant? I would like to do this for moisture control and weed suppression. Our will it harbor unwanted pests?
Not a dumb question at all, once they are big enough you definitely can! I usually wait until they have a couple sets of leaves and that way they won't get swallowed up by mulch in case wind blows it or rain moves the mulch around!
Plan? What plan? 😜 Seems I’m doing the wild and crazy, unorganized and UN-uniform masses of wild and crazy mixes of everything I can toss in. Idk. I’m feeling a little wild 😆 I’m just.., give me all the seed… And somewhere, I will find some spots to sow them. Somewhere. Gotta be a place around here somewhere. Idk what’s growing where anymore. It’s growing. That’s the Main thing 🤞🏻🙏🏻🫣😜
I used this garden plan juet last week. I'll be it using again tomorrow in two other beds. I did buy some of the beautiful mums that you grow and they are stalled, bloomimg on very short stems. I mean three inches tall. Do i need to pinch them?? Add fertilizer? Are they slow growers?? I am really lost here. They were expensive so any suggestions from you will be so appreciated. THANK YOU BREE 😊
I followed this plan with a couple subs about 10 days ago for everything except Dahlias then put the Dahlia’s in Monday. The only seedlings I am seeing is marigold. Should I be worried nothing else has sprouted? I’m in Colorado Springs, so it hasn’t been super warm.
This might be a silly question but how regularly are you watering that bed? I thought you weren’t supposed to water tubers until you see green leaves 🤷♀️
I covered mine with a clear plastic tarp with holes. I left it on until the seedlings got a bit bigger. After years of trying, I think I may finally have sunflowers this summer!
They're often thirsty this time of year and seeking out water sources. :( Maybe try putting out a dish of water and see if that helps keep them out of your tubers! What a bummer!
I don’t like any pesticides. The organic ones like DE can be even worse sometimes as they are broad spectrum killers-DE will kill any soft bodied insect that comes into contact which as spiders or ground dwelling bees

I needed this video! I watched the initial cut flower garden video! I love seeing the plan in real life!

I love watching all your beautiful flowers. I just wish you make more videos of harvesting it and bouquet-making too!💮💮💮
Is there a updated video to see what the beds look like?
This is so helpful for my personal raised bed cutting garden. I hope you will show us the progress as the time goes along. Thank you.

This video inspired me to finish my beds without started indoor plants. Saved me so much time

Can't wait to see what this looks like all grown out!
It was great to see it visually step by step. I also learned about trapping pill bugs with a potato. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Again, this was super helpful, thank you! I especially found the pest control interesting.
What a great video - you showed so much helpful detail and I loved the tips about pests at the end. Thank you and happy zinnia and dahlia growing!!
Thanks so much, happy gardening!!
Extremely helpful to see your plan and how you accomplish this task.

Thank you so much for this informative video. I'm starting my first cut flower garden this week. Can't wait to see the results!!
I just planted this garden based on your plan yesterday! We definitely have some digging squirrels so I need to pick up some burlap!
Chicken wire works great is inexpensive and reusable.
great tip, thanks!
Do you include the grown out flower bed in any of your other videos? I'd love to see it how it grows at the different stages?
I had no idea you could space sunflowers that tightly- i may go back and add some sunflower seeds to the spots where i already have plants!
Yes many farmers plant them at about 2-3" spacing--it helps keep them a more manageable size for bouquet use!! They won't get as large but that's fine with me, sometimes they're too big for me to use otherwise!
I am new to your channel and I am enjoying watching your videos🌱🌱🌺🌻🌼
Thank you so much!
I love your cut flower plans! Thank you! 🌸
Thank you for the feedback!! Will keep 'em coming!
You are so organized! I am a disaster and just scatter the seeds and hope for the best. I guess that is why you are the professional flower grower and I am not…😂
Great video 👍🏼 I'm glad you mentioned to make sure to clean everything out cause I was going to just be lazy and not do that.
Thanks! I guess you don't HAVE to, but it sure makes it easier!
So many helpful tips. Thankyou
Enjoyed the video and always appreciate the information.
This was so helpful, thanks for sharing 😊
Was there an update video of this particular bed? I’m trying to find it but I don’t see one.
Fantastic video! Thank you
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for the very specific description 😁

Try placing a piece of burlap on top and moisten it! Could also do a thin layer of leaves or straw to help retain soil moisture!
Moving away from plastics and would love to know source for your nice jute netting.
Conscious gardeners!
Do you have a use for the really thick sunflower stalks? Can they be dried and used for something like staking?
How deep does soil need to be for a cut garden bed? I’ve asked my husband to make me some raised beds but trying to determine height.

Is this a 4 x 8 ft raised bed? I’m so amazed how many dahlias can go into each square foot.
Tell me about your irrigation lines… Do they have holes every 6 inches? How do they work?
Random question is the ‘mulch’ just dried up leaves 🍂? Thanks
How long after your seedlings come up do you add mulch over those squares
This might be a dumb question, but can you put the mulch back over the area when the seedlings have emerged- keeping it away from the base of the plant? I would like to do this for moisture control and weed suppression. Our will it harbor unwanted pests?

Can you plant sunflowers with wild flowers ? In the same bed ?
I see this video came out 7 months ago… it’s January in CA 9b. When would be a next best plant time for success?
Love your videos!! Can you tell me where you buy your seed ?

Yes!! Pinch them until the fourth of July!!
@@Blossomandbranch Ahhhhhh,......thanks so much!

how do you water this garden bed? soaker hose?
Did you buy the jute netting or make it? Where can I get it from?
This is from a company called conscious gardeners ❤️
Can I ask what depth your raised bed is?
What seed catalogs do you order from?
Regarding pests, what are your thoughts on Diatomaceous Earth?
I don't like it myself as it will also kill beneficials and any ground nesting native bees!
This might be a silly question but how regularly are you watering that bed? I thought you weren’t supposed to water tubers until you see green leaves 🤷♀️
I overhead water daily where I’m direct seeding and just avoid the tubers :) only takes a few days to get germination with these quick growers
what jute netting do you like?
Conscious gardeners makes it :)
I gave up on sunflowers because every time they grow a little bit the rabbits eat them
Try covering with burlap until they’re bigger :)
Eat the he rabbits? 😂
I cover my crops with metal/wire baskets
I covered mine with a clear plastic tarp with holes. I left it on until the seedlings got a bit bigger. After years of trying, I think I may finally have sunflowers this summer!
@@Blossomandbranch when you say cover with burlap, can you explain that? Do you mean a sheet or individual wraps?
Chipmunks ate all of my dahlia bulbs. 🥲
NOOOOOOO
