I personally would like to listen to whatever stories you're willing to share. You sound like an interesting individual, and it's always nice to hear people talk about subjects they want to talk about.
Loving the videos, recently found you because of PrivateLime's videos on Ostranauts. I think the only "critical" thing I'd like to point out is that the grain / static in the background of your microphone is a little much, but other than that I'm loving the stuff you're putting out. Great video!

Love the little oxygen tank flavor text in the description. Thanks for the video.

I'm personally very happy you don't cut out bits. As you said, it's a let's play. We are here for the journey, not the destination ;)

Ship Scrapping Tip: When I have a ship I know I'm going to be scrapping, I first uninstall the walls and conduit near the airlock. (I'll also punch a few "escape holes near the airlock as well for those things not in the ship and any maintenance I need to do on my own ship.) Next, I set up a haul zone near the ship. Everything not wall, floor, and conduit gets tagged for removal and dragged to the temp haul zone. Then I go through and decide what I want, starting with the largest. (You can always backfill small holes with stuff to maximize your haul.)

Bunks are wonderful finds. In theory they only give +25% sleep quality, but bear in mind you get tired at constant rate, even when you sleep, it's just sleeping also undoes tired at slightly higher rate. That means you only rest tiny bit on a bedroll, and actually get more tired snoozig on bare metal. IMO sleeping on Bunk or Medbed will cut your sleep required for full rested by half or more.
When wall/floor breaks, but isn't entirely destroyed, for example from micrometeor or gunshot, it leaks atmo. Holden patch will stop the leak very fast, useful if you don't have components for "repair" command on you. Ripley kit will create temp wall tile, airtight so it can plug both missing tiles in walls and floot. So it's useful if something physically destroys a wall or floor altogether.
It's possible to put ship parts into containers, at least some. Very light parts like atmo scrubbers can fit in bins (ofc you need 3x1 bin to fit 3x2 item), heavier like MHD can fit in racks, but tanks, navs, field coils, and reactor chambers only go on the floor.

I have bounced off this game a number of times, I find it really intriguing but it is also really hard to grasp. It's really helpful to watch someone who knows what they're doing play.

The big 3x3 tanks are usually not worth taking, because they take ages to repair, even with the laser torch and max skill. The most-valuable loot item is probably the nav console. They're worth ~10k at the fixer, and sometimes they have data worth another 10-15k. Reactor parts, especially the 3x1 parts are really good too, in terms of how much you get compared to how much cargo space they take up.
btw, Kleg is on Ganymed, which is NOT the same thing as Ganymede. Kinda confusing, I know. Ganymed is a near-Earth asteroid about 0.3AU from Earth at it's closest approach.

You play the game so well. I struggle with the docking and interfacing with things and I used to play MUDs back in the day. Always so nice to see someone with the patience and not immediate freak out because a horn starts making noise.

The main issue with the harvesting/building loop in this game is that all the ships people build eventually become cubes
It's like all sea creatures evolving into crabs. All ships become cubes.

I have yet to try it myself but based on discussions I read on the Steam forums ship restoration used to be the fastest way to riches in earlier versions but has since been nerfed to the point that most consider it not worth it. Due to the need to source components for repairs and replacements (i.e. new batteries, walls, floors etc.) requiring multiple trips to and from the derelict plus the significantly increased repair times in .14, the return on your time investment apparently pales in comparison to just stripping the ship of its remaining valuable equipment for all but the tiniest of derelicts.

Why do you not do gradual thrust increase? If you start at low levels and then crank it up you can stay in green for your character, reduce fatigue gain, and i assume their some game mechanics about it damaging your thrusters or intakes, or walls when your ship shudders. Try it from adjusting your thrust up from zero why pressing "w". You don't get a ship shudder.
I paid attention to this when using really damaged thrusters and they would kick in and out. I hated the ship shaking, made me think it was gonna fall apart.

My first large expansion on the dream, I had 2 batteries and didn't give two thoughts........while I was laying tile all my ship lights went out, it's my first time playing so it took a minute to kinda figure out what happened. Lesson learned.

I really enjoy this series. Is the game worth getting now. I've been hesitant due to reading all the stories about bugs and crashes?

    • @Xcal131
      @Xcal131 2 місяці тому

funnily enough i've never had it crash, although after extended (3hours plus) play sessions you might start getting weird autotask priorities, or sometimes things that won't work right. nothing a restart won't fix.

I did get some crashes, the worst kind that forced me to power off my Laptop, but just a few. The game is playable, and if you set the goal of owning a house, you'll play alot, since it will take earning more than 5 million $.

Ive sold some derelicts. Try to get a towing brace first, but you can use the ferry pass to get around as well. Buy as cheap a ship as you can, i got less return for larger investments.

so ihave a random air pressure going off in my ship atm i havent jumped back on because i dont want to lose progress i moved a n2 can into my ship but somehow its leaking idk what to do any suggestions ?

N2 alarms don't go off because of too much N2, only too little. Perhaps you have too much CO2. As far as I know there is no such thing as leaking can, not unless you place it under working pump (pumps can use not installed cans if they are under intake tile).
If you want more details, press g ingame and describe values for each color here.

@@varthaner4617 surprisingly enough you can use an oxygen pump to refill an Eva suits O2 tank, just place the bottle on the ground under to vent side.
Make sure to use "slow" or you overpressure them and they break and leak air into the room.

@@jakekilley9037 Just don't accidentally put a flask of water under one of those pumps. Weirdly they can also hold atmosphere and a lot of it. I experimented and pumped 70% of an N2 can into one before and it took it all just fine.
