In the UK, how much performance do you need… 0/100 KMH in 7.5 secs is plenty. Back in the 80’s that would have been a performance car… Charge speeds hardly relevant as you gotta have a pee and eat, stretch legs… The price will determine these things and we need to make intelligent choices…
Exactly. IMO far too much is made of charging speeds ive been driving a car with max 70kw speed for 4 years and never had an issue, 30 mins is what i need to stop anyway on say a 300 mile trip anyway and thats just about right to charge the car enough for next destination. I maybe have waited an extra ten minutes perhaps a couple time s and i do 200 to 300 mile trips amd 10k a year so its not like im pootling around locally.
Interesting, my girlfriend is looking for a new car and we are torn between the EV3 and EX30. Specs the Volvo wins, however the KIA has a proper dash and a 7 year warranty.. Tough choice, will need to see the EV3 in the flesh before deciding!
You know Kia had a tech day in Korea all about the new EV3 tech. There is even a blog about the changes including new iPedal 3.0 and works in reverse gear too. The drag coefficient is 0.27. The charge time isn't terrible though remember you have 2 adults in your family, imagine if you had 2 young kids the 30min wouldn't be long enough. Who cares about the 0-100 time really unless you want to make your passengers sick every time you go out driving just to make yourself look 'cool' while your car smells like vomit.
Charge time is more relevant than peak charge speed. Kia quotes a DC charge time of around 31 minutes for 10-80% for the EV3, which is comparable to a Tesla Model 3 Long Range (10-80% in 27 minutes) despite the big difference in peak charge speed.

But 30 minutes is decidedly middle-of-the-pack nowadays. 25 and below is good, 18 is outstanding. Remember that this will likely improve with time, and 30+ minutes will likely feel veeery slow in 10 years.
I'm excited for this car. I think with the 100% tariff in my country on Chinese cars the EX30 may never arrive. :( I really want something modestly sized!
The space in the back seat was demonstrated by Jack Scarlett ( @JackScarlett1 ) from @fullychargedshow. If he can fit in there, there will be plenty of room for average sized people. One aspect you miss in this video is that this car is relatively light. The large battery variant starts at 1835 kg and the small variant at 1750 kg. Only the Menage with a significantly smaller battery has better numbers. The decider will be the pricing, but at least in their home market it doesn't look bad. A small battery costs under 29k euros and a large one under 32k euros, and even the basic version includes a heat pump.
I think with the big battery, the charging performance is fine especially considering the efficiency that Kia usually has. Of course we have to see the charging curve too, and most importantly, the price tag.
Why not compare it with the BYD atto 3. I sat in both and the LFP battery made me pick the Atto. The BYD also feels more spatious inside and has al the extras on board like a heatpump. The EV3 has also more space in the back then the ex30.
LFP batteries are cheaper batterries. Chinese marketing made people think that LFP batteries are better. LFP is not used on expensive vehicles. Benz, Taycan, and more.. There is nothing better than ncm. What's even sadder is that in 10 years, used lfp battery cars will become even cheaper. Unlike ncm, recycling is impossible.
@@Nuntingdoli LFP has lower watts per KG , so bigger and havier then msc. For expensive long range vehicles, LFP are to big and heavy. LFP have no Cobalt! Have almost twice the number of recharge cycles. Old (and saver) LFP batteries can be used as home battery, still have more value.
Great video, for me the DC charging doesn't matter for this car, for me if i ever buy it, it will replace my ID.3 which i never DC charge, it will be good though to have the LFP battery
The ammount of time spent on charging speed is literaly not that important. How often do you travel something like 800kms that you can not and absolutely can not handle extra 5 minutes on some 10 hour trip you doing. That is just out of scale of things. Just like youd be losing your job for being 1 day sick in 3 months of time if you put it into a scale. Charge time difference of like 5 minutes between 10-80% is a stupid comparison. I mean a buyer gotta be just plain mad to decide to get the some occasional or rare 5 minutes time save over the mad massacre that the EV3 will be doing to the market. Just hands down a winner here. The EV3 is easily the most spacious here both for trunck and also for rear passangers. The packaging is mad good in that car and Autogefuhl channel shows it nicely. a 195cm dude sits behind himself comfortably.
even for 400V architecture, 100kW max DC charging is mediocre for 2024. I tend to believe that Kia is using some cheap battery chemistry that doesn’t allow high charge/discharge rates.
EV3 better cause it have perfect motor power for Battery and FWD does better range compare to E niro if EV3 has better suspension will be easy choice to buy for public
I'm so damn fed up with every single car UA-camr in the whole damn world saying "Kia EV3 looks like a smaller EV9". May have been relevant when it was shown but seriously, IT ISN'T FUNNY ANYMORE! Theres a huge different, EV3 looks extremely better and that's because it's designed to maximize the usefulness of a compact car while EV9 is designed for pure arrogance!
I agree. Frankly I think it’s more like an evolution of the Kia Soul. I’ve had a 2010 Soul and currently drive a 2018 Soul and had every intention of buying a Soul EV until they stopped sending it to the US. The Niro feels like it sits lower than the Soul so it’s not as easy to get into and out of for us older people. I’ve got high hopes for the EV3 but have NO idea when I’ll get to see one in person here in central US.
@@abraxastulammo9940 I am not sure I follow - rear wheel drive would make the frunk more likely to be much bigger? I am much more concerned though, with the dynamics/handling/traction that RWD would have. FWD in an EV - kinda' stinks!

With a starting price of 30.000 euros, EV3 will have much more sales then all the other EVs from your comparison.
For me, rear seat room is critical. The rear seat in the EX30 is too small for adult passengers.

For God's sake, get the EV3. The EX30 is turgid inside. I would hate to spend any time in one of those.

Chinese cars are made with LF batteries which are inferior to what is put in EV3.

Yes. I think EV3 is better than others. Long as the Range is acceptable, I don't mind 35 mins to 45 mins wait time.
