Great video Jerry. I think Kia are really killing it in terms of design for their whole range. On a side note you drove very close to my old house just off Cape Hill rd 😜 Anyone reading comments and looking for a vehicle in Auckland, can highly recommend Jerry at Ebbett. @@JerryPanandCars Yes, I heard we won’t get it. The EV 3 might make it to our shores, but that’s a bit smaller than I’d like. I’ll probably buy an Ioniq 5.

It’s the face / motion monitor. It flashes or beeps when you are not focusing on the road. I had GoPro on my head and it’s probably mistaking that as an human eyes.
Great review. I guess everyone was waiting for it. Looking forward to getting it launched soon in Australia. btw is it Rolex Explorer 40 you are wearing?😅

Sounds like it really needs adjustable dampers so can be comfy around town or freeway but handle better on windy roads like you have in NZ and same in UK
Thanks for the comment. I didn't see it but others are commenting on the "cushion thing" on the back of the rear seats. I will find out what that does.
What is the red blinking light on top of the display (above the lane assist icon) ? Really annoying, it was the only thing that cought my eyes in the driving section of the video. had I been driving I would have been so distracted.
it’s the face/motion monitor. It flashes or beeps when you are not focusing on the road. I had a GoPro on my head and it’s probably mistaking that as human eyes. In standard drive with no GoPro, it was fine.
From what it looks like I see no ventilated seats nor the cooling/heating box and also no fingerprint sensor to start the car. Can you confirm if these are going to be part of the GT-Line only? I found a brochure off of the Kia website that is no longer available stating the Earth AWD is supposed to have these.
Thanks. Not sure about the consumption and I haven't got enough time to test it either. There is also no top speed detail yet. The brochure of New Zealand spec is coming later.
Our AWD test vehicle when we first took it out said an eye watering 30kwh per 100km, after we reset it and drove at a normal speed, and changed it to km per kwh we got 3.9 km per kwh so not great, of course we are in Christchurch so temperature is much lower. But even so, we feel our AWD EV6 has better efficiency, which gets around 5km per kwh. At 60% battery capacity, it was showing 185km left from its 84kwh useable capacity battery.
Anyone have a theory as to why there is and extra cushion on the passenger seat? Looks like it makes a bench seat, but the center console would make it an unusable place to sit. I guess it removes a gap where things can fall through between the passenger and the console.
The GT-Line gets 8 speakers Harman Kardon and all the other trims get 6 speakers non-branded. I haven't tested it much but it is normal not bad but not superb either. CarPlay is wired.
EV3 hopefully will have better efficiency as the EV5 is less efficient than our EV6! It's possibly because the EV5 is higher than the EV6 so more drag. But the EV3 is similar height to the EV6 so that should help. Hopefully the Korean built EV3 will not have so many annoying so called safety features that are so annoying like the over speed warning sound and flashing even if you go just 1kph over the limit! Of that annoying driver attention system that will go off if you look down at your lower display for just a few seconds! None of that rubbish on the EV6!
It's not a patch on the EV6 in quality. We have an EV6, and both my wife and I were very disappointed with the EV5 having less noise insulation, a lot more hard plastics, poor efficiency, and, worst of all very annoying aids like over speed warning which Jerry disabled in the video as it's so annoying! And like most cars has to be disabled every single time you restart the car! Also, look down another annoying so-called safety feature driver attention will beep and annoy you! Be warned you had better have no plans to ever sell the car as depreciation is brutal! In just 18 months, our EV6 has lost 50% of its original price! Some dealers are selling the long-range Air EV6 cheaper than the Air EV5. Not to mention, the Tesla Model 3 and Y are still cheaper than the base EV5!
:( Sorry, I wanted to give the audience some insights on how it looks like on windy road although I doubt many will drive in this condition every day. My bad. I will slow down next time.
@@geoffsemon7411 Thanks. That’s correct. I actually reviewed the video a few times. The camera is set to 30fps and that’s why the surrounding roads disappear quite fast. If it is set to 60fps, things around it will be much smoother.
