Ford Focus Air Filter. How to D.Y.I.

Certain 2000 era Ford Focus cars. Have a none replaceable air filter. Know as a "lifetime" air filter. But do to there location. And dusty environments. They are far from lifetime. Here's a cheap solution... On my 2006 Ford Focus ZX5. With the 2.0 duratech.

How's the cold air coming through from the front of your car ? I have tried this and air flow sensor messed up and engine light kept coming on. Doing this causes hot air coming through the intake air filter !

It's not factory. And doesn't have a c.a.r.b. certificate.

Uh. I don't know. I used junk yard spare parts. And super cheap Ebay filters that are no longer available.

I finally have an answer for you. Because I had to do this modification on the wife's car. It went up 2 mpg. Her car is 2006 Focus California emissions. Rated at 134 horsepower. This red car was an Focus SES rated at 143 horsepower. Don't know if that matters. But there go. Not much. But in a year it adds up.
